Dishonest and sexist. They did not do the service I requested, lied about it, and strung me along for 7 + hours while pretending to look at the car. As mentioned in multiple reviews here (that I wish I had read before my appointment), they do not take women seriously and they lie to their customers. Here is a more detailed explanation of what happened: Two days ago, I stopped by Big O and talked to Brian to request an alignment check and to have them look at snow tires I recently had put on the car to make sure they were properly installed. Brian made an appointment for me to come back at 10am the following day. When I came for my appointment, they checked me in and I said I would wait nearby while they worked on my car. They estimated it would take two hours and they would call me when it was done. Three hours later I hadn't heard anything so I called for an update. They hadn't looked at the car yet, but promised it was next in line. Four and a half hours in, I still hadn't heard anything, so I called again for an update. They said that my car was "up in the air" being worked on and they would call with an update in 20 minutes. They never called, so five and a half hours in, I called for another update. Now they said that they were working to identify the issue and were waiting to do a test drive of my car and would call me soon. Again, no word, and I called again at six and half hours in. They said they were now doing the test drive and would call soon. They never called, so seven hours in, I called for an update. They were rude and condescending, and told me that they couldn't find any issues after their extensive testing, and that if I was tired of waiting I should pick up the car and take it to the dealership or a different garage, so I said that I would come get the car. I went in to pick up the car right after, and talked to Brian. He told me that they had done extensive testing and took off all of the wheels and carefully checked everything before putting them back on the car. I asked for a printout showing the results of the alignment check and what tests and services they had done. He became flustered and admitted that they did not actually do the alignment check that I made the appointment for. In fact, there was no record in their computer of any services or tests having been done, so I asked Brian to write down what they checked so I could have it for my records. He wrote that they "checked wheel weights" and "checked backing plates." I asked why they kept my car for over seven hours without doing the test I specifically requested and he said "I don't know what you want me to to tell you. We dropped the ball." I again asked for an explanation of why they didn't do an alignment check and what they did for seven hours, and Brian told me to call back the next day to talk to D, the manager. I called the next day, and Brian answered the phone. He told me that it was D's day off. I reminded Brian that he had told me to call that day to talk to D, and he said that he had forgotten it was D's day off. Since we were on the phone, I asked Brian to go over the "tests" they allegedly did on the car. What exactly did they do when they "checked the wheel weights" and "checked the backing plates"? He explained that they looked at the wheels to see if they looked okay, and they didn't see anything wrong. I asked if they had done a tire balance check while they had the wheels off the car, and he said no. I asked if it was possible to check the wheel weights and backing plates without removing the wheels, and he admitted that it was possible, but insisted that the really did take the wheels off during their "testing." At this point, I realized that not only did they not do the alignment check I requested, he was probably also lying about everything else. I asked him point blank if they really took the wheels off, and he started getting flustered . "You should talk to D about that." Brian changed his opinion at this point and said that he was now only "90% sure" that they took the wheels off and checked everything. The one positive thing is at least they didn't charge me any money. I just wish that they could have done their pretend testing during the first two hours instead of dragging it out for seven and a half hours and wasting my entire day. read more

I was in Boulder with a rental car for a recent weekend. I discovered Saturday night that one tire was losing air. The hotel concierge told me that Big O Tires was the only tire store in Boulder open on Sundays. I was able to drive to Big O when they opened at 9:00 AM on Sunday morning. They immediately brought the car into the garage, found and fixed the leak. The personnel were courteous and helpful. They couldn't have been nicer and their work was excellent. read more

My son took is car there to get a new battery and have alternator checked. Said just needed a new battery for $250. A few days later, car dies in middle of Canyon and was unable to jumpstart. Had car towed back to BigO. Tested alternator again and said it was now bad. Told my son it would be almost $1300 for a new alternator after spending $250 for battery. Shocked, I called to confirm cost. Was told alternator was really difficult to access and would be about 4 hrs in labor. Part was going to be close to $500. I get that shops can charge what they want but this seemed excessive so I chose not to have work done. After watching a quick YouTube video, I had car towed back to my house. Please note, that I am not a mechanic, and I was able to complete the repair myself in about an hour. Part was $200. BigO mechanics must Just be really bad or they are not very ethical! My suggestion is to look elsewhere for service. read more

