Dear Five Guys Poway, you guys are awesome. It's 720 and my husband decided I should try Five Guys out for the first time. I came in and it's mildly busy but even then you guys are still working with a smile on your face. Service with a smile is so important. Even more than that, this location is so clean. Especially for end of the night on a Saturday for a burger joint. The guy at the counter was so kind and patient with me as I ordered for my family of 6. He was so helpful and even gave me some recommendations about order sizes. Ultimately I haven't tried the burgers yet but boy am I already impressed. Thanks for a good experience. This is a fun place to go if you are in the mood for a simple meal of burger and fries. There are some other choices as well, but most visitors go for the burger combo. They are quite proud of their fries, even posting the Idaho sources of their potatoes. They also brag on the meat, which they say is not ever frozen. Good on them, as frozen to thawed equals dry to tasteless. If you want a quick bite, this might be for you. Parking is plentiful and easy. Perhaps wrapped in the normal paper wrapping it wouldn't absorb as much. "Dunno?!?!" And how about a tray instead of a bag you have to tear at the table to make a placemat of sorts. Too messy! recently visited the Five Guys in Poway, and overall, it was a great experience. The cashier was incredibly friendly and took the time to explain the prices and menu, which was a nice touch. It definitely didn't feel like a typical fast-food experience. I've worked in fast food before, and this was on another level in terms of service. Now, onto the food. The burgers? Absolutely amazing. Juicy, flavorful, and well worth ordering. Honestly, I should've just gotten two because they were that good. The hot dog, though? Not worth it. Way too overpriced. I could make the same thing at home for a couple of bucks. The fries were okay; they're fresh and made from real potatoes, but let's be honest, what fries aren't? Nothing particularly special about them. The restaurant itself was decently clean. The bathrooms weren't spotless, but they weren't terrible either. Just some stuff on the floor, which is pretty standard. One thing I really appreciated was how disability-friendly the location is. They even have separate tables designed for accessibility, which is a thoughtful touch. Now, the biggest downside: the price. I paid nearly $50 for two hamburgers, one hot dog, one order of fries, and a milkshake. That's pretty crazy for fast food. While the quality is great, it's definitely on the expensive side. Came into the restaurant and ordered a lil cheeseburger. Very disappointed with this establishment. They got my order wrong. I did not ask for onions and mustard, but I got it. Sad face! Another visit and another home run. I tend to visit during non-peak times, so admittedly they aren't very busy, so perhaps that makes a difference. But let me say without any reservations this is my personal number one favorite to get a full-on burger just the way I want it. We've lived in 3 different states now, and been to multiple locations in all of them and this location is our go-to when we come back into town. Service is always friendly and helpful, peanuts galore if you want, and rarely much of a wait given they're making your burger fresh exactly how you ordered it. Again because we go at non-busy times it helps but it is a welcome respite on a hot day, a soda list longer than your arm, and the best fries anywhere around, hands down. FYI . . . standard burgers have 2 patty's which is a patty too much for me, so for the two of us 2 'little burgers' and a 'little' fry to share and we're stuffed. We're old(er) and for some reason just can't eat like we used to . . . just a word of warning! Love, love, love this place and the team that makes it so great. OK, I know there are some less than stellar reviews, and like anywhere else I'm sure it can happen, but I've never once experienced that and based on numerous visits, this is hands down my go-to burger spot (at a reasonable price)! read more

First time trying five guys in a while and I forgot that their regular burgers come with two patties. If you're not huge on meat, the little burgers are recommended because those only have one patty. Went to Five Guys with a couple of friends last Friday. Paid $24.95 for a burger & shake. I didn't want french fries, but the guy at the counter said it would cost me more if I didn't get them(!). I was a craving a burger and went straight to Five Guys in Poway. It was shortly after they opened, around 11:30am on a Saturday. Firstly, the lady (Syntonia?) at the register was SO genuinely friendly and sweet. I watched her interact w multiple customers and she was very welcoming. Managers, you must keep her on! When my food came out, it was the tasty burger that I expected and the fries were very hot and fresh. I love that the fries are skin-on and the Small size is really a Large anywhere else--they are always generous w the fries. All in all hit the spot! Yes it seems kind of expensive compared to fast food burgers, but even those aren't cheap anymore, so for a bit more, I get better quality, all the peanuts i can eat, and a pile of fresh fries so that's ok! read more

The place was welcoming, and I like the part where people can draw on a Post-it note and post it on the five guys board in the restaurant. But the food was just all right like the fries were the best out of my burger and shake I would say the shake was pretty chocolatey and nice. The fries were salty and a little sick and it was pretty good as well, but the burger I would have to say it was better than the In-N-Out Burger, but not as good as Burger King or McDonald's. The noise in the place was bearable, but I would have to say it was louder than subway and a McDonald's what quieter than a packed bar. I went to this Five Guys location and i didn't like it. If you like a $15 burger with big chunks of gristle in the patty then this place is for you. I didn't like it and it gross me out. This Five guys restaurant only offers outdoor seating in the patio. However there are many outdoor tables with coverings or umbrellas nearby. There is no soda dispenser available due to COVID protocols so you will need to order a bottled soda from over the counter. During this pandemic, the quality of their burgers is still exceptionally delicious. We ordered their standard size cheeseburger, which ends up being a double cheeseburger with all the fixings. It's a very good size! They even offer up special items like sautéed onions and mushrooms as free optional toppings. The bun was moist and flavorful with the meaty patties. I loved my burger and it was very satisfying. Counter Service was very attentive, helpful and friendly. We loved our visit to this premium burger shop. read more

