Honestly, one taco can be filling on its own. I've also tried the shrimp tacos and enchiladas, and both are really good. My husband usually gets a burrito, and that's always amazing too. Definitely recommend checking this place out! Try to come early, especially on weekends, because it gets really packed. It's not a big of a place so gets busy, ambiance is very casual.

Now for the bad news: I hate to write this review because everyone was so immensely nice but the super burrito was genuinely a let down and honestly difficult to finish. Problems: the burrito is enormous and incredibly mushy. So mushy that I literally couldn't lift it up without it flopping around. There is just zero structural integrity because the tortilla wasn't toasted/seared. The lengua was almost too soft which is crazy to say but the whole thing felt like baby food in my mouth. There was also no texture. Other than the meat everything else just tasted like one homogeneous mush. That also compounded with the flavors because they were all one mush as well. I couldn't tell there was sour cream in the burrito and it didn't taste like there was any salsa either. All to say there was nothing to cut through the fatty oily taste of everything else in the burrito. The tortilla was soft and oddly wet too. Overall, I cannot recommend the burrito here. It's not worth $20. How to improve: add more rice/lettuce/beans/something hard for texture (maybe even cook the meat longer to make it not so soft), and add more sour cream or lime or salsa to cut through the fat. Finally and most importantly grill or sear the tortilla at the end to give it some structural integrity. I really hate to write this review but I was just so disappointed after such an excellent experience in the restaurant. I'll be coming back but I won't be ordering the burrito.

Feb 2 2025 3.5 stars…read more Lately our go to Mexican eats is Cinco De Mayo in Martinez. Christians-smh. It is Sunday and Cinco is closed. The server and service here at Isla was perfect. I pointed out to he waiter that he had a crumb on his chin and he wiped and chuckled like a nice champ. The music is pleasant but a bit louder than needed so I brought out the earplugs. The entire indoor setup is nice. Our food is arriving after what seems like a long wait meaning either the food is being served fresh, hot and tasty, or we are in for a mediocre experience. Our two plates arrived. Chilli relleno and Grilled chicken enchilada. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the smallish squair white plates. Reminds me of trying to look upscale. We own plates like these and that didn't work. Wife's enchilada plate was covered with three hot and very tasty chicken filled food bombs plus sides. The chili plate looked a little weak (too much plate showing) but that was the tastiest chilli relleno ever in 40 years of me enjoying these. Served hot with cheese filled up to the ying yang, an extra spiciness I have never had before that I loved and me wishing I had a spoon to scrape up the end of the sauce. Unfortunately the smallish rice and bean servings on both plates were luke warm and tasted so so. . I had similar hotter to those with tv dinners back in the day. The two plates and a coke at $43 has me scratching my chin on whether we will make that drive again. That is unless it is Sunday. Then possibly. .

My wife and I took a lil minute to figure out what we wanted prior to ordering and the cashier showed patience. We settled on burritos. I knocked two stars off because they messed up both of orders and that made me a little upset. They remade my burrito completely over, but they did not for my wife. They just gave her what they forgot on the side. She was not happy about it. She ate it anyway. We both agreed that the burritos were cold.. the meat, rice and beans. However, we were not going to complain again. I decided that I would add it to my review. I enjoyed the salsa and chips bar. All the fixings that you needed were found there and you could take a much as you wanted. Overall, we won't be returning back here. It was not that enjoyable.

Didn't see any $1 or $1.25 tacos on offer but they did have a 4 taco plate + 16oz soda for $7.50 so still a pretty good deal. Tacos were decent. (They did recently have to increase their prices to $1.25 per taco but I really can't complain.) They give chips and salsa if you order something + ask for it and they have fresh lime, radishes, and caramelized onions in the side bar where their chips/salsa used to be set out as a free-for-all. I can't speak to the other foods as much since I always default to tacos here, but I've had their horchata as well and it's very tasty! (The large is very generously sized too!) They do get pretty swamped on Tuesdays so there is often a wait, but they try to keep it a minimum. The indoor seating typically gets filled up pretty quick too on Tuesdays but there's lots of seating outside as well!

I noticed how enthused and attentive they were to other patrons in comparison to how they were with me and my daughter. I'll leave it at that.
