My car is my baby and my buddy, and my car-savvy father is 1,000 miles away. I am also pretty anxious. I am probably every dishonest mechanic's dream customer. Luckily, I have been going to the Flatirons Subaru service center for the past seven years. One of the things I really appreciate about them is they keep on top of what maintenance I need (which I always double-check with my manual and google, and it's always spot-on) and they tell me what exactly I can put off, what needs to be done sooner rather than later, and what I should do immediately. I never feel pressured, and I feel that they always respect my decisions. I know a lot of people say you shouldn't get your car serviced by a dealer because they rip you off, and I was starting to doubt. A few years ago, I talked to one of the top-Yelp-rated Subaru repair shops in the Denver-Boulder area to get quotes on prices for some of the repairs I had gotten. The quoted prices were right in line with what I paid at Flatirons, so I've been confident ever since. All of the service reps I have dealt with over the years here have been great. Ryan has been a familiar face this whole time, and he is very knowledgeable and calm when explaining things to me. Kristen M. has (unfortunately for her) answered the phone the past three times I have had a car-related crisis, and she's always been able to talk me down and tell me exactly what I need to hear and do in a professional but warm manner. Today Mathias H. helped me check out, and he went through each repair carefully and thoroughly and was able to answer all of my questions. I always walk through the door feeling relieved and in capable hands. Sometimes my repairs last through several service rep's shifts, like this last time, and I never worry that I will be assigned to someone less than stellar. Really, I only need a few things from a car repair shop: honesty, integrity, and quality service, but the clean waiting room, free tea, and really nice shuttle drivers help push this over the top. I am absolutely a happy and satisfied customer, and would definitely recommend. read more

Pete Seabrook and everyone at Flatirons Subaru were a pleasure to work with as they helped me buy my first car

I had a great experience buying a 2020 Forester from Jake. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. They were able to beat the price of other local Subaru dealers and got me the exact car I wanted. Highly recommend! read more

I didn't purchase my Subaru Outback here, but since moving to Colorado I have continually brought my car to this dealership for service. At first, it was just standard oil changes and tire rotations and I was very, very impressed. However, after a few months in Colorado, my Outback began making a ridiculous pinging/knocking sound when going up an incline. Long story short, I ended up taking my Outback here three times to have the issue fixed. Each time, they indicated that they knew it was a known problem for Subarus at this altitude but always offered some advice on how to help the problem (buy higher grade gas, octane booster, etc.). After an intense winter, I noticed that the sound was getting worse. Not only did it make the sound on incline, but it started to make the sound at all times--taking off from a red light, sitting at idle, etc. I live in Denver, so I decided to take my Outback to Shortline Subaru in Denver to have it looked at for a second opinion. The moment I walked into Shortline, I immediately missed Flatirons. I missed the friendly staff, the nice waiting area, the reliable accommodations, and the genuine concern to fix my car. Ultimately, Shortline came to the same conclusion that Flatirons did: there's no fix to the car. But they handled the situation completely differently: they handed me back my keys and promptly closed the garage door behind me. I left intensely frustrated. (Side note: switching to the highest-grade Conoco gas fixed the problem... I think.) It was then that I realized the real value of Flatirons. Even though the outcomes were the same, I felt like those at Flatirons were on my side and I didn't have to advocate for myself to have the problem fixed. They seemed as genuinely frustrated as I was that the problem couldn't be fixed. Not so at the other dealership. So, if you're in Denver, I wholeheartedly recommend making the trek out to Boulder to get any service done at Flatirons. Get an early appointment, enjoy the beautiful ride to Boulder, take a nice walk down to Ozo Coffee, and rest easy, knowing you'll be taken care of. read more

I do not blame these guys for trying to make as much money as they can on a deal. However, we were looking to lease a crosstrek from them and they came to us with an absolutely ridiculous offer for the lease. We took our business to Valley Subaru in Longmont and walked away with a lease payment $177 lower per month!! Yes, you read that correctly! $177 a month lower!! Again, I am fine with them trying to make a buck but the offer was incredibly offensive! read more

