I rarely use merchants in my neighborhood as I have a "Nothing good can come from Bethlehem" mentality... I know it's stupid. Regardless, a neighbor had mentioned that they had some issues with service at this location as Covid had leveled the tech playing field. In a somewhat desperate situation I needed a key fob on one of my vehicles and went to them. The tech was quick, inexpensive and courteous. Then recently on another vehicle..( on a Sunday) I needed another key fob battery replaced. Again in hesitation I went to the 28th street location as my locksmith was closed. The tec was knowledgeable, quick and competent. We spoke of the previous issues and lack of available employees since Covid. I explained my fears of coming to this location and he said he understood.When it came time to pay I asked what I owed and he said nothing... If you just need a battery or a bulb and know what you're doing, this place is good. I can't recommend having them change a watch battery however. I brought an inexpensive (but favorite) Timex in last week to have the battery changed. Store manager was friendly and it took about 10 mins BUT he couldn't get the backplate back on the watch. He apologized and said it would take a little more time. I left the watch there for a few days and when I returned, still no go. He was very apologetic but I had a watch I couldn't use now. No charge for the new battery, of course, but it would have been $20. I took it to a watch store about a mile away - they had no problem getting the back on and replaced another battery for another watch for $15. I like the batteries+ concept and will use them for other things but definitely won't be taking my watches there again. read more

I had an appointment this morning to get phones repaired, made the appointment on-line yesterday, for 8:30 am today. I was on the way to the store when a young lady called: Me: Hello BP: Hello this is (I don't recall) from Batteries Plus about your appointment. I brought in my phone to have the screen repaired and battery replaced two months ago, I bring it again just to have the screen replaced. I pick it up and it won't charge and keeps turning on and off, rendering it unusable. The employee says he can't do anything about it and that he can't reach his manager and doesn't have the the phone number for the guy that fixed it. I then had no phone and had to miss work to bring it in the next morning just so they could tell me they didn't plug the battery back in correctly and did not test it to see if it charged after and that they could only offer me $10 refund for my inconvenience and time. They also continuously tried to pass blame to me and my phone being in bad shape even though it charged fine and held its battery previous to bringing it in. read more

So this place is fine. We called up to confirm we could get help putting in a new battery after buying it here. The man said he would be happy to help. It is advertised that they help installing for free. We came up to the store and there was one man inside. We bought the battery and then asked for help. He proceeded to say sorry he was short staffed. He did help us with tools which was nice but sat in an empty store not helping. We thought this would be an easy experience but it was not. I won't come back. We did get the battery in and he did recycle it for us but did very little to help. If they didn't advertise free installation as a perk I wouldn't be upset. read more

My day at Batteries+: I had to have my car jumped last Friday and today, 6/18, 2020, so I went to the Boulder Batteries+ store. Dennis was the only clerk. I had also brought with me two KEY FOBS that needed new batteries. This Dennis tests my already charged and driven auto battery; of course, it was fine! So my 3-yr warranty was null. Then I asked to have the batteries put in the KEY FOBS. Dennis took his time. He came out from his cubby hole with my BMW KEY pried apart and saying how the battery was soldered in it! I told him that he'd have to pay for a new key and that it wouldn't be cheap because nothing on a BMW is cheap. I drove directly to BMW on Valmont and ordered a new key to the tune of $230.76!!!!! Don't go to this store: popped in with a question on which battery my heart rate monitor needed, and the clerk who assisted me was obviously hung over, very rude in a curt way- yes he did get me the battery I needed- and then rang my purchase up when I was still asking questions about the item. I made an appointment and when I arrived the woman made a big fuss about how no one else should be able to make appoiments. She told me the tech would not be there for two hours and they didn't have the screen I would need until the following Tuesday. I came back in and left my phone and asked them to also check the vibration issue (I was having a screen replaced). When I came back the next day the guy had no idea what I was talking about and said he "didn't notice" the comment on my form about the vibration issue. Also, as I waited to be helped another guy kept asking the new arrivals if they needed to be helped despite my standing at the counter prior to their arrival. ISo, three visits later, I left with a partially fixed phone. I would have left one star but they did give me a 10% discount for the trouble. We have a corporate account here. However, we have to now order our batteries online as they don't stock Duracell Procell's consistently. Some times they have them, most times they don't. I can't even count the times I drove by there to pick up AA/AAA/C batteries just for them to tell me that they are out but "should have some back in a few days", and to then try to sell us different brands or no-name options. I thought I should promote local businesses (yes, it is a chain, but still has local people working there) and buy our batteries there, but it has been such a hassle that I have no choice but order them on Amazon, where they are cheaper too. We'll go there and to NAPA for our automotive batteries but since we can't count on it purchase other batteries online. read more

