I have a brand new rental property for rent and only after 2 yrs of renting the carpet was not cleanable to do heavy stains . I recently used Carpets by Conrad to replace the carpet for my entire house. The showroom has a variety of options to choose from and the sales associate made sure to show us the types of carpet available for our price point and explain their differences. We were able to bring some samples home to see how we liked them and were quoted within 2 days. Once we made a decision on the carpet we were able to schedule an install within 1 week. We had tile floors installed December of 2020 in a guest bath and a few months after install I noticed one of the tiles seemed a little loose. Each year the tiles have gotten even more loose, and you can literally hear them crackling underfoot and feel that they are all loose now. Unfortunately, this company does not seem to stand by their quality as I called them several months ago to see if they could repair their shoddy workmanship and have never received a call back. What a shame- no one seems to have any pride in their work nor have good customer service these days. We also had them replaced the carpet in our primary bedroom and paid extra for them to nail down a few loose floorboards. Those have popped up and now we have unsightly seams in our carpet. I wouldn't recommend this company as they don't stand behind their work and do a poor job installing. We rarely use this bathroom either so I can't imagine the state of the tiles if this were a high traffic bathroom. It's embarrassing that I have to tell houseguests to tread lightly on the floor to prevent the tile from popping up. read more

Mike is very knowledgeable and helpful. The crew who installed the floor was quick and cleaned up after themselves well. I had a plumber come in and double check the toilet connections and everything after they were done and he said they did a good job at that as well. read more

The new owner of Carpets by Conrad is Janek Z. It is my understanding that he purchased the Austin franchise from Tim S. who handled the sale and installation at our home shortly before selling the company. When my husband and I first had our flooring installed, we were initially thrilled with the outcome; spending 10k+ on new flooring for your home is not a small decision and we thought we had chosen the right company for the job. Unfortunately, we started to notice almost immediately that the flooring we had been sold was not durable. Chunks came out at the corners, boards began to crack and peel. It was clear that the sub-floor had not been leveled properly and the boards were giving out simply by being walked on. We took pictures and contacted Janek, assuming that since we were under warranty, they would replace the damaged boards (which is what we were told during the install process). Rightly, we were frustrated because we were told, and I quote, "This flooring is installed in Starbucks all the time. It's super durable. It will last forever." After several unreturned phone calls and text messages, we finally pinned Yanek down to a date to come to our home to assess the damage. He arrived along with the distributor/supplier/rep. of the flooring that we had purchased (Swiff Train Washita), who explained to us that the wear-layer of the flooring we had purchased was too thin the be installed in a high-traffic home and that the product had been misrepresented to us. He recommended that we use as many rugs as possible in our home to protect the floor from further damage (!). The meeting ended with a handshake and many promises to "make it right". Since then we have had zero contact from the company. We asked for specific dates to be given for repairs and we heard nothing. Totally ghosted, 10 grand wasted. I would be overjoyed to be contacted by Carpets by Conrad and to have this issue fixed as was promised. If that were to occur, I would gladly delete my review, but in the meantime, may it be a cautionary tale to others. Perhaps it's time to lawyer up? read more

It took us weeks to find the right people to assist my partner and I with renovating our upstairs and staircase. We finally decided to move forward with Carpets by Conrad, and more specifically, because of Tim. He was extremely communicative. He was able to really explain the entire process, the different types of flooring, and he tracked down a perfect match to our discontinued downstairs flooring to create a seamless visual from downstairs to upstairs. Of all the flooring "experts" we spoke to, none of them treated us in the same was that Tim and his crew did. And I genuinely thank you for that, it truly made the experience great. His employee called my wife a liar when she told him he was to provide the grout and we would pay him. We thouroughly discussed the color and his installer was to look at it and match the color. Instead his installer refused to do the work unless we gave him the bag of grout. As you can see we told him this over the phone, in email and during this review and he still doesnt get it. Finally I have both WYZE Cameras and Ring doorbell of the entire interaction and cannot find one single instance of violence. Let me start off by saying 1 star is too good for these guys. A few weeks