As good as it gets, perfect warm the soul and belly LUMPIA during the HOLIDAY SEASON. Order early and don't miss out. Sooooo Goood!

The food was not good. The meat on the kare kare was tough, the lumpia had no flavor. Their pancit had almost no vegetables and meat.

I've tried a few things here and I'm only a fan of the veggie lumpia, it looks more like a egg roll because how big it is but it's so good with the vinegar they provide. They are usually sold out tho, I'd say 4/10 times they were sold out of the veggie lumpia, I guess a lot of people like that one.

Every time my work has a potluck, I usually bring lumpia from Lumpia House. If for whatever reason I can't attend, someone else will bring lumpia from here. 100 pc is always just enough for 40 ppl and everyone loves it.

Pre-pandemic, I came in here a few times to give coworkers a "taste of the Philippines" and they have all enjoyed the food enough to come back. My visits recently have been few and far between. The GOOD: The food is decent, especially the lechon and sisig. I have come is just to have lechon or sisig and have always left satisfied with either. I get my lumpia fix elsewhere (from mom), but I'm told from the guests I bring in that the lumpia is good. It looks good and they always have some hot and ready to go here. I'm also told the dinuguan is surprisingly meaty, unlike other places. The pancit here is basic, but far better than I can make it. Haha. I'm still working to perfect my recipe. They have a small Asian grocery store inside and feature a surprisingly large collection of different Filipino ice cream and snacks. The NOT SO GOOD: The mechado I had recently was so full of fat I didn't finish it. I just ate the veggies and tossed the rest (sad face). SERVICE: Service is slow! It does not matter if you come in right when they open or right before closing time. There is only one person assembling your order and taking payment so if there is a line (like at lunch time) you will need to bring your patience. Overall, there are several food options and snacks to be had here that make it with the visit. Just do not come here if you are in a hurry and you will ok.

We went on a Sunday afternoon, and was surprised they didn't have many choices of entrees available. I'm Convinced we missed the lunch rush and they were gonna close since it was qlmost 3 pm? i think im spoiled when compared to the southbay san diego choices. cons: they dont overpack their food. they dont give you a lot of rice like other places. not bad, but they only give you enough. The Adobo was overcooked and kind of burnt. We didn't bother returning it because afraid they might be offended. also the Picadillo wasnt that great. it was very watery. pros: the crispy PATA, is the only thing I think is worth it to eat at this restaurant. It cost $24.99 and you have to wait 16 minutes for it to be cooked fresh. If I was reading this only on the PATA, it would be 10 out of 10. Everything else not so much. The staff redeemed itself by offering us more rice when we received our PATA. My guess my overall summary is there's not much Filipino food choices in Miramesa. So I guess this is the blessed place that you can deal with. I am still craving that crispy pata.

The food was beautifully presented, incredibly delicious, and honestly one of the highlights of our wedding. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful and special. This wasn't just wedding food. This was EPIC. Chef Andy handled everything from start to finish, which meant my husband and I had one less major thing to worry about on a day when there were about a thousand moving parts. That alone was priceless. He and his team were professional, organized, gracious and simply incredible. Pineapple fried rice had lots of pineapple, cashews, raisins and the curry flavor came through. Red Curry was loaded with veggies and eggplant as well. Some of the best curry I have had in San Diego. We ordered Chicken Red Curry spice level 4. This was more like an 8!!! This was super spicy that it was a little difficult to eat. The fact that they charge for white rice, is insane. You can't eat curry by itself so I was surprised that we were charged for it. We also ordered Chicken Larb, which was good, veggies were fresh. The third dish was the Drunken Noodles with tofu. The noodles weren't as fresh as I would've liked. It didn't have that bouncy texture. Instead it was soggy and sad. This was also a level 4 spice and this was also super spicy. I tried the Lemon Thai tea, which is basically like a Thai iced tea without the milk and more tart. Instead of lemon, they had lime. I guess they ran out of lemons. We also had the mango sticky rice, which was pretty good. Rice was the right amount of sweetness and mangos were soft and ripe. Food came out super fast and service was friendly. Kinda pricey for the food we got at 91 dollars. Didn't know about the already included tip, which is not advertised like some other Yelpers pointed out. There's so many other great Thai restaurants in SD. This was just okay for me.

That Monday, I redeemed my free birthday breakfast at Dennys, met up with my wifey for a couples massage, and ended my evening by eating dinner at Kusina ni Tovi. Being able to chow down at a Filipino restaurant that's near our home was the proverbial icing on my birthday cake. If you're familiar with where Hoorah Breakfast Cafe and Bar is located in Rancho Bernardo, then you'll easily find Kusina ni Tovi because this restaurant can be found in the same spot. It is situated in the same strip mall as Perfect Pizza, RB Sushi, Pho Hoang Express, and it's across from McDonald's. Not sure what's the relationship between the owners of Kusina ni Tovi and Hoorah, but they are run by different people. While Hoorah operates from 7am to 3pm, Kusina's hours are Sun-Thurs 4:30pm to 8pm and Friday-Sat 4:30pm to 9pm. Take advantage of their Happy Hour specials from 4:30pm to 6pm. Open mic and karaoke night occurs on Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 9pm. The dining space is the same as Hoorah's with plenty of seating, distressed laminate flooring, and a brick facade wall. You order from the register and you'll be provided with a number if you're dining in. The young man behind the counter displayed quality customer service and the family who runs Kusina were friendly and kind. There aren't any closeby Filipino food options in the Rancho Bernardo area. For me to get my Filipino food fix on, I either have to drive to Poway, Rancho Peñasquitos, or the North County Filipino food mecca of Mira Mesa. When I found out that Kusina ni Tovi was a Filipino restaurant, I was like a kid in a candy store because Filipino grub is one of my last meal requests when God calls me home. My Filipino family aren't as enamored as me when it comes to Filipino food, but since it was my birthday, I got to choose where we were having dinner. I had to order one of my fave dishes, which was sizzling sisig; we ordered lumpia; ordered chicken bbq skewers; full size of pancit bihon; and you can't eat Filipino without a full size of garlic rice and a side of white rice. The sisig is served on a hot sizzling skillet with minced pork, chicken liver, chopped onion, and fried egg. Combine this mixture of meat yumminess with rice and this birthday boy was one happy dude. Lumpia aka fried spring rolls were too small for my liking, but everyone likes lumpia. The chicken skewers were the stars of our meal because they were cooked perfectly, marinated, hearty, and we devoured these. The pancit bihon is rice noodles with sautéed vegetables, chicken, and shrimp. This was beautifully presented and they aren't stingy with the noodles, chicken, and shrimp. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes we ate at Kusina. I'm thankful to God for allowing me to celebrate another birthday and I'm thankful to the owners of Kusina ni Tovi for opening a Filipino restaurant nearby, so that my Filipino food cravings can be satisfied quickly. I would order everything again, but I definitely want to try their other dishes and their Halo Halo, which is a refreshing and sweet Filipino dessert.