So maybe a little random to review a Battery Store...but with the phenomenal customer service I received...how could I not? I know a few things about cars, but really my knowledge is limited to how to jump a car, how to put gas in my car, windshield wiper fluid etc. When it came to figuring out how to change a battery in my car clicker...I admit I was a bit clueless. This younger guy at Battery Plus was the epitome of customer service. He had just walked in with his lunch in hand and instead of retreating to some back room, he put it down and greeted me with a huge smile and a "how can I help you?" Then proceeded to take the clicker, open it up, put a battery in it, and have it back together and me out the door in less than 5 minutes. Talk about easy! read more

I showed up right at 8am because my battery was bad. I walk into the store and a gentleman asked me what he could do for me. I said I needed a car battery for my 2012 Scion and also installed. He raised his hands in the air and yelled at me in frustration saying "ahhhhh!!" He said "that's what happens when you're the only here and I'll do it but if other people come in I have to help them and you'll need to wait" my initial reaction was "damn, sorry to inconvenience you by Asking You TO DO YOUR JOB!" This was a real disappointment. Occasionally I need specialty bulb and battery items and if what I need is not in my regular store options, I either call around until I find it locally if the need is immediate or I order it on the internet. I have called here in the past and never received an answer. Either no one answers the phone during open business hours or I am put on a dead end hold. Today, two generally good local sources for specialty light bulbs did not carry what I needed for an antique lamp. Both referred me here, so I just drove over since I was fairly close. The staff member did not even know the term for the bulb description. When I found one of these bulbs on a shelf myself (in the wrong wattage though) to show him, he did not even recognize the term "mogul base" printed boldly right on the package. But any lighting sales person should be familiar with it, especially in a store heavily devoted to bulbs. He had no idea where to find the correct wattage. If this store has so little help on the premises regularly, I can see why calling is never successful. If the staff doesn't recognize a lighting term, even when printed on a product on their store shelf, more training is indicated. I came home and ordered it on the internet. read more

Crazy service: Last summer I purchased a Duracell vehicle battery for my vintage Volkswagen. I couldn't understand why the car would always died. The battery would never stay charged. I went through the time and effort to diagnose and check all the wiring in my vehicle. They sold me a new battery and I didn't think it could've been the cause. After doing a load test in the store they believed I should replace the new battery. I was going to get a refund but the store clerk charge me for another battery and refunded me my bad battery. They did not catch this error of zero refund. I left the store with no replacement battery or refund. When I did go back into the store to discuss this error they said they found a battery and was able to give me that one. I got the battery home and I was going to put it on the charger to make sure it was all charged up for my vehicle.The battery towers look like they are already had use and there was a little bit of battery acid residue sitting on the top. I believe they gave me a used battery because it too wouldn't hold a charge. They said that the battery sat for a year on the shelf and that's why I didn't work. When I went back to return the battery I got a full refund. Nice Still: I will never go back here to buy another battery for my vehicle. I recommend not to buy car batteries here. The stock is old and they are picky about warranties. Goto sears or interstate batteries for quality products. read more

Virtually no service provided for my iPhone repair. Store reps seem unable to order a part they keep promising to have week after week. They seem to have lost my SquareTrade information on file which shouldn't be possible. And somehow SquareTrade reports they have closed the claim as a completed repair. So now I've paid for service never received and still have a broken phone to contend with. Absolutely the worst place to do business. I have read other reviews with similar horrendous experience and not only do I have to worry about having the store address this issue, but I have to be concerned as well about the security of my information. Everyone I know will certainly be advised to avoid doing business here. read more

THEY SELL BAD/DEAD BATTERIES - DO NOT SHOP HERE Two weeks ago my wife bought a car battery at this location which was dead on arrival. We installed it that evening in her Jeep and it was even more dead than the battery we had just removed from it. - Completely worthless. Days later (I had to wait for the manager to return from vacation) and after sending in several receipts at the request of a manager, they are cutting me a check for the cost of the tow truck I had to hire to take the car to a mechanic (admitting fault). The mechanic's report clearly states that the battery was completely dead. But, I'm not being reimbursed for the cost of the battery, or for the bill for the mechanic, because, as they say, they "don't know what occurred" with it. I don't expect every business interaction I have to go perfectly, but what matters to me is that a business have enough integrity to make things right when they create a problem. I'm terribly disappointed with this company and still feel owed over $200 for the worthless merchandise I was sold and for the mechanic bill that I never should have had to pay in the first place. The fact that they would only partially reimburse me is almost more insulting than if I had been completely ignored. Please, don't take a chance on a store that will sell you a dead battery and not even have the decency to make things right. Shop anywhere else. read more

