A friend of mine told me I should try the Crunchy Tacos on Taco Tuesday and said it was da bomb. It has been long while since I visited an El Pollo Local. Back when they first opened up, the chicken was juicy and flavorful, over the years the chicken was drier and less flavorful. I finally make a trip on a Tuesday to try the tacos which are 2 for $5 on Taco Tuesday. I ordered through the App and noticed there were three options. I ordered two crunchy shredded chicken tacos and two chicken avocado al carbon soft tacos. The crunchy tacos come with a double tortilla which is great so if one shell cracks and the other holds you don't lose all of the filling. The shells were fried crunchy and the filling was tasty. Even though I am a crunchy taco guy, I liked the avocado taco more, it came with a nice slice of fresh avocado and the overall blend of ingredients produced a nice flavor. I wasn't sure how many tacos to order so I asked the Cashier how big are the tacos and she said normal. What kind of answer is that, just not helpful at all so I ordered 4 to be on the safe side. The tacos are about 4" long so slightly wider than a street taco. I will be back to this location for Taco Tuesday. Even though the customer service was lacking a bit, I know what to order. I give the tacos 4 stars and decided to ignore including the lack of service which would make my rating lower. Come for the tacos. The person who gave me my order was much nicer and offered me salsa. It is a very clean establishment which I appreciated. The cashier helped us with suggestions. That was nice of him. We ordered and say down. We ordered half chicken, pinto beans, cilantro rice, mac-n-cheese, plantains, taco bowl, and churros. When our food came, it was cold. That was disappointing. However, the guy immediately replaced it with hot food when we brought it to his attention. Once the food came back, it was much better. I did not enjoy the pinto beans. Very unseasoned. The chicken was okay. It needed more seasoning and crispness to it.. The rice was good and the churros were delicious. The mac-n-cheese was not ready to me, but my enjoyed it. ***3.5 Stars*** For fast food, it ain't all that bad. In fact, it was actually pretty good! I'll admit that I do miss Wendy's, but I'm glad that they've gotten replaced with another fast food spot that I actually like. Came here the other day to check this place out. Admittedly, it has probably been over 15 years since I've eaten at El Pollo Loco. It was always my Dad's favorite but never my favorite. I guess I just never really took the time to actually visit a location out here. But now that there's one nearby, that will definitely be changing. The interior is bright and clean! Oh, how I love shiny new spaces! Part of the parking lot is closed off right now, but I'm sure that'll be fixed soon. I'd say that El Pollo Loco is kind of like a mix between Taco Bell and Chipotle. It's so ironic that there's a Taco Bell that's right across the street. But, El Pollo offers a bit more variety on their menu like their enchilada platters and their famous fire grilled chicken. I saw them grilling the chicken in the back, and it looked absolutely delicious! I'll have to get a chicken meal next time to try it out. This time around, I ordered a grande avocado chicken bowl which comes with chicken, avocado, sour cream, corn, cheese, cabbage, pico, rice, and beans. You can add chips or tortillas for $1.50 extra. I added some chips to dip in the bowl. For the price, it's a really good deal. The bowl was decently sized and came with a few fresh slices of avocado and all white grilled chicken meat. I thought it tasted pretty good, but the beans were really mushy and it made everything soggy when I mixed it all up. I also felt that they kind of skimped me on the sour cream, cheese, and avo. It felt like there was barely any of that in the bowl. But, they did give me a lot of chicken which was nice. Their salsa bar is fantastic! They've got about 6-8 different salsas and additives at the bar. Loved their avocado salsa, pico, and house red salsas! I also got a churro which was warm, fluffy, and tasty. Service at the counter and in general was great! It was pretty busy inside since it's still new, but I suspect that it'll die down after a while. All in all, I'm excited to welcome El Pollo to the block. I'll be working my way around their menu in the coming months. read more

TLDR: the ONLY store that will REFUSE to GIVE what you ORDERED online I've been to various El Pollo Loco locations, even one outside of the US. I generally received good service, but this store gave the worst service as described below. Before COVID, you can visit any location and there is a salsa bar where you can take various salsa (e.g. pico de gallo, avocado, etc.). Because of COVID, you have to ask the store for it. When you order online, you can specify how much Salsa you want and the respective store will give it to you. Not this store. You can try it yourself as follow: 1). Order online 2). Put Chicken order (meal, etc.) 3). Add the following: - 6 Pico De Gallo - 2 Avocado When you pick up the order, the store will ONLY give you 4 Pico De Gallo. They REFUSED to give you more, even though during the online ordering process, you can have more than 4. Furthermore, they will ONLY give you the Pico De Gallo - they will REFUSE to give you the avocado Salsa. As mentioned above, before COVID, you can take more than 4 Salsa from the bar. So why is this store REFUSE to HONOR my online order? When I told them the above, they will not budge. However, they WILL ASK FOR YOUR NAME, as if they will "mark" you as a "troubled customer". Who knows what they will do to my food for future order? I am sure I will receive some "canned" response from El Pollo Loco about calling them to "rectify" the issue. I don't need to call them, just fix the issue. The corporate store can do a "mysterious shopper" and try to order online and pick up the order as mentioned above. Let's see if the store will accommodate their order or REFUSE to give what they order. Stay away from this store. Look at other reviews and you will see a pattern. I used to love El Pollo Loco because it was something I often craved for in the East Bay whenever I visited. Now, I'm staying so close to one and I was ecstatic about it. There was no one else inside other than my boyfriend and I. We had to order there instead of online because the item I love wasn't on their online menu.
