So I went by to the Absolutely Creative Customs shop a few months ago to get a quote for some speakers for my car. Joe came out and was honest about telling me that I didn't need any rear speakers in my convertible, but instead just some good solid door speakers with good audio insulation and some tweeters installed to give a full range of sound. Add an amp to get some quality sound out of my current stereo to the new speakers, and you're all set. I scheduled an appointment for a week or two later. I showed up the night before to drop it off. Joe was there, and I gave him my key. I was about to leave when he ran back out and told me that I was scheduled for the following week! Wow. I'm smart. Great. Now I feel dumb. Oh well, next week should work. Should've put it in my calendar correctly the first time! So I was going to drop it off the next week, but I was having another shop in town check out some of the mechanical stuff on my car, and I didn't want to have speakers installed if I was gonna end up needing to spend too much on engine stuff anyways, so I rescheduled again with Joe. I explained my thinking and they mentioned to me that even if they installed all the audio stuff and if I ended up wanting it taken out, they do that for free. That's pretty awesome. I didn't want them to have that hassle though, so I waited. My car was in the shop while I was on vacation, and I was supposed to have my girlfriend drop it off at Joe's after the engine work was done. I was on vacation though... and I forgot. :-/ So after messing up their schedule like three times, I finally set up a time and brought it in and they did the installation of the speakers and amp and everything was sounding really good. I tested it in the parking lot and cranked up the volume. The right speaker was cutting out when it was hitting really bass heavy notes. So I went back in and let them know. Joe dropped what he was doing, figured out what the problem was (some insulation had fallen down), and he fixed it in like 20 minutes. I was driving down the road listening to music with my new speakers for the first time, and I was like, "Oh man, so THIS is what this song was really supposed to sound like!" Seriously, the kick out of the Focal speakers is really good, and the quality and range of sounds from the tweeters makes it all so much better. If I had room for a subwoofer in my Miata, I would put one in, but honestly it's fine without it. I was really impressed that Joe and the woman that runs the office were professional and nice to me, despite me being kind-of a pain to schedule and work with. read more

The whole process was smooth and easy, coming in knowing absolutely nothing the owner joe explained everything top to bottom and even threw in a few things for free. Dropped the car off and it was done in 3 days. Sounds ridiculous easily blows any stock sound system out of the water even the top end ones from Audi or BMW. Made an appointment to have rear coaxial convertible component speakers and sound deadening installed and to have a 4 channel amp properly mounted. When I picked up the car, only the speakers had been installed. When I attempted to get the rest of the work done, I was basically told to f-off unless the entire audio system was purchased from them. Stay away from this entitled jerk. read more

Terrible work, worse attitude. I purchased a small uncomplicated audio system from AC Customs and had them install it in my vintage '72 BMW 2002. The appointment for install took a month to get scheduled, Joe then had my car in his shop for almost a week. This was to install a stereo, an amp, and two speakers, pretty simple. Every time I asked a question or inquired about when he would finish the car, he was rude, dismissive and curt. When I picked up the car I was shocked at its condition. The laundry list of broken and messed up items goes includes all of this: 1. He installed speaker enclosures 2 inches from the clutch pedal. Then every time you push in the clutch, your foot first hits the speaker, very dangerous. 2. Those speaker enclosures were installed over the hood release! That eliminated any ability to open the hood of the car. 3. He broke the emergency flasher switch, (a "no longer in production" item which cost me $150), he broke the faceplate he created and "halfway glued" it to another piece of plastic, it immediately fell off in my hand when I got the car home. 4. None of the under-dash trim was re-installed, they were just left in a box in the trunk. 5. The shift boot was jammed into the shifter housing and destroyed. 6. Screws were glued into the console and not attached to anything. I immediately contacted Joe after picking up the car. He was uninterested in my complaints, but said he would replace the speakers and the enclosures. I never heard from him again, and my calls to his shop do not get answered. AVOID these people at all costs. read more

Holy Hell! Joe listened to what I wanted, and advised me on what system would be needed to get the results I was after. It was a bit more expensive than I had planned, but Joe told me about the program he has to restore my vehicle to stock should I ever sell it - preserving my investment potentially forever. So I jumped. It was a full system install, and after everything had been delivered, it took a week to do the install, and another day for the tune. Unlike the guys up the street, Joe was able to keep my factory head unit (my request), keep all factory functions working, and made a great sound system around it. It sounded amazing! Joe told me to come back after the speakers had been broken in, to get the final system tune. I didn't think much of it, but finally got around to scheduling it many months later. I just picked it up this afternoon. Holy Hell! This system sounds AMAZING! I felt like a kid again, but with a *much* better sound system. I was literally BLOWN AWAY by the difference in the final tune. I drove straight to a friend's house to pick him up to listen to it. We drove around the block like a couple of teenagers, grinning from ear to ear. Words do not do this justice - you MUST hear it. Joe knows his stuff. Listen to him. You won't be sorry. read more

