Efforts to make things right are less than satisfying thus far (I don't want junkyard replacements). Spare yourself the hassle. I've been to several Grease Monkey locations, but didn't have the best experience at this particular one. When I stopped by, several employees where wearing masks below their nose- which personally made me uncomfortable. It also felt like the employee was talking down to me when asking about the services I needed- but hey, maybe they were just having a bad day... But they also forgot to reset my oil life after an oil change- so when I got home I had do check myself if it had actually been changed. It was! But not ideal from the customer service prospective. Overall though, the service was convenient & quick. With a bit more effort on customer service, I think this could be a good spot. read more

They consistently make sure that everything is functioning how it should and keep me updated on things that might need to be looked at in the near future. 16 point Full Oil change service description and manager claim they follow OEM recommendation. They used a 5,000 mile suggested life engine oil filter although OEM equipment has a Maintenance Minder that allows up to 10,000 miles between full synthetic oil change. I called Grease Monkey to inquire about the choice of engine oil filter and advised the Purolator filter installed by Grease Monkey is not a fit for the vehicle. Manager Tim said, "well that's how we do it." I called Purolator after seeing their website, www.pureoil.com, does NOT recommend this engine oil filter for full synthetic oil. The Purolator product specialist advised I will need to change the engine oil filter between 3,000 and 5,000 miles. Grease Monkey was a waste of time and money for me. Don't let them waste your time and money. read more

The parking lot and waiting room were jammed. Given a choice, I prefer my VW mechanic, but the last couple times, I don't plan well enough to have my oil changed two weeks in advance. There's something to be said about car places that specialize in one thing. Grease Monkey fits that bill. My oil plug is an oddball plastic one. I always ask if they have one on the shelf. Today, no, but I ended up having to wait an hour. When I returned from lunch at the Chinese place a couple blocks away, one was delivered and my car was ready when I came back. I was visiting my son and noticed an oil leak under his car. We looked for the leak and found the oil filter was loose. Loose means it took almost 2 full turns to tighten it. I was 2 + quarts of oil low. He went back to talk to the manager and was dismissed because he didn't get there sooner from his last oil change. We just noticed it as he parks it in a grass driveway and doesn't drive the car much. After 10 years of faithful service this is how a customer is treated. All he asked for was some consideration and a new oil change. In a round about way he was calling my son a Liar and also myself. When my son got his last oil change that caused this problem he called in and they said they were swapped. When he drove by in a few minutes he noticed they were empty and everyone was standing around outside smoking. I wonder who is the liar. My son went down to Jiffy Lube. I went to Grease Monkey in yesterday's snow storm, I needed wiper blades and (surprise) an oil change. I told them what I wanted, and the guy said "Okay, that'll be about 20 minutes." I waited... Nothing. No Upsale. Crooks! They did my oil change ~ February 2016. I was shown my dirty cabin air filter and agreed to have it replaced. Now, April 2016, when they couldn't do the tire rotation I wanted along with my next oil change, I had the work done at Midas. Same thing ... Midas showed me my filthy cabin air filter. I know that during the three winter months in between that the filter could *not* have become so filthy. So it appears that Grease Monkey charged me for a new filter but reinstalled the old (gross) one. read more

Mike was great, and explained everything to me in detail. He didn't patronize me, nor did he try to sell me anything. I think I may have found the best oil change station ever. I never thought I would be blown away by an oil change, but now I have. I came in here two days ago a little wary of the gimmicky name and worried about finding a place to get my oil changed in a new town. I didn't want someone cramming air filters and engine cleaning services down my throat. Thankfully the guy behind the counter didn't mention either, and just told me to come back in 20 minutes. When I returned in the what must have been the 15 minute walk to the gas station for a drink and back my car was ready. Instead of trying push services on me they went ahead and refilled my windshield washer, checked all my fluids and battery among other things, topped off my power steering and anti-freeze and.... VACUUMED MY CAR. For free. They are on the pricey side, but other than that everything about this place hovers around perfection. read more

In preparation for the holiday season and the coming to the end of a year, I go into overdrive getting everything cleaned, organized, and prepped for the next. My car's "change oil" light has been an annoying but useful reminder to maintain my car a little more than I do now. Finally, after weeks of seeing that same warning light come up I took my baby in to get her oil changed. I chose this place as the other mechanic shop (name withheld) I frequent said they were booked up for the day. And then I remembered about a review on Grease Monkey and how Mr. Ali S. had a good review on'em and so I dropped on early this morning to see if they could help me out. Pleasantly they were about no hassles, gave me what I came in for, and made a few recommendations like changing my air filter which was a lil dirty. The auto shop is small, but comfy enough to wait in while they fix up your auto. It's also within walking distance to Target/Starbucks/Panera Bread/28th Street Mall, a Nissan car dealership (in case you want to buy a new car), and a Barnes and Noble - all of which of course only applies in the event you have to wait a while. Good news is that they're fast, and I got my oil changed in about 10 minutes during a lunch break from work. Also, as someone else noted, they don't try to upsell you. That said, I'm not sure how great the work they did was, given the speed. I noticed on the printout they gave me that they checked my tire pressure and made sure it was at factory specs, except the printout had two different values for front and back, and my factory specs are uniform for all four tires. Plus, when I got home at the end of the day (and my commute's fairly long so the car had been running for a while), I noticed what smelled like burned coolant on my engine, like they tried to top off the radiator and spilled coolant all over the place. Finally, on a cosmetic note, it's nice that they tried to clean my front and back windshields, but they used a dirty rag that left smear marks all over the windows, making it hard to see out when the winter sun was shining through or when cars coming against me had their headlights on. The building is small and a little older, and I was surprised that they hadn't upgraded to newer facilities given that Jiffy Lube and even other nearby Grease Monkey locations don't look like they're stuck in 1982. I just hope for my car's sake that their fast turnaround didn't mean that anything was overlooked or done in a slap-dash way, and I'm probably going to go somewhere else next time I need an oil change. read more

I used to be a grease monkey regular. Never again. I stopped by the day before thanksgiving and got an oil change. I asked the woman at the counter about the bill and was told that my Buick needed a special coolant that cost $5.- a quart. This added an extra $15.- to my bill. Driving to family for thanksgiving, we end up parking across the street and spending time with the family. After a wonderful thanksgiving meal we start to head home. As we start the car, there is a loud knocking sound. We immediately turn off the car and take a look under the car. There is a pool of oil and red coolant underneath the engine. The oil filter was wobbling under the engine and has spit all of the oil in the engine onto the highway. So.... 9pm thanksgiving evening... We go to Walmart and get 5 quarts of oil and a new oil filter. Calling the next day and asking for a refund, we are getting the runaround by the manager. Now I am having to pay twice for a simple oil change that should have been done right... the first time. read more

I'm a Grease Monkey regular. I really like the service here. The front desk agent is ALWAYS so helpful and transparent about what's going on. And, he remembers me. Ok, let me put it this way: I know jack about cars, except that I need my oil changed every 3000-5000 miles. I hesitated when giving 5 stars--nearly went for the 4 because I don't freakin know what I'm talking about. But I went for the 5 because they make me feel like I'm not getting screwed over. When I need something replaced I actually trust them, and I've rarely trusted the car service industry (always deferring to someone I know personally first). They even recommended a great local place to get my brakes fixed. I'm always in and out here--I've never waited longer than 30 minutes for an oil change (even if they are doing some extra work).
