    Pig ears

Founders local spot in San Diego for some Asian food. I was pretty impressed overall it was steadily busy. Overall, the food was OK. The beef noodle was flavorful. However, the portion size is very small. I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken mushroom filling because I felt really mushy. The pig ears had a good flavor. The price was also fair. If you're looking for authentic Asian food, I do recommend checking the spot out.

Outside. Only seven tables inside this little restaurant.

Seven tables are all there are inside this very, very small restaurant. They seem to do steady takeout business so if that is an option, you might try it. The green onion pancakes were freshly-made and wafer thin. I liked them just fine but usually prefer a little thicker pancake. In my opinion, the huge bowl of beef noodle soup was the star of the show, by far. The noodles tasted fresh and the broth was rich and delicious. This soup would be perfect on a cold night. Of course, we tried the dumplings. They were fine but, personally, I prefer more soup in my dumpling. Meet Dumpling? I would say, Meet Beef Noodle Soup, all day, every day.

While visiting the beautiful Shelter Island, we decided to walk to the restaurant for lunch since it was located just a couple of blocks from the marina's entrance. Inside, with its casual Chinese eatery decor, was clean and quietly cozy with seating for 20 guests max. It is a family-run business with the husband in charge of front-of-house operations and the rest in the kitchen. For this visit, we ordered the following dishes (25-minute wait because they just opened and needed time to set up the kitchen): Thousand Layer Pancake: The fried pancakes were slightly oily and nicely seasoned. The outer layers were crispy and pleasantly flaky. Tofu Strip Salad: The wide tofu strips were fresh with firm texture. The seasoning was flavorful, slightly tangy, and tongue numbing spicy from the pepper chili. Pork Ear Salad: It had the same savory and spicy seasoning as the tofu strip dish, the sliced pig ears were fresh and nicely crunchy. Beef Noodle Soup: The broth was flavorful and spicy. The thin noodles were perfectly cooked with firm texture. The beef pieces were tender, and the bok choy complemented well with the dish. We also ordered some of their bite size boiled homemade dumplings. They all arrived steaming hot, and were perfectly cooked with the outer wraps intact. The napa cabbage with pork dumplings, with finely chopped cabbage and nicely seasoned pork fillings, were my favorite. The green chive with shrimp and pork dumplings, with firmer texture, were also very good and highly recommended. Overall, a very nice dining experience in an unexpected location.

We ordered a healthy heaping of food and the owner was shocked that we finished it all; It WAS pure comfort! See here for the line-up of : -Beef Noodle Soup ($14.99): Hearty soup with deep, beefy flavors and good kick of spice. Not too oily either. -Beijing Zha-Jiang Mian ($13.99): I was not keen on mixing this up, but the owner insisted. It would have been a nice gesture, but it made the dish SO salty. I prefer the knife-cut noodles without a coating of sauce. -Green Chive w/ Shrimp & Pork Dumplings ($13.99) & Napa Cabbage w/ Pork Dumplings ($12.99): You do get a a lot of little dumplings per order as they are packed full with ingredients. These are boiled and look just like the ones I get from a frozen package at 99 Ranch, but these are clearly hand-made and fresher with springy skins that don't fall apart. The place is super small and they can accommodate big groups though it's not fair to other diners, so maybe keep the party size small on a Friday or Saturday. The small size of the restaurant does enable the wife and husband duo to take care of their customers very well though. You will feel the love!

    Beef Noodle Soup -- tender!

Hands down, a San Diego favorite. I will gladly wait in line an hour to dine here. Meet Dumpling is a standout spot for anyone craving high-quality, handmade dumplings in San Diego. And the popularity shows. It is common to see people showing up at least 30 minutes before opening to get in line to enjoy this tiny spot. Everything here feels incredibly fresh, and the menu is packed with a wide variety of fillings, such as classic pork, Napa cabbage, shrimp and beef. Every dumpling -- and they sell them frozen to go, by the way -- is tender, generously filled and well-seasoned. The consistency across the menu is impressive. I highly recommend the green chive with shrimp and pork and the scallop with shrimp and pork. And they are generous -- 14 dumplings per order! Other must orders include the green onion pancake, rougamo (which is a kind of Chinese burger that is a popular street food item), the cucumber & wood ear mushroom salad and the shredded potato salad. Both the wood ear and the potato salads comes seasoned with Sichuan peppercorns, so you get that lovely numbing feeling with each bite. I also highly recommend the beef noodle soup -- hearty and delicious with soft, tender meat. I suppose what I am trying to say is that everything on the menu is great! Another reason this is on my favorites list is that this is family owned (Howard Gao, Alice Wang and a 10-year-old or so child who is absolutely darling) and you have multiple generations managing the restaurant. The owner will even make recommendations and offer to mix dipping sauces for you. And they remember you as a return customer, which is so lovely.

