My wife and I worked with Chad and his team to replace the flooring throughout our entire new construction home (recommended by our realtor Raj Sahoo). This required demolition of tile throughout the first floor, and carpet removal in every bedroom. The job was estimated to take 8 days and started just a few days after we closed around Christmas. Chad was excellent to work with from beginning to end. We did not want shoe molding and he suggested undercutting the baseboards and caulking to give us a very clean look (and to avoid damaging the expensive baseboards we had throughout the home). We chose flooring almost 6 months before we closed after walking through the showroom with him. Crazy enough, the flooring came back extremely darker than we were hoping for and Chad worked with us closely in order to return it and choose a similar flooring that met our needs (we decided to splurge a bit more and get much wider planks). Even through this ordeal, we did not have to pay anything extra as Chad noted the issue wasn't due to a poor choice on our end but a manufacturing issue. The job ended up only taking 5-6 days and the crew (led by Jesus) kept the home extremely clean (as much as possible since demolition of the tile left the home very dusty) and even caulked which we were not expecting them to do. The end result is an extremely beautiful wood floor throughout the home. As a bonus, Chad had his team also come out and sand/stain our starter step to match the wood planks. This is one of the best stain jobs I've seen as it matches almost perfectly. I would definitely use Chad again in the future (though we plan to live in this home for a VERY LONG time lol), and we will be recommending his services to anyone looking for good flooring work. read more

The sale started with Jonathan providing a very competitive quote. It was the best value of all the quotes I solicited. The Total Pro Flooring team arrived on time. They were professionals and did a great install. They had to move furniture to install the carpet. They were careful to not damage the doorways and our furniture. They were also respectful and courteous - something you do not experience with every vendor. I recommend them and I would buy from them again. read more

TL;DR: You can probably do better than this company, especially if you have a complex job. My experience with Total Pro Flooring could be described as a comedy of errors which would end up costing almost $20,000 and leave me disappointed with the final result. My wife and I hired them for demolition of the prior wood floors and the installation of new hardwood and baseboards in every room of the house with the exception of our bathrooms. I'm not going to bash the company for lack of trying because they put in the time, no question on that. I also think they did a decent job on the wood installation (not the baseboards, stairs or transitions). Here are the things that didn't go so well: - They charge you for unused materials. This was disclosed up front. In my case that meant they'd leave me with around $400 worth of extra baseboards and would recommended that I try and sell it on Craigslist. - They apologized for the surplus baseboards and explained that they thought that they were going to be installing baseboards in our bathrooms. This was not the case, we contracted our bathroom floors to another company that was handling their complete renovation. When asked to reduce the cost of labor, seeing as they didn't actually install in those rooms, they materialized extra work to compensate for what would have been refunded (e.g., 2 more buckets of glue, "extra prep"). - They broke a window. I had a replacement in my storage shed so I replaced it myself. We got an estimate for the cost to repair the window. When Total Floors was presented with the estimate, they complained about it being high and instead opted to fix the window that I had already replaced. This took 3 weeks. If I hadn't had a spare, would I have been stuck with a jagged broken window for 3 weeks? - Their baseboard installation lacked attention to detail. I found over 100 protruding brad nails. I was asked to place painters tape on them so they could come back and knock them in. I spent over an hour on my hands and knees doing this. I appreciated that they fixed them but they shouldn't have been there in the first place. - More on baseboards; most of their miter joints didn't line up and still don't. Total Pro Flooring's contractor explained to me that it wasn't their fault and blamed the curvature of the walls and the tape and float. In other words, he passed the buck. This company has an excuse for most things, at least that's my experience. It's worth noting that the baseboards in the bathrooms, with similar curvature, don't have this problem. Given that they acknowledged that the baseboards didn't line up well, shouldn't they have called me to let me know that there was a problem? That's not what happened. I had to point out all the misalignment and then defend my position that this was subpar, as they didn't easily agree. - One of our big renovation investments was to put in a winder staircase. The installation team didn't know how to trim these. They invested a full day trying to get this right with a few failed attempts. We got the work to be passable but it's not the focal point that was intended. I think more transparency about the complexity of this work and the teams lack of experience would have been appreciated here. Again, we weren't flagged that there was a problem. It was up to us to call out shoddy work. This became draining as time went on. - We have a few transitions from wood to tile. Total Flooring purchased a t-molding which doesn't sit flush because the tile is taller than the wood. The transition molding jets out badly enough that you could trip over it. They said that they could swap it out from something else in a few weeks but also warned that replacing it may cause damage to our newly tiled floors. We're going to have it replaced but will look elsewhere for help on that. - They left a mess of scraps on the lawn. - They took an extra day for the initial installation. We're on a tight schedule so this caused a cascading effect. In hindsight, I should have padded their time estimate for them. - We paid them an extra ($250) to place paper over the floors to keep them from damage while the house was to be painted. They forgot to do it. They did come back the next morning but as you can see there seems to be something systemic with Total Flooring that equates to many small inconveniences and ineptitudes that add up to a poor customer experience. My wife and I let Total Flooring know that this wasn't a great experience. They said, "sorry to hear that but we appreciate the payment." There you have it in a nutshell. We paid them in full and are left with a series of imperfections that we're on our own to make right. I'd like to call out that our sales representative, Greg, was a nice guy and means well. We talked about football and our kids. I also don't believe that the company is nefarious but I do believe that their work isn't topnotch and I can't recommend them. read more

