This place has very good burger and fries. Didn't quite live up to the hype for me though, but still very good.

I don't get the big draw of Five Guys, it's not a bad burger but in my opinion it's the same as a homemade burger. While that is not a bad thing in itself, add in the cost and there lies my issue. My friend and I stopped in here for lunch and both got a burger shared an order of fries and 2 large sodas, it cost around $20. The whole time I was eating I kept thinking I could have made this at home and fed at least two other people. They fry the fries in peanut oil so if you have a peanut allergy beware. The fries are decent but try out the Cajun fries they have the right amount of kick to them without being over powering. They also have a ton of different toppings, I do like the build your own burger concept instead of ordering a type of burger then saying no this, add that. When ordering to go on the receipt each burger has its own number which corresponds to a sticker with a number that is on the burgers so you know who's burger is who's. The regular burger is actually a double burger, the junior burger is your normal size burger. Parking is not always easy in this area so be prepared to take a few laps around the parking garage. read more

Checked this place out for the first time with my family of 5 = 2 adults, 2 young kids and infant. Seating is really tight. Some tables were left unused because people couldn't squeeze into the space left when the next table was in use. You can also barely squeeze by someone who's serving themselves at the soda fountain. I'd recommend sitting at the tables outside instead. As for the burgers and fries, I was left underwhelmed. It's nice to have lots of different choices for toppings, but the burger was seriously lacking in flavor for me. My husband thought it was ok. The fries have some skin left on them and are generously portioned, but I thought they needed less time in the fryer (most were dark brown/almost burnt) and a few more shakes of salt. Overall it was fair - definitely not on my list of places to return to. Best part was feeding my family for $22 and the sweet employee who helped us. read more

I like Five Guys food but the service at this restaurant is garbage. Previously, I've experienced the cashier begrudgingly takes my order as if I should feel bad about giving him one more thing to do. The thing that really bothered me this time though is they closed early. I worked in the service industry for 6 years and I always worked my tail off until no one was left to serve, even after business hours, because it put money in my pocket and people left happy. Maybe the times have changed, but that doesn't mean I accept not taking orders after 9:40pm when you close at 10pm. As I see it, it's just not good integrity. Just change your business hours to 9:30pm and let me be upset about that but don't promise to serve your customers during a set of business hours and not live up to that expectation. I wanted Five Guys, saw that it was open, tried to call ahead but the phones were shut down, then drove all the way there just to find out people are tired of working a full shift. Seriously? We went there on opening day around 8:30pm and the line was short which was nice. We ordered three small cheeseburgers, one large fries, and three cokes. Total was was over $ 25.00 which to me is pricey. For comparison sake, we could order three double doubles, three fries, and three cokes at In-N-Out for around 18.00. So the main reason I am giving it three stars is because of price. And the double/double at In-N-Out is a better hamburger than the small cheeseburger at Five Guys, in my opinion. Also Five Guys looked like they had way too many people getting in each others way, but that could be just opening day. In-N-Out has about half the staff that Five Guys had yesterday. Also I didn't care for the faux cheerfulness from the employees, but that might have just been the excitement of opening day, but it made the dining experience very noisy. And we were surprised that Five Guys does not offer milkshakes - what kind of burger place is that? I will go here again to get the larger cheeseburger to compare to the double/double but that makes the price disparity even greater. The fries were ok but I like In-N-Out's better. As others have commented I didn't care for everything coming in a bag versus a tray. Onother thing In-N-Out does better is the packaging of the burger, It looks nicer on the tray. Once In-N-Out comes to Pleasant Hill I doubt we will be going back to Five Guys. I also think the Nations cheeseburger and fries is a better deal and just as tasty. For Five Guys money, I could afford to go to Johnny Rockets and get a more upscale experience, better burger. PS: I too was surprised the buns were not toasted to prevent the buns from getting soggy. read more

Yet again another overrated restaraunt. This place could never even come close to in-n-out. My hamburger was about 6 inches thick, which is unappetizing, unnecessary and very hard to eat. When i unwraped my hamburger there was ketchup everywhere and the burger was made very sloppily, and furthermore the bun was completely soggy. Very annoying. The fries were a undercooked and a bit soggy, and pretty flavorless. Definitely not impressed. read more

Ok everyone keeps going on and on about how wonderful this place is. I mean, it's not bad but I wasn't super impressed. The inside is urban with fry sacks stacked everywhere. Regular table and chair set ups that remind me of In N' Out. The burgers are huge I will give them that. I ordered the small hamburger because they have two choices...either smaller version or regular size hamburgers and cheeseburgers. You can choose from an array of 10 different add-ons for no extra charge which is great if you like all their choices but I didn't. I'm not a huge fan of onions, jalepenos, mustard, mayo, relish, mushrooms, etc so my burger ended up pretty plain with bbq sauce, lettuce, tomato,pickles, and green bell peppers. The burger was like $2.79 or something like that...the fries were expensive for a small fry bucket at another $2.79 or something similar to that price, and the drink was $1.99 for a small soda. All together for burger, fries, and drink came out to $8. Yikes! I might return again but it will not be regularly. That is expensive for a burger and fries in my opinion. read more

