Visited 7/21/2025 The Burrito Factory 12265 Scripps Poway Pkwy, Poway, CA 92064 It's a small place with indoor seating and some outdoor seating. The menu is large enough but sadly because the floodlights shining on it makes it hard to read easily. The glare is bad. Also a shame they don't have any To Go Menus either. ‍‍‍ To bad as they do have a good selection of their Own Recipes. Only two people working on this visit. The Young Lady at the front counter was nice and friendly and the gentleman in the kitchen did a good job keeping up with the orders. Seems they do a lot more takeout than dine in. For me after studying the menu on Yelp I decided to order a few items to eat there nice and fresh. Started with, "The Factory Plate Combo" Includes A large Fish Taco , A Nicely Stuffed Shrimp Burrito, Beans and Rice. $18.49 The Fish Taco was OK but not Great. The Shrimp Burrito was very tasty with lots of Shrimp and a Tasty Creamy Sauce. And The Beans and Rice were tasty and pleasing. To back that Plate Up I ordered "Two Beef Birria Street Tacos" $2.99ea They were quite tasty and good for the price. Will do them again sometime along with "The Shrimp Street Tacos" and "The Carnitas Street Tacos" Washed it down with a Large Fountain Coke. I also decided to grab a Monster Breakfast Burrito to take home for the next day. The Grande Factory Breakfast Burrito. $16.99 WoW it was super Sized and Long as my arm Stuffed with 3 eggs , Bacon , Potatoes, and Cheese. Double Wrapped. The size of 3 regular Burritos. At home I cut it into Three Pieces. All in All this place is not bad. Prices might sound a little high but the serving's are large for the price. Worth a try if your in the area and hungry.

Ordered a steak and egg burrito with no egg (as clearly seen on the receipt) due to my son's egg allergy. Got home only to find out the burrito has egg in it. My son was a good sport about it and decided to eat it anyway. He took Benadryl beforehand and started eating the burrito. Not more than 3 bites in, he was starting to have a reaction. Soon after, he started to feel nauseous. NOT HAPPY with today's events. When I specifically ask for a food item to NOT be in the cooked with the food, it's for a reason! Now my son is down for the count for the rest of the day. Oh, I almost forgot to mention...we have a discount card that wasn't honored today as well. I showed the card to the lady and she acknowledged it, but upon reviewing my receipt, there was no discount given ‍. We like coming here because of the close proximity to the house, but today's experience is making me reconsider coming here again. The lack of attention was horrendous!! These guys have to do better if they want repeat customers. Based on today's overall experience, I have to give this the lowest rating possible.

Small Mexican restaurant in a neighborhood plaza. There's not many restaurants in the area to compete with it. It used to be El Patron. The portions were large and they had daily specials. I had the bean tostada, chicken taco, and rolled taco special. It came out covered with cheese and everything was deep fried. Lol! Nice and crunchy. The little salsa bar was nice with pickled onions, limes, hot carrots, and a handful of different salsas. We came in for dinner on a late weekday and it was pretty dead. Only 1-2 other tables with customers.

If you enjoy wet-on-the-inside burritos you'll love this place. The Burrito Factory is a rebranded El Patron. It's basically the same except for the name and a few cosmetic changes. That's a good thing because I always enjoyed El Patron. The food at the Burrito Factory is defined by their gooey cheese and creamy sauces. You'll also get beans and rice inside and probably a generious portion of guac. - The taco bowl is basically the ingredients of one of their burritos over a pile of cheap lettuce. - Nice salsa bar. - Their quesadilla looks like a burrito. - They actually clean out the mud vein (poop) from their shrimp. Most taco shops leave it in.

The chips and salsa were a standout -- the chips came out warm and perfectly crispy, and their salsa isn't the typical red kind but it's incredibly flavorful and not too spicy, which made it really easy to keep going back for more. Service was excellent and the staff were very attentive. The space is also large and comfortable with plenty of parking, which makes it an easy spot to come back to. We don't normally sit at the bar but the restaurant was packed (as expected for a good place on a Friday night) so we sat at the bar. For me personally, I don't usually interact with the staff unless it's ordering our food but we had the pleasure of meeting Bella, she was very friendly and fit right into our conversation. Although it was extremely busy her and the bartender seemed to move quick paced and anytime our salsa or drinks were empty bella refilled them without asking which was awesome! You can tell they enjoy working here because of how much fun they were having, it's nice to see staff enjoy a job rather than loathe. Again it was super busy but the bartender made drinks quickly and Bella kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything which is unusual because when a place gets busy and more people come in sometimes staff doesn't check in as frequently or I feel a little bit neglected but this place was fantastic!!! Everything tasted amazing, I would definitely recommend the Fajitas and the chips were perfect! We all got T&T Cadillac Margaritas and unlike other places you can actually pour the grenadine on your drink yourself which I prefer! All and all everyone was incredibly kind and it was a very fun environment!! Definitely going to be coming back soon!!! Thanks guys!

Date of visit: March 29, 2026…read more I was in the area getting some Easter gifts, and as it was lunchtime, thought I'd owe it to myself to check out Jalapeños Mexican Food. I placed an order for five rolled tacos with the works (lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and guacamole), and a regular drink. While I was waiting, I munched on the free tortilla chips I was given paired with some spicy chunky salsa from the salsa bar. It's a good thing that I had the chips, because while there was a good bit of toppings on the rolled tacos, they just wouldn't stay on top of the order. Not just that, the rolled tacos themselves were a bit disappointing. Yes, the tortillas were crispy, but the filling was kinda... meh. And the worst part? Despite an order of rolled tacos and chips with salsa, I was STILL hungry after I left. I would've have liked to see if there was a combo of rice and beans that was available with the rolled tacos, but that menu board above the counter was TINY. And I felt rushed by the staff because I was trying to see the script, as well as a sense of rudeness overall. Otherwise, Jalapeño was clean, if not a bit on the crowded side. I was surprised though, that there was a line of customers almost out the door as I was leaving... but perhaps that was because there's not that many Mexican joints in this area of Carmel Mountain Ranch (unless you want to count Taco Bell across the street). Overall, while I'd like to try more of the menu, it'll be a hot minute before I come back.
