El Pastor, Grilled Shrimp, and Carne Asada Tacos
    Rachel W.

During yesterday's wind gusts, our home lost power. For 21 HOURS! It made for a long day and night. When the power came back on, we were jubilant! But then, oh yeah, we needed to replace the food in our refrigerator. Ugh. In order to go on this quest, we needed sustenance. Specifically, TACOS! Off to El Yahualica we went! El Yahualica is one of the stops on the #concordtacotrail The team there is very welcoming and friendly. They were happy to answer my questions about the menu and make suggestions. Service was excellent! I chose 3 Tacos to try: Grilled Shrimp Carne Asada El Pastor These made to order tacos were served in double tortillas. Clean, fresh, bright, spicy flavors. The shrimp were grilled just right and the meats were perfectly cooked. My favorite? El Pastor! The marinade was citrusy with just the right amount of heat on the finish. We'll be back! #concordtacotrail #visitconcordca

I had really high hopes for this spot! It came highly recommended by multiple people to me. I have to say though thatI have had better tacos before. I ordered a carne asada, pollo asado and carnitas taco to hopefully get an overview of the place. Surprisingly the chicken taco was the best one! The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The carnitas was good but I like my pork a little juicier. The carnitas was not good at all. The meat was cut up really small so it was over cooked to the point of being almost burnt. The salsas here though are so delicious! Nice amount of heat to them and very tasty! The other people with me were also not impressed because the vegetarian items they orders tasted like fish. They were not sure if it was the beans or the tomatoes but something was off.

    Chicken Wet Burrito.

Love the wet burritos, chips and salsa! Service is always amazing and love the free chips and salsa. Our go to Mexican cuisine for the family, mom loves the seafood.

Great experience cruising the Concord Taco Trail! Staff was excellent, appreciated the chef taking an interest in our dining experience and getting our thoughts on the food. The meats were tasty and delicious. Nice quantity of meat per taco. Pricing was very competitive. Service was fast and what a great personality! Definitely on our list of come backs - now I want to try their great looking burritos!

This little taqueria has been remodeled on the inside to be very modern and spacious. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. It's in a little shopping center in a residential neighborhood and has plenty of parking. I ordered a variety of tacos to include carne asada, birria, and carnitas tacos and Camarones a la Diabla. The tacos were fresh and tasted really good. The Camarones a la Diabla was just okay. It's more of a specialty item but I thought I'd give it try since it's one of my favorite dishes. The sauce wasn't spicy enough for me and I felt it could have had more flavor. They did start making a new item, fish tacos! Which look really good in the pictures.

    Shrimp tacos! BOMB!!!

It's official: I'm highly addicted to the shrimp tacos here. HIGHLY addicted. They're just so damn delish!!! My go-to Taqueria for shrimp tacos recently changed their hours due to COVID-19. Because of this, it's basically been impossible for me to go there for my shrimp taco fix. Had to search for an alternative in the meantime, and Yelp led me to El Yahualica. I've actually driven passed this taqueria on numerous occasions, but for some reason, I never took the time to actually stop in until now. This place is seriously a hidden gem! It's actually not really easy to see from street view. It's tucked away in the Las Montañas shopping center in the corner. The setup is that of your typical neighborhood taqueria. No frills here, just the basics. But the TACOS!!! Sheesh. Straight addictive. It's honestly the only thing that I've had here so far, and that's really just because I can't get enough of them. My cravings drive me wild, but El Yahualica has satisfied them to a tee every single time thus far. So about them tacos: All you really need is 3. Yep. JUST 3. That's a whole meal in itself. They load them up really nice and pack those babies with all of the lovable spices and garnishments that my little heart yearns for. Their shrimp tacos are street style and they provide the radishes, pickled carrots, jalapeño peppers, limes and grilled onions that I love. Their salsas are killer! And if you like it spicy, they'll give it to you spicy. Their chips are bomb AF too! I believe that they're made in-house and it tastes as such. Oh yeah, and they're complimentary!!! Shayla LOVES free chips and salsa, especially when they're tasty. Let me not forget about their horchata!!! Not too sweet, but still delicious. The staff is always friendly whenever I come in. They've cut their hours back a bit because of the pandemic, but they're still cranking out those take out orders. I'm so happy that I found this little place! It has now become my to-go shrimp taco spot. I know that I need to probably explore their menu a bit more, but right now... I'm hooked on them tacos! Would highly recommend them too.

Everything here is delicious! You won't be disappointed! Make sure you try their fish tacos if you're a sea food fan like me! (:

Come check out everything they have! It's delicious!! Make sure you try out their seafood and all the meats they're bomb !!

