My first vist to the new store. The atmosphere was a bit louder then im used to, but i actually liked the 80's rock so can't complain. Everything was very clean! The only reason I'm taking points off is because it's freezing in there. They need to put some more ducts in the kitchen area so they don't have to turn the air conditioning down so far. Stopped in with my kids after a movie to see what the hype was about. They boast reviews that they're the best burgers around, but I found the food to be just okay. The fries were WAY too salty. My dogs wouldn't even touch the most salted ones. The burgers weren't bad, but they didn't blow be away. My son and I went here today. Food was decent. May just be my imagination, but the burgers seemed a tad smaller than last time I was at a Five Guy's, which was quite some time ago. Burgers were ok, nothing mind blowing and the fries were good. Was in Five Guys tonight. I wanna say around 7:30 -8ish?? There was a woman complaining that something was wrong with her order. Gave the whole staff an attitude and wouldn't let them fix the problem. She was basically just there to ruin the shift . But they were so professional & tried to accommodate her and fix the issue. I frequent In and Out to get beef patties for my pups. Today, Five Guys was more convenient so I stopped there. Not bad! This still isn't my favorite burger place in the world but I still enjoyed it! I went with a simple cheese burger with lettuce,tomato,pickles,and onions. My most favorite part of the burger was the juicy meat cooked perfectly! I also enjoyed the buttery bun. I also had great customer service. I also ordered a side of fries,the fries were excellent and perfectly cooked. To most places I go to the fries are greasy or cold,but I didn't have a problem with these fries at all! They also give you free peanuts that I also enjoyed. I will definitely be coming back here and I also think that it would be a great place to go to with friends. Even though they really don't have much things to order but burgers and fries, you can't mess with the classics! I definitely recommend coming here and also think it would be a great pit stop for when you are on a road trip and are looking for lunch. read more

If you are allergic to peanuts, this is not the place for you. Peanut oil, peanuts all around. Frankly, I think that's dangerous, someone might be allergic and not be expecting that, like a child, etc. VERY expensive for what you get. Small servings and very greasy. A mocha shake ordered turned out to be vanilla. Would have been far better at In-and-Out. Lastly, this place has high microwave radiation inside and on its patio areas, which I measured, being electro-sensitive. Very high and unhealthy for everyone. A bad experience, all around. I still don't get what the big deal is on this place and all the quoted reviews from national publications about "heaven on a bun", "best burger", etc. When they first came to the SD area I went to the Liberty Station one and was totally underwhelmed. Now several years later I decided to give the one near work (Poway) a try to see if it was just a fluke. Nope...I'm still underwhelmed. The burger is pretty bland I did the bacon burger with tomatoes, jalapenos, and hot sauce. Still didn't find it all that spicy nor flavorful. The beef is pretty bland and boring such that I bet the cows the beef came from were beige. The fries are OK but not the best I've had either. And the price is a bit loco: over $13 for the bacon burger and small fries and small drink. The fries and drink alone are $5.08 which is kinda nuts. They should just offer a $1.99 combo-izer as small fries and small drink added to any sandwich or hot dog. I get it's a double-patty and the size of the small fries is pretty generous, but I think I'd rather pay about $10 tops and get half as many fries (who needs the calories of a huge serving of so-so fries) if they make them crispier and even just a single burger patty if they can kick up the flavor of it somehow. In the meantime, I may make the trek over to RPQ to Smashburger instead. People were friendly, the place was clean, etc. and I will give a small point for the very versatile coke machine with all the flavors, but the food is just so bland. It's the Mitsubishi Galant of Hamburgers as far as I'm concerned. read more

It's Five Guys what can I say. Always a great "go to" place for burgers and fries. Lots is seating inside and out. Very close to desert too!! Free peanuts. If you've never been to Five Guys you've got to try it. Build to order burgers and amazing fries!! Get a side of Cajun seasoning for your fries. So far since moving back to San Diego, Five Guys is the only burger place I actually enjoy. I love the classic cheese burger with tomato, lettuce, raw onion, ketchup and mustard. At Five Guys the floor is lined with peanut shells, the walls covered in their achievements, and to pull it all together, and the red and white checkerboard pattern that is apparent at every Five Guys. The favorite over at Five Guys is the "build your own cheeseburger", I say it's build your own because it is a regular cheeseburger that you can add whatever toppings you want, from grilled mushrooms to A-1 Steak Sauce. Though it doesn't matter what toppings you get, the burger is still delicious, and oh so juicy. The first bite is amazing, I think Marshall from How I Met Your Mother puts it best "oh, what heaven that first bite is. There are also options of sandwiches, just like my personal favorite the BLT. The BLT stands for bacon lettuce and tomato. Such a simple sandwich, but it works in harmony to make something delicious. The warm toasted white bread, the just off the pan bacon, the cool lettuce and savory tomato, I don't know how it happens with only three ingredients but I know they are doing something right. What a disappointment! Just a couple of weeks ago I went into the Escondido location to finally try this burger. OMG! It was awesome! So imagine my excitement when I discovered they were opening up this 5G's in Poway near my work! We decided to go there for lunch today and I ordered the bacon cheeseburger which is exactly what I had a few weeks ago. Now, I know you guys just opened up and there are always a few kinks that have to be worked out. But man, if you guys don't fix yourselves up (quick) you'll be closed in no time here in Poway. Especially after people that have already had great burgers at other 5G's locations. Let's start by saying that the service was fast and friendly. In fact we got our food faster than the Esco location...that being said, when I bit into my burger and saw how red it was in the middle I realized why. Bummer #1 . It was swimming in mayo. Bummer #2. The meat was just gross, not sure why but it was tough, not very flavorful, and just not as good as I remembered.. Bummer #3. And Bummer #4, The fries were completely soggy and salty. Yuck! I didn't even eat them. They weren't crispy at all. The sign on the wall says all burgers are cooked well done. I'm not that picky and I did eat my burger even though it was an under done sloppy mess, but when you don't get what you expect it's just a bummer. Especially at those prices! Pull yourselves together 5G's in Poway or I'll make the drive to Esco and have it done right. On the plus side, it's a great location. Nice outdoor eating area. and like I said, great staff. Opening the foil I was surprised at the sloppy presentation. Ok, all that is good isn't pretty so on to the taste test. The first bite tasted pretty good but more than a little soggy, then I looked at the burger. The meat was pink, and not just at little, this burger was medium rare. I'm not one to make a fuss, in fact I've never in my life sent anything back at a restaurant, however believing this was a safety issue I approached the counter and asked to speak to the manager. The manager was busy at the fry station and sent over an associate. She looked at the burger, no comment on the obvious undercooked state but said they'd make me a new one and I could eat or throw away the burger. She said something to the manager about the issue but it appeared to me that he was unconcerned as he shrugged his shoulders without a glance in my direction. Nothing was said to the person cooking the burgers during the time I stood at the counter. This was unfortunate because the burger they quickly handed me was equally undercooked and like the other went into the trash. The meal was not a total loss; the fries were very good and I didn't think they were over-salted as others have mentioned. I understand the challenges of training staff and opening week issues and my review would have been positive if the issue had been acknowledged rather than dismissed. Hopefully these training issues can be resolved to ensure a safe (well-done, according the the 5 Guys website) burger. read more
