I wish I could give negative stars. Someone did not bolt my skid plate back on the car adequately. Later that day I was driving on a highway when the front of the skid plate fell and was damaged. I towed my car back to Grease Monkey. The manager put ties to hold the skid plate back up and the receptionist simply handed my keys to me and said "your car is ready to go". I asked to speak to the manager and after waiting an extremely long time, the manager came out and told me that he yelled at the employee who did my oil change because they did not secure my skid plate. I told him I was concerned about other damage and didn't understand how ties were safe. The manager refused to provide any further information so I insisted on speaking with the owner. The manager said that the owner does not speak to customers (REALLY?!!). Apparently Tim Reeves can't be bothered to deal with customers whose cars have been damaged by his employee's negligence. After an extended and very rude exchange with the manager, he said he spoke to Tim and Tim said he would not pay for the tow and I could have the car checked out by but it's my problem not theirs. He would offer a free oil change next time. So why in the world would I want these incompetent people to change my oil again. In the end, Grease Monkey did not step up to their responsibility as a service provider and I had to take my car to Fisher Honda where they repaired it properly for free. Tim - are you hearing that? That is how customer service works. Quit hiding behind your employees and own up to your responsibilities as a service provider! I'm still out the tow fee of $115. Where are you Tim?! read more

First the good. They did change the oil and it was done fast. Now the bad. FAST is the problem. From the moment I pulled in, I had not even gone over with the manager (Mike on 9/8/2014) the complete details of what I wanted done or confirmed the oil change. His techs were already starting work on the car. I should have recognized this as not a good procedure but let them continue anyway. My mistake. I left the car and walked over to Whole Foods to have lunch with a friend. About an hour later upon my return, the car was waiting for me in the parking lot. So far, all is well. I drive 3 blocks away to run an errand at my place of employment. After being there for about an hour, I walk out to my car and discover TWO flat rear tires (no punctures, no slashes, no air). Being a bit too much of a coincidence and noticing now on the receipt their incorrect assumption my vehicle's tires are inflated with nitrogen instead of regular air, I walk back to garage to inform them of my problem. They are not equipped with a portable air compressor nor have any pump. And seemed reluctant to have my vehicle towed to their shop. An employee walked back to my car with me to confirm my dilemma. Having to think a bit outside the box, we walked over to a local bicycle garage (SG Cycles) and borrowed a couple of pumps, aired up the tires enough to drive back to the garage, and then fully air up the tires. Problem solved, minor inconvenience. Here's why I gave them 1 star. Upon asking Mike for some consideration upon any return visit such as a gift card or any consideration on what I already paid ($60 for a change with high mileage oil), Mike said he could do nothing. Additionally, he mentioned he had to STOP production of his shop (NOT TRUE) to allow his employee to assist me in fixing the problem his shop created (failing to properly screw down the valve stem covers of my tires, effectively deflating my tires as soon as driving pressure was applied to them). Mike failed to recognize the seriousness of the situation such as what if this was discovered WHILE I was driving. Possible serious consequences such as shredded tires and/or damaged tire rims certainly would have occurred. This occurrence cost me an hour of my time, a missed appointment but at least that is all. While they seemed diligent about checking all of my vehicle's inspection points (and upsell opportunities), when confronted with a legitimate mistake on their part, they at first did not believe me and second, did not do enough to satisfy a customer. Hence a lost customer who has already told enough friends and still had the energy to write this review. And I really DON'T like writing a review perceived as negative. I simply have detailed exactly what happened (a mistake on their part) and mistakes happen. Life is not perfect. But not recognizing the seriousness of the mistake and trying to place it back on the customer shows a SERIOUS lack of understanding of what to do to make things right when things go wrong. read more

I watched this dude drive my car into a parking block after stalling it four times in a row. They managed to get it into reverse while bouncing it off of the rev limiter and then stalling it yet again once they got it in the bay. I told them not to check the air filter, when I got home I noticed that they didn't screw down all 4 Torx nuts to put the cover back on. I tried to tighten it down but it's now stripped. It was fast but I watched these people mess up my car for the majority of the time I was there. read more

