I asked "before" purchasing an iHome Cup Phone Holder (to be able to see GPS) if I could return the holder if it didn't fit my car (I was from out-of-town and not in my car at the store) and was told yes. 30 minutes after the purchase I come back to return it as it didn't fit and I was told to come back in a couple days to see the manager, because they couldn't refund it. When I return, the manager accuses me of being a problem by not having given them my phone number and he refused to refund & take the product back. I was also told I was holding up other customers, yet the manager kept all of us waiting while he hung outside the store talking to people. Truly, I have never been treated so rudely in a situation where not of this should have been a problem! I'm never going back there! Thank goodness there are other options for auto parts. It wasn't a pleasant way to end my Labor Day vacation! read more

This is a review of AAP in general, corporate/company, not for the local stores. Bought a lifetime warranty alternator and two years later it failed to charge, leaving me stranded. An expensive tow home and return to the store showed the alternator was bad on their tester. But..., they no longer have an alternator for my vehicle (older Mercedes diesel) in their system. So..., they refunded me. But the refund went to a card that is no longer valid and it did not go to my new card number (same bank/account, different card number). Repeated calls to corporate and they claim that it can take 3 months to come back to them (in this day of computerized ACH's and such, this is complete bollocks!), then they'll refund me in another way. So I'm out the money for this "lifetime" (made in China rebuild, so "lifetime" just means the lifetime of the crappy rebuild) AND have to fork out ANOTHER $200 for one from Napa. The manager at my bank wrote a letter that they've checked my account and it has had no transfers, returns, etc., in the amount that Advance claims they refunded. Advance corporate doesn't care, they're just glad that they got my money and will never refund me. I've shifted to buying my own and parts for customers vehicles from other sources now. read more

Really easy and made everything a little more efficient. Brett was a huge help taking out my old battery and helping me get the new one installed. He recommended some items to help extend the longevity of the battery and helped install those as well. Really nice guy with some fun stories. I recently took my car to Fischer Honda to get some recalls taken care of. They noticed that my check engine light was on and offered to get it diagnosed - for $150. This was frustrating because all I wanted to do was get the computer code checked; if the problem was something simple, I could just fix it myself. Rather than pay up, I figured I could buy my own OBD2 reader for less than what they wanted and read the code myself, so I headed over to Advance. I talked with Chad and he showed me the readers they had, but he started asking me why I wanted a reader in the first place. I told him my story and he said that they offered free reads anyway if I didn't want to buy a reader myself, so I did that. The problem was with my EVAP system; Chad popped off my gas cap and checked it and sure enough there was a crack in it that was preventing the system from forming a vacuum. $12 later and I had a new gas cap and no check engine light. I was so happy that I ended up buying new windshield wipers from them too. They'll even swap out your old ones for you. I'll definitely be coming back here when I need parts or help. read more

Just came in here after both my low beams happened to go out at the same time. I was greeted by Steve when i came in who took car of me the whole time i was there. The service was great, we first looked at my car and took out the headlights to make sure it was the low beams becuase i was worried it may be something else. This store is outstanding! Have been there a few times and always amazing helpful, knowledgeable service. Went in with a battery that kept losing charge. I'd bought the battery there 2 years ago and it was still on warranty. Chad did an awesome job of testing the battery and overall system. There was some doubt as to whether the drain was from some short in the system, or if the battery was just worn out. He finally determined the battery was in fact losing charge even though it checked out ok initially. He swapped out the battery on warranty. These guys rock - they have my business for life! They helped me replace a Jeep headlight. Because of rust it must have taken them 15 minutes, but it was all part of their free service. I had a great experience at Advanced Auto Parts in Boulder. Hey, we're all human. When I noticed that I had inadvertently been charged twice for a small purchase made a couple of weeks ago (by a new employee), I returned to Advance Auto Parts and explained to Adam what had happened.