The food is usually on point since you can customize the food to your liking. The service is a bit on the slower side so it's better to order ahead. If you buy fries ahead tell them to make it before you get there, as the fry takes a moment to make. I will say this, they do hold the bar for one of the best shakes I have ever had: Peanut Butter Banana for the win! They serve dogs, burgers, sandwiches, fries, milkshakes, & have complimentary peanuts. Pretty expensive considering it is a fast food joint. Little Cheeseburger: Their burgers can be pretty beasty depending what complimentary items you put in it. We did not add much & already our buns were soggy & breaking apart. BLT's are on of my favorite sandwiches, so I just had to have one when on saw it on Five Guy's menu. I ordered it with no sauce and grabbed a side of their unlimited peanuts. The BLT came served on one of their sesame hamburger buns which I like, because they are usually soft and moist, as this one was. They put plenty of crunchy bacon into the sandwich, but for some reason they broke up the bacon strips into pieces, which tended to fall out of the sandwich as I ate it. In hindsight, I would of definitely preferred to have the whole strips in the BLT, as traditionally done. On a good note, they do put plenty of bacon into the BLT! The lettuce and tomatoes were all crisp and fresh. I added pickles and fresh cut onions to the mix, which fitted quite nicely. The peanuts were good and ate about a handful. We visited this poorly managed establishment on Saturday, 6/13/2020 around noon. There needs to be a re-evaluation if their process, and the Caucasian female supervisor/black hat (who is of more voluptuous stature). Let me except explain. We ordered 2 burgers, 2 fries, and two sodas. The burgers were supposed to be with mustard. The cashier didn't read the order back. I should've made her, and maybe I wouldn't be writing this review. On our receipt, the only thing wrong was 1 soda, which I hadn't noticed. As my order # kept being passed (5 times to be exact, at the end), I started to get irritated. It took around 20 minutes for them to make 2 bacon cheese burgers and 2 fries. While I was waiting, the black hat supervisor was training an employee. However, as numbers higher than mine were being called, I noticed two burgers that the trainee had started to reach for mustard, to which the supervisor questioned and said 'mustard' was a mistake. In the response to the trainee's question of should we ask, the black hat supervisor stated how no one orders mustard, they are always mayonnaise. Further commenting, I'll explain later. I actually thought that maybe it was someone else's, even tho I knew better from the icy chill and terrified looks of the crew. When my order was finally called (by a male worker), it was with only one soda. When I questioned, stating it was supposed to be two. The female standing by the area if the completed orders said it was only one, and told the make employee to walk away and not engage. So he scurried away and heir his back to me. I made a comment that it was supposed to be a double order, and the cashier needs to listen better. I then perked in the bag, and asked for ketchup, only to be told they had none - even tho I had seen them being given out. When I got to our hot, dirty outdoor table, my husband asked where was the other drink, and other fries? I asked him to repeat. When he did, I then proceeded to up my burger that gas so much mayonnaise on it... and it was cold. I became so angry, because prior to my order, I had not been rude, had waited patiently (inside and near the pick up area), but was treated extremely rude when I got my order. I didn't even complain when I was asked if I was waiting on an order. When I said my number, there was an 'oh, here it is.' Yes. I threw it back at them, said it was supposed to be mustard and to throw it it the trash. The back hat said, great that she would. I sent my husband back to get our money. When my husband asked for a refund, as the order was wrong, and missing an order of fries. The black hat supervisor gave him attitude, saying she didn't understand why putting mayonnaise on it was a big deal, that it wasn't. She also tried to say we didn't ask for mustard, for two fries, until she saw the receipt. Then she gave more attitude, saying she wouldn't refund the soda as we took it. My husband pointed to it on their counter - unopened. Yes. We received a refund - still pending. However, this has been one of the worst establishments I've ever visited. I've been a Five Guys patron for decades (and visited from East Coast to West Coast). This supervisor needs re-training, because she is lazy and has poor customer service and poor management skills. She should not be training anyone any. The crew, again, looked terrified. There was no friendly vibes. It was quiet and uncomfortable. A complete opposite of other comp establishments. And, there were others complaining. AND YES, putting mayonnaise on a burger that's supposed to have mustard is BIG deal when you DESPISE MAYONNAISE! You can't scrape that taste off, and it would have to be remade. She definitely wouldn't have, because she wouldn't even admit it was her fault. I know, she knows, and so does the crew.
