Great tasting food with great service on a dinner visit on 3/20/2026. Our faves are Shrimp with scrambled eggs and the Dry Sautéed Strings Beans. You cant go wrong!

A few days late, but I had to leave this glowing review about their service. I had ordered a meal and there was an issue for me with that meal. They said come back and we'll correct it for you and you'll leave happy! My meal was replaced and they threw in an order of egg rolls on the house and that made happy! I can't say enough good things about Ma's House. The food is out of this world as well.

Authentic Chinese restaurant located in Poway. Lots of traditional dishes with a specialty in their beef roll and sesame bread with green onion. Some of our favorites are the stir-fried lamb with cumin, filet mignon with black pepper sauce, and the seafood tofu soup. Portions are decent and prices are comparable to other similar restaurants in Convoy. Service can be mediocre depending on who you get. There is a man who we've had a couple times as our server and he can be rude and dismissive. Big parking lot shared with the adjacent stores, never had any issues finding parking.

The place has plenty of seating Fast and friendly service Authentic Chinese food..we.got the egg flow soup..garlic chicken with jalapeños and chicken friend rice. The quantity is good portion size. The garlic chicken had amazing flavor and spicy. I also got boba thai tea which was a big size.

Service is nice. The parking in front of the store is just 15 mins. We were looking forward to the handmade noodles ($1 extra), but they weren't chewy at all. It felt like they were already cooked once then cooked again. The broth was good and I like the pairing with spinach for the beef noodle soup. I kept getting distracted by the bugs flying around. Eventually, they were eating with us too (see review photo). Not a fan of pre-dispensed water sitting on the side with this many bugs flying around the store. Bathroom is a little dirty. Sticky ground. I would give them another chance but probably would not come here again. I feel itchy when I see so many bugs flying around in an indoor establishment.

It was my first time having beef roll. It was not what I was expecting but I was defiantly plenty surprised. Sweet and tender and the veggies were really fresh.. I also had the chicken fried rice. With a little chili oil the rice was perfect. Can't wait to go back. The restaurant in Poway is also Halal.

This authentic Chinese restaurant is bright, warm, welcoming and very clean. Staff here very friendly and made fantastic recommendations on the menu. Wide variety of choices. The lunch specials here are the best value and excellent, flavorful dishes. Lunches here come with soup, egg roll, rice and a large portion of entree. The orange beef, green onion beef and 3 flavor sizzling rice soup were outstanding. We had a massive lunch for 4 people for under $60. Amazing. Value here!

Great service here! A group of us was in for dinner on a week night to celebrate a birthday. The waiter heard and brought out a slice of cake for us! It is not something they usually do, especially Chinese restaurants. The staff was really nice and friendly. Made all the difference between a good dining experience and a great one. We ordered a few dishes for dinner and had it family style. We like all the dishes we ordered. They were able to make modifications to the dishes. For example we asked for chicken chow fun instead of the usual beef chow fun. No problem! There are a lot of vegetarian options. It was one of the reasons why we picked this restaurant. One person in our party was a vegetarian, another was gluten free, another doesn't eat beef... there was something for everyone!

    Terrible Kung Pao Chicken
    Dan E.

The highs and lows of Ma's House! While I spoke highly of their Orange Beef, which was exquisite, their Kung Pao Chicken was another matter entirely. It looked and tasted like it was cooked in a Crock Pot, rather than a wok. A soupy brown gravy, soft chicken and very little discernible spice heat. Completely devoid of any wok hei. Quite possibly the worst Kung Pao I've ever been served. The Chicken Corn Creamy soup this visit was very tasty.

Thank you for having me late around 8pm (I know you guys have to close soon ) , I didn't eat lunch yesterday so I was so so hungry. You guys are always amazing service and food ! I ordered beef stew soup with the rice noodle but came out bean noodle instead, but it was EVEN Better!! They are really good and never give me disappointment. Thank you again !

Finally tried this place after seeing so many people talk about it and it definitely lived up to…read morethe hype. The soup dumplings were the highlight for me. The wrappers were delicate, held the soup well, and tasted fresh. Also ordered the beef chow fun and spicy dumplings which were both really flavorful. What I liked most was that the food tasted authentic without feeling overly greasy or heavy. You can actually watch them making dumplings in the back which was pretty cool. Staff was friendly and the place was clean, though it does get busy during peak hours. Definitely feels like one of those hidden gem spots in Poway that you end up craving again later.

