A simple menu made easy if you've never had Korean food outside KBBQ. It's savory and delicious with good portions, plenty of room in the dining room and a friendly staff. This is a must try for people looking to expand their knowledge of Korean dishes.

I absolutely LOVE the food here. It's always fresh and hot. The service was spot on and quick when we went on a Sunday for lunch. I appreciate how clean the restaurant is too.

Easy ordering via tablet on table. Came at perfect time 7pm Friday right before dinner rush. Chili black bean noodles were amazing!!! The jalapeños gave it the perfect kick and the udon noodles were soft and chewy. Rose tteokbokki was very creamy. No complaints. Great prices for the portions!

I learned about Mr. Paik through his shows and have always been curious to try one of his restaurants, so I was excited to finally visit Paik's Noodle in National City. Overall, the food was good and very enjoyable in a light, comforting way. The soup was on the lighter and more bland side, which I actually appreciated, it felt clean and not overly heavy or salty. The noodles were a standout for me. I really loved the chewy texture; they had great bite and definitely elevated the dishes. The black bean noodles were good overall. I've had better black bean sauce elsewhere flavor-wise, but the noodle texture here is better than most places I've tried, so that made a big difference for me. Everything tasted light and not greasy, which I really liked. One thing that really impressed me was the hot chili sauce, so good!!! I loved the strong garlic kick and depth of flavor. It added the perfect punch. The sweet and sour pork was also really good and something I would definitely order again. The ambiance is simple and casual, and the customer service was great, friendly, and attentive. Overall, a solid experience, especially if you appreciate lighter flavors and excellent noodle texture. I'd come back, especially for the noodles and sweet and sour pork.

They forgot our 8pcs dumplings which is why they gave us extras.. its a order then sit establishment so not really a waiter, but they do check up on you/drop off your order. They serve you pickled radish, dishes, cups, napkins& a carafe of water. Utensils, straws, sauces are already on the table. The 1st time they had asked if we got everything I said we haven't got our dumplings, then the girl said she's gonna check but she got side tracked& started talking to another girl that just clocked in& I guess forgot. I literally watched them talk without looking over at me once. &I was seated directly across from the counter. POV in pic. I had to flag down someone else to check& she went to go ask. Then the girl who originally asked was already clocking out, taking her HUGE order togo &walked passed asking "you didn't get your dumplings yet?" Cause no girl, you forgot to check remember? I get it, it's not that ype of establishment, but don't have me give y'all tip& y'all do that. Smh. The Jjamppong had a good spice to it. The Jajangmyeon was a bit too saucy for me it was a bit overwhelming. The dough was a bit tough on the dessert.. I thought it'd be fried instead of baked. But overall, eh. It's okay to try. Not forseeing this as a regular spot for me. &&the owner/business manager was dispersing large wads of tips openly on the counter.. Idk if that's safe practice or even sanitary. I mean I guess it was in a plastic bag, but imagine accidentally giving that out with a take out order! Yikes.

So glad they opened a Paik's Noodle close to home! I first heard about this spot from an IG blogger--he and his mom raved about the noodles. I never made it out to the Kearny Mesa location since it's a bit of a drive, so I was excited to see this new location just opened (only 5 days ago!). I ordered the spicy seafood bowl with mussels, squid, and pork--and wow, the broth was incredible. Rich, flavorful, with just the right amount of kick. The noodles reminded me of udon, but honestly, even better. My ex got the beef bowl and practically licked the bowl clean--he loved it. My boys had the veggie fried rice and actually ate the veggies, which says a lot! They're usually not fans, but the flavor won them over. Portions were generous and the price was really fair for the amount of food. We'll definitely be back--this place is a must-try! Also, shoutout to the gentleman who helped us--super friendly and welcoming. Hope this place is here to stay!