A few things that contributed to the poor review 1. Had an appointment set for noon. This was not honored. Was told that if I booked online that they can't really honor appointments as those are done on the corporate website. So... I was told an hour or so wait, which became 5 1/2 hrs. They didn't get my car on the rack until after 4pm. For my trouble, Bruce kindly gave me $50 off. 2. When I returned home I took a good look at my receipt. I was charged $150 for the tire protection plan. I was not asked if I wanted it nor advised that it was added. Yes, I should have read my invoice before signing and paying but I was so flustered after waiting 5 + hrs that I just wanted to get out of there. It is unethical to add services without verbal consent. I'd rather wait in line at Discount Tire than ever step foot in big o again. read more

Been a returning customer to the franchise Big O on and off for 5 years Boulder, CO: I stopped in to get a quote on a New set of tires & brakes ( Rotors/Pads and sensors for my 2009 Land Rover. Joe was quick to set up a quote for the tires and brakes. The tire install was ok as it was my choice of tire, not theirs. The brake service was horrific. I spent the better part of 2 days with their failed attempts to install cheap aftermarket junk from Advanced Auto parts. My brakes got so bad that just touching the brake pedal would cause a huge vibration in my steering wheel. Most definitely a Rotor issue. After some research, I was able to locate all the parts I needed from the Land Rover dealer in Denver. Currently, IM is already in the hole for Over $900 for cheap brake pads and warped rotors. I called back to Big O and they told me Justin would refund me or they would prefer to make things right and give them another chance to fix the issue. ( day 3 - 10 hours of my time thus far) I told Big O the parts list ( JOe) who called it in. On the am of Oct 18th the parts arrived from the dealer. I came in around 11 am after dropping my son off at CU Boulder.. We commute from Eldora, we don't live in Boulder. Bear in mind my trip down the mountain was extremely unsettling because of the excessive vibration of my brakes/rotors. After 3 more hours they finally had the OE Land Rover brakes and Rotors installed . I went out for a test drive with the mechanic who installed them, whom by the way was very cool. The brakes were fine, NO issues thus far. As I was about to leave I was given a New bill for $1375 for the new brakes. Wait a minute I said. I just paid almost a grand $1000 for malfunctioning brakes and now you want another $1350. $2350 in total is outrageous. Even the Land Rover dealer is less than that and they have a much nicer lounge to hang out in and a real espresso maker too.. But Not BIg O is bare bones dingy and in a downright nasty location. I had to discuss this matter with their manager Justin. He was downright rude and inconsiderate. Told me the best he could do is $200 off. I was expecting a refund of the original failed brake job. and an invoice quote for the new brake installation. His math was way off and he asked me what my disconnect. I am the fellow paying here. I am the customer who found the parts and agreed to give Big O another chance of redemption. I paid the balance of over $1100 and now I am seeking a refund of the original botched job that I paid $900 plus for.. Don't ask me to call the shop I want to speak with the Owners to get a definitive resolution before I seek legal counsel. and post my experience all over social media . So to the owners please reach out to me with your direct contact info and let's get a refund going I was about to give you guys a lot of work., I needed some suspension work done and New tires for my wife's Range Rover.. The y fixed a slow leak on a new tire that we had bought on the East coast a month before. looked over everything, couldn't find a nail or puncture but cleaned the rim, replaced the stem core and fixed it! Got tires 3 years ago based on their recommendation - Big O brand. Have had 7 flats since. Most were due to faulty install (bead failing) or poor quality (valve stem). Top it all off, most recent issue had two flat tires and they would not even take the car in until 5 days. My sister and I called ahead and were told if we brought our own oil and oil filter it would be $20 for an oil change, so we went to advanced auto parts, spent all the money buying synthetic oil and a filter, and then when we showed up an hour later we were told they wouldn't change our oil with our own supplies. we then had staff LAUGH and make us feel stupid for trying to do what THEY told us to do in the first place. fuck you Big O. read more

Big-O way way over tightened my lug nuts last time I had tires swapped. When I went to change to my winter tires that were on a different set of rims I couldn't loosen the lug nuts with a 700 lb-ft impact wrench. If properly tightened these should loosen at no more than 100 lb-ft . It took a 1,400 lb-ft wrench but twisted off 6 of the twenty bolts. Now I have to replace the lug studs before I can put wheels back on. Since I'm way up in the mountains I have to do the job myself. I know how, I have the tools but it's a giant pain in the ass. Don't let these guys anywhere near your wheels read more

