I am extremely disappointed and concerned about my experience with Panda Express. I ordered a kids meal for my daughter and discovered a sharp metal object embedded in one of the pieces of food. As a parent, this is incredibly frightening because my child could have easily bitten into or swallowed it. I immediately contacted the restaurant to report what happened because my biggest concern was my daughter's safety and making sure this does not happen to another child. Unfortunately, the response I received was essentially, "We don't use staples." That response completely disregarded the actual concern. Whether it was a staple, a piece of packaging, or some other metal object is beside the point -- there was a metal object in food that was served to my child. Instead of taking the concern seriously and investigating how it could have gotten there, I felt dismissed. I am sharing this review because parents need to be aware and check their children's food carefully before allowing them to eat it. Something like this could cause a serious injury, especially to a young child. I hope Panda Express takes this seriously, investigates what happened, and addresses the food-safety issue rather than simply dismissing it because they don't believe they use staples. I am reporting this incident to the San Diego County food safety authorities and will be taking this as far as I can to make sure this is properly investigated. Panda, I've loved you for so long but this location is just plummeting. I scheduled food to be ready at a future time, a specific time. I show up at said time and still waited 30 min. If the food is supposed to be ready at 5:30 and it's not a request to make it asap but actually a preplanned time hours in advance, why am I waiting 30 min in store for a preorder to go? And then I get home and the containers aren't even full. We are talking the equivalent of more than a small à la cart entree is missing from my large food container for more than one dish. My past 3 visits to this Panda Express has not only been disappointing in flavor but also they cannot get my app order right. This location is convenient to my work and ordering in the app is handy. However 3 visits ago, they packed my order without my entree. I got all the way home, opened my box and only had chow mein. I called and was told they would record it in "the book" and the next time I came in to just tell them that Mildred told me I would get my entree. So, the next time, I walked in and ordered in the restaurant. When it was time to pay, I told them that I was in "the book" and dropped Mildred's name. Well, they couldn't find the book. So, I stood there while the guy working there kept telling the manager that he couldn't find the book. She didn't believe me. Did Mildred not work there anymore? The place was packed and the lady cooking finally told him to give me my plate. Seriously. Now, fast forward to last night. I ordered on the app again. I ordered my plate with honey sesame chicken, string bean chicken and all fried rice. When I got home, this plate had all chow mein. What? I like the sauce dripping through to my rice, and no other sauce is needed. I noticed on my receipt that the cashier rang me up with the black pepper steak charge. Whoops, I didn't notice until now. I usually enjoy coming to Panda Express and rarely leave complaints. The staff was friendly, but I witnessed something concerning involving food handling. A customer had been waiting quite a while for another entree that was being made, but had ordered orange chicken that had been left out for a bit, and when it was ready, I saw the store manager pour the remaining cold orange chicken from the box into the newly cooked batch. Several other customers noticed it as well and shared the same concern. I'm not in the food industry, but this didn't seem like an appropriate food handling practice. The restaurant was very busy, which I completely understand can be stressful for staff. However, I witnessed a very unprofessional interaction between employees. One worker, I believe named Laretha, was speaking down to another coworker named Meredith or Mildred in front of a long line of customers. It was uncomfortable, and even another customer commented on how inappropriate it was and expressed sympathy for Meredith/ Mildred . During my order, I also noticed what felt like consistent attitude toward customers. I understand that repeated questions during a rush can be frustrating, but the tone used felt rude rather than simply stressed. I also felt very rushed while ordering, with little time to properly choose my food. In addition, I saw a food handling issue where chow mein was poured from a someone's plate into the serving bowl rather than discarding which completely turned my stomach. To make matters worse, when I got home, I realized my order was completely incorrect and they switched my plate with someone else I understand busy shifts can be overwhelming, but professionalism, respect between coworkers, and accurate customer service should still be maintained. read more