Came here with my wife on a Sunday night around 7pm. We've been to the location on Balboa, so decided to check this out. We ordered the jajangmyeon and sweet and sour pork to go and found out from the cashier that they'd been open for about a month now. There were a few groups inside and plenty of seating. The food quality is still the same as the one in Kearny Mesa, but the seating area isn't as nice, but they gotta work with what limited space they have. With that said, I'd say Paik's Noodle has the best jajangmyeon in SD. I'd come back, but I'd rather do it more for takeout than dining in.

Now this was amazing ! Came here with my buddies after work and we each got items that we could share. We started things off with the spicy shrimp, which was my favorite Must try. This spot is known for their noodles so we got the #10. Beef Jjamppong. That beef broth is so amazing so much flavor. Then we tried their wings. We got soy garlic, and sweet and spicy wings. Then we shared some sweet-and-sour chicken. Definitely coming back here to try more items. The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly.

Staff was friendly and place was clean. The service was fast. Good was good esp if you are hungry lol. I really liked their fried sweet and sour pork. Belly was satisfied!

Decided to update my review because I finally got to order (To Go) since my last trip here wasn't a good experience. Nonetheless, the food was so good! I really enjoyed the jajang rice. That was my fav out of the two that I ordered. The egg omelet, rice and jajang was delicious, it was wholesome like comfort food. I also got jjamppong w/noodles, I saved half of the noodles to mix in with the jajang sauce I saved. So I could taste how the jajang is w/noodles and it was great! I loved the smokiness of the soup and the little kick it provided. The seafood was generous and the soup paired well with rice too. I appreciate the separation in packaging, kept everything from getting too soggy and I got to eat it my way. I totally get the hype now, I def will be back for the food.

The third time I came back here, Still very satisfied with their food. The Jjampong noodle soup is so great! Just checking ked they have a new combo menu, definitely would like to try it next time! Glad they are still maintaining the quality of the brand :)

The jajangmyeon and sweet & sour chicken was delicious and I definitely recommend! The quality and flavor is similar to its Clairemont location. They also have condiments and spices on the side for you to freely grab. The workers were very welcoming and greeted us as soon as we walked in. We asked for extra radish for our jajangmyeon and they gave us 2 extra cups of it! The ambiance is very chill and casual. I would come again!

Once I saw that Paik's Noodle opened in National City, I had to go and check them out. I can confirm that the taste and quality of their food is just as exceptional as their Convoy location. Paik's is a Korean-Chinese restaurant and we ordered just that: -Jajangmyeon: noodles w black bean sauce -Jjamppong: spicy seafood soup -Sweet and sour pork -Dumplings: fried dumplings w pork -Crispy steamed bun Before I say more, I totally recommend everything that we tried! VERY good! If it's your first time here, try the Jajangmyeon with the sweet and sour pork. These two dishes (along w the radish they provide you) complement each other SO well! The neutral base of the black bean sauce paired with the tangy-ness of the sweet and sour pork just bursts with flavor. From ample free parking, outstanding service and yummmmy food, that is Paik's summed up in one sentence!

The deal is up to 12 wings per person which is great because after 6 wings - dipped heavily in ranch sauce - I'm full. Deal doesn't come with any sides like radish or rice and costs extra. Bulgolgi fries is overall crispy and tasty but has little Bulgolgi in it. Japchae was underwhelming. Parking sucks but it never takes me more than 2 minutes to find parking. We tried all flavors of the wings. All 3 of us had different favorites but I'd say all the flavors were pretty good and there wasn't a flavor I disliked. Their tteokboki was sooo good. I really enjoyed the flavor and so far my best I've tried. Other places are too sweet or has too much overpowering gochuchang. This place is by far my favorite for tteokboki. I really didn't like their takoyaki though. Too much flour/dough and they were not mindful making it since some pieces only had 1 piece of octopus while some piece had none and was just straight up flour. I'd come back for their wings and tteokboki though.

