in hand: carnitas taco. left to right: tripa, pastor, y asada

i'm a traditionalist so I didn't go for the birria tacos that this place apparently makes really well. Got 4 regular tacos with different meats: carnitas, asada, tripa and pastor. Price point: great. Food: great. All the meats are juicy and flavorful. Salsa roja has the perfect amount of spice. The tomatillo salsa has a great balance of zing and flavor. Location: tucked in a corner of the strip mall with TJ Maxx next to a a nail salon and a large empty storefront. The outside of this restaurant leaves more to be desired but don't let that fool you. First time eating food from here an definitely not the last. Also the cherry on top, the limes are not dry! No review for service since I did a doordash pickup.

Worth $7 and the wrong order? NOPE

Ehhh just had a not so great experience. I mean, not bad but definitely not good. It's the second time I've been here. The first time it was really good and the staff was really nice. Which is why I came back today. I ordered a carne asada crispy taco and canned soda. The menu by the register said $4 taco and $1.50 canned soda. Seems fair. The woman told me the total which was $7. I asked how it ended up being $7 and she pointed to the menu (paper) and it said "Prices subject to change." Then she said she thinks the taco is now $4.50. Then she called over the other lady who printed the receipt since the first lady didn't give me my receipt. Okay prices changed, not a big deal. I sit down and a few minutes later she brings me the taco. I take a bite and it's chicken. I had ordered carne asada. So I tell the lady that the taco was chicken and she said crispy tacos come with chicken unless you request another meat...WHICH I DID. I remind her I ordered carne asada and she apologizes and starts making the correct one. She then comes over to me and tells me it's almost done and makes sure to take away the chicken taco which I found funny. Most places would apologize for the incorrect order and offer to let you eat it while waiting for the correct item since THEY MESSED UP, but nope, she made sure to swiftly take it. Whatever, they like to waste food, it's on them but I would think customer service wise, it would have been a nice gesture for getting the order wrong and making me wait longer. I just didn't care of the service today and I feel the food was overpriced. You can definitely go down the street and get the same thing for a few bucks cheaper. Would I come back?...hmmmm probably not but maybe? As I said, first experience was good and today sucked.

Food is good at a decent price. Street tacos are $3.15 (al pastor and tripas are good!). Authentic Mexican food, rice is really good. Nice friendly service seals the deal for me. Stop by if you are near by.

The 3 Birria tacos & consomé were absolutely delicious! The drink i got was an agua fresca of jamaica and it was so refreshing the