    Carne Asada Taco

We happened to be getting some work done nearby and asked if there was anything to eat within walking distance. We found our destination and have to say the food was so good!! We got street taco (Tripas, and carne asada) we also got nachos with some carne asada as well. So good everything tasted fresh and Reasonably priced. So, if you have to be near this spot give it a try.

It's one of those rare spots that stays consistently delicious no matter how many times you go, which is why I've happily supported them for so long. Their rotisserie chicken is out-of-this-world good--super juicy, perfectly seasoned, and roasted so the skin has that irresistible golden flavor. Every time I pick one up, I'm reminded why I've been coming here for so long. And the sides? Honestly, they're just as crave-worthy. The rice and beans are the ultimate comfort combo--flavorful, warm, and exactly what you want next to that chicken. The fresh tortillas are a game-changer: soft, warm, and perfect for making little tacos on the spot. And their salsa? Bright, fresh, and packed with just enough heat to make everything pop. I can't forget the carnitas either. After all these years, they remain some of the best I've had anywhere--tender, flavorful, with those crispy edges that make you want to order them again the moment you finish. El Mercado Del Sol is truly a Concord Gem! It's the kind of place that keeps you coming back because the food is consistently fantastic and made with care. I'm proud to support them and will keep doing so for many more years!

There's a ton of seating inside, and everything is very spacious. Though, I do have to say it always feels incredibly empty for some reason and there's never anybody actually inside outside of a few tables, but they do have tons of takeout so perhaps that's the tradeoff. However, don't let the lack of eating patrons inside the place put you off. This taqueria offers a good variety of different options as any taqueria would offer, and many of the options have pictures and stuff with it. The service here is, kind of hit or miss. The people in the front usually aren't overly friendly, and will sometimes feel like they're just there until the clock turns work over. Sometimes they're bordering on rude as they just kind of give you an indifferent stare as you're ordering, or will just feel as if they're half listening and not even looking up. The service was a bit better when I dined in, so perhaps maybe it's just the takeout, although it's usually the same person for both. Price wise, it's certainly not going to be cheap. If you want the best bang for your buck around here, El Aguila probably won't be it as there's a plethora of taquerias in this area. Food quality wise, it's pretty good overall. There are some tasty dishes here that will certainly warrant the little bit of extra cost here compared to other places. Things that I have tried here are the burritos and the torta. The burritos here are yummy as they they will have ingredients inside the burrito that is slightly different than your cookie cutter burrito at any other place. It really does help adds layers of flavor to it that other places do not offer. However, the best part of it is indeed the fact they grill the outside of the burrito to get that nice flakiness that wrap, and makes it a oh so rewarding experience. Meat portions was okay, but wish it had more especially for the cost. The torta I got was pretty good, as the ingredients inside were pretty typical so nothing really stood out. The break was toasted well, but I do wish it was a bit softer as it may have been to toasted. Should be toasted outside and soft inside, but this one just felt toasted all over. The meat portion also suffers from the same issue as the burrito as that it's not as generous as it could be. However, the flavors and taste were fine. It's certainly a nice place for those who want a bit of a different style of their Mexican cuisine. They have some flavors here that will be atypical of most of the cookie cutter taquerias around. While they are a bit expensive comparatively, the portions are actually decent (minus the meats). You can certainly be filled with just a single burrito. Worth a visit.

I pointed out to he waiter that he had a crumb on his chin and he wiped and chuckled like a nice champ. The music is pleasant but a bit louder than needed so I brought out the earplugs. The entire indoor setup is nice. Our food is arriving after what seems like a long wait meaning either the food is being served fresh, hot and tasty, or we are in for a mediocre experience. Our two plates arrived. Chilli relleno and Grilled chicken enchilada. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the smallish squair white plates. Reminds me of trying to look upscale. We own plates like these and that didn't work. Wife's enchilada plate was covered with three hot and very tasty chicken filled food bombs plus sides. The chili plate looked a little weak (too much plate showing) but that was the tastiest chilli relleno ever in 40 years of me enjoying these. Served hot with cheese filled up to the ying yang, an extra spiciness I have never had before that I loved and me wishing I had a spoon to scrape up the end of the sauce. Unfortunately the smallish rice and bean servings on both plates were luke warm and tasted so so. . I had similar hotter to those with tv dinners back in the day. The two plates and a coke at $43 has me scratching my chin on whether we will make that drive again. That is unless it is Sunday. Then possibly. .

Isla's fish tacos are phenomenal--easily the best in the area and a must-have every single time. I usually go for the tilapia, though I've sampled the red snapper as well. They come out super crispy on the outside yet remain incredibly moist inside, with the salsa and toppings melding together perfectly. I also visited their new location today and was pleasantly surprised by the ample parking and comfortable seating.