Came here with their revamped fine dining Korean Asian Fusion menu during Happy Hour and this place…read morewas absolutely amazing!!!!! First off, there is free parking available, just circle around the building until you see a garage entrance for retail parking. Two hours for free! Let me first explain the aesthetics of this place. Clean and modern with mid century feel accented with greenery throughout. Please note that they won't seat you until most of your party is present. We came here for Happy Hour which was from 4-6pm from Tuesday to Sunday! This is fantastic that HH includes the weekend!!!! To start, got a wellness shot which had a meld of juices and ginger. A great drink to ready your palate. For cocktails, I tried the Suika Spritz, which was refreshing! The Absolutely Pho-nomenal definitely tasted like cold Pho broth but spiked. It wasn't my favorite drink, but glad I tried it nonetheless. Of course we ordered the $1 oysters, and ordered all three - Baja, Pacific Northwest, & East Coast. It came with some Asian fusion sauces to dress our oysters. My fave was the Baja as these were the freshest! All three were smooth and non briny. On the HH menu we also tried - Bulgogi Birria Vampiro - Tender meat with bulgogi seasoned beef on top of a tostada. Really liked the meld of the two cultures in this dish. Duck Liver Mousse - Comes with rustic bread & crème fraiche. Very duck forward. I liked this because it was rich with flavor. Stone Crab Taco - Loved the nod to Loganisa in this taco! This was by far, my favorite protein dish on the HH menu!!!! Regular Menu - Mango Nasturium Kimchi Salad - I absolutely loved this vibrant and fresh dish!!!! I had to go back for second and thirds! Shishito Peppers with Bonito Flakes - This was definitely a fun and flavorful dish with lots of umami. Dessert - Hotteok and Vanilla Ice Cream - this was my favorite dessert! The pancakes were flaky and delicious!! Bonbunja Tiramisu - Beware! This has a strong coffee taste. It reminded of the strength and flavor profile of a Vietnamese coffee. I can't believe it's not cheesecake - Definitely a mix of a brûlée but with a cheesecake flavor. Confusing but works lol. We met the executive chef, Kyler, who explained and served some of dishes we ordered. The entire staff was so accommodating and even reminded us if we needed our parking validated! Our water never ran empty and our dishes were promptly taken away as we finished. Definitely a place to visit during HH since they offer amazing food and cocktail choices.

My wife and I went here for dinner expecting to eat great food based on all the high reviews and…read morethe upscale price, but we were instead left with disappointment and a big fat check with an unexpected automatic 20% gratuity fee for 2 people. Food: We got several appetizers and 3 entrees. We had the Mango Kimchi Salad, Bulgogi Birria Vampiro, Silkworm Pupa Tacos, Doenjang Risotto, Miso Lingcod, and Braised Short Rib. We got plenty of dishes to try, but unfortunately they were either simply mediocre or had an issue. The Kimchi Salad was too strong in spice and the mangos were unripe and hard. The Birria Vampiro was simply mediocre and sort of bland. Silkworm Pupa Tacos were again sort of bland. The Risotto was undercooked and crunchy instead of 'al dente'. Miso Lingcod had a very fishy taste and not much else. And the Braised Short Rib was too salty. Drinks: I got the Choi's cocktail and my wife got the Gangnam Style espresso martini. Both drinks were very well made and tasted great! Service: Unlike the food, the service was great! From the person who confirmed our reservation, to the staff at the front of the door, and to our server, they were all extremely friendly. We were celebrating an occasion, which we made known when booking and upon sitting down we got a handwritten card with a congratulations note. That was very unexpected and awesome! We also got a couple of complimentary cocktail shots from the bartender while we were there. Overall, I would say the staff and service was extremely good. Parking: The area of San Diego that Choi's is located is unfortunately very bad. Overfilled with homeless, drug addicts, and just plain shady looking people who roam the streets. I was overjoyed when I found out that they give you two hours of complimentary parking in a safe place! So to summarize: The staff that provide great service, the bartender with awesome drinks, and the free parking in a safe place simply do not make up for the main reason we were there: the food. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 was because of all these other factors besides the food. Before paying the bill and leaving, we did let the server know about the issues we found with the food in a very friendly and constructive way. She was thankful for the honesty and the feedback.
