Koren was super pleasant to work with all around. Fast, clear communication before the initial meeting. A lot of a great ideas during the initial meeting, for how to keep our project within budget, and where it was worth splurging or dialing back. We had requested a bid on two main projects (Kitchen and Primary Bathroom) and help deciding the scope for the remainder of our projects (Flooring, Guest Bath, Office, Patio, Etc.). We were shocked by how much of the "bonus" projects we could fit in, and yet felt very confident with Koren's insights that these were realistically within our budget. The formal quote came in REALLY fast after our meeting, and was very easy to follow and extremely fairly priced. Was very impressed with how quickly they were ready to begin the work, and the forethought of asking us if we planned to "live-in" during the remodel vs. get an AirBNB or the like. We hadn't even thought of that. Would have been very confident in moving forward with ATX Remodeling. Especially as Koren had so many examples of the type of elaborate communication and oversight we would have at every stage of the process.

Michelle came out and gave a very thorough quote. She was fantastic. Answered all my questions, left me feeling confident that they knew what they were doing and could not only fix all the problems the previous contractor had caused but also go above and beyond to do all the things we had hoped we'd get originally. She worked with me on every little detail and gave great advice throughout. Michelle knows what she is doing and got me a quote that was crystal clear and very reasonable. Daniel ran the job and was fantastic as well. He had great insights, let me nag him about every possible question I could come up with, was flexible if I had any changes of heart about this or that, extremely easy to work with. All of his subs were top notch, which I can say as a business owner in the construction field myself is extremely rare. Plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tile work, all were fantastic. He's surrounded himself with great people that get the job done right the first time. They didn't bat an eyelash at the art deco tile or the smart valves or any other unusual items I sent their way, they knocked it out with ease. And lastly Koren worked with me on any project details/paperwork that I needed. Was very responsive to everything I brought to him as I looked for assurances that I wouldn't have the same experience I had with the last folks. A very easy to work with company all around. I will be using these guys for future projects because the price is right, the quality is fantastic, and most importantly were willing to entertain any weird ideas I had. Your home is one of those things that has to be just right for you, and they made sure the bathroom remodel turned out just right for me. He came out the next day to have a look and recommended capping the existing concrete as the quickest and most affordable option. He wasn't the cheapest quote, but he had good suggestions for improving the look, the leveling, and drainage which was also important for us. He and his crew came out the next week and finished the job in a day. It looks great (we get compliments), it's all usable space now and it drains much better. I'd give five stars, but he left his blower at home and so left our furniture and other things covered in concrete dust from a little demo they had to do. That said, I would recommend you get a quote from Juan if you need concrete work.

We bought/stained pressure treated lumber and did the demo work of pulling up the old porch. We soon discovered to our dismay that the underlying frame and columns holding up the veranda were varying degrees of rotted-out and needed to be replaced entirely. We wanted the job done right, and so we decided to find a contractor to work with. After doing some research on Yelp, I reached out to a handful of deck building specialists. Originally, Deck N Cable Railing wasn't even on my radar. Yelp has the function that if you click a button, it'll automatically duplicate your request and send it to an additional handful of businesses. I didn't even realize that I had accidentally done this. I'm so glad I did because Deck N Cable Railing was one of the businesses that Yelp sent my way. First off, they were very fast at responding to my request for info. They reached out, asked for a bit of additional information, and then offered to come out to give a free estimate in person within 24 hours. Juan Pena, the owner, arrived on time for the appointment. He listened attentively to our needs and evaluated the job that needed to be done quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly. He was sensitive to our desire to not let the lumber we had already bought/stained go to waste and made a plan to utilize it. He was also able to give us a quote on the spot which was really helpful. On the day of the installation, Juan arrived with his crew members, Jovial and Alejandro, to help get this situated for the job before he left for the day to attend to other projects. Jovial and Alejandro spoke limited English, but they used their smartphones and Google Translate to communicate with me when a question came up and so communication worked out just fine. Jovial and Alejandro were friendly, professional,and very hard workers. They were fast and fastidious and kept the job site neat. Juan had said that it may take up to two days to finish the job, but his crew were almost complete by the end of the first day. There was a minor issue with the frame visibly sticking out just a bit at one corner of the terminating edge of the porch. It wasn't a structural issue, more of a minor cosmetic issue, but I discussed the issue with Juan, and he immediately came up with a suitable solution to address my concerns. He joined Jovial and Alejandro on the morning of the second day of the installation to personally inspect their work. The job was finished within an hour or two on the second day. All in all, Juan and his team did an excellent job with the porch. It looks fantastic and feels exceptionally sturdy. We're very happy with the quality of the work, and we are looking forward to enjoying it for many years to come. We'd recommend Deck N Cable Railing without reservation based on the quality and efficiency of their work alone, but that's not the only reason you should consider giving them a call. Juan was very easy to work with. He's professional, responsive, friendly, and conscientious. He takes a lot of pride in his work and it's important to him that his clients are 100% satisfied with the work done. Moreover, his pricing is very reasonable. His quote for the job was by far the most reasonably and competitively priced bid. Finally, and this is a bit embarrassing, I accidentally overpaid for the job. I paid Juan in cash, handing him an envelope with cash, without realizing that I had miscounted it. Imagine my surprise when I got a call from Juan that evening (apologizing for calling so late!), to let me know that I overpaid him, and he wanted to schedule a time when it was convenient for me for him to stop by in person to return the amount I overpaid. That's integrity, folks. If, like me, Deck N Cable Railing isn't on your radar, they should be. Solid 5 stars.

