Ordered thru DoorDash for the first time with no big expectations. We were looking for good assassin chicken and looking at reviews on Yelp had seen this may be a good option. The food arrived super hot and fresh. The flavor on the chicken was just right. I was pleasantly surprised at the shrimp fried rice flavor. Sometimes the flavor can come across bars, however this rice had the perfect fried taste as well as shrimp flavor. I do wish there were more shrimp and rice. Very tasty and authentic Chinese food! I had the beef and green beans and the beef were tender, green beans were cooked perfectly and the right flavor. This is the new Golden House for my family. We prefer their salt & pepper wings, their honey walnut shrimp and lo mein over all the spots in Otay. The dining are is small so we generally use them for takeout only. The only dishesI've tried and didn't love here were the egg foo yung (meat is added to sauce not the egg part), war wonton soup was not especially flavorful and moo goo gai pan would have been a 10 out of 10 if not for the canned mushrooms. Staff said they could do moo shu pork, even though it wasn't on the menu. But they didn't have the pancakes, only steamed buns. I said ok, and ordered it to go. The food was pretty tasteless, and the meat was tough, with a fair number of inedible pieces. It was chunks, whereas I think it's normally thinly slices or shredded. The buns just added to the "meh". Mongolian beef was extra salty. Sweet and sour chicken was dryer than the Sahara. Hot and sour was decent. Low mein was one step above your standard mall version. I just wasn't impressed. We have never been here before and decided to give it a try. My wife has been to several Asian countries, including China, so she's a little picky when it comes to trying Chinese cuisine. The place is small, and could fill up quick during the rush, we came 10 minutes before the lunch special ends and it was wide open seating. I tried the beef and broccoli and it was really tasty. My wife also said her dish, which she would always get during her time in China, tasted exactly like being in China. That's the first I have heard her say this while eating at a Chinese place so far. For me, my dish came with egg drop soup (tasty), steamed rice (perfectly sticky and fluffy, not hard), and the beef/broccoli which came with carrots and it was cooked perfectly. The beef wasn't chewy, it was tender and melted in your mouth, the way it is supposed to be. All in all, the food was delicious. We highly recommend giving this a try. read more

Everything lacked flavor--the rice and noodles were bland, and the egg rolls had an odd taste and were extremely dry inside. The orange chicken was decent but leaned more on the sweet side rather than spicy, and it lacked the crispiness I was hoping for. Given the strong reviews and the fact that we were in California, we had high hopes, but this meal fell short. On top of that, the prices felt excessive for the quality. Summary: Delicious, authentic chinese food I've been looking for good chinese food since I moved to San Diego from the Bay Area more than 15 years ago (circa 2008). I always assumed there was little to none besides Minh Ky (porridge & pan fried shrimp), Tim Ky (wonton egg noodle) & Diamond Palace (Dim Sum) until I went to Tasty Mandarin and ate some of the most delicious food ever. Their mongolian beef and egg drop soup was wonderful. I also plan to get their egg foo young as well as beef chow fun now that I know how good the food is. I wish I went here sooner but I wanted to try their lunch special first before cashing in on their non-special dishes. Service was quick. It's a typical asian restaurant so they prefer if you know what you want and don't ask too many questions (which I sort of did...and she wasn't really that helpful and just said "yea, very good").
