A friend recommend we try this location as we were in the area and needed a quick bite to eat. It was getting pretty late, but we were able to slip in and enjoy a great meal before they closed. We tried an array of different items from an appetizer or two soups and main dishes. Everything was nice and hot super tasty and we left with a ton of leftovers. Delicious Thai food! When we got there, happy hour was going on for food and drinks which was great. I got a thai tea, and shared a mango curry, chicken larb, and crab fried rice. Everything was super flavorful and delicious. I wasn't sure if the mango curry would be too sweet but it was the perfect taste. Spice is strong so we went with mild to medium, and they have dry and wet spices to top the dishes with. Amazing delicious Thai traditional Thai dishes. My favorite choice is Larb Gai, ground chicken and slow roasted rice powder, red onion, mint and cilantro in lime dressing makes my mouth watering and my other half's fantastic choice is Gang Keaw Waahn grilled Salmon and healthy broccoli, green bean, bell peppers peas and bamboos and whole nine yards. Tucked in a strip mall in Rancho Bernardo sits Charm Thai Kitchen, a casual Thai restaurant. With seating indoor and outdoor, its relatively a small restaurant but the wait is not long at all. For starters, we ordered the Larb Gai which was great with its sour and distinct taste, great way to start the meal. For the mains, we ordered the Chow Mein Noodle with generous amounts of chicken and shrimp, great noodle dish. Chicken Pad Thai which is always a must when craving Thai. Loved this and tasted as expected. The Crab Fried Rice was a standout to me as you can really taste the crab come through on every bite. I would order this again in a heartbeat. For Curry, I just had to try the Panang Curry and I just love that coconut base as it covers the rice. Great dish for all the Panang Curry fans. Service was great and the food came out fast. It's not our first time here, but it's but a while. Experience and food is the same as I remembered. I called in an order on a weekday dinner, spring rolls, chicken larb, beef see ewe, calamari see ewe, mock duck pad Thai, 2 orders of mango rice. Service was nice, but food was meh and cost was expensive for what we got based on portion and flavor. Spring roll was basically rolled lettuce in rice paper. That's it. Their dipping sauce was extremely bland as well. My kids would normally eat 2-3 ORDERS anywhere else, they didn't even eat 1 roll each here. That's an indication on how bad it is. The calamari in the noodle smelled extremely ripe, it shouldn't. Fresh seafood should not smell that bad or be that chewy. Maybe we should have chosen a different protein, but by have it as an option then? Chicken larb was flavorless. It not herby, no umami to it, not authentic at all. Even the texture was off. I have never had any chicken larb like this. Perhaps it was made catered to this specific neighborhood, but RB has 3 other Thai places that make Thai food much better than here. Another great lunch at Charm Thai. I tried their Thai Green Curry with tofu for the first time and it was yummy! Level 6 was particularly spicy on Friday, but I had to finish it! Their lunch special comes with edamame and a fried veggie roll. I also ordered the fresh tofu spring roll as an appetizer. Their peanut sauce is delicious. Service is also great. Charm Thai is one of my favorite places to visit for yummy Thai food in north county. They have a really good lunch special where you get a salad and eggroll with your entree and there are a lot of entrees to choose from. I gave this review a lot of thought before deciding to post it. We've been loyal customers of this restaurant for the past seven years and order from here almost every week. That's how much we love the food. We always do takeout, and I'm usually the one who picks it up. You would think that after so many years, they might recognize a regular customer or at least have us in their system, but that's never really happened. I've let that go because the food keeps us coming back. Last night, however, something didn't sit right with me. The restaurant was very busy, and orders were running behind. There were four people ahead of me waiting. As I stood there, I watched each of them receive their food along with a complimentary drink for the delay, plus a warm apology and a "thank you for waiting." About 25 minutes later, my order was ready. The person behind the counter simply placed the bag on the table, called my name without even looking at me, and moved on - no apology, no acknowledgment, no courtesy like the others received. I politely brought it up. One staff member responded rudely, saying everyone else had waited longer and that I "only" waited 25 minutes, as if there's a minimum time requirement to deserve basic courtesy or an apology. The person handing out the orders said he didn't mean to be rude, but when I said that all customers should be treated the same way, he had no response. I can't ignore the fact that everyone ahead of me who received apologies and complimentary drinks was Caucasian, and I was the only brown person there. Draw your own conclusions. It was disappointing to experience this at a Thai restaurant we've supported so faithfully for years. read more

I ordered off Uber eats for lunch today so my review will be strictly based on the food. I felt a bit under the weather so I ordered myself a tom kha and panang curry. Unfortunately both dishes fell a bit short for me. Tom Kha: Portion size was great. I ordered a 5 in spice level expecting it to be moderately spicy since Thai restaurants usually don't mess with heat but this had an extremely mild heat. The shrimp I got as the protein was overcooked and rubbery. I love onion but this came overwhelmed with thick onions. 6/10 Panang curry: Portion size was great. The consistency was too watery for my liking. Barely any heat in the curry (level 5). The beef was also overcooked and very chewy. The bits of broccoli were my favorite. The rice was cooked perfectly. 6/10 If I were to come again, I'd go to the actual restaurant. I'm betting my proteins became overcooked because I opted for delivery instead of eating in. I'd up the spice level to a 8 (which seems daring for Thai) to get some of the heat I desired. Lastly, I'd opt for a noodle dish instead of a curry. 6/10. read more

The food here is always delicious and the portion sizes are very shareable. My daughter typically gets the pineapple fried rice and I typically get the pad Thai and the Larb salad. They have gluten-free options as well, which is something that makes me happy because I have a gluten intolerance. The servers are always super nice and attentive, and the ambience is very chill. The one thing that I don't really understand is why they close in the middle of the day so they're closed I think at about 3 PM and then open up again at about 5 PM or 5:30 PM.