With a ton of experience doing this kind of install, Marcus helped out so much that I was pretty much able to handle coordination of the main pieces and personnel without needing to hire anyone else. He did a great job making the vision come alive and was transparent with any problems that arises (and importantly fixing them when necessary). He was friendly, fair with pricing, and also very quick-- framing and installation took only 2 separate, spread out days (to allow for drywalling and parts arrival in between). My personal experience with him in terms of communication was excellent, but I also purposefully avoided peak summer season so as not to catch him at a busy time. Part 1 - DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS, if you want to retain value in your home. Sales person Ashley Jacobs was unhelpful in selection, after months of back and forth, I had to find what I wanted all on my own. For the contract amount ($40K) I would have expected better quality, however I have crooked stairs, Schluter that is the wrong color on the second step from the main landing, was told that the grout color I chose doesn't have a matching silicone grout to prevent movement and cracking on the stairs. They also were unprepared when it came to installing the floor tile, no spacers, eyeballing the layout and now I have lippage, and corners that do not line up in any way shape or form. Grout lines that range from 1/16", 1/8" and 1/4". I told Ashley from the beginning I am very OCD and expect perfection, that I would be harsh when it came to the final result and she promised me the dream team, the best crew they had, and the end result is far from what I expected, to the point that I actually hate walking into any of the rooms they laid tile in total of 2100 sf of tile. I even noticed they used silicone caulking on the door frames which in some areas looked very odd, like the frame had been painted and the paint dripped onto the tile. Upon further inspection, they covered up the fact that they cut the tile too short around the door frame. So I removed every single piece in every door way and ended up with six stitches in my hand to prove that they were covering up mistakes that had been made. DO NOT let them con you into their "free furniture moving", after they damaged an expensive piece of furniture and I sent the pictures to Ashley, I received a call from the owner, who I only had been introduced to as Mazz, informed me they are floor installers and not furniture movers and after 10 days of install, they were going to leave the job, stating that I had expensive taste (I do, and I admit it whole heartedly - Ashley even commented on my taste and still included free furniture moving in the quote), because his crew told him that we had asked them to leave when that was not the case at all, we simply told them to not move another piece of furniture without one of us present. I begged them to complete the project as no contractor on earth would take on someone else's mistakes and if they did it would be constant finger pointing, not me it was them. They never offered to have the furniture repaired in any way instead insulting me and stating that because I have a steep drive, I should have been charged extra for bringing down the tile on a trailer, when they were fully aware that we had a steep drive to begin with, while touring my home and measuring everything. I make it clear to anyone coming to my home for anything even appliance repair or painters, that I have steep drive, take a look and let me know if there is an issue. Also DO NOT let them con you into any other services like plumbing or a general contractor for other work you are considering to be done. As I have been reminded many times by the owner, "they are tile installers only", they do not have the skills to perform a remodel and if they do, from the reviews I have seen are beyond sub-par and rife with complaints. I only looked at the reviews on their webpage and didn't thoroughly do my research on other websites like Yelp, or Next Door. The refused to obtain an account on a specific tile I picked for a the backsplash above the cooktop which is separated from the rest of the kitchen, so I had to place that order myself, it arrived on Dec 23rd BUT they closed for Christmas /New Years on Dec 20th until Jan 8th. I met with Ashley on Jan 11th to discuss everything I had an issue with and she took detailed notes and photos. At the time, she said her husband had COVID, but she had tested negative, the following week everyone had COVID, so the project completion was delayed until mid-Feb when it started in Nov. Since the tile I was forced to order myself had specific requirements for install and was considered a specialty tile, I contacted the manufacturer and received all the instructions and list of necessary tools and products to perform the install. I sent all this information to Ashley on Jan 11th. I then received a call from the owner confirming they would begin the install as soon as they everyone was feeling better and recovered from COVID, also confirming that they had reviewed the email from the manufacturer, and would arrive with everything they needed to finish the job. The night before, I had a really bad feeling that something was going to go wrong. My gut was right on. They showed up on Jan17th with nothing, no cutting tools, none of the products to perform the install, only paper to protect surfaces and was told I would be charged for sealing the tile as they do not seal tile. I tried contacting the office, I tried contacting Ashley, no one was returning my calls. read more

