I was having an issue with engine oil leaking into my engine coolant causing my car to overheat. After doing some research on my own and talking with the advisors at the Subie Doctor, it turns out I had a head gasket issue. After seeing all the positive reviews for this business on Google and Yelp, I decided to go with them for my repairs. I am very happy that I did! They provided me with a detailed estimate and showed me photos of things they found along the way which included very swollen coolant hoses, a leaking transmission pan, and lots of carbon buildup on the valves. I had them repair all these things and my car runs like a new car now! I feel that the price I paid for all this work was fair as it was very labor intensive. The entire engine has to be removed from Subarus when the head gasket needs to be serviced. This car had nearly 193,000 miles on it when I brought it to them on the original engine and transmission. I have a 2013 Crosstrek with about 150,000 miles and thankfully I brought it in, because I learned my front axles need to be replaced. This was my second time using them for a repair; the first time being in 2021, and almost 2 years to the day, they were able to replace the broken valve body on my 2014 Subaru Outback. I originally took my car to Groove because they are 15 minutes away, and they brushed me off, told me they couldn't get me in for weeks. I called the team at Subie Dr and told them what was going on with my car,and they set me up with an appointment the next week. Brought her in and they ran diagnostics and discovered the broken valve body. They were great at communicating with me along the process. I'm a single mom, with just the one vehicle, so it was essential to me to get my car fixed properly and quickly, and Alex and team were able to deliver that to me. After discussing what I wanted with these guys I gave them a budget of $14,000 dollars to achieve 350 horsepower. They had my car for about three months. The suspension work was great. However the upgraded brakes felt like they were warped or something. After all the tuning the car made about 255 HP. That is less than stock power. The car only made it about 2000 mile before the turbo they installed cooked and the motor blew. This is defiantly not a speed shop. I am truly bummed I gave them my favorite car to destroy. I told them many times reliability was important to me, and with the amount of money I paid I believed I was going to get top quality work done. Turns out the clutch had exploded on itself and we needed a new one. We got a call from the manager the same day and walked us through options in replacing the clutch. I am fairly new to the Denver area and to being a Subaru owner (again/ had one in the 80s). I purchased an old Forester to accommodate my outdoor/ camping needs. After taking Luna to another mechanic near my home and being taken advantage of (IMO) I researched reviews and went to The Subie Dr. They checked her out from top to bottom and told me what she needed and gave me a quote on all repairs. Somethings she needed right away, others could be put off until later. The guys only repaired what I could afford to repair each time and where more than happy to work with my financial budget. The first time was to replace the turbo, new spark plugs and oil change, second fix was cylinder 4 misfire and 3rd time for cylinder 2 misfire and an oil change. Great customer service and price. I'm hoping that should do it for awhile for this 2005 Legacy GT. I highly recommend these guys for all your Subaru needs. I'm taking 1 star back as there's still an oil leak after I asked them to look at it and fix it. I realize that these things happen but I wish it was resolved with this 3rd trip.