ago Tim came over to the house to measure and do a quote for carpet as well as replacing 4 cracked tiles. I said will you honor the deal on your Facebook? He said he had no idea about the FB ad and it was put up by mistake but he "will honor it" Great, it's on your site, as you should. He did an entire walk-thru of our house and said the carpet people would move everything and my husband and I would both said "are you sure, that's a lot of stuff"! and he said, yes, they will do it all. Flash forward to yesterday, the carpet guys show up and also do their own walkthrough and said they can't move the 30-gallon fish tank, it's too heavy. I am 7 months pregnant and Tim CLEARY saw the tank and said nothing about it, so I said ok, I will call my husband and have him move it. My husband shows up, and drains half out and asks the guys to help, which they did. But once they left, they only moved back about 60% of the stuff and didn't even touch the fish tank. So he and I (AGAIN I AM 7 MONTHS PREGNANT) moved it. Far from something 2 grown men couldn't have done themselves. Flash forward to this morning, the tile guy shows up. I have the tiles needed for him. He says, "where's the grout and the stuff I need"? I said, here are the tiles, Tim said to give you $13 to get the grout". His response VERBATIM - "You're a liar, Tim said you would have the grout and all the stuff I needed to do the job" I show him the email that Tim sent (see below) and he said, "no, Tim didn't send that". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? So I told him to leave. Tim then calls my husband and seems to not grasp that the guy said we were to provide the grout and is harping on color. WE UNDERSTAND YOU TOLD US THE GUY WOULD HAVE TO BUY SIMILAR GROUT, THIS IS ABOUT YOUR GUY TELLING ME I WAS SUPPOSED TO ALREADY HAVE IT FOR HIM WHEN HE ARRIVED! AND HE CALLED ME A LIAR WHEN I TOLD HIM I WOULD PAY HIM TO GO BUY IT HIMSELF! Clearly, his handyman didn't tell him the whole story. Well, check out the emails the OWNER sent to us!! He is a grown man who is a business owner and literally let his emotions get to him so much! l it's actually hysterical to say the least "pay your balance for the carpet we installed per our agreement and do not EVER contact me again" haha that's something an emotional little girl would say! Tim doesn't own this company any longer and it shows. The new owner does not stand by his installer's work. My floor has buckled because of shoddy workmanship by the installers. This was confirmed by Mark, who came out to my house. He said that the installer didn't leave enough room at the walls for expansion. The next time I spoke with him, he then changed his story. Since I didn't record the conversation, I can't prove this. The manufacturer of the vinyl plank called for a flooring inspector. After MANY phone calls for some answers, Carpets by Conrad wanted ME to pay for that inspection. Rather than deal with Carpets by Conrad, I got someone else to fix their mess. Carpet by Conrad was a last stop for me. After visiting 3 other carpet/wood flooring stores, this was the one we decided on. For my decision it was about value, and personable service. After going to other stores, Carpet by Conrad stood out from the moment I walked in. I had the best sales person Tess. She listen to my needs and narrowed down my choices from an overwhelming selection, to taking a handful of samples home and deciding quickly from there. Tess was extremely helpful in researching and finding the exact hardwood flooring that matched my existing floors of four years. What seemed to be laziness of the other stores I visited by saying "it's no longer available". Tess went above and beyond only to find that the original manufacturer of my existing hardwood floors had been sold to another manufacturer, and even though, Now with a different name she was able to find the new manufacturer to track down the exact flooring, no easy feat apparently since no one else I checked with was able to do that. So, I have nothing but good things to say about Carpet by Conrad and I do recommend them and if you're lucky you will get Tess to help you. She is very professional and was very responsive to any questions that I had. I'm not someone with huge amounts of disposable income, so when I make a large purchase I tend to do a whole lot of research. I found Carpets by Conrad through Nextdoor and Tim reached out to me directly to set the ball in motion. I had been in the market for a month or two before 1st contact with Tim and was *shocked* that his process was to bid a single, all inclusive (product & install) price per square foot. Up to this point every single business I contacted from the national web-based, to the liquidators, to the guy-and-his-truck were bidding in fragmented ways (1 price for product, another for install, another for incidentals). This convoluted method is the industry standard and it sucks for the customer. (but is is a great way for the seller to recoup any losses and pad their margin.) SO the 1st big point in Carpets by Conrad's favor was the fact that they'd bid down to the penny what you will spend up front for everything. I figured it would, at very least, give me a baseline for comparison when the other bids started coming