I should preface this by saying that this is the first review I've ever written. I've never been struck by service so negatively as to be driven to write a review. This was truly and by far the worst experience I've ever had with a mechanic. Well, they never tried to talk me into having them perform extra services, because they just did them without asking. I brought my car in for an oil change, and unlike every other oil change I've ever had they decided to dismantle my cabin air system and dislodge a bunch of debris. This caused my AC blower fan to fall off axis and make an absurdly loud vibrating noise. I got my car back from the oil change, without a single word from them about the absurdly loud and disruptive vibrating coming from inside my dash that had never once happened in the 180,000 mile life of the car, until the moment I brought it to Grease Monkey. I start to drive away and put the AC on, to discover the rattling, and clunking of a broken blower fan. Naturally I brought my car back and told them about the newly discovered damage that they had caused. They told me that it was my fault for not having changed the filter on so long, they told me that it would happen at such a high mileage, basically they told me anything possible except for "I'm sorry that we caused damage to your vehicle by performing an unnecessary and unrequested service." They proceed to tell me that they are unequipped to fix the damage they've caused. I asked them if they could reimburse me for repairs at a mechanic who can fix a basic AC problem, and they told me I had to speak to the owner. I wait 4 HOURS to speak to the owner who proceeds to get into a shouting match, telling me that my car is junk and I should be glad they cleaned out my cabin. I don't believe I have any recourse here legally, but I hope no one ever makes the mistake of bringing their car there to have it broken by a bunch of incompetent "grease monkeys". read more

This place was great! An oil change and repairs took 25 minutes. They did a complete fluid check and air pressure check in the $40 price. Also had to do some work on the oil pan and the bolt to make it work better, and didn't charge extra labor charge...I was impressed. All This and: Zero waiting time after I checked in at the counter (honestly I don't know how they can work on it when it's that hot) less than 25 minutes later it was done and ready to roll after giving the guy a well deserved $45. I can't ask for more, and was pleasantly surprised with the service and speed. The shop guys had very friendly and helpful attitudes. I'm going back in a few months. read more

Poor Customer Service. On 9/27/14, I suddenly found I had to drive from Boulder to Asheville, NC, so I stopped in at Grease Monkey for an oil change and tire rotation. Service was quick but careless. When I picked up my Fit, I found that the service book I left open on the seat (and had asked them to complete) was blank; there were grease prints on the driver's door; and the elastic strap holding my lumbar cushion had been ripped off. I went inside and got the service record completed, but was too pressed for time to complain about the other things. However, I drove away and heard loud thumping from the front left tire. I stopped in at Discount Tire and they found that Grease Monkey had FORGOTTEN TO TORQUE THE LUG NUTS! Discount Tire kindly did it for me and checked the rest, too. No charge. AND they called Grease Monkey and told them their error. They also told me I should get a refund of the $18 I paid for the tire rotation, noting that they wouldn't have even charged me for that. I had to leave town, so I waited till I got back to visit Grease Monkey. I went in, spoke with the man who remembered having done the work and gotten the call that day. I told him all my complaints and asked for at least the $18 refund. He pulled the cash out of his pocket, gave it to me, made a terse "sorry 'bout that" apology, and offered no further amends. I feel that good service would have offered much more, considering the danger they brought to my person and my car. Not only that, they had my phone number and did nothing to call me that first day and make it right. I could not rest till I let other consumers know. read more

All around fantastic experience. After being rejected at Midas for coming in for an oil change an hour before they closed (though none of the mechanics were working- I suspect they just didn't want to do any work in the last hour they were open), I decided to head down the street to Grease Monkey and I'm glad I did! They had no problem getting me in for an oil change at 5:15pm, (and they close at 6pm as well) and were very friendly, fast, and helpful. All of the staff seemed knowledgeable and very appreciative of my business. They weren't pushy with any other services and were respectful of my time. I purchased their lowest priced oil change package for $35- this included a fill up on my windshield wiper fluid and freon, tire air pressure check, brake check, battery check, oil filter change, transmission check, AND they vacuumed my car. This only took 15 minutes! and NO ONE tried to self me into other vehicle improvements. This was one of the few automobile repair/maintenance experiences where I didn't feel like the employees were trying to take advantage of my "perceived lack of car knowledge" (my brother is a mechanic, so I know enough to tell when someone is trying to bullshit me for money, I really appreciated that this didn't happen here). I'm also new to Colorado and the employees gave my great recommendations for other trusting mechanics around time, just in case I ever needed efficient and cheap repairs. read more

