    Window For Walk Up Orders

I love it in and out. It's the Healthiest burger and fries for fast food. Quality ingredients. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service and atmosphere are cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Sheldon Cooper and Ronald Reagan could have picked up a burger from here!

This is supposedly the oldest In-N-Out still in operation in Southern California if not the chain. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's the original style layout with such an emphasis on drive thru that there's only outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was there on a Tuesday night and by 8 o'clock the car line was pretty long. I walked up and there was a bit of a wait to get a person at the window, but once business was done in about 10-minutes I had a good/lukewarm burger plus fries that were better than I-N-O average. Backing it all up was some of their tasty beverage to wash it down! Burger could have been a bit warmer, but it was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Exterior access restrooms were available, but they were top quality for that type.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Hot cocoa with marshmallows on a cold rainy day always brings smiles

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This In N Out location is aaaaalways packed. I've never seen the car line less than the piano store.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However I do see that the associates hustle and try to get the orders quicker by going further down the car line. Truly appreciate their hustling! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their kitchen is small so it's incredible how many associates they pack inside to make all that food![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The parking lot only has 3 spots so I wouldn't count on being able to grab a spot so I usually try to avoid the car line and find street parking around the block and walk to place the order at their window. One rainy day, my daughters and I stopped by to claim their free cheeseburgers from the library book club and the nice associate Charbel offered them free hot cocoa with marshmallows. Aww that made my daughter's hearts melted with joy.

The line at the walkup window went pretty fast for a Thursday at 1:00pm. Got my usual - hamburger, animal style, extra everything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Careful sitting by the parking lot - motorcycles are smelly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Burgers tasted great, fries were Luke warm at best. This drive thru has always taken a long time in my opinion. But when we got to the window it seemed like they were just playing around. Which would make me understand why it always took so long. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plus because the area is so small they have to go back n forth to get more prep items.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Which halts the line as well if they run out of something.

I enjoyed discovering this In-N-Out Burger location. It is the oldest operating In-N-Out Burger in the U.S. It opened in 1952 and is known as store number 5. Before In-N-Out Burger started opening in other states in the 90's, you could only dine at one in Cali. In my family, we would always stop at an In-N-Out on the way to Disneyland or SeaWorld for summer vacation. It was a fun treat and I would buy a t-shirt and wear it all the time. Even though we have them back in AZ, I still usually only visit them when I am in California. I enjoy keeping it a fun late-night treat for myself when I am visiting. I was in Pasadena recently and was feeling that late night craving for In-N-Out Burger. It was midnight and this location was the closest one to my hotel. I was blown away by the number of cars in line for this place. The line went several blocks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I got a glimpse of the store itself, I could not believe how small it was. There was a double drive-thru, no dining room, ONE palm tree (most have two) and a small parking lot that can only hold a handful of cars.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had never seen an In-N-Out concept like this before. But then I did not know this was the oldest operating store before coming here. On top of the building was its trademark arrow pointing to the restaurant. Except this one was neon yellow and green instead of red. The sign is now a historic city landmark. Another fact that I read is that this store was the first to offer milkshakes. Because there was nowhere to park, I parked a couple blocks down the street and walked over. There were a few people in line at the walkup window. The kitchen area is so small and employees were bumping into each other constantly. I used to work fast food back in the day and cannot imagine working in these conditions. But the service was good and food came out in under 20 minutes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Because it was after midnight, there were several characters hanging out in the parking lot in the back of trucks. I definitely inhaled a lot of second-hand smoke that night waiting for my food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is a busy In-N-Out location. I am not sure if I will have a chance to eat at this location again. But it was cool knowing that I ate at a historic In-N-Out Burger location. And as always, my Double-Double with fries hit the spot.

Could never go wrong with InnNOut. I like to order their fries well done with grilled onions on top! Burgers are delicious and you can't beat that price for the quality they serve.