I am exceeding glad that I found this shop. Joe was great to work with. He is an artist and great at his craft so expect perfection over speed and its worth it...I got new remote start, Amp, Speakers, Tweeters and a sub. The box is custom and fits perfect. The Amp is installed perfectly, Wires routed cleanly with nothing sticking out or visible. Being a typical shopper of bestbuy/bigbox i was unknowledgeable of the brands but once I did some research and was happy with the choice. Once i got the truck back I could not be more happy! I would highly recommend absolutely creative customs based on the experience I had today. I dropped in and Joe was able to diagnose what was going on with our self installed system and to suggest a couple of alternative fixes. He got in there today so we had our car back before closing today which was very helpful and convenient. He did a couple of extra items as well without adding much to the bill which was a good idea. I searched the internet for stereo upgrade for my 2009 Mercedes SL550. It seems there's a lot of work involved from removing the existing fiber loop system and putting in a more modern radio but that wasn't the hard part. Trying to find space for a subwoofer seemed nearly impossible. In all the Mercedes forums, this was a common topic, since nobody had a decent solution anywhere in the world. Joe, at ACC, did some head scratching and came with with an idea and then went to work. He built a custom enclosure behind the seat and fit in a 10" sub. The setup sounds excellent and looks like it was installed by the factory. The work was amazing and Joe really took care of me and my car. I also liked that they took care of leaning up against the car with a protective cloth so they wouldn't rub against the finish, I liked that. When they were done, the gave it back to me washed and ready to put the top down and actually enjoy kick-ass sound while cruising around town. I can't say enough about the team at ACC, there's no way I'd have anyone else touch the entertainment system in any car I ever own. This makes an already sweet ride even more fun. Joe is awesome :) He's been helping me with my audio systems for the past five years. He is professional, communicates well, is affordable and is just a really nice guy. I started with just a sub, then Joe built me a custom box for it - I've had the same one for 3 years. A few months ago, he installed new tweeters and a Bluetooth radio for me - one of the new speakers was cutting out and Joe spent the better part of a week off and on tweaking it for me. My VW's Turbo went out last week so I'm planning on trading in the car - I got it towed to Joe's shop, he pulled all the audio out for me and is going to install all of it in my new car. Its not everyday you find a shop owner who you trust to have your car towed to. Not only that, but one who won't up charge the shit out of you if you don't know a lot about car audio. I had a tape deck and my iPhone hook up for 4.5 years and Joe only ever mentioned upgrading when my radio wasn't giving enough power to the new tweeters he installed (that had finally given out). read more

I had Joe install am few things on my wife's 2008 Acura MDX. He install a viper smartstart, allowing us to remote start the car from our iPhones. And he installed a USAspec unit that allows us to plug in our iPhone's digitally, directly to the car stereo. He did an excellent job. I'm very meticulous about anything that might be "off" and I couldn't tell that anything was ever done to the car. We couldn't be happier. He's also an excellent communicator, and takes the time to fully explain features and how to operate the devices. I wouldn't hesitate sending any work to Joe, and highly recommend him. read more

Joe just finished up a multi day project completely redoing the sound system in my E46 Bmw m3. The job was absolutely amazing. The attention to detail is top notch. I had front and rear focal speakers installed, amp, alpine sub and Kenwood deck. No hanging wires. Trim pieces were mounted back exactly as they started. End to end perfect install. I'm impressed with Joe's knowledge of car stereo equipment. You can just tell by the way he talks that he knows what he's talking about and will make good recommendations regarding your car. Even though I was willing to spend more money on my system, he actually recommended that I not make changes that didn't make sense. This is quite refreshing when other places will encourage you to waste your money on unneeded improvements. And Joe charges a fair price for his work. I'd say he's probably inexpensive compared to other places. And Joe has the attitude that the customer is always right. I didn't get a feature in my system that I thought it came with, and Joe cheerfully swapped out the system for a better one with only a small charge. This is one of the most reputable, respectful places I have been to in Boulder. I came in because my amp wasn't working properly and they fixed it in literally a day. Turned out the amp needed to be replaced because someone previously had stepped on it. These guys noticed I was a college student with a tight budget so they helped me out and had an extra working amp lying around from a previous upgrade job that they gave to me and only charged me for the work it took to put it in and the initial analysis of what was wrong with my system. These guys are so straight forward and trustworthy. I wish there were more people like these in boulder and around the world. I had nothing but trouble from this company. My radio was intermittently going off; Joe tried to repair it. The problem continued. I then purchased a new radio; the new radio had the same problem, leading me to believe the problem wasn't with the radio. Joe did fix the problem with the new radio, however he left the USB cables hanging over the brake and gas pedals. In my 2 appointments with Joe, he was an hour and a half late for the first appointment (no apology) and 35 minutes late for the second appointment. Actually, I'm not sure how late he was for the second appointment as I left his shop after waiting 35 minutes without seeing Joe or getting the work completed. The reason given by the receptionist for his not showing up on time for my appointments is that "he's been working very hard lately." Really not at all sure how he stays in business with this dreadful level of customer service. read more