This company took a large 50% deposit of almost $20,000 upfront for tile and wood job. 2.5 days into a 4 week job, men WALKED OFF because I was asking too many questions and asking them to cover and protect my floors which they DID NOT DO. They asked me not talk to workers, and when I directed my questions to manager on site, the workers overheard and just picked up their tools and drove away, left my floors all broken up. Even Chad owner could not get his subs to come back! With labor shortage and building demands, subs pretty much dictate when, where, and who they want to work for. The company will try to convince you the laborers work for them, but it is the other way around. The company depends on subs to skim off their labor. I asked questions because they did not have proper equipment to cut my large format porcelain tiles which they claimed they had during the interview before we committed $20K deposit. Total misrepresentation of company's ability to perform job requested. I am very meticulous and have done all my research, so I know the materials and equipment needed. On the FIRST day of the job- they wanted to add on another $500 for "service order" because they forgot to add in original bid to cut 3 inch door trim that my handyman later trimmed off for $30. Nothing changed about the job, except they had to cut 3 inch door trim to tuck tile underneath. Beware of additional costs they will tag on outside of agreed contract when job is EXACTLY same! They even over-measured the size my floor borders to increase price, so make sure you double check because price is base on size. They REFUSED full refund of deposit despite walking off job and breaching contract. I could have sued them to enforce contract, but they had my 20K deposit and it was not worth the headache. They made me buy raw wood material that they ordered wrong size quoted. I didn't hire them to buy wood- could have done that on my own and ordered the right size! BEWARE homeowners, posting this to save you, don't give large deposit upfront because they will have upper hand to walk off job with your money. If you are a real-estate agent or designer, please think twice before you refer this company to your clients unless you want to risk loosing them. My real estate agent apologized to me for referring this company to me. This is my second time in my life I have posted a negative review, so you can imagine how much it took for me to even post this. My loss is your gain. read more

Hi, I had Chad at Total Pro Flooring lay hardwood in my bedroom and carpeting in my whole house. He really worked with me on the numbers and advocated for me when the installers needed to add a strip to ensure that the carpeting met the baseboards. He got it turned around in 2 minutes and it looks beautiful! He also advocated with the hardwood installers to avoid transition pieces between the bedroom/bathroom and the bedroom/kitchen. The result exceeded my expectations. His designer, Caitlin, was a dream to work with and helped me make the right choices quickly and effectively. Working with her gave me the confidence to make choices to meet my timeline and my budget. I will definitely go back to them for future needs. Regarding another post on this site, it's important to understand that the installers work for Total Pro, and they are the ones to interface with when something goes awry, not the lead onsite, who is an independent contractor. We contacted Chad Tafs at Total Pro Flooring on recommendation from our realtor because we were told that he had a lot of crews and could get to jobs pretty quickly. They were right. We had a crew out quickly and the floor installation went great. We are very happy with the end results. We have done about 8 jobs in the last 6 months and this one with Total Pro Flooring ended up much better than the vast majority of them. The team that showed up worked hard all day every day and it was clear that they were proud of the work that they did. Every contracting job is subject to some challenges. You may see feedback on Total Pro Flooring's reviews about communication challenges with Chad. While we also had some of those experiences, I can say with good faith that I believe that Chad is a super-busy guy and pays attention to every detail of every job. Sometimes that may result in delayed or short communication. Once we talked to him about it, he course corrected and we were very happy. I should also note that we didn't make Chad's life easy as we ended up contracted a second job to remodel our stairs in the middle of the flooring job (needed the stairs to be framed out before they could finish the floor). not only did this create some inefficiency, it also caused the job to get modified halfway through and require some additional materials. I wish we would have done more research on the company but we heard Total Pro Flooring was good so we went with them in our newly built home. The Project Manager never really came to check in and see how things were going. Felt like we were not a priority and just a side job. Some of the workers that came to work on the house didn't even know who Total Pro Flooring was and they were asking us for information. The tile that was put in when we built the home was removed and then the new tile was laid same day. After completion we noticed a lot of errors and things not how they said it would be. We tried to get ahold of the guy over this job but he said it just needs cleaned or that's how it is. They removed the cabinet detail on the bottom that we had and broke it while removing it so they could use it and they just told us no one puts those on anyway so you don't need them. There are gaps in the grout, cut markings on the tile that can't get removed, chips in the tile that were covered up with filler instead of just using a new piece of tile which we had plenty of. There is very uneven spots in the tile that chairs get caught on them and rock since the new tile laid wasn't leveled. The tile is now very cloudy since all of the grout wasn't cleaned off. The carpet that they laid back to butt up against the tile I was told was cut wrong by one of the workers so he "did his best" to put it back. It is already rolling back and we have the underside of the carpet showing. It won't stay down and we have to figure out a way to get it back down. At the end of the job we told them about some of these issues and was told just to clean up the tile and it will be fine. We just kept getting asked to sign off on the job because he said he needs to pay the workers. We didn't want the workers angry, which doesn't make sense that they are waiting on our payment, but we were not happy with it and wanted to look through it more but just signed off because he said the workers weren't paid. I have pictures of what I mentioned, we reached out to the project manager again but he won't get back to us, and we still have yet to get a final receipt. read more