The…read morerecipes and the preparation techniques are still part of the perfection of Pie 'N Burger tradition. Who would have thought that a sandwich from 1924 would continue to be a classic landmark throughout Pasadena, Los Angeles, California, and the US? When I lived overseas it was one of the few places that everybody knew the name of and what it was known for... it has become a part of an American tradition. When I walked into the quaint location, just off of Lake Avenue on California Boulevard, I felt like I was brought back to another era. Brianna was working the counter area and asked what I'd like to eat. I asked for some suggestions; I wanted a variety of different things that would give me a sense of what they could do as an old-style diner. She was quick to talk about the original Pie 'N Burger cheeseburger. I let her know that I wanted the deluxe edition. It's called the Big Ben. It's a double cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato pickles, onions, and bacon. This sounded perfect. I also wanted fries and onion rings. Chicken tenders were next on my list as people had talked about how good they were with their homemade dipping sauces. The Apple Pie was the sweet conclusion of my takeout order. I enjoyed the ambiance as my food was being prepared. There was a great smell and sound coming from the kitchen that indicated that everything being made as customers waited. After a short time my food was ready. I was asked if there was anything else that I wanted to add to my order, and was handed the bill. It is well known that cash is the only accepted payment. And they do have an ATM available. When I got home and unpacked my order, everything was still hot. I wasn't sure what to start with first! I decided to try each item as I unpacked it just to get a sense of the flavor. French fries were great - long fries with a crisp exterior and great for dipping. I decided to dip in the blue cheese rather than using the traditional ketchup. Good choice, their blue cheese and other sauces are homemade. You can taste the difference. Onion rings were also crisp exterior surrounding the onion. Also great for dipping! Chicken tenders were fried with a lightly fried exterior and moist and tender. This is a great appetizer to share. The Big Ben Burger lived up to its reputation. Large, flavorful, and a great eating experience. The American cheese with the lettuce tomato pickle and bacon was a great mix. The flavor of the meat was prevalent. To say that it was a mouthful would be an understatement! The dessert was the piece de resistance and worth waiting for...Apple Pie. The crust embraced the flavor of the filling. Flavorful apples with a little bite. Definitely homemade and full of fond memories. Like a really good apple pie should be. The best part about this experience is that I now look forward to coming back and trying other items on the menu. The Patty Melt, French toast, chili cheese fries, and boysenberry pie are all on my list to try with my next visits. Great experience, great food, friendly service!

Today my wife had her usual burger and a root beer float. I wanted something different so I ordered their chicken pot pie. Being a child of the sixties and from a large family, I'm no stranger to chicken pot pies. My dad would buy them in bulk when they were on sale at ten for a dollar. Well, I've had the Pie 'n Burger version a couple of years ago but the one today rocked my world. Yes, a good chicken pot can do that. Anyway, our meals were outstanding and only topped by the excellent service we received from our waitress, Tyler. She was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Even though my pot pie needed to be heated just a bit longer after it was served, she made it right by warming it up some more. It was piping hot and delicious!!! When the bill came she apologized for the way she served the pot pie and didn't charge me for it. I was blown away!!! Rarely do you receive customer service like this is at a restaurant in this day and age. Pie 'n Burger is an "old school" kind of place with good food and desserts and "old school" friendly service. Thank you Tyler! You are a special kind of person.

I thought I already reviewed the best burger in Pasadena!…read more On my first visit, a standard burger was $3.95. I forget what it is now-- $6??? As good as this burger is, it's still a deal. Super Burger is owned by a super-nice Korean family. There are various Korean dishes in their menu available but I only go there for the burgers. What makes their simple burgers so great? First off the burger patty-- the patties are formed in-house. The cooked patties have that irregular edge that can only come from being hand-formed; imperfect and delicious. These aren't the frozen discs delivered by a freezer truck. The ratio of the ingredients are ideal. -- The tomato is sliced to the perfect thickness -- The freshly-shredded lettuce doesn't manspread and take up too much of the burger's real estate -- The thousand island dressing marries the freshness of the veggie section to the animal part perfectly -- The burger patty's girth is appropriately balanced for the other ingredients. -- Their buns have that old-school yeast(?) flavor not available in stores. Their burgers are lovingly prepared and assembled with care. This is why whenever I go, there are always people there. Seating is strictly patio style, looking out onto the intersection of Altadena and Villa. There lot is small lot next to the stand. I'm not sure if it's shared with another business. Street parking is available. Even though super burger is basically a corner burger stand with patio seating, the place is always clean. Super Burger is definitely a sure thing.