My car's tires deflate every time the temperature changes and these 2 are regularly the ones to put air in them, to the point where I see them a lot. I came in for a tire rotation and these guys did not return the key to my tire locks. I didn't find out until months later when I brought my car in to get my brakes replaced. My mechanic says it happens more than we would like to think. It breaks my heart to think that people are so careless. My mechanic had to spend extra time whipping off the locks and I had to pay. This is among a few other mistakes these guys made. In short, even if you pop a tire on a Sunday, don't go to these guys. Just don't. read more

Wow! Simple oil change. This outfit didn't replace the service sticker in the car window. No big deal. However, after getting home and doing my due diligence, I found some screws loose and an intake cover loose in the engine compartment. They had plenty of help and weren't busy. Now I know why. Recently had a flat tire due to a screw through the tread approx 1.75" away from the sidewall. One of the staff at this location took a look at it and commented that it was "too close to the sidewall" despite seconds earlier stating that as long as it was an inch or more from the sidewall it'd be fine to repair. His recommendation was to go to the auto parts store and get a DIY kit to repair the tire myself. Instead, I drove about 4 mins to nearby Discount Tire on 28th St in Boulder where, despite a fairly large number of clients getting helped, they were able to inspect the tire and see that it was no problem to plug, check me in quickly and had me out the door with a repaired tire in about an hour. No charge. Workers offered to help secure the tire on my rig and double-check all my tires' air pressure. Discount will get my next review (a 5-star), Big-O is really a big 0 (zero), tho I can only go as low as a 1 on the Yelp scale sadly. The contrast between the work ethic and customer experience from Big 0 to Discount Tire was stark. I will avoid businesses that have this (lack of) work ethic...I only recommend you do the same. read more

worst shop ever not only do they have to have 6 guys jack up one car but they sit there smoking and looking stupid. I had a just in the past year replaced half my engine with brand new parts and my breaks and suspension and they had a list of items I needed totaling over 2400 and half the items in that list another shop said were perfect and unnecessary. I literally only went in for an alignment and I watched them for an hour just talk and smoke just to be told they can't do it. do not ever go here they will take advantage of you and I watched them take advantage of an elderly women who had a nail in her 4 year old tire saying they are past shelf life and that she needed all 4 tires replaced. took them hours just to say they can't do anything now my truck smells like cigarettes read more

AVOID - sent my 20 year old daughter to get her brakes serviced. They told her it was completely worn and they needed to replace the entire brakes not just the pads for $1100. I sent her to another shop that said they had 30% life on them and ended up replacing the brake pads only for $440. I purchased two new tires with a warranty. Less than 2000 miles later I have a slow puncture due to a nail imbedded in my tire, no one's fault and that's what the warranty is for. When I went into the store they said that they won't honor the warranty as they feel the other two tires also need replacing. I explain that this doesn't involve the other two tires and shouldn't affect the warranty, they say that's not relevant and until I purchase two new tires they won't honor the warranty. Stay away from this place, very dishonest business practice. I don't understand how what they did was legal. read more

Went for a free brake and rotor inspection. They said all the rotors were shot and that I needed four new rotors plus brake pads. I was quoted $1,500. I asked for my keys back to get some other shops opinions and they were rude to me on the way out. I called three other places and was quoted for significantly less. I ended up taking it to the Brakes Plus in Superior and they told me that I only needed two rotors replaced and brake pads. They also told me the fronts were completely fine (Big O's lied). Brakes Plus charged me half of the price Big O's would have costed me. Don't go here if you are trying to save money and not get lied to. read more

I recently had a front-end allinment and it didn't feel right. So took my car back and had it redone. After they where done I asked if there was a problem and was told that my rear right side of the car was inherent curbed or had been in an accident and this is why my car was pulling and he said it would cost more than my car is worth to fix or that I could see if the manufacturer made shimes to place in there. After I left I went home and put my car on jack stands checked the work that was done and found both sides of my tierods where lose the retaining bolts that keep the tierods from losing where not even tight so after that I took my car to someone else. And was told there is nothing wrong with my car. Don't trust them they don't tighten bolts. So you have to go back with other problems. Beware. read more