It was definitely giving mom and pop shop, the dumplings were very fairly priced and I loved all the items we got. The cucumber salad was super delicious and definitely the bang for your buck! I really enjoyed the ghibli music playing in the background and we got our food relatively fast.

Quite the hole in the wall shop with some of the best Chinese dumplings in San Diego! Any time I'm in the Point Loma I make it a point to pickup a couple bags of their green chive shrimp/pork dumplings to keep in the freezer. Staff here is also super sweet and accommodating and always offer to pack the dumpling with some ice for my drive home. I also highly recommend their Rouganmo (Chinese burger looking thing) it's just so crispy in the outside with great flavor on the inside and never disappoints.

This restaurant is located in a quaint plaza with parking available. Inside, it's small and clean which brings a homey feeling. We ordered a scallion pancake, pork and shrimp dumplings with chives, and a beef noodle soup (not pictured here). The pancake was the best thing I had, it was super crispy with a light green onion flavor. It was, however, a bit too oily. The noodle was well cooked and beef was tender but I wish they gave us more beef. The dumpling was really good, and I appreciate that it was handmade. Our waiter provided great service. He was very attentive despite a busy lunch rush on the weekend. I would definitely recommend this place if you are nearby and craving authentic Chinese food.

Would definitely go back! Nice family owned restaurant, great quality food, it was small and intimate, great service. 5/5 dumplings - the ingredients tasted fresh, I would prefer the dough to be less thicker 5/5 Onion Pancake 4/5 Beef stew noodles - wish there was more tender beef and more broth

decided to give Meet Dumpling a try since my kids love dumplings. We placed an online order for pickup and brought everything down to the dock to enjoy the view while we ate. First impression: the space is definitely small, but it was packed with people from all walks of life a good sign that this place has solid food and a loyal following. Just a heads-up: they close between 2:30pm and 4:30pm, so plan accordingly. You can definitely taste the differenc about these dumplings, def handmade with love, full of flavor, and just the right texture. We also got the beef noodle soup, which totally hit the spot. Comforting, savory, and hearty. Even though we didn't dine in this time, the online ordering process was super easy, and the food was ready when we arrived. I'm already planning to come back for a proper sit-down meal. If you love dumplings, this place is worth the stop whether you're dining in or taking it to go!

The dumplings here are a must-try! The wait time may seem lengthy, but trust me, it's worth it. Upon arrival, the waiter will take your phone number and call you when a table is ready. Don't expect an estimated wait time, so come prepared to wait outside. Once seated, you'll see a sign indicating that food can take around 45 minutes to arrive during busy periods and 15 minutes when it's not as busy. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated and there was two parties of two ahead of us and , waited about 20 minutes for our food. Flavor is on point . Ordered the shrimp, pork , green onions dumplings and wanton soup and devoured both dishes. We can't wait to return & taste the beef noodle soup :) ... This is hands down my fav dumplings place aside from DTF . Updated Review: I went back to the restaurant to try their beef noodle soup and Beijing Zha Jiang noodle, and I was impressed! While both dishes were tasty, the Beijing Zha noodles stood out as my favorite. One thing to note is that the meat topping is on the saltier side, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment. Just remember to mix everything together for the best experience! - must try !!! Potato pancake - not a fan of it as it was too oily for my liking. Sweet corn dumplings: simple dumplings taste... not salty just right . pork, shrimp and chives is still my favorite . This second time I got there at 11AM and was sat immediately and food came within 15 minutes. Will be back to try all the other dumplings:)