24 hours before leaving town to drive across the country, I received a letter in the mail telling me that my catalytic converter and fuel pump had been recalled on my 2008 Forester. The letter implied that everything would be fine as long as I didn't drive at high speeds at high altitudes. You know, exactly what I was planning to do for the *next three weeks*!!! I had no interest in trying to get the work done in Oakland, so I made an appointment to get everything fixed halfway through my journey. I'd been to Flatirons Subaru in a previous life, so I knew I could expect quality work. An added bonus was that I could make my service appointment online - love being able to take care of these things at 3am without having to talk to a human! The appointment was scheduled to take an hour, and while it took twice as long, the waiting area is comfy and I didn't mind. The free wi-fi is a HUGE perk. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and knowledgeable - a step up from the experiences I've had at the Oakland Subaru. I was also impressed with the number of people who arrived without appointments and were taken care of relatively quickly. There's also a shuttle service to take you into town if you don't want to wait. Minus one star for making my car smell like crap. I had to literally open the doors and air it out for a good hour after arriving back at my parent's house. Maybe it had something to do with the fix, but I don't know... it was really, really, REALLY pungent. read more

We want to say a big thank you to Service Manager Ryan Nuckles and his great team of service advisors. Every time we have had an issue with our 2018 Subaru their customer service has been outstanding. They have consistently gone out of their way to fix every little issue that comes up. We live in the mountains of Colorado but we drive all the way to Boulder for our service needs and we will be buying our next Subaru from Flatirons Subaru, because of the way they do business. Thanks for being exceptional! read more

I was referred to Flatirons Subaru by another dealer in Denver. Unfortunately, Flatirons has an employee that is not honest. He lied to us about a car they had in stock and then talked bad about one of the cars we were looking at. He just wanted us to buy the first car we looked at and was annoyed when we wanted to look at other options. Flatirons has a car in stock that we would love to buy, however, they have a sales rep preventing that from happening. The owner of the dealership really needs to look at the rep with the initials B.S., he has another review accusing him of bait and switch and we got the same feeling. Will let our friend, who is a manager at a dealer in Denver, know that he should not refer to Flatirons. read more

Purchased my first Subaru from Flatirons, an Outback 3.6R. Start to finish, this purchase experience was the smoothest and most pleasant of any car buying experience ever. The specific vehicle I wanted (color, features, accessories, etc.) wasn't available. So Flatirons, without any down payment or contract requirement, located one which was expected into another nearby dealership and ordered it for me. When the vehicle arrived at Flatirons, I was notified and invited in to take however much time I needed to test drive the vehicle and make certain it was what I wanted. Even though I asked a ton of questions with regard to lease vs. purchase, every question was answered in a complete, patient and thorough fashion. The actual purchase was carried out expeditiously, in a relaxed, yet professional, atmosphere, where I didn't feel pressured into making a decision before I was ready. A few days after I purchased the car, Flatirons called just to check in and ask how I liked my new Outback and to see if I had any questions. Nice customer service follow up... which I appreciated very much. The car is great so far... can't wait to give it a work out in the snow. read more

I had a recall notice for which I made an appointment. At the time I asked how long it would take to determine if I needed to make arrangements to be picked. I was told it was a 1-1.5 hour repair. For that I decided I could wait. Therefore, I scheduled time off work. On the day of the repair I showed and was told that it was a 4 hour repair. They do offer a shuttle service but as I live near Erie they would not drive me home. Since I had not made arrangements to be picked up or scheduled enough time off work I had to take my car back and simply go back to work. The whole process cost me over two hours of work. read more

