I've been driving by this location so many times that I finally made the effort to stop in and try it out. I decided to order one of their 99¢ fish tacos and an order of fish and chips. The fish taco was satisfying and delicious. Paired with the fish and chips, it was a great and affordable lunch. The fish was crisp and flaky and they provided a mountain of fries to go with it. They inciuded all the fixings to go with the fish. Plenty of tartar and cocktail sauce and limes. I was impressed with this place The service was outstanding as well. Friendly and efficient. Don't believe reviews from 20 year olds about tacos on TikTok Yes this place is cheaper than any Taco store in SD. Most of the tacos are $2.85. Some 1.25 but the quality is I mean cheap is cheap, and I was willing to give it a shot to prove me wrong. Also, when you order chips and salsa, there is no real salsa they give so you are just paying extra for chips. They give you free sauce anyway but it's hot sauce not salsa even if you ask them the cashier person doesn't understand this. And the chips are not good either!!! About 6 high tops and 2 lower 4 top tables. Outside they have three picnic tables WITH umbrella!! Brisas was my server and she was very nice! Let's talk chips. They are served warm and have a good amount of salt. The salsa are green and red and are pretty standard heat and quality you'd expect of a San Diego taco shop. Fish tacos, were as expected. Small corn tortillas, shredded cabbage, fried fish, onion, tomato, cilantro and fresh lime. You cannot beat this price for fish tacos! And they are something I would eat again! It doesn't quite look like the picture on the menu page of their web site though with the covered canopies as it looks like they were holding some sort of event. There are about a total of four or five benches along the the left side of the building and at the front. I appreciate the seating areas they have outside (which, going through older photos have changed a bit in terms of the kinds of furniture). The food was a good amount for me, good portions. Fish tacos despite the price were still a good size, but not huge. In fact, with my order of beef rolled tacos, I had trouble finishing my second fish taco! My partner really liked his meal. I have since went back two more times and been absolutely satisfied with everything we have ordered. My partner ordered the Everything Fried Rice and I ordered a Crispy Beef Taco. He really liked it but said he would pick a different fried rice since each bite being a different meat or seafood was a bit strange. And as a lover of all things crunchy, the Crispy Beef Taco was delicious, and matched the price of 4.75 in comparison to the fish taco (.99). The last time I went I ordered three fish tacos, which was perfect for me. Others might want four fish tacos as the amount of fish is slightly smaller than the other tacos. My partner ordered 2 fish tacos and a carnitas taco ($2.75) and liked it all. Obviously given that we've been there now three times we like the place and the prices. A great local spot to enjoy some fish tacos and beer. You might be aware of their $0.99 fish tacos (dine in only), and it really is great value! You can easily add rice and beans to your order for a bit more to make it a meal. While these aren't the best fish tacos you can get, you can't beat the price. For the chips and salsa, I wish they provided a chunky salsa or pico with the chips. Their shrimp ceviche was okay - shrimp is fresh and plump but the flavor was very sweet, tasted like ketchup. Personally I would like it more tangy and spicy. Beer here is affordable (bottled only) and the overall ambiance here is relaxed but also lively. If you're dining in, just walk right in and find yourself a table of choice. My party ordered a total of 5 fish tacos, 1 order of french fries and a coke. The fries came fresh and hot! I love the skinny fries, it wasn't salted (as requested), came with ketchup. You can taste that it's fried in fresh oil - so that's a bonus. The tacos came piping how too. The fish tacos were tasty and lightly breaded so you can scarf down many fish tacos. Came with a creamy white sauce and they brought me 2 bottles of hot sauce to use, a red and green sauce. The adobada fries were tasty too with a decent size, excellent seasoning on the meat, and plenty of toppings. Service was a bit slow and I had to wait a while to get the menu and then waited another long while for someone to come take my order, but the food was tasty and great value. Been coming here for years for their gigantic $9.75 California Burritos and chips and salsa $1.25. The value is quite solid here as the burritos are huge and the chips are freshly made and hot. Recently my friend told me about the $1 fish tacos which are an absolute steal! I ordered 4 of these to try and for the money they are very solid. They are a bit more bland than the rest of the menu but if you're hungry this is crazy value. If you dine in, you are treated to very friendly and attentive table