Good burgers. I like it enough that I would go back if I was hankering for a burger. It's decent fast food. Decent fast food??? Okay never mind, I like it enough to go back. My only problem with the place is that they use peanut oil for their french fries. My daughter and a lot of my friends' kids can't have anything with peanuts. And the burgers were good needed a little more seasoning but after not eating all day they hit the spot! I heard many good things about Five Guys burger, including that it was the East Coast equivalent to In-n-Out burger. I think that's because people on the east coast haven't had In-n-Out in a long time and they forgot just how amazing it is. Five Guys is definitely not nearly as good as In-n-Out. If you're craving a cheeseburger and don't want to drive out to In-n-Out, then this is probably going to suit your craving. Their burgers are decent and you can choose as many toppings or condiments as you would like at no charge. I thought that was good and their prices are reasonable as well. One reviewer wrote that their burgers are like burgers you would BBQ at home, and I can see that. It feels like you could have made it at home and you bought the buns at the grocery store. Homemade burgers are good! But there isn't anything really special about them. The fries were good, but not light- soggy with grease- tasty, but not light. They serve Cherry coke which is definitely always a plus! Not many places do. My husband picked up our order and said that the staff there was so friendly and accommodating- so customer service gets 5 stars! read more

This is definitely a 3-1/2 star. The burgers are 4 stars but the prices are just 3 stars. The restaurant does resemble a lot like another burger place from Cali that usually has 2 palms forming an "X". They have an assortment of toppings to select and you don't have to pay for the majority of them. It's freshly made as you ordered and stays very juicy. Be sure to order the cajun fries. It adds a little kick to the ordinary fresh cut fries. The Vacaville gives you about 2 orders of fries. I saw the guy fill the cup and then dumb another scoop full in the bag. They have roasted peanuts in the shell that are free for you to munch on while you wait for your oder. read more

Wow. Last week a friend had to fly to New Jersey for 24 hours. For his one meal, he went to a place called Five Guys. His advice, fly to the east coast for this burger! I heard this story while driving to the store in Pleasant Hill on Monday, and what do I drive by? Five Guys on Crescent/Monument! We ate there last night, and after the first bite I was sold. The regular burgers are all doubles, the smalls are singles. I had a cheeseburger, my wife had the small cheeseburger. We both agreed these were by far, the best burgers in the Bay area. The everything on the burger (works) was fresh and delicious. I like spicy, and added the jalapenos. Unlike most places, these were not the pickled "nachos" style, but fresh sliced! The crowd was large for a friday nite, the line was out the door, but it moved quickly, and once you order, you can sit and get a drink, eat some peanuts, while waiting for your burgers. On our way out we had chatted with the owner, Duran(sp?), a very nice guy who, like his staff was making sure everyone was enjoying their food and having a good time. I will be going back today for another burger, this place is well worth the drive from anywhere in the bay. Cheers! read more

The fries were good, and the burgers OK. I think that it's cool they offer all of the toppings for free, but these burgers don't touch In N Out or Nations in my opinion. I can get 2 In n Out burgers for the price of one small 5 guys cheeseburger. A Nations cheeseburger loaded with all of the usuals, grilled onions and pickles is 4.65 or so and it's huge! It's also a buck or so less than the large 5 Guys cheeseburger. 5 Guys are not bad by any means, but with the local competition they may be in for trouble. Five Guys has the best fast food ever to cross the human mouth. The prices are a little high, but the meat is juicy and the buns are soft and fluffy. While you're waiting, complimentary peanuts sit on the counters for you to snack on. The atmosphere is like a classic diner with a modern and fast twist. Even if it's a little bit of a drive away, definetely go here for your next burger! read more

My husband and I were at the pleasant hill location between 9-10 this past Friday night. The tables and floor were not clean whatsoever. Took my family there for lunch and both my boys LOVED it. "Best Fries I've ever had!" from my 9 year old. My 7 year old LOVES the fries and the free peanuts! One bite into the little cheese burger and my 9 year old said YUM!. The person who took our order was patient and very friendly. The food is good here. It's a bit over priced. The service leaves a lot to be desired. We work at a 24-hour facility, so we regularly do food runs with multiple orders that need to be paid for separately when we pick up the food. 5Guys has a special form that you fill out and fax to them. The first time it went great, easiest food run ever. Each order was bagged up and ready to go, I paid separately and was on my way. The 2nd time we went, even though I clearly wrote on the form that I needed to pay separately, the order was all rung up when I got there. The cashier didn't know how to void the order, and I waited about 5 minutes for the manager to help her, while my food got cold. He then gave me a lecture about specifying that I wanted to pay separately, which I showed him I had clearly stated on his form ~ he just wanted to argue- while my food got cold. Eventually I paid and was on my way. When I got the cold food back to work, there was an extra burger in the bag - it was the burger from the "sample order" on the fax form showing one how to fill out the form~ had I not paid separately, I would have had to pay for a burger I did not order. Again, this was their form, they can't read it? One good experience, one bad ~ the bad wins out however- I won't be going back. read more