Loved my experience! We had all new wood floors and carpet installed in our home which is definitely no small task. Chad, along with Jesus and his team were so considerate of my time and comfort level. It was definitely stressful having the entire house torn up and covered in plastic but they moved quickly and worked hard to finish on schedule, which they did! The install looks pristine and they even cleaned up after themselves which was awesome. We are so happy with our new floors and carpet. Do not use this company! Christina, who prepped the floor, and the guy who installed tile in the half bath were both great. Chad, the owner, was nice and made sure several horrible wood floor concerns were somewhat fixed, BUT overall, it was an awful experience. Gio, the wood installer, did a terrible, terrible job (see photos). He was also very rude and left glue everywhere. The job supervisor just wanted the job done so he could bill our card and pressured us to accept the job as is. That was our mistake. We were just so worn down and disgusted at that point. Update in response to owner: Thanks, Chad. Will call you this week. The project was done seven months ago. The total wood flooring area was 350 sq ft, which included a built-in overage. I am working on a kitchen remodel and needed new porcelain tiles installed. I contacted several companies, but many of them did not service my area. I emailed Total Pro Flooring on a Wednesday night and recieved a response that same night. Chad, the owner came out the next day (Thursday) to take the measurements for my estimate. I chose to go with Chad and his team due to the price, warranty, and availability of install. One week later, Chad's team performed my flooring install in my kitchen, powder room and laundry room. The install took 2 days and was done with quality. The crew lead, Nahum, was professional and on task. He and his brother were helpful and answered all the questions I had during the installation. Total Pro Flooring did the floor and shower in my house. Last week (a year after the shower installation), I found a leak from the shower, I called Total Pro Flooring and they came to check the problem. It ended up being an issue with the fiberglass installation, not the tile. Total Pro Flooring is currently helping us coordinating the fix. They've been really responsive and truly care about us having our shower back. Ill update my review according to how the fix goes. read more

Review is for materials only. They have a good selection of flooring and can order pretty much any flooring you ask for at great prices. They seemed to be able to get it in quicker than other places as well. I had issues with two and half boxes of flooring delivered damaged and unusable. Check your materials before installers arrive. Pushed the completion of my project back 2+ weeks. They didn't offer any replacements or refund. Communication is very poor and lacking at times. You have to pull strings to get ahold of anyone. Note: Materials pick up is at a different location than their showroom at a place with a different name. No mention of this by anyone at the company. We decided to re-do the floors of our entire bottom story. We attempted to get 3 estimates as all house remodeling work should be done. William (TotalPro) responded to us right away and even made a squeeze in his schedule to come out and measure our house that same day. He was the only one out of all 3 companies we contacted (which were all top rated on Yelp) to give us a full detailed estimate along with the floor plan he used to calculate it. The others only gave vague estimates like $8-10 per sqft, etc (William was also very patient with us as we waited for the other companies to get back to us). The showroom had a good sampling of everything; we were getting engineered hardwood for most of the house, tile for the bathroom and carpet for the bedroom. The Tile guys showed up and did a fantastic job in the bathroom, tile looks great. The hardwood guys showed up later and worked on most of the house. They were very friendly and cleaned up after themselves after each day (took about 2.5 days including moving furniture before/after). The carpet guys showed up later and knocked it out in a couple of hours. Overall we are very satisfied with all aspects of the floor work and the baseboards look fantastic as well. read more

