The guy (angel p) here at the cash register has a really bad attitude. He took our order and I told him we would eat outside. We watched people go in and out with food that arrived after us. I finally got tired of waiting outside and went inside and asked for our food. It was sitting in a bag on the counter for who knows how long. The guy didn't even tell us our food was ready or even that he couldn't take it out to us. The chicken was cold and this guy does not belong in customer service. I will never go back here again. Good Stuff! I would recommend ordering a meat and rice combo only. Why you might ask? ALL OF THEIR COOKS DON'T KNOW HOW TO STEAM VEGETABLES PROPERLY. It's a serious problem that only this location seems to have and its ALL of their cooks. When i bring friends over and they don't heed my warning, they end up slapping themselves when their veggies taste like cold cardboard. The last two times I've been here the vegetables they served were rotten. After getting rotten veggies again today, I asked the staff had any fresh broccoli and carrots after showing them the black spots in the veggies they served. They said that's how the veggies looks when they get them delivered. Gross. The food is good as it is at any Flame Broiler. With a menu this simple it's hard to screw up. What this particular location does though, is make the place really unwelcoming in the evening. This place consistently begins closing the front of house at least an hour before the posted closing time. We often enjoy patio dining with our dogs, especially on nice summer evenings. We arrived just after 7pm to find the patio tables already stacked and chained. In addition, half of the interior tables have the chairs inverted atop them. Every time I dine here in the evening they look like they're ready to close. It leaves me wanting to go someplace else, to a restaurant that is interested in making customers feel wanted. Minimum wage and the 2 employees I see makes starting to close at closing time cost a whopping $21. If their margin is that razor-thin maybe voting with my wallet will make a difference. read more

Just left this place and was absolutely disgusted by the service. Jessica, the cashier rudely turned away a customer that came in right after us at 7:50 because the manager said they had to close early (8pm is there closing hour). We ordered and were told our veggies were not available because they "like to throw those out early." They charged me an extra $1 for white meat after I had questioned if they could do it on the house considering they short changed us on the veggies; no concession was made and I forked over the extra $1. After receiving our meal, I politely asked if I could speak to the manager on duty and was told that there was not one available. I proceeded to ask for key holder or supervisor on duty and was denied with the excuse that "they are all equal" and no one is above anyone. Surprisingly, I reiterated that I would like to speak to the person in charge of closing out the registers and the store and was denied. I was further denied the corporate office information or the franchise owner's information. Then an employee from the back, who after repeated requests for her name said their name was Rebecca, chimed in and told me that I was an angry individual and that why was I so upset over veggies. I clarified to her that this was more a customer service complaint and was asked to leave. We were further harassed by all the four employees that were there and were berated. The cook from the back even came forward and tried to strong arm us and threatened to call the police because "they were trying to leave." As a local business owner, I am absolutely disgusted by the way that we were treated and will be contacting the franchise owner, better business bureau, store manager, and chamber of commerce. I watched them treat another customer with disrespect and then they treated me with the absolute least lack of consideration. A little more expensive than other Flame Broilers I've been to, but whatever, it's in a good location and the rent is probably expensive. Still a good deal. Food came out quickly and it was hot. Dining area is clean. Cashier was nice. My chicken bowl tasted delicious like any other Flame Broiler I've been to. I have been eating flame broiler over 5 years at various locations. My usual is chicken and veggie bowl. Today, I went to the pasadena location a bit early 10:54 am and ordered the usual to go. The chicken tasted great but had quite a bit of cartilage and the parts of the rice contained very hard parts (meaning old rice). As long as their doors are opened for business, they should serve fresh food. I still love the flame broiler concept but won't be visiting them unless it is at lunch rush or after. read more

Oh my I love this place so much. The bowls are always on point, adding some of the sauce they have available wouldn't hurt though. The service is really fast! My order was ready before I even sat down at my seat! There's a lot of parking available since its In the shopping center with vons. Just like any other Flame Broiler, it always hits the spot with a quick fix. The staff is friendly, the place is clean and a little bit bigger than others I've been to. They also have a TV (maybe a 50"?) usually playing sports, which is kinda cool. Outdoor seating is also available, too. read more

I've been a vegetarian for 10 years now. I went to flame broiler on Colorado and Sierra madre in Pasadena. After asking for a tofu bowl to go, I come to a tofu bowl with chicken in it. My frustration and disgust with this location is beyond words. I will no longer, EVER, return to this location or this franchise. I had faith as a consumer that they would be able to accommodate to a vegetarians needs, which they obviously couldn't. Voicing my experience is not to get anything for free, but to warn my fellow vegetarians to be on the look out for their lack of attention. read more

Went in a couple days ago to give them a try. I ordered the Chicken Veggi bowl special. When I received my order I took it to go. When I arrived home I discovered that I was given a chicken bowl.......no veggi's. It was pretty clear on my receipt " Chicken Vegi". Don't know how they screwed that up. Other then that everything else was good. The chicken was tender and the rice was cooked just right. the Magic sauce ( AKA Teriyaki Sauce ) tasted good. This place is great. I think healthy food shouldn't taste "blah" and this place got it right. They not only offer you healthy food but they give you DELICIOUS food . They have Chicken, beef and ribs with your choice of white rice or brown rice along with fresh veggies( they even sprinkle scallions and add a slice of orange). I love their food. Check it out... area is sparkling clean, order comes out quick, food is delicious and no MSG is added. Workers are exceptional and very friendly makes you feel at home. Especially the cook in the back (Miguel). When he is cooking the food is even tastier! He already knows what I order and has it ready by the time I get to the counter. You should come visit them. This place just opened up a few days ago and I have to say that it's definitely one of the better Flame Broilers. The place is real clean and professional unlike the one in Westwood. The manager seems really nice and lively and he came around and made sure everything was great. I love this place! Perfect for lunch. Simple menu, but very tasty and not too expensive. Service is always speedy and its nice and clean inside. I find myself going here more and more for lunch, and thats a good thing! This place is great if you are in need of a quick bite at a reasonable price. I am on a diet where i am supposed to eat a certain portion of meat and brown rice x times a day. I had a small lunch today, so I was starving by 4pm. I work a block away from here, and it always smells good when I walk by, but don't let the smell fool you. I ordered a combo plate and it was $9 something. The food looked pretty good too, until I ate it. OMG...The beef tasted like beef jerky, and the chicken was burnt as a piece of charcoal. I can't believe they have the balls to call the beef Angus beef. They call it a salad, but it's just chopped cabbage. I paid almost $10 for this garbage? No wonder the food came out so fast...