Lied T. Part 2 - So, I was forced to run around for an hour getting everything needed on my own dime and time, when they had the information for more than two weeks. The owner finally contacted me and said they would not complete the job, they would not take responsibility for the specialty tile I had ordered and waited more than 9 weeks to arrive, so I finally snapped and told them to leave my house. I was forced to find someone else to do the job. I called the manufacturer and they had someone who knew the tile, and it was installed within 2 days and it looks magnificent. Fantastic Floors owner Mazz Rasheed had agreed to address everything I had gone over with Ashely Jacobs and to repair the stairs under warranty. They didn't show up for another 3 weeks. I told my husband I honestly didn't want them in my home. I had been insulted by the owner multiple times over the damage to the furniture, how I had made him out to be the bad guy, I had expensive taste, everything to take the blame off his company, and I honestly didn't want them to even do the warranty work, as I worried something else would go wrong and they would cause damage just to aggravate me even more. When they did arrive, they were here for 3 days, the main guy was on his cellphone up to 4 hours each day outside by his truck, then told us he would only replace 20 tiles and refused to address the crooked stairs, so while I was assured by the owner Mazz Rasheed aka ELMOWIZ E ELSHAKH that everything would be addressed, to this day, I still have tiles that are out of alignment, lippage, crooked stairs, Schluter color mismatch on the main center stair case, the stone hearth is damaged with chunks missing from removal of the hardwood flooring in that area, they tore my custom curtains, ripped the rod out of the wall and it gouged the wall when it came down. I have rooms where they taped around the windows and the tape took chunks of paint and texture off the wall, I have a gouge in a rounded door entrance because they moved a large mirror and dragged the top of the mirror, I know this because of the color of the paint left behind. I was told I would have to re-paint the areas they worked in, but this is next level, with differences in height on the Schluter used for the main kitchen backsplash and areas where the Schluter has a gap in the wall, the quote I received to do even the most minor repairs was almost $20K, because they have to repair the wall, then match the texture and can't just repaint the small area, they have to do the whole wall. Lesson learned by me, if they can't help you find a tile you like, can't even get the bid total correct after multiple tries, then you should steer away from them. I made the mistake of giving them a check for 50% of the job upon signing the contract and on day one they showed up without the proper tools to do the job, plus there was a snafu about when they were going to start - contract signed on Oct 13th, day to start was Oct 31st, however no one communicates clearly with anyone in the office and they didn't even have me on the schedule for starting on Oct 31st or on the schedule at all, after I had been packing everything away for 2 weeks getting ready for the start date of Oct 31st. I honestly thought that since the job total was over $40K, they would be a stellar company to work with, promising the dream team, attention to detail and a final product I would be proud to show off, when in reality, they are subpar, claiming they can do anything including remodels and up-charging you 500% by paying their installers minimum wage, charging their workers for warranty work, and taking lavish vacations during the holidays in foreign countries. I funded their lavish vacations, while I sat here during the holidays growing angrier and angrier by the second at what was a horrible outcome and now a nasty scar from the six stitches on my left hand while removing the silicone caulking to expose their bad cutting jobs around door frames. DO NOT allow these people to work on your home, it will be your worst nightmare. read more

My wife and I had wanted hardwood floors in our new home when it was first built 2 1/2 years ago, however, the builder was just outrageous for each and every upgrade, thereby making it impossible to have the hardwood floors at that time. We had shopped around at various places and decided to try Fantastic Floors since it was fairly close to our home and seemed to have great reviews. We dealt with Mazz, who was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly and had all of the answers to our questions. Our dealings with Fantastic Floors was just that, fantastic. We decided on Hickory hardwood. The actual installation was done very, very well and we are extremely satisfied with the outcome. No complaints about the installation, however, we noticed that the installers had placed their table saw in our front flowerbed, stepped on and broke some plants and had left small cut pieces of wood and lots of sawdust in the mulch. They also had apparently moved the dishwasher to install the wood under the cabinets and failed to put it back correctly, resulting in the front of the dishwasher dropping at an awkward angle that we had to fix properly. Fantastic Floors does deserve 5 out of 5 stars, however the installers should be a little more careful of the clients' possessions. read more