Customer Service, Quality Control, and Installation review: Working with Greg was fun in the beginning, I enjoyed going into the warehouse to pick material, the engineered wood floor that I chose is beautiful, and in the beginning he made me feel taken care of and that their service would be "Total Pro" as in totally professional and the total package, but this did not end up being the case. Greg was also "accommodating" when the issues started rolling in but not exactly apologetic. He would say things like, unfortunately this happened, and, I agree this isn't the best looking (after much effort on our part in pointing it out), and then he would follow up with something like, but it's ok because we can fix it. Not, I'm sorry, what can we do for you to make it better? They would fix it to their standards and in their own way, per their policies, without apologies. This especially happened with the installation contractor and his team which are subcontractors and not really under "Total" Pro Flooring control as I found out later, and not able to communicate with me due to a language barrier. Nobody involved with our flooring demo and installation was forthcoming with questionable situations or mistakes nor apologized for any of the several mistakes found and inconveniences had, but instead gave me the feeling that I was being picky and annoying --but they would help me out anyway-- even when things were clearly not my fault as I am not the professional. Weird, awkward and uncomfortable for me as soon as things started going wrong. I do not do well with confrontation (my heart rate is up just writing this) so I had a hard enough time just pointing out anything wrong (let alone several things) and then they would deny it or say that it just had to be that way. Them saying that means that that's the best they could do, so I accepted some disappointment while paying top dollar. They tried to make it right but didn't really do so because it still looks imperfect and I still feel like I did something wrong by asking for better, which would merely be decent. My suggestion is to skip the big companies, find the wood you want at a retailer or warehouse and a good person to do the job with the particular care your investment and your heart deserves. William Tafs and his crew were AMAZING! He came to my house very quickly - literally the same day I started shopping for floors to measure. Talk about responsive! He measured and visited with me, shared a few ideas and I had an estimate in my inbox that same evening - this was a Thursday. I ordered materials the next day to have my entire main floor replaced with wood and a little tile in the master bath - 1800+ sq ft in all, including 2 flights of stairs, and baseboards. By Monday afternoon, he had a prep team at my house, ready to work! Note: I had a very tight timeline...2 weeks to order materials and have it all installed. THEY DELIVERED and kept me informed all along the way. The foreman, Luis was great too, and the install team worked around the clock to meet the timeline. We've used Chad with Total Pro Flooring for four jobs in our home now. (Renovations, flood, addition to the house...) they've done everything from removing laminate and leveling floors to install new wood to replacing damaged wood from a flood, sanding and refinishing it. Every single job is of exceptional work- I'm so relieved I was referred to them several years ago because with all the jobs we've had to do- it's so nice to have your "go to." Honestly, I've never inquired about pricing from any other flooring installer because I've found TPF to be reasonable and of great value. On one job, the floor was placed down in the wrong direction and without hesitation, they ripped it up and laid it the correct way- with no imposition on us whatsoever. I hired them to do the flooring and remodel the shower. Everything was quick and smooth until I made the deposit. The project manager is obvious unexperienced. It's so hard to communicate with him. He rarely returned my calls or emails. He also made a lot mistakes in the contract. I had to tell him almost 5 times to update the contract. After starting working about 2 days, they disappeared two days after that and didn't tell me anything. When I reached out to them, they said they were behind the schedule. That's rude and showing no respect to my time. The worst part is they removed my bathroom floor by mistake. With so many troubles, I decided to end the contract earlier. The owner seems like a nice guy and resolved the problem quickly after that. It seems the installation guys are good though. They did part of the job quickly. From day one everyone took their time to explain the process of changing our carpet to laminate flooring. All employees we were in contact with from Total Pro were very professional and knew their product. From point of sale with Matthew, to William coming by our home and deliver several estimates based on our needs, to the gentlemen that came in to do the flooring, we are very happy with the quality of work we received. We're remodeling the kitchen and wanted to put in Travertine. The Gen contractor doesn't deal with Travertine so we hunted around. While we were at it we we decided to consider also tiling the downstairs bath with the same stuff. Chad's estimate for both was little more than half what the gen contractor wanted for just the kitchen. On the day the tiling was starting, the installer noted that there were some cracks which weren't a huge concern but he thought over time could possibly crack the tile and recommended treating the floor to mitigate - Chad was immediately available to quickly help me consult with the general contractor to decide how to proceed.