in. I was pleasantly surprised when Carpets by Conrad's final quote was within a few hundred dollars of the aforementioned guy-on-the-truck. As someone with low financial risk tolerance, I decided to go with the traceable business: Carpets by Conrad. Regarding the product: we did LVP and Carpets. Both are great and we love our new floors. C by C had a broad selection of both at various price points and we were able to find the right fit in one visit. Regarding the service: Mike B was fantastic to work with. Knowledgeable, friendly and straightforward: we recommend! The install teams were right on the money: fast, accommodating and extremely polite and helpful. Carpets by Conrad installed some carpet for me a few years ago and I had a great experience with them then, but didn't write a review because I'm lazy. Then last week I was in search of some carpet to re-carpet my cat's favorite cat tower and I thought "Those guys are great. I'll see if they have some carpet for me." And I was not disappointed. The guy that was working there that day came out to the pile of carpet scraps on the side of the building and helped me sift through them to find the perfect carpet for my kitty! It's even nicer than the carpet I have on my floors - very plush and soft. Flopsy is napping on it now! read more

Really really pleased with how my floors turned out. I had about 1850 square feet of glue down vinyl put into my house, top to bottom. The bottom floor was tile and the crappy pop together fake floors, upstairs was nasty old brown carpet. They took everything up day 1. Day 2 was preparing the floors and putting down tryply to evening the floors. Day 3 new floors went in and day 4 was stairs. Through every step I was in touch with Tim and the site project manager. Older Austin houses can have unforeseen issues but these guys were very skilled and helpful. They did a fantastic job and I'm very very pleased. read more

I called/emailed Tim over the weekend. He responded to me on Monday morning. We arranged for a meeting Tuesday morning for him to give me an estimate and look at the options available. He provided me with an official quote by 2pm that afternoon. I did a quick price check to make sure that his estimate was reasonable (it was). He said he could come out and get it installed the following week. I asked him if it was possible to get it done by Friday. By 230 on Tuesday he confirmed that he could make it happen on Friday. I was out of town so I had to let Tim's crew in remotely. They moved the furniture and replaced my whole upstairs (1.2k square feet) before I got home Friday evening. Everything was back in place...it was the most seamless (no pun intended) and hassle free home improvement contract project I have ever embarked on. The carpet and the installation turned out great. I'm very happy with the quality of the work. I highly recommend Tim and his crew. He made things happen very quickly and very well. read more

We just bought a new home and wanted to change out the carpet to new flooring since the builder was charging an excessive amount. We reached out to Tim back in May to start getting quotes even though our home wouldn't be finished until August. From the beginning, Tim was great! He listened to what we wanted and pulled out great samples based on our description. The price was also extremely fair. He continued to follow up with us throughout the construction process and even came out once the house was almost done to make sure all the measurements were correct. He also offered to store the flooring at his warehouse since we didn't know the exact date we would close. We just closed last week and our flooring job is already done. It took less than 3 days, and we are extremely happy with everything! Tim was extremely accommodating throughout the process and made sure everything was done correctly. If you are considering using this company, do a few things first. Read the bad reviews on yelp and expect EXACTLY just that. I was one of the customers that had a HORRIBLE experience working through loads of problems created by the tile installers. The measure of a company is how well they respond to bad situations and I rate the business owner as poor, dishonest, and unprofessional in handling them. He were left to pay for $600+ in grout repairs that his contractors (admittingly) created and We also had to pay for a simple $21 screen repair the installers created. In his response to me honest opinion of the work performed at my house, he will come back and claim the refrigerator he paid us us for was overly generous. They dented our fridge 8 times, not once but 8. Denting the fridge once is an accident. 