Upon entering the restaurant is pretty huge and open. Didn't seem like the heat was working though. My original table was in direct line of the front door and I kept getting a draft of cold air so I asked to move to the back. Service was slow in the beginning. We see waiters standing around but it took awhile for someone to come to my table. But after that a lot of random staff members came to the table to check on my party. Food wise, the free bread and pesto (?) sauce was just ok. Nothing exciting and I love bread by the way. The bruschetta appetizer was my favorite thing of the night. Really enjoyed the balsamic glaze! For my entree I got the fettuccine alfredo. Good portion size and for $9 you get five shrimp (eh I think for the price I would have liked a few more shrimp). The alfredo sauce was really good. It was just too monotonous after awhile. Very flavorful and rich. I think adding mushrooms or spinach would be a good compliment to the dish if I ordered it again. Came here to celebrate a birthday and we really enjoyed our experience! 5 stars for the food. We had made a reservation for 6 about a week prior and when we arrived they seated us promptly. They brought out bread for the table (with delicious pesto olive oil) and I ordered the Chicken Piccata. It was very creamy and lemony and the flavors were outstanding. The portion size was also exactly right. Others had ordered the Pizza Bianca, Chicken Alfredo, Lasagna, and Spaghetti Bolognese and they all agreed that the food was fantastic. The interior of the restaurant was classy and they have some cool and trendy photo spots. We had told our waiter that we had a birthday at the table and he kindly offered a complimentary slice of chocolate mousse, which was also outstanding. We went on a saturday night and it was super busy so the service was slow. At one point we had asked 2 different servers for more bread and some extra spoons for the cake, which they did not bring, but we could tell they were doing the best that they could given they each had a million tables to take care of. Otherwise, the food gets 5 stars! I will most certainly be back again and highly recommend celebrating special occasions at Flavio! read more

I would absolutely visit this restaurant again and again. And here is why: Greetings/ Hostesses: From the door until being seated at my table, the hostesses were all very warm and friendly. But most importantly, accommodating. They immediately adjusted my accommodations because some of my party members were extremely late. However , that did not stop the hostess from getting me inside from the cold and also offering to seat me at the table to wait for my party. Waiter: I only wish that I was better with names to add my waiter's name here. He was the BEST and fastest on the floor. An older gentleman with a beautiful accent and warm smile. He tended to the needs of my party even with some of them missing and never hassled us to order or do anything until we were ready. He frequently checked in on us and never hesitated to provide us with things needed for the table. This man was amazing! He didn't miss a beat and although working many tables on a busy Valentine's Day, he was very attentive to mines. Food: Oh where do I begin. The breadsticks and garlic sauce infused with parsley and other herbs was absolutely enticing and easy to fill up on before your meal. Next, our waiter recommended the spinach salad because of the sweet strawberry mix and savory addition of walnuts, goat cheese and a lite dressing. Great choice!!!!! For my entrees, I decided to get the lobster Diablo and let me tell you this yelpers, you cannot go wrong with this choice. It was loaded with seafood: scallops, shrimps, and lobster. The creamy tomato sauce paired with fresh mushrooms all mixed into pasta was DELICIOUS! I only wished that I would have ordered one for the next day....It was just that good! Lastly, dessert. I decided to do the tiramisu...ummm unmmm ummmm delicious! Ambiance: I did not go to the restroom so I can only speak for the main dining area and this place gives you a feel of Italy, intimacy, and sweet ambiance! The music was just right. The tables were spaced away from each other, but near enough to connect parties to one another. The curtain draping, brick oven, exposed bricks...ahhhhh I loved it. The reviews for this restaurant in a glance looked promising and the wait was long! We had tried to get into several other restaurants, but landed on this one based on the reviews, and the number of people wanting to eat there! I do not know why this restaurant has a four-star review. The food was terrible. I'm a foodie, and I know I have high standards, but this was really just not good! They brought some kind of bread and dip before and I have no clue what it was but the bread was hard. We ordered a pizza, lasagna, and the fungi ravioli. I was so excited for the fungi ravioli because I love a great ravioli, and this one promised truffle! I don't know what was on the plate I got. The ravioli was dry