Is it possible to love an auto repair shop? YES! I had my oil changed in the state that I previously lived in. That shop suggested a number of items to fix but I didn't have time to take care of them before I shipped my car. After settling down in Boulder, I took it to the guys at Boulder Valley Automotive and mentioned the repairs I needed. After assessing my car, they told me the repairs were completely unnecessary. I am blown away by how honest and transparent they are, and how they only charge for work that is truly necessary. They deliver great service and truly care about their customers. Tow truck dropped off my car after the radiator overheated and the coolant reservoir cap exploded off on the highway. BVA did a great job keeping me informed while they diagnosed and fixed the tstat and cleaned up the coolant system. I hadn't had any service on my car since moving from California, so I'm glad Yelp pointed me to these guys. Since that first ill-fated run in, I've had nothing but great experiences with Boulder Valley. Repairs have always been pretty minor and simple, but work is completely quickly and at a price I am always happy with. And love Curtis at the front desk-- he has very kindly waited some extra minutes for my rushing-self to get there after work! Only wish they were also open on a weekend day too. read more

Let's just start with how incredibly courteous and professional the guys at the front desk and in the garage area are! Customer service is their jam!! I brought my car in for a tune-up and I have always had problems with guys trying to overcharge the little lady that knows nothing. All of the reviews about Boulder Valley Automotive are spot on. I needed a front headlight replaced, and gave them a call. They were super nice over the phone and told me I could swing by that afternoon. They didn't have the bulb that my Toyota needed, so Darren called another shop and got one in 15 minutes! Then they quickly replaced it and I was out of there in 30 minutes flat. My Toyota dealership said they couldn't see me for two weeks (I'd feel very uncomfortable driving at night for the next two weeks with a broken headlight) so the turnaround at Boulder Valley Automotive was so amazing. There is absolutely no reason you should take your car elsewhere. If you're looking for a shop that offers crystal clear transparency, efficiency and integrity, this is your shop. I brought in my old beater minivan, and Darren listed out everything that COULD be fixed, then everything that SHOULD be fixed as there were some relatively minor fixes that would've cost me an extra couple thousand dollars that weren't all that necessary. I had a blown fuse and I went in at 8 AM on a Monday morning. They looked at it immediately and had diagnostics, the reason for the blown fuse, and replaced the fuse in 15-20 minutes. They didn't even charge me for the labor or replacement! Best service I've ever received from an auto body shop! Ii am very disappointed in BVA! I brought my Jeep in for an electrical issue(jeep wouldn't start). When I picked it up I found that the glove compartment box was lying on the floor of the car. They never reinstalled it! If that wasn't bad enough the plastic flange on the instrument cluster had not been properly reinstalled either and was just "flapping in the breeze". VERY sloppy and unprofessional. After all of this, and 900$ later I found they had not repaired the problem - because a few days later it wouldn't start again. I had already brought it back in twice and still the problem was not fixed. When I tried to leave a review on their website, the site crashed and wouldn't let me post the review. read more

I'm as fussy as they get when it comes to getting my 2005 Jeep Wrangler serviced. I actually know about cars, have done a lot of work on my Jeep and can self diagnose a problem but can't always fix things. When the UV joint on my Jeep Wrangler failed and destroyed my driveshaft I had to get it fixed ASAP. I called Boulder Valley and they got me in the same day and had it fixed within 24 hours. Mike and Curtis patiently listened to what I had to say, treated me with incredible courtesy and got my Jeep up and running in time for me to get back to work. I then scheduled follow up appointments for them to diagnose the problem with my climate vents (no air coming through center vents) and they also confirmed that I had a coolant leak in the thermostat and told me about my steering stabilizer was leaking so I had it all fixed. Everything was done in a timely, courteous fashion and as promised and for the price that was quoted. I also want to say that they were straightforward about price, didn't charge for more than was needed and if something wasn't needed they were honest about saying that I should save my money. They fixed everything that was needed and didn't try to sell me on anything that wasn't. Everyone who works there is pleasant to talk and deal with. As someone who just move into the Boulder area it's a pleasure to deal with this shop and have peace of mind that me and my family have a place to bring our vehicles for service. After an unpleasant experience with another auto repair place, I was very happy to have an easy problem fixed over $80 under what I was quoted! Other auto shop quoted me $240 and after taxes I only paid $160.. They are located next to an awesome restaurant as well, Parkway (I think). Which was excellent and happy to let us sit around for awhile. As a person with little to no car knowledge I felt in good hands with these guys. read more

We were traveling this past week and had a problem with our car trunk being broken. the Toyota dealer couldn't work on our car and recommended this sop as possibly being able to assist us. They will recommend another mechanic when they think it's the best course. But most importantly, they want to be sure their customers and the cars they repair are truly fixed. I've never had a better experience at any auto repair shop than I had here at Boulder Valley. I had a check engine light on in my Jeep and I knew what the code was... intake manifold flaps stuck open. After doing some research on the internet and calling around to get opinions and quotes, I discovered that, by best guesses, my intake manifold would need to be replaced and it would cost between $700 and $1000. They never tried to sell me anything else that I didn't need. When I called Boulder Valley late one afternoon to make an appt, they were able to get me in the very next morning. I didn't have anyone to drop me off, so I brought my laptop to get some work done while waiting. They have a very comfortable waiting area, with very good wifi and a reasonably clean, well-stocked restroom (given that it is in the back and the mechanics seem to use it too). They eventually informed me what I expected to hear... that my intake manifold needed to be replaced. They also gave me a estimate of $700. This was the minimum that I expected to have to pay, so I happily agreed. To my pleasant surprise, they also told me they expected to be able to get the part and finish the work the same day, and I happily agreed. A few hours went by, and they came to me apologizing profusely to inform me that even though they had followed up multiple times with whatever warehouse from Denver was supposed to deliver the part, the part had gotten delivered to the wrong location. It was clear that they had tried to go to bat for me with that supplier insisting that they deliver the part in time for them to finish the work the same day, but it somehow wasn't possible. Obviously, having to come back the next day wasn't my ideal, but what impressed me was that to try to correct for the problem, Boulder Valley offered to lend me their own vehicle for the night and I would bring it back the next day to pick up my Jeep! Their ford pickup truck was clearly an old model but also in very good shape and running well. When I brought their truck back the next day to pick up I learned that they had bought the truck from a customer who had been bringing it to that shop for years. I also learned that it was a 1991. I think they must be doing good work if they keep a truck running so well for 25 years! And they apparently trust their own work enough to buy the vehicle that had been under their professional care for a long time. When I got my bill the grand total was $663 -- less than I originally agreed to, which had already been on the low end of what I expected. Honestly I could say more about other details but the bottom line is that based on my whole experience they seem to clearly be very focused on doing what's right for their customers. I wish every company I did business with were like my experience at Boulder Valley. read more

This place is great. Our son is new to the area, having just started at UCB, and the engine thermostat stuck open on his Navigator, which really sucks in the cold weather. Whereas the first two places we called couldn't get us in for a week, we saw BVAR on Yelp and decided to give them a call. They squeazed us in right away the next morning, ordered the part, installed it, did an oil change, and had the truck back to us the same day, with totally reasonable charges. The honesty, professionalism and friendliness offered here compares to no garage I've ever been to. I knew each visit that they would not only fix the issue I came in with, but would also let me know if there were any other areas of concern. They emailed me photos of the work done and were always happy to answer questions and offer suggestions. I recently purchased a new vehicle, which means I will not be frequenting this garage as much.
