Desperate for a working car battery, I called O'Reilly Auto Parts on a Sunday as most other places were closed. Thankfully, they had the battery that I needed in stock (quoted $30-70 less than at other local places I'd called). I asked how much installation would be and was told if it was under the hood (instead of in the trunk or anywhere else a battery might be?), they would be happy to do it for free (!!!). I drove over immediately and they had my battery ready and waiting for me. A nice guy took the battery outside, swapped it with my old one, and took my old one away - all for the cost of the battery, which was only $120! I was absolutely THRILLED with the professionalism, skill, and price at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Very happy customer, thanks so much for keeping my car safe and active this winter and beyond! read more

I understand that is not easy for a business owner to find reliable and caring people to work for them. The service I had in the store in Baseline Rd. in Boulder was very bad. It was a simple and routine installation of a part. The person who installed the part was careless and reckless. He broke a piece in the process of installing the part. He did not seem that he wants to work at all. Next time I'll go the local dealer or install the part myself. read more

In fact, as headlights often do, the light on the other side went out just a week later, and once again, Christian offered to install the new bulb. He was friendly and most helpful. My new battery that was installed by O'Reillys failed on me after I filled up my car with gas two blocks away from their store. I called over and spoke to the store manager Ben Who was puzzled, and was gracious enough to drive over with the intent of taking a look, and potentially giving me a jump. Moments later he arrived he lifted up the hood and noticed that there was a bolt that appeared to be defective. He wiggled it and asked me to start my car of which it started immediately :-) he asked me to follow him to the store installed a new six dollar bolt-and everything worked perfectly :-) Once again, what a class act... He noticed that there were several of us waiting and seemed to need to announce his status a few times to his staff and all around. If I could give them less than one star I would. Terrible service. I went in to use a diagnostic test tool on account of my "service engine" light came on in my car. The guy at the counter talked to me like I was an idiot, proceeding to tell me that it only worked for the "check engine" light and I just needed an oil change. Well I took it for an oil change, and the mechanic told me that I did, in fact, need to run the diagnostics test. I later called to talk to the manager (Ken) about my dilemma and he was more rude than the boy at the counter. Needless to say, I will NEVER return to this auto parts store and will tell anyone who asks what a terrible experience I had there. I would recommend Advanced Auto Parts or Napa Auto Parts in Boulder as a much better alternative. read more

Just bought a new 12V battery for my Prius. Problem was that my old battery (a stock from 2006) was about 2" shorter than the new battery. Travis helped me bang and pull in the old bracket until it fit the new battery (almost) flush. He went above and beyond and saved me from getting a migraine in the process. I tried a "professional" parts store with a 4 character acronym for replacement taillight lamps, they did not carry OSRAM SYLVANIA, only WAGNER. I asked where Wagner are from, they asked questions about the model number, then said they had it.... I ask what country they are from, or what manufacturer... they would not say. I called O'Reillys, not expecting much. They had all three part numbers, in two packs by Sylvania-Osram from Italy. The price was lower than the no-name ones from the Wine Valley of California company. Pleasantly surprised, and no weird attitude in the store. Professional, fast and helped me look for something else. Seems Ken the manager has a clue. Also, the store no longer has those mopeds and lawn equipment that blow up on the first use. So they got the thumbs up for having the NORMAL brand ( they also had a chinese brand at about haf a buck a bulb less, so it was a choice ) read more

My extended family was vacationing near Nederland, CO, 14 of us, when we started getting vibrations in the steering system of our vintage 1946 Willys Jeep. Since we always had good luck with O'Reilly back in Arkansas, we called the store at 3275 28th Street in Boulder that had the parts we needed listed on their website. We explained that we needed a Rancho RS5000 #RS5402 steering stabilizer and all mounting hardware for a 1946 Willys Jeep. They took 10 minutes while we waited on phone before they came back and said they had everything we needed. Although the extended family had plans for the day, I excused myself and headed for Boulder, a 30 mile one-way trip from where we were. Got to the store and guess what. They had the stabilizer shock, but no mounting hardware to mount it to any vehicle, let alone a vintage Willys. Not one person in the store even had the decency to say "I'm sorry". The manager just said that he could get the hardware in in a couple days, because, as he put it this was not a common vehicle. I kept asking why they told me they had it, including hardware, if they didn't. He replied that he figured I could just use some U-bolts, although there was no way to attach them to the stabilizer. I had to turn around and drive back up Boulder Canyon empty handed. When I got back to my computer we found 4 Wheel Parts - Off Road Truck and Jeep 4X4 Parts at 7001 Federal Blvd. in Westminster, CO, they said they could have it by 8 am next day. They did and that afternoon the Willys was again climbing mountains. The fact that O'Reilly didn't have the parts after sawing they did was not as bad as the attitude of everyone in the store who were upset that I didn't want the part they had although it was worthless. read more

I bought a fuel cap which cost 9.79. I gave Kevin a $20 bill, he went to the register away from me and came back with 21 cents. I said where's my $10. He said "You gave me a 10", went back to the register and brought back a torn folded $10 and said that there was no $10 in his register until I gave it to him. I am 100% sure that I gave him a 20. Be careful of this scam. It was a very expensive fuel cap. Pay with a credit card! I won't be back and will tell everyone I know! read more

The employee hunted down what was not stocked on the floor, then changed the blades on my '91 Toyota pickup (NO simple task on that dinosaur) parked in front of store. I have always loved OReilly's because when something is wrong w my car, the employees have always been so helpful in helping me find the right part. They've shown me under the hood where it goes or given lots of help. (We are talking small things not major things). Today, I went in to ask how I could find where the fuse box was on my jeep and how to locate the abusing fuse (cig lighter) so I could buy the part and I could install it. There were no customers in the store and a couple of guys stocking things in the back. The woman at the counter literally raised her eyebrows, didn't answer me and looked at me w disdain as if I were speaking a foreign language. I told her that the reason I always came to OReilly's was that people were always willing to go over and beyond with service and help me find what I needed. She sighed an annoying sigh and said "I'm the only one here." Remember, there was not a customer in the store and there were guys stocking behind her. My car was parked in front of the door. I don't know this for sure, but I suspect this car parts employee had no idea how to handle -or research-this simple question. She had no intention of doing anything other than running the cash register so I said thank you and left. I drove straight to the Jeep place, asked the first employee I saw where the fuse box was, we looked in the manual for the cavity of the offending fuse and I bought the part from them for 2.01. (Thanks Andy! I'll be back for the bigger things!!!) It's just frustrating. OReilly's used to be my go to place- and I always told people so too. I wish people would take a page out of McGuckin's book and make the customer first. Just a little sad. read more

Bought a new Murray thermostat for my Chevy HHR prior to leaving on a trip. Seemed to work fine in cooler weather. As we traveled south in Calif the weather heated up. Once in So Cal the temps were running in the 90's and my car started to run hot and then overheated. Not being at home I had to take the car to a mechanic who asked the usual questions. When I told him that I had just put in a thermostat from O'Reilly's he said they would check that along with several other things. Long story short they told me that the thermostat was not opening all the way and they never use Murray Thermostats as they had too many problems. They put an AC Delco stat in. Guess what my temp was back down to 185 degrees from 201 to 244. read more

The Boulder O'Reilly courteously allowed me to exchange a set of snow chains i had picked up in Wyoming during a snowstorm but never used. The reason i had to exchange them was the Wyoming O'Reilly had given me the wrong size, and i only realized it today when i was researching videos on how to mount them. George, the Manager, not only took care of my exchange, but he gave me a substantially upgraded model for only $3 more.