service. There's plenty of seating and I've never had to wait to be seated even during peak lunch rushes during the workweek or peak dinner rush times on weekends. They kept our ice waters filled to the brim consistently without needing to ask for refills. This is a great spot when you're at the DMW next door, if you've just completed a marathon shopping session at the Walmart next door, or if you're around the Poway area in general. They don't let you sit inside if you show up half an hour before closing time, This was a disappointing experience. When we arrived, there were still plenty of customers dining inside, yet we were told by the employee at the counter that we could not sit indoors and could only sit outside or take our food to go. Being told this in front of other guests was awkward and left us with no real choice but to take our order to go. Adding to the frustration, one of my family members had recently recovered from the flu, and with temperatures around 62°F that evening, sitting outside was not a comfortable option. As a result, we had no choice but to take our food to go. What made the situation even more confusing was the explanation that they close the dining room at 8:00 PM because business slows down. However, shortly after we arrived and placed our order, two more customers came in, followed by another couple, all looking to dine in. They were given the same response. Based on what we witnessed, the restaurant did not appear to be slow at all, and there was clearly continued customer demand. The food was fine, but the customer experience left a lot to be desired. My only request to management is to consider keeping the dining room open until at least 9:00 PM. The steady flow of customers after our arrival suggests there is still enough business to justify it, and it would create a much more welcoming experience for guests. read more

I came here for the first time today because I heard a lot of positive comments from people, but was severely disappointed. Our fish tacos came out with moldy cabbage and when we told our server he said he would go show and tell the chef, but never came back. I didn't get a picture of the original cabbage I took off my tacos, but it was a piece of purple cabbage with yellowish/orange marbling on the cut part along with other green pieces of cabbage with black mold (not pink/purple). We later told another staff member but he just shrugged his shoulders and said that's the way it comes, it's store bought. We asked to just pay for the taco we unfortunately ate and the manager told our waiter that we needed to be charged for the entire meal that we were not going to eat (7 .99c fish tacos and 2 adobada tacos). We asked to speak to the manager and she backpedaled on everything her employee had said. There's currently a really bad parasitic infection going and this establishment did not care and they were aware that their cabbage was bad. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants -- the kind of place I'd look forward to stopping by every time I drove back from San Diego. I really don't know what happened to their service. When we walked in, no one greeted us for a while. During ordering, the server didn't take our order seriously and completely forgot my meal. My husband finished his food, and mine still hadn't come. Only after I gave the server a long stare did they finally come over -- but not to check on my food, instead to ask if we were ready for the check. I mean, seriously? I told them I was still waiting for my food, and the server just walked off -- no follow-up, didn't ask what I ordered, didn't rush it. After quite some time, my husband had to go ask again, and that's when they realized they had completely missed my order. And here comes the most ridiculous part -- the server who originally took our order asked me, "Do you still want it? Would you like it to-go or eat here?" Another stop on our Taco Tuesday tour with the best taco deal ever! Only $0.99 (dine-in) for their lightly battered fried fish taco. We also tried the garlic shrimp, octopus and the camaron puerquito tacos, which are higher in price (see menu photo). We did enjoy the fish tacos (the price made it taste even better!) But our favorite taco was the camaron puerquito because it had the biggest flavor explosion. The garlic shrimp taco was nothing special so we would skip it next time. The non fish tacos are not $1, but instead range from $2-$3. We also ordered chips and salsa for an appetizer. The fish tacos were pretty tasty! They're not the largest ever, but pretty decently sized for the price. Tbh eh come with cabbage slaw and pico, drizzled with a white sauce. The fish batter was crispy and delicious. I have never had a pulled pork taco but I was pleasantly surprised. The meat was cooked to perfection and had a sweet smoky taste. The adobada taco was good too and they definitely didn't skimp out on the meat. The chips tasted fresh like made in house. The salsas were just okay. Our total for everything for 2 people was $10.73.