Beef noodle soup - excellent flavor overall, including a strong broth and a nice, soft texture to the noodles. Out of the countless Chinese restaurants I've visited for beef noodle soup, this makes its way into the top three. 5/5 Lamb skewers - wayyyyy too dry. This is certainly not their specialty, and asking for extra cumin to sprinkle on the lamb did not redeem the firmness. I struggled to slide the meat off the skewer and ended up just eating it while still on the stick. 1.5/5 Fish fillet - so good. Easy to eat texture-wise. Caution -- a bit saltier than it looks. The bell peppers in particular were seasoned spectacularly. 4.5/5 Dry fried green beans - a delicious option for vegetables to add to the table. Most people will enjoy this one in my opinion. A bit more crunch than I expected, which is not a bad thing. 4/5 Double cooked pork - I've never seen it cooked this way, and am not a fan. I'm used to a more oily version of this dish. It contained a bunch of dried and crunchy... yams? Potatoes? Overall, the dish was mainly crunch with no flavor, and contained a relatively small amount of pork. 1/5

Room for about 50 people. Vibes: Welcome to North Park, a lot of eateries and bars to hop around. It's a pretty hip place with constant traffic. The spot itself is Retro Chinese-American aesthetic with a modern twist. Think red lighting, plants, and a playlist that keeps the energy up. It's one of those spots that feels trendy but still approachable--good for dates or catching up with friends. FOOD / DRINKS Mayo Walnut Shrimp (Recommend) This is one of their standout dishes--and for good reason. Crispy shrimp coated in that creamy, slightly sweet sauce with candied walnuts. It hits that crunchy + rich + sweet combo really well and is easily one of the safer bets on the menu. Green Beans (Recommend) Simple but solid. Good balance to the heavier shrimp--fresh, slightly savory/umami making it a nice side to round things out. Ginger Lemonade (Recommend) A refreshing sip with a nice bite of ginger. SERVICE Friendly and efficient, especially considering how busy it gets. Food comes out fairly quick once you're seated. TL;DR OVERALL 4 stars. Steady prices, good food, and good choices. Fun spot with strong vibes and solid Chinese-American comfort food. It leans more elevated takeout-style than traditional, but that's kind of the appeal. I've been to pretty good Chinese spots but this is a nice experience if you're looking for nice aesthetics and good food. In the soup, there were bits of minced beef, chopped green onion, and stirred egg whites. The simplistic soup was warm, velvety, and pleasantly flavored. 3 Item BBQ Combo (House Special Chicken, Roasted Duck, and Pork Belly): The house special chicken was nicely steamed, lightly seasoned, and with beautiful gelatinous skin. TL;DR It's really good. I was born and raised in LA, so I've had a lot of Chinese food growing up, and I wasn't expecting to be this surprised--but I really was. I ordered the black bean eggplant and the salt and pepper chicken wings. The wings are what they're known for, but I have to start with the eggplant because it completely caught me off guard. It wasn't mushy at all--crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside, and coated in sauce without losing its texture. Every bite had depth and balance, not just saltiness. I actually meant to start with the wings, but the eggplant was so good I ended up eating half of it before even getting to them. By that point I was already getting full, but I still made sure to finish the wings--and I'm honestly excited to take the rest of the eggplant home as leftovers. By the time I got to the wings, I understood why they're popular--crispy, flavorful, and super satisfying--but what stood out to me was how both dishes complemented each other. One rich and layered, the other crisp and bright. I never got tired of eating, which honestly says a lot. I even told the staff how much I enjoyed the food and they thought I was joking, but I meant every word in saying I thought it was comparable, if not better then the food I've had in Chinatown in LA. Really glad I came here and the next time I have a chance to come back down to SD I definitely will come back here and that's not negotiable for me