Ordering is done via an ipad at the table but they're available for any menu questions and quick with water refills. Food is SO GOOD. You can really tell the dumpling wrappers (for dumplings, xiao long bao, and wontons) are handmade. They're more springy and al dente and beautifully wrapped. We ordered a ton of food and everything was really tasty I didn't react fast enough with photos. Xiao long bao are a MUST - and you gotta enjoy it with the vinegar and ginger! The cucumber salad is WAY better than ding tai fung's in both taste, texture, and portion! Chili oil wontons were big and deliciously fragrant, not spicy. Pan fried pork buns were crispy on the bottom with a soft and pillowy bread and juicy meat filling. We also got the combination fried rice which was beautifully golden eggy and full of meat & shrimp. The green beans were flavorful and not overly oily. Fried chicken wings were one of my favorites! Last but not least we also ordered the chonqing spicy chicken - not too spicy, full of numbing peppercorn goodness, fried lightly and very criispy. The restaurant is well decorated and clean, very spacious and good for groups. There's a cute gazebo table right at the front too. Plenty of parking in the plaza lot. . A great place for authentic Chinese food. Will definitely be returning!

Food: 5 Service: 5…read moreAmbiance: 4 After living in Poway for 25 years, I only discovered Joyee within the past two years, and honestly, I have no idea how I missed it for so long. Joyee is a legit, homey Chinese restaurant that delivers every single time. The service is friendly, no fuss, and very efficient, whether it's busy or slow. What really stands out is the food. It is always fresh, piping hot, and insanely delicious every time we visit. No matter when we come, the quality and consistency never change. Everything we've ordered has been amazing -- from the boiled fish and boiled beef to the walnut shrimp, salt and pepper fish, Mongolian beef, and the green beans with garlic, which is my absolute favorite. Every dish hits the spot. We've also ordered takeout many times for family gatherings, and the food always travels well and is just as good at home. We are always left super happy and super stuffed after every visit. If you're looking for a solid Chinese food spot in Poway, I cannot recommend Joyee enough. It has moody lighting inside and they have little table lamps that give it a swanky feel. The worker who served us was friendly and attentive. Our waters were quickly refilled. We got pork chop suey, chicken and broccoli, a mushroom dish, and rice. I liked the variety of veggies that came with the dishes. A lot of them had mushroom in it. My toddler even enjoyed the mushrooms. One of the mushroom dishes came in a cute small cauldron pot with a handle. The bad: Because the food came out so fast, we didn't have time to sit and talk with our guests. I thought the spicy beef dish we got would be with the numbing peppers the way I Imaged most Szechwan dishes to be but it wasn't. The rice was a bit clumpy and didn't taste the freshest. The interesting: Heat levels are mild, medium and hot but a hot is more like a medium. We got hot for our beef dish and it wasn't too hot. This place has several other locations.

I've lived around this area for a few years and I did know of Chins because I always passed by it…read moreand knew it had a few locations but never got the chance to try it. On a random night since me and my partner weren't sure where to eat we decided to finally give Chins a chance since it was close by. Upon entering we were actually surprised at how nice the interior was. This isn't a typical hole in the wall Chinese spot but more of a nicer sit down restaurant. After speaking with the host we were quickly seated and provided the menu. Looking through the menu you can tell this is a Chinese American spot so I wouldn't expect traditional Chinese dishes here. Once again we were indecisive on what to order so we just told ourselves to get at least one of each standard meat and went with the salt and pepper wings, tangerine beef and Shanghai pork. The salt and pepper wings tasted good but unfortunately they are quite small. Some other Chinese American spots do charge more for wings but they tend to give you a generous amount in those cases. I did appreciate that it was doused in a lot of garlic and that they included wonton strips but I'm not sure the price justifies it. On the other hand the entrees did provide a lot of food and they didn't skimp on the meat here. The Shanghai pork tasted similar to braised pork dishes I've had in other Asian dishes but just a tad milder. As for the tangerine beef we only went with this because we've had orange chicken at other places so many times that we wanted to switch it up. Thankfully the switch up worked because it was delicious; less tangy than other orange meat items but still solid and had a prominent orange taste. Both of the entrees were lightly fried and did not have an excessively crunchy batter which could be a con for some people but in this case I liked the texture in both items overall. Service was friendly and attentive so no complaints there. My waiter tried to speak Cantonese to me but unfortunately I don't speak Cantonese so perhaps the next Cantonese speaker can chat hum up for me. Overall although the food and service were good the only minor issue I have is with the price as it is definitely slightly more expensive than other Chinese restaurants or even other Chinese American spots. Despite that i won't knock them too hard on it and I'm still happy I finally got a chance to visit!