8 dents, hmm? He will state that he was overly generous in offering that as a settlement. When in fact, to replace the fridge with the same, like and kind, we had to spend over $3000. So that is another $800, my wife and had to eat. I also spent another $200 on trying to get my driveway professionally cleaned of the 20 or so oil stains his contracted employees left on my 8 year old light sand colored driveway. Read reviews on Angie's List. There is a story and pattern in dealing with the owner Tim. I called this company probably 10 times to leave messages for a callback from the owner and he never called me back. After all we have gone thru, over months, he has never called me or my wife after things went south. That's the business owner you will get if you choose him. He will ONLY communicate to you through email if things go bad and he prodly states that. We exchanged over 70 emails trying to work through issues that one or two phone calls would have cleared up. Months of confusion and missed communications. He states its so he has documentation (which is BS) but in turn it just slows things down and leads to constant back and forth and frustration. Also, he does not fully read the emails you send or ignores them, so it is this constant churn of emails that do not get answered. We have been dealing with problems since mid-November. I have asked for payment on a stupid window screen for months that he said he would pay for. (Yes, tile installers can somehow tear your window screen) He has a way of obsolving himself from fault. We opened a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to try to resolve not getting paid on a screen repair, grout staining we had to pay for, from his incomplete work) and to clean the 10-20 spots of oil his contractors left on my 8 yr old $25k driveway. He offered to pay about 1/2 for repairing the grout, which is ridiculous. Why would I agree to pay 1/2 on a problem he created? He claims he mailed the $21 check for the screen repair which is either a flat out lie, or the postal system lost the envelope. In all, the carpet install went VERY smoothly...no problems, at all. The tile on the other hand was a complete goat rodeo. Fly-by-night tile installers. The people he hired to come into our home to lay tile had absolutely no respect for private property or our time. The initial tile project took them 3 days. My wife and I spent an additional 15 days letting more and more people into our home to fix issues they created. Late to the job nearly every day...they tell you 9am and arrive about 11-1pm. They had more than one vehicle dripping oil in several locations in my driveway, they tore a screen window out, they left the tile and grout unfinished under the stove and fridge (as if we would not check there), the tile/grout work under the fridge (they manhandled) was not completed, they washed out the grout color in places leaving various shades of grout as a finished product, they fouled a restroom (no attempt to clean), they took down the plastic barriers we had put up to contain the grout dust before they were done making a dust mess, they ended up replacing over a 100 tiles that they laid that were chipped, they left a chemical residue on the entire surface of the tile, and this is not all. This project has been a nightmare for both me, my wife and the tile company. Wow! We hired Carpets by Conrad to update all of the carpets in our house. I have nothing but compliments for this company. Tim was extremely helpful in choosing the carpet that was right for our family room and upstairs bedrooms. He also answered all of my questions (I've never had to replace carpet, so I had a lot of questions!) We were waiting for other contractors to complete the other work we were doing (with carpet install being the very last item); therefore, I had to move the install date a few times, and they were able to work with me and accommodate our schedule. I am so grateful for their patience. Finally Install day came: the crew arrived at the correct date/time and completed the work around the estimated time frame that Tim initially gave us. Don't be fooled into the cheap installation packages from Lowe's or Home Depot. They Nickel-and-dime you to Death. The $39 installation package from Lowe's ended up being well over $1000 with all the things they tacked onto the quote, and that's for installation only. I needed a turn key company to replace the carpet in my home. That is, move the big furniture, remove old carpet, install new carpet, move the big furniture back to its place and haul away the old carpet. I also wanted a 12 month no interest financing on the balance. I got EXACTLY what I wanted and am extremely pleased with all parts of the service. I reached out to my Facebook friends for recommendations on flooring providers. I was referred to Tim Shanahan of Carpets by Conrad by an old high school classmate. I had previously priced out materials and labor from both Home Depot and Lowes. Although the prices seemed reasonable, both advised me that there were always costs that would be incurred after installation because floors are seldom level. They cannot estimate these costs until after they've torn your original flooring/carpet out. Therefore, there is no way to know if they need to use 1 bag of material to level the floor or 6 bags. When I contacted Tim at Carpets by Conrad he advised that costs were all inclusive and included the costs of leveling the floor. Not only was his quote cheaper than both big box stores, but there was no issue with additional costs. I am extremely pleased with the choice of flooring, the job that was done, and the customer service. I had 2 rooms done with laminate wood flooring and they look fantastic. The job took 1 day. The installers moved all large furniture out after I removed all of the little stuff, this was a big plus for me.