To add insult to injury it was BURNED so badly that all you could smell was burnt dough and taste burned dough. Hardly any sauce on it as well. The Shrimp Fried Rice should have just been plain white rice for how bland it was. The Vegetable Chow Mein literally was just a container of salt. Slim noodles and salt, disgusting! We spent so much money and all of this is going right into the garbage. Stay away from this hole! It should be shut down for trying to poison people. Value, value, value! My husband sent me a tik tok of a bunch of influncers showing this place…read more This is true, 20$ for menu A and 25$ for menu B. There are prices to the right of the item, but that doesn't matter. All of menu A is 20$ and all of menu B is 25$. You choose one entree and the buffet is all yours including drinks. This is already worth it. They have soda cans! For my entree I got walnut shrimp. This item in most restaurants is already typically 22$. My husband chose the pork. Im not sure what it was but it was way too sweet. I didn't like that. My shrimp, however, was pretty good. On a side note, you cannot take these entrees to go, they're part of the buffet. This buffet is totally worth it bc of the crispy pork belly, bbq pork, and shumai. Honestly, let's be real, all of these items would be extremely expensive elsewhere. Why they get 4 stars and not 5. The food is not warm or hot. Its cold and when food is cold, its pretty gross. Unfortunately our food was cold. We stayed there long enough for them to replenish some things. The food tasted great when it was hot. Shu mai is pretty good. Fried rice was good and the soups are not bad. What was great and awesome: all the thrifty ice cream, cheesecake and ayce soda cans. This to me makes it a 5 star but the cold food really bothered me. Tbh I hated the service also. There was no service and I had to walk up to them to ask for soy sauce, salt and pepper. The inside was decent sized. The buffet is very small, but the items are worth it. Id definitely come again during peak hours bc the food is excellent when its hot.

overall 3.6/5 : lots of cons but the entrees were pretty fire and definitely fresh. but long ass…read morewait bc theres literally 2 cooks in the kitchen LMFAOOOO waiters are running around so you need to flag em down if you wanna order. entrees will all come out at different times but at least you know theyll be fresh asf. also just a note - you cant take the entrees home since youre technically paying for the buffet. dont expect good service here LOL. if you decide to order to go, be prepared to wait over an hour for your food if its busy inside entrees in order of how good it was: - sweet and sour fish suuper good and soft and fresh. - orange chicken also really fresh and crunchy. - prawns and scrambled egg - i didnt try the prawns but the egg was really good?!?! -french style beef tastes like every other french style at other places. beef was soft the ayce part is fine: - lots of food little picky kids can eat. seems like they have a variety of diff things they rotate but there were frozen tater tots, mozz sticks, fish sticks. sesame balls, potstickers - fried rice and noodles (only one serving spoon for both??) - they have crispy pork belly and barbecue pork and they also put baos out with hoisin sauce - pork belly is good with the bao and sauce. theyre pretty good about refilling when it runs out too - soda cans you can grab but theres a separate fridge by the cashier that is clearly labeled not for buffet so just make sure youre grabbing from the buffet area - soups - egg flower soup lowkey tasted like they used unfiltered water?? cant describe it. it wasnt horrible but there was a weird taste in there. my mom said the hot n sour is better but idk i didnt try it - lowkey surprised that their rice was good. not mushy, not dry. and i was scooping from the bottom of the giant pot too so thats a plus - they just got a lil bucket of ice sitting out uncovered for people grabbing drinks LOL. its literally self serve everything here. - ice cream - theres like 8 flavors so thats nice

Ordering is done via an ipad at the table but they're available for any menu questions and quick with water refills. Food is SO GOOD. You can really tell the dumpling wrappers (for dumplings, xiao long bao, and wontons) are handmade. They're more springy and al dente and beautifully wrapped. We ordered a ton of food and everything was really tasty I didn't react fast enough with photos. Xiao long bao are a MUST - and you gotta enjoy it with the vinegar and ginger! The cucumber salad is WAY better than ding tai fung's in both taste, texture, and portion! Chili oil wontons were big and deliciously fragrant, not spicy. Pan fried pork buns were crispy on the bottom with a soft and pillowy bread and juicy meat filling. We also got the combination fried rice which was beautifully golden eggy and full of meat & shrimp. The green beans were flavorful and not overly oily. Fried chicken wings were one of my favorites! Last but not least we also ordered the chonqing spicy chicken - not too spicy, full of numbing peppercorn goodness, fried lightly and very criispy. The restaurant is well decorated and clean, very spacious and good for groups. There's a cute gazebo table right at the front too. Plenty of parking in the plaza lot. . A great place for authentic Chinese food. Will definitely be returning!