I bought a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse from this place on August 22, 2020 for $17,500 cash, with a 90 day warranty on anything that went wrong with the vehicle. On August 26, 2020 the service all wheel drive light came on. We called the dealership and took the vehicle back in for service the very next day, did not get the vehicle back until September 2, 2020. It seems the differential clutch and rear pinion seal needed replacement. Then on October 29, 2020 there was a clunk sound and wobble in the left front tire and now the transmission was overshooting(high rev of the engine prior to actually shifting). Took back to Flatiron Subaru for repair on November 3, 2020, they replaced the left front a-arm, tie rod, ball joint and did an alignment. Since they are not familiar with Chevrolet transmissions they sent it McCadden GMC and they said the reason that was happening was because the transmission was a quart low on fluid, sounded odd but they are the experts right? Now its the holiday season and we begin having troubles again with the vehicle, service all wheel drive light again and transmission issues, but waited till things calmed down and called Flatiron after the new year. Was told by Jen the service advisor on February 3, 2021 that after checking their records I was outside of the warranty and would need to speak with Sales and see if there was anything they could do. So I called our original salesman Travis Borek the very same day explained the entire situation and he said he would need to talk to his boss, he never returned my call. February 4, 2021 took the vehicle to Century Chevrolet, a dealership I trust and they said a transmission cooler line was leaking and this is why the transmission was a quart low on fluid, also there is a bulletin out from GM about the very transmission issue I was having and it was a simple fix of replacing the valve body. Got back vehicle on February 10, 2021. Unfortunately transmission issue resurfaced on February 13, 2021. March 2, 2021 returned vehicle to Century and after further investigation they found out transmission may need to be replaced since valve body issue had been neglected for so long(1st noticed Oct 29, 2020 while still under warranty from Flatiron). March 5, 2021 called back our salesman Travis about the issue again and the fact that he never returned my call, he informed me that maybe the vehicle they sold me may not be a good one and maybe I should trade it back in with them for a New Subaru. Now this rubbed me the wrong way completely. Escalated my issue to the Sales Manager Travis Graves(talk about a guy that has no couth) and he asked if paying for the valve body and trans cooler line($1,563.00) would resolve the issue. Well considering those things should have been taken care of under the original warranty I said yes. Travis said he would need to get approval from his boss. April 19, 2021 still no return call(anyone surprised?) so I call and leave a message for Travis Graves to return my call about the money or the repairs. Surprisingly he returns my call and tells me they are not willing to pay for any repairs that were done at the Chevrolet dealership(the actual people that found all the issues). So here we sit with a vehicle we purchased 6 months ago that is not drivable and has spent half of the time we owned it in the shop, did I mention the trans replacement was $6,000! Never ever use this shady dealership, they don't check the used vehicles out at all and will look for whatever way possible to leave you footing the bill. read more

Stay away from this place, I made an appointment to buy a car for my son, we were asked to be at the dealership at 5, we showed up an Zachary Beck was a no show, waited for 30 min until a different sales person came out and said the car was gone since early in the day, managers were a no show either, a polite sales person came and Fred Rudd became our new sales guy, we left a deposit for a car with hail damage and a need for a new bumper, I agreed to the price as the car had recently arrived (apparently) Fred asked me for a $500 deposit and put pressure by saying "there was some one else wanting to buy the car", the next day they told me that the car had major issues and asked me to check with my mechanic on a list of stuff given to me that was found, the work needed was for over $4,500, plus hail damage and new bumper, Fred Rudd said $1,000 would be reduced from the price after knowing the car needed $4,500, plus hail damage plus a bumper, then Fred put pressure by saying "someone else wanted to buy the car", a real scam, they kept my deposit for two weeks until I decided to call their accounting department after several attempts, once they saw I was pushing into legal ways to get my money back, they refunded the money within minutes. Unprofessional and fishy transactions, stay away! read more