We came on a Thurs, preordering online before coming, and proceeded inside towards the checkout area where they had a sign for online pickup. We were ignored for 5 minutes or so and then we went to ask about our order since the time to pickup had passed. This led to 15 minutes of people passing off the message to one another but no one actually doing anything. We had three separate people ask us what our name was for the order. The manager casually walked by and said someone was working on it, even though no one seemed to be doing that. While we were waiting, people were piling up behind us waiting for their online order while people in the store ordering seemed to zip by. Even the orange chicken bowl we ordered was just ok for me. It's rare that I'm in the mood for Chinese food, but when I am this Panda Express has never disappointed. I've been goin for years now, and every dish I've ever tried here has "popped" with flavor. I also love getting a fortune cookie, a fun tradition which has you wondering what fortune could be inside waiting for you - and I keep some of my favorite fortunes always with me in my wallet. And when it comes to Chinese food, it feels weird to eat it with anything but chopsticks, and the staff at this location are happy to give you some. I take a star off the review because they have a TV inside, which is a completely unnecessary distraction - the interior design is nice enough, there's plenty of people to watch, and in any case people are on their devices when they want something moving around on a screen. read more

I needed to grab a bite to eat quickly, and Panda Express was the closest option. I gotta say it exceeded my expectations! I watched the chef using the wok and he seemed pretty decent at it! The teriyaki chicken was quite good - basically a sweet soy chicken like I would make at home - and for fast food, a strong "B". I can be totally picky and say they need better quality rice but can't really complain because it's better than some actual sit-down restaurants I've been to. In hindsight, I should have asked for some sauce - sweet soy on rice is awesome. Empty calories & sodium on carbs, you know that's just gonna taste good Decently spacious, and staff that does a good job cleaning when they have a chance (because sticky, dirty tables is a huge pet peeve). My rice bowl was $8.70. Probably should have went for the "plate" to get some veggies but that would be too much. If in a pinch to get something to eat, I think I would be back! PS: I learned that 1 side on the "bowl" option, you do 1/2 portion veggies & 1/2 portion rice or noodles. That's great! --------------- Food Grading Scale: A+: Life changing. Excellent experience! I'm in no way saying that Panda Express is authentic Chinese food or the best Chinese food in town. It's fast, decent and reasonably priced Chinese fast food. I wanted to mention that the Carmel Mountain location does a better job than other north county inland locations that I've been to. I ordered food from there because a friend of mine was having a fundraiser. I had to order it online. When I arrived, the food was ready, the order was correct and the cashier was very friendly. All food was hot and fresh! I'm also thrilled that this location serves the eggplant and tofu dish. Not all of the locations do. It was a very satisfying meal.....well done Panda! read more

Came in on a Monday night for some dinner. I did not get her name but she was very dismissive and rude to other employees. I believe his name was Nathan, not sure if he was new or not but she was very passive aggressive with her explanations to him. I ordered my sides and ordered some broccoli beef. Right as Nathan puts the scoop in my plate, she says "oh no no no we're out of broccoli beef ".... As I am staring at it on my plate. She makes Nathan scoop it back out of my plate and does not even apologies. I moved on and got 2 sides of teriyaki chicken instead. She gives me maybe a scoop and a quarter and closes it very fast to where I could not see the horrible portion she had given me until I got home. She cashed me out and didn't ask if I wanted any sauces or bother to apologies for taking my food off my plate and just handed me my receipt with no words. Food quality was amazing as always. I am so disappointed with the panda express for the second time. I ordered the family size meal because I had guests coming over and I was really excited as when my guest saw the box that they packed it in. They were like "oh this is so cute!" but when we opened up the food and started eating it, the chow mein had no salt. The eggplant and tofu had no salt. The fried rice had no salt all of the food was pretty much bland and we were so embarrassed in front of our guests. One of my guests just took two bites of the chow mein and she did not even eat anything after that. I felt so bad I kept on asking her if I could make her something else and she insisted not to because she said that she does not have an appetite anymore after eating that chowmein. My girl wanted to complete her non-fasting day with some vitamin "r" (rice) from Panda Express. Ordering is really easy online from the Panda Express website and they even give you an estimate when your order will be ready. We swung by another place before we made it down here, which was a bad call on my part because there was a bit of a line picking up orders ahead of me when I arrived. I'm told that unlike other locations, this Panda Express does not have a pick up table area set aside for customers to quickly pick up their prepaid orders. Customers do have a separate line for pickup and must wait for staff to either call their name or provide their name to receive their order. Not very efficient, but perhaps they have had issues with customers taking orders that are not theirs. In any case, I waited longer than expected to receive my already bagged order. The food was what you would expect from Panda Express. Nothing spectacular. Nothing terrible. Guilty pleasure satisfied.