Have had a couple of good experiences here w/ pleasant staff. First involved replacing the battery in my key fob...my fob passed the test they have in store and I was a little frustrated, thinking it was something wrong with my car. The guy explained that it was likely still a dead key battery, as the machine tests more of an absolute "is it working or not" - sure enough, replaced the key fob battery and all was good. Car battery died last Friday and I needed to drive to the airport at 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Needed it replaced ASAP. After a bit of a run around at Advance, took it to Batteries+Bulbs and Elliot couldn't have been more helpful. Steered me in the right direction and got it installed as fast as he could. Price was very competitive with what I had seen around town, too. Really it was just nice to chat with a very nice/pleasant employee while he installed my battery. All-in-all, it took about 45 minutes - he was the only one working so he had to help folks that came into the store...it would've been nice if there were two employees, but with a store that size it doesn't make a ton of sense. Anyway, will head back here whenever my next battery issue arises. read more

Did a bad job fixing my iPhone screen. Came loose in a few days. Leaving two areas where moister and dirt can get in. I came back in and he blamed it on a warped phone. First lie. Phone was fine except for the screen. When I said "why didn't you tell me when I brought the phone in that it was warped so we could have dealt with it then" he said "i did". Second lie. Right to my face without flenching. Never even offered to try to fix it or give my my money back. Unbelievable. This place has the candle'like compact florescent light bulbs for chandeliers. I love these kind because they don't need replacing hardly ever & they also don't get hot and melt my little lamp shades! This store had them in stock and in a variety of watts. They also had an array of batteries to stock up my house. I also found a power adapter for my kid's toys. Perfect! I saw that they will replace iPad screens and also smart phones. This place is awful when it comes to phone repairs. Brought my iPhone in for a screen repair. The employee did not greet me until he was done complaining about someone now showing up to work, then they didn't have the screen I needed. He told me to come back the next day and would give me a discount. Went back the next day, a different employee took my phone to repair by 8pm. Went in at 730 to see how it was going and he told me it would be another day until he could get to it. He was the only person there and was overwhelmed. Honestly I get being short handed, but this is now two days in a row and all they had was excuses. Bad experience. read more

This place is very helpful and knowledgeable about what their dealing with. I went in to get my iPhone fixed. The camera glass was broken so they had to order a new camera, it turns out that my phone wasn't fixable. It kinda stunk but they really helped me out! And they didn't charge me because they couldn't help fix it! And the prices are unrivaled, if I wanted Verizon or Apple to fix it, it would've been 2xs the price. I wasn't able to fix my phone but they told me that I can just peel the glass off the camera and it should work fine. I'll be back for future problems read more

When I got home, I opened the battery pack and soon realized that they were not rechargeable. Bought a motorcycle battery that died within 4 months of purchase. When I bought the "wet" battery I asked about the frequency of maintenance and was told "you rarely if ever have to add water and that is usually at end of batteries life." Well when it died and I tried to warranty it I was told that the failure was my fault and therefore no warranty. The clerk had an attitude like I was trying to rip off the store. I've probably spent over $1000 in the last decade on batteries in that same store but not again...keep your attitudes and substandard products. Recommend any of the local Boulder auto parts or motorcycle stores where they know how to treat customers and know their products. read more

I've always had great service at the Boulder store!! They've gone ABOVE AND BEYOND on several occasions to solve unusual problems with creative solutions. Last week, Mike and Jesse could not have been ANY more helpful in getting the new car battery I needed and installed. Previously, Jesse had tested my old battery and the alternator, and I was on my way in 5 minutes. When it was time for a new battery, I looked online and found Batteries Plus prices to be lower than Walmart's, O'Reilly's and Advanced AND they offered a 10% off coupon AND the core price is less AND they offer the option of paying online and picking it up at the store and having it installed at no charge AND they have a huge recycling program. On another occasion, the charging port on my laptop came out when my dog jumped on the cord making the battery unchargeable, and of course I had a work deadline. While I figured out if I wanted to repair it or get another laptop, the technician offered to remove the battery and charge it overnight, so I'd have a charged battery to work the next day. For three days, I dropped the battery off each evening just before closing and then picked it up each morning. Where else would someone have offered this service and followed through??!! NOWHERE!! I've heard from several friends that their phone screens were repaired quickly and for less than the Apple store with no problems. Batteries+ screen protectors cost less too. Sure, sometimes the line is long. That's a good sign! You know that they will be giving you their full attention to your problem just as they are doing with the customers there before you. I either run another errand and come back or check out their latest gadgets on display. I also appreciate how much their employees care about the problem I have and patiently explain my options. I always learn something too. Instead of spending hours online researching and perhaps purchasing the wrong item for a higher or lower price plus shipping, I'd rather just go and check with Batteries Plus first. If you go to McGuckins because you know they'll know what you need, then you'll want to shop here too. read more