Kyle made couldn't have made the entire car buying experience easier. From the moment I stepped into Subaru Flat Irons until I got the car, I felt like I was in good hands. We did most of our correspondence through the Subaru texting system because of Covid, which couldn't have been easier. Well, were to start about this nightmare...Today 10/28/2021 I took my Subaru Outback 2020 to Flatirons dealership in Boulder and unfortunately I had the bad luck to deal with one of the employee at the front desk, Rachel Volesky, who doesn't even know the cars that she dealing with. Unfortunately for her, I KNOW CARS. Let's start from the beginning. As I said I took an appointment for service and because I brake the fog light and the bumper hitting an animal (I live in a canyon), not a major brake, but the car is not even 2 years old and I want it keep nice and tidy. This woman asked me if there was any other problem and I told her that one of the rim need to be paint because it was scratched. When we purchased the car we add ALL the things, from weather damages, glass, services, rim scratches.....everything, and we still pay for these "services". She said to me that for the rim I need to take another appointment. Then I told her that from the past 7/10 days I start to hear squeaky noise from the desk board after driving for a while. About these squeaky noise on the way to the dealership this morning I made 3 different recording with my phone, and you can clearly hear the noise. After 3 hours she came to pick me up from the waiting room, and here is were to negligence and poor understanding of cars from this woman begin. I asked if the squeaky noise was fixed, but she said (I am reading the report)"technician test drove the vehicle, however, technician did not hear any clicking noise coming from behind the steering wheel. No issue". I asked how long he drove the car because this squeaky noise happen after 10/ 15 minutes of driving, she repeat only that no issue was found. At that point I was a bit annoyed by this person who talked to me like she know better, but she don't. I told her that I have 3 different recording of this noise and if she want to hear it, she won't to listen. Then I asked about the bumper and she told me that for this kind of things I need to go to a body shop, I asked why they can't replace it, and she said because some painting is involved. And this is where she made a mistake, The bumper of the Subaru Outback doesn't need painting because is a dark grey raw piece of plastic, IS NOT PAINTED. When I let her notice that the bumper is not painted, she repeat the same thing. I would like to know if the mechanic at Flatirons are certified Subaru mechanic or just generic, because to take down a bumper and replace it with the new one it doesn't look to me a scientist problem. At this point I was boiling, so I asked this person to speak to a manager about these problem because it look like this person doesn't have a clue about what she was talking about, and she said that there wasn't any manager in the facility....BULLSHIT, when I was waiting my car I saw 1 man with 2 women looking at the new part of the building and even if these people weren't, how can you tell me that there is not a manager in. So, she told me that if I want to speak to a manager I need to take an appointment (another one), I said ok.....first appointment available 30 of November. At that point I took the key of my car, she walked me out, pointed my car and returned inside. While I was waiting for services I bought a cover seat for the back bench and a harm rest cover, I need to go back in the next few days to bring them, and I will go upstairs to see if there is a manager or not. I already wrote an email to Subaru America and left a message, I am waiting for a call back, and that will be a really fun call for me. This is a second new Subaru Outback, I gave them almost 80K and this is how they treat their customer. Is always the same, when you need to buy a new car, they smile at you, they are gentle, once you put your sign on that piece of paper, you are just another cash cow. PS. This wonderful woman forget to gave the appointment to fix the rim...unbelievable. PPS. Hey Yelp, you should consider to allow people to give zero star, sometimes (like now for me) 1 star is even too much. Ho! I forgot to tell you the most fun part. The woman told me that they can sell me the new part (bumper) and I can replace it myself....now Subaru became like IKEA, I wonder if with the part they can give you the instructions and the tools read more

We just had the worst service experience ever at Flatirons Subaru. We waited 2 and a half hours in the waiting room for them not to service our car. We had an appointment. They did not keep us updated until we asked. A part needed to be ordered but they never told us until we asked. We were headed out of Colorado the next day so therefore we will have the work done at another place. They never gave us the part number. When we called the parts department to get the information, he said he could not help us. We purchased our car from them, we will never go back and recommend you find another Subaru dealership. I'm Yelping! Bought a 2016 Forester Touring model for $43,000 with an extended warranty less than 2 years ago and have had problems from the start. Service neglected to set the car indicator to notify me it was time for an oil change - third time I requested they write on my receipt that I'd requested it and this time it was set correctly. Last month the battery went dead. Early but not alarming. The "check engine" light and eyesight malfunction dash lights stayed on and the car ran rough and almost stalled out several times. Took it in and they performed a diagnostic which didn't determine anything. I was told it was safe to drive until my appointment which they scheduled for the following week. I bought it in two days early due to thick, black smoke coming out of the exhaust. It also almost stalled out several times while driving it to Flatiron's Subaru. I was informed they had no available loaner cars so I had to rent a car for two days and they did not even offer to reimburse me. The problem continued so I took it back an hour after picking it up. This time they provided a loaner car but charged me $50 stating I was required to pay the deductible to use the extended warranty. This car is less than two years old with under 44000 miles on it. I spoke with the sales manager and he informed me his hands were tied and recommended I call Subaru Corporate. I will not recommend Flatiron's Subaru to anyone. I spent $43,000 total on a car that was a lemon and received the cold shoulder when I spoke with management looking for a win/win solution for all parties. read more