and stuffed full of mushrooms more than you could ever imagine! The sauce looked and tasted disgusting and there was no truffle! The ravioli was mediocre at best, and the pizza came out with the dough not fully cooked! I will say that when I told them about the dough, they kindly removed that item from the check! I do think that was great customer service! I remember this place from paper moon. The look and feel is much lighter and grander when you walk into the grand room up the pillars tot he elevated additional seating area. They take advantage of the natural lighting to fill the space during the afternoon we were here. To eat, I tried the ricotta gnocchi, meatballs and the bread with olive oil/pesto. This was ordered up family style and shared between the table. The gnocchi was very delicate and flavorful. È stato delizioso! The meatballs were juicy and savory. It didn't need the sauce but the sauce complemented different flavors within - especially good when adding a bit of the topped ricatta. Bellissimo! It is def hard to accommodate a large group, but Flavio had multiple servers and runners attending to our table - which made us feel welcomed and relaxed. We have loved Flavio for years. The food is delicious (even the starter bread basket) and the staff is extremely attentive and friendly. What a surprise! The flavors and ambiance were amazing! The calamari was decent, the pieces were on the smaller size and texture was okay. The batter was great though (I love calamari in general). The lobster diavolo was really good! A little salty for my taste I would have appreciated some bread with this dish because it was a touch salty. The shrimp dish (in pics) was a home run!! Light tasty flavors but really packed a punch! High recommend. The mushroom ravioli was also unique and delicious. The tiramisu is high recommend too! Light and fluffy. We were on a food tour and we were fortunate enough to try their huge gnocchi and meatballs. They were delish! I don't typically like gnocchi but it was so creamy and rich. They started with bread and pesto sauce, that's flavorful. I knew that this place will be really good with just the bread and the sauce. They didn't disappoint. I would like to come back here again but my husband said it was okay, which I don't know what he's talking about because he got second serving on all the food they gave us. I came to Flavio for dinner and was not disappointed (by the food at least). Upon arriving, the host failed to greet me. Instead, one of the servers greeted me. I asked to be seated inside, but the host told the server to seat me outside. When the server mentioned I wanted to sit inside, he then agreed. However, his attitude was that of carelessness. Instead of greeting me and organizing staff, the host seemed to be completely occupied with flirting. Despite the initial poor service, everything got better once I was seated. My waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and promptly took my order. I had the Calamari for my appetizer. The calamari was absolutely delicious! It was crispy yet not excessively greasy. Additionally, the dipping marinara was some of the best marinara I've ever tasted. For my entree, I had the Wild Mushroom Ravioli. The mushroom ravioli was good, but it didn't impress me as much as the calamari. Overall, the mushroom ravioli was on par with the mushroom ravioli I've had at other Italian restaurants. read more

The staff and our server was great, but unfortunately the rest was not. They sat us at a table in the back where it was so dark you couldn't see the menu (not exaggerating). We needed to turn our phone flashlights on to see it. Then. we noticed all the stains on the table cloth, like marinara sauce that could have stained our sleeves if we weren't careful. However the salad was a little disappointing and sad plate with a few sprinkled strawberries and red onions. But the dressing was light and fresh. The lasagna was a lot of sauce and the texture of pasta was great, but the cheese didn't crust as much and wasn't a plate or casserole as we expected. We didn't find out about it till we received the check, and noticed the entrees seemed pricey and asked the server about it. He told us that we got the dinner portion and I replied with "you never clarified the different sizes of entrees", he replied with you should've known based off how big my entree came out. We sat outside on a slightly chilly fall evening and the heaters were plenty to keep us all warm. The interior decor of the restaurant is gorgeous, and the service was outstanding. Anthony was super attentive and very fun to talk to! We shared the margherita pizza (very good, although a bit heavy on the cheese), the formaggi antipasti (super simple but also delicious), and then split dessert (also fantastic). This is a quiet little spot. Perfect to catch up and talk. I suppose ir was a Tuesday night, but they did not rush us in the least. We are inside because it wad cold out, but the fire features outside looked cozy. Anthony