These guys are great! I don't know a whole lot about the intricacies of cars and the guys at grease monkey always take time to explain things to me when I have questions. They have always been super friendly, fast, informative and they always have done a great job. When my air filter needed changing they brought it to me and showed me why it needed to be replaced. They've helped to make me understand the importance of regular oil changes and have also given me some referrals for things they cannot do in their shop (not for lack of knowledge, but lack of equipment). I highly recommend grease monkey as a place to go for oil changes where they won't try to up sell you things that you do not need or make you feel stupid for not knowing what part in the car they are working on (above that they will explain what that thing is, what it does, and what it needs). read more

Went in today for a majorly overdue oil change. (Evidently I didn't have any oil left.) The guys there were incredibly professional and kind and they never pushed any fancy upgrades on me. I was totally embarrassed about how messy my truck was and told them not to bother vacuuming. One of the guys came into the waiting room and discreetly told me that if I didn't want the vacuum because of the mess, I shouldn't worry and that they see far messier cars on a regular basis. Totally sweet. THEN, they asked if I wanted to get new wipers and I told them it didn't matter because they weren't working anyway. Not only did they take a quick look and fix them (I had been quoted $300 to get a new wiper motor and all they had to do was tighten a few screws!!), they showed me how to fix it myself and gave me a little pocket screwdriver to keep in my truck in case I need a quick fix on the go. I could not be happier. The prices were completely reasonable and despite my laundry list of things that needed attention, they had me out of there in a half-hour. AND they said I can have a complimentary oil top-off between changes. Basically, if you're looking for a reliable, fast, honest place to get your preventative maintenance done and you're not interested in being sold services you don't need, this is your place. They take a lot of pride in being different from the other quick oil change places, and it really shows in their work. read more

This one is hard for me. I've been going to grease monkey for 15 years. I loved this place. Always simple, honest and quick (if you show up at the right time). I stopped in this morning and asked the attendant "can you check my battery and tire pressure? Is that a service you provide?" "Sure" was the answer. I went to the waiting room and sat there....for 30 minutes! This was 8:45am, not lunch time. Finally someone comes out and tells me my car is ready and the total is $130. What?!? I told him I had asked to have my battery checked not replaced. Was the battery bad? He left the room, went out to my car, dropped a bunch of f bombs I could hear in the waiting room with a closed door, came back 5 minutes later and told me he put my old battery back in, threw a wadded up test result of my battery my way and said "it tested fine" and left. When I went to my car it wouldn't start. Another employee came over to help tighten the connections and then he told me "you probably need a new battery". Holy crap! Here's how that conversation could have gone Grease Monkey "I'm so sorry there was a miscommunication, let me go test your old battery and see if a new battery is needed. If you don't need a new battery I'll switch it out for you and I really apologize for the wait and the misunderstanding". Then you wouldn't end up with a pissed off loyal customer giving you a 1 star review and looking for another place to get my oil changed. read more

We were in Boulder on vacation, scoping it out as a possible place to move to, so we didn't know the area. Grease Monkey had good reviews here, so when we needed an oil change, we tried this place out. We didn't have to wait long and the whole thing cost around $40 (which included a little extra for a particular kind of oil). I believe they charge something like $35 for an oil change normally, which is a fair price considering all that comes with it - such as checking various levels, filling your tires if need be and vacuuming. read more

RIPOFF !!! Went to have a $39.99 oil change done (which is not the cheapest in town) and was charged $51.99!! That is a 30% increase!! They padded the bill with charging me for a different kind of oil, saying my vehicle called for that (I've NEVER heard that one before), shop supplies and coolant. NONE of which I authorized. When i objected, the very cocky, arrogant manager told me he would take out the anit-freeze if i didn't like it, and that he didn't need my business. My friend then went and took his vehicle to Jiffy Lube on 30th Street and paid only $25 and was treated like gold. NEVER again will I go to this shoddy place. read more