Fantastic Floors is appropriately named: our hardwood and ceramic floors are . . . well, fantastic. That's just what you hope for, but beyond that, everyone we dealt with at FF was helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Mazz and Ashley in the showroom apparently know everything there is to know about flooring. Mazz was helpful from a design perspective, helping us to see what colors and layouts would work best, and also worked with us on scheduling of the work and our payments. Sergio, Eduardo, Michael, and Orlando are real pros and did their work efficiently and with good cheer, even with an old retired guy (me) moving boxes into the garage and checking in on the project. We were having a plumber install a new stovetop and discovered the granite was 1/4 inch too small. We had no work done relating to granite, but called Ibrahim and he was able to get a professional out there the next day so we could continue with the install quickly. Ibrahim acted as a general contractor and was able to keep our project moving especially in our tight timeline of 4 weeks to get the house ready to put on the market. The sales reps are very agreeable and are good salesmen...confident in their products/service and make lots of promises. Have a pretty quick turnaround with ordering and install. Depending on the scope of project, they send in a large crew to get in and get the job done. Cons: The quality of the job lies in whatever crew and Project Manager gets assigned to your project. The sales rep becomes a middle man of trying to give "the customer is always right" vibe (or "let's keep the customer happy") AND "got to keep the PM happy or he'll probably leave the job with his crew". Sales rep will say, "yes, we can do that, let's make it right." Then the PM comes in and says, "the slab was uneven, that's normal, nothing we can do about it." The "we can fix this portion of the job, it's easy, just need to do this..." then becomes "choose the worst couple of spots and we'll fix those" because of pushback and excuses from the crew. No quality control. I'm giving two stars because they did a good job with our carpet installs, and our Sales Reps were nice guys. Just wish our "nice guys" could have had a crew that knew what they were doing and took more pride in their work. I've talked to other customers that had other crews work on their projects, and they did not have any of the same issues as we did. And they were surprised when they saw the pictures I'm posting.

All emotions aside, here are the facts. Covid Move- My…read morefamily and I moved across the country in 2020. It was a difficult time to find services for our new home and we settled on Lonestar Carpet for all of our carpet and laminate flooring based on a handful of online reviews that looked promising. The sales rep we had told us we were getting the best of the best (price was not our biggest concern as we wanted good value and longevity) and that we would get years of good use and value from our $8k + purchase with his company. Red flags- Right away there were problems. The pad we ordered was not the pad that showed up on installation day and one of the installers told my husband that he had never installed flooring before that day. When we called, the rep told us that he had misquoted us for the wrong pad and getting the correct pad would add thousands of dollars and weeks of time to our install. We were frustrated but we made the call, we didn't have weeks to wait. We had already put off moving in to get this job scheduled After installation- The installation of the laminate flooring was shoddy and the transitions started popping up right away. We also noticed seams in our carpets within a few months. We tried to call several times and got no answer. The companies who provided the materials refused to talk to us, sending us back to our rep. We ran in circles. It is what it is- The time in our life was incredibly chaotic and we made the decision to do what we could to mitigate the issues and moved on with life. Looking back, I wish I would have had the bandwidth to push harder or drive to their corporate office to talk face to face, but things in 2020 were difficult and we let it go. 2023- time for new laminate- The problems with the laminate had gotten so bad we decided to replace it once and for all. We found another company with lifetime product and installation warranties and set the date. My husband pulled up the old flooring and the reason for all of the lifting and cupping became very obvious. There was no moisture barrier installed on the concrete sun floor, no preparation of any kind, nothing. We looked up the installation manual for the flooring (we still had a box in the garage) and found a guide from 2017 stating that a moisture barrier of at least 6mm must be installed on concrete sub floors. "We could just walk away" - We called the rep, he and his boss took two days to get back to us. When he called us with his answer it was that "the company changed its policy on moisture barriers in DEC of 2020 and since our floors were installed in August of 2020 "we could just walk away from you." He went on to say "the floors have no warranty, zip" and "we don't have to do anything to help you." When I tried to tell him I had found something from 2017 indicating that was not correct he talked over me, became agitated, and told me that his company would "go above and beyond" by filling out a claim form against the flooring manufacturer. In short, Lonestar Carpet was not going to do anything to stand behind its work or its customer. Their "above and beyond" was to fill out a claim form, which the sales rep told me repeatedly he "didn't have to do." Take aways- There are a lot of flooring companies with excellent reputations. Many of them stand behind their products and services with lifetime installation warranties representing companies who offer the same on their products. Why would you choose a company that considers it "above and beyond" to fill out a form and pass the buck to the manufacturer? Why would you choose a company who employs sales representatives who yell at and blame their customers? I feel that my family and I were taken advantage of in many ways by this company. I will not be having them fill out a claim form, or provide any other services for me and I am warning as many people who will listen to shop around. Flooring is a huge investment, it is supposed to last a long time, the company you choose will be represented in your home for years. We learned the hard way so you don't have to.