carne right away to offer us drinks, but when we weren't ready, he gave us space. But when we wanted something or our glass got nearly empty, he was Johnny-on-the-Spot. We were very well attended. The pizza selection looked awesome, with options of seafood toppings and one with salmon and artichokes. (Chokes are the best on pizza!) But we went with pastas, and my Ricotta Gnocchi were so light and fluffy! And the cream sauce was delicious. The fried calamari appetizer was also very flavorful and tender. The food gave me very mixed feelings... the calamari was very soft inside, the salad was ok but the promised anchovies were nowhere to be found. My friends and I spontaneously came here after doing some shopping in Georgetown. They have really cute outdoor seating on a street next to a bunch of other restaurants. We started with a bottle of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Calamari, which was great (can't really go wrong with the classic). We all tried different pastas - Chicken Parmesan, Wild Mushroom Ravioli (they have the name as Funghi Ravioli on the current menu (not really sure why... lol)), Penne Arrabbiata w/ Meatballs and Capellini Pomodoro w/ Meatballs. One thing to note is that while the mushroom ravioli was yummy, the portion was definitely significantly smaller than the rest of the pastas. I would not recommend getting that if you're actually hungry as all of the other pastas were delicious as well. read more

Wow. This restaurant exceeded our expectations. I had the chicken Parmesan and was hesitant to order because I'm picky about marinara sauces - I ordered anyway with the assurance of the waiter. He was right. It was the perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. The thin crunchy chicken to add texture with the al dente spaghetti noodles made this an amazing dish. My friend had chicken Alfredo with angel hair pasta noodles. I finished her plate because, well, I love food. It was the best Alfredo I've ever had, honestly. We checked in on yelp and got the chocolate mousse cake free. It was PERECT. Silkly and chocolatey. Like a light velvety cheesecake almost, and less of an airy mousse. I came to Flavio with a friend one cold evening. While I have avoided even outdoor dining since pretty much the start of the pandemic, I was enticed by the little heated dining bubbles (pods? Not sure what to call them, but they look like bubbles, so there ya go). The waiters only entered when bringing or removing dishes, and they took care to stay outside the bubble when checking to see if we needed anything by coming to the outside and asking. Very thoughtful in that way. The little fire centerpiece actually goes a long way for warmth. Ours went out after a while and we quickly asked for another! Flavio has a nice selection of wines from a variety of locales, with an expected emphasis on Italy. We had a 2019 Montepuciano (Abruzzo) that was fairly classic and easily drinkable. The veal piccata was nice--just a touch in the tough side for me, although it was a very nice meal overall. Visited this restaurant in the evening and noticed they had bubbles you could eat in outside. The idea of it is super cute, but the location isn't the nicest. There were big road closure signs and it just made the area look unappealing. Also, it was super cold out and they didn't have heaters inside the bubbles so we opted to dine inside. Staff wore masks and guests were spaced out. Although there weren't many people in the restaurant, there was still a very long wait to receive drinks and food. It seemed like there was only one waiter working. When we finally received our food we enjoyed it. All in all it seems that long wait times is the norm for Flavio but honestly the food & service is pretty good so I will still return. read more

I guess I had higher hopes of this place given the reviews that I had seen. It isn't a bad place at all, but it really had a lot of points to improve upon. I had the Flavio's pizza, which on paper sounded good. The issue that I had was that the crust was a tad undercooked. It was chewy and it could have been better if it was in the oven for another minute. As for the flavor, it was mainly the cheese that was carrying the pizza and not the sauce or the seafood toppings. All I really tasted was the cheese. Another dish that I got was the fettuccine Alfredo. It's a simple dish and I have had it several times by now, but the taste of this one was really cheese heavy. It overpowered the dish by a lot and it was hard to enjoy after half of it was done. I needed some more bread on the side to help me. The interior was nice and they had some outdoor seating and cute pink beers and pink champagne glasses that would draw people in. Unfortunately, the table that I was seated at was quite wobbly. I wished this would have been fixed, but at that point in time, I just decided to just tough it out. I enjoyed being in the atmosphere, but I think the drinks were probably the highlight of the night. I wished the food matched it. read more