I came to buy my first car, a Subaru Impreza, last month here after trying another local dealership that I found slick and ready to take advantage of my car-buying ignorance. At Flatirons Subaru, I had a wonderful experience with Mark Berger. He's uniquely low-key, no-pressure, (not what I expected from salespeople going into the process of buying my first car) and works hard for his customers. I sort've knew what I wanted, but as a first-time car buyer, I was a bit nervous about the process and was hoping to find someone who could educate as well as sell me a car- Mark the perfect answer. He quoted me a lower, reasonable price, walked me through the car completely, and was very flexible about my schedule during the process. He worked super hard with the also very nice finance manager to arrange the financing that I needed to buy it. Although I've only had the car a couple hundred miles, I came back with the car after I felt the brakes were soft and the transmission was a little off. Mark arranged for Keith, a technician, to ride along with me and check out the car- after having Keith (very knowledgable and helpful) do that with me, I felt assured. Overall, just a great experience with this dealership and Mark, and I feel good about buying my first car from them. read more

I think that excellent customer service usually shows most when things are the worst. My experience at Flatirons truly exemplifies this idea. Me and my girlfriend bought our first new car here: a 2013 Subaru Forester. We had a very smooth experience when we bought the car and had no complaints whatsoever. Shea, who handles financing, was especially helpful, friendly and courteous. It was after we drove the car home that things got bad. Within a few weeks, we began having problems starting the car; it would struggle to start for sometimes as long as 30 seconds before turning over. The car was brand new and obviously we were pretty upset to be having issues already. The service department here is alright; I did have to call them after about 5 days and ask where my car was when initially they said it would be around 3 days. This is when things went from bad to worse. They informed me that my car was experiencing a "known issue" with the cam and they were working to fix this. When asked why this "known issue" was not checked before I was sold the car, I was informed that a "known issue" is not the same as a "service bulletin," which is apparently something they would have checked before selling me the car. I do not fault the mechanics here for this policy; it is obviously Subaru's decision to use semantics to decide which problems warrant an inspection before a customer purchases a vehicle. I waited a few more days and then was called and told my car had been fixed. We stopped in to pick it up and met with the sales manager and service manager, who informed us they never pinpointed the exact issue with our vehicle, but that they had inserted a shim under the cam and had managed to get the desired reading on their tests. I tried explaining to the mechanic that I really did not think this was acceptable and that, for lack of a better term, I felt like my car had been ghetto rigged. I looked up later what exactly a shim is and it is "a crude piece of metal inserted into machinery to reverse the effects of aging." So I stand by what I said. Also, this was not something I wanted wedged in my brand new car's engine. Well, to no one's surprise, we began having the same issue in no time at all. We brought the car in again and this time a few days passed, then I was called by the service manager and told my car "was of great interest to Subaru" and that they wanted to send a team of engineers to come look at it. This is when I ran out of adjectives to describe how bad the situation had become. By this time, I felt that if my car was of such "great interest" to Subaru, they should just keep it and let their engineers have a field day performing all kinds of tests on it to prevent other people from buying a vehicle with the same issue. I told them that they should do this and give me a new car that worked properly. At first, I did not think it was going to happen. In fact, it took a lot of back and forth. But in the end, Flatirons worked with us and the main Subaru office--because when I called them on my own they were useless--to get us a brand new Forester. I wish that my first new car purchase had gone much more smoothly, but I never fault a business for things that they cannot control. Subaru was in no way obligated to give us a new car; no where in my warranty did it say that if my car were to break down before a certain amount of time had passed that it would be replaced. And I do not think that I could have gotten a new car working solely with the main Subaru office. Thank you, Flatirons Subaru! You really turned a bad situation around! read more

Terrible experience. We bought cars from them when they still sold Acuras. Among my family alone we bought 4 and have sent multiple people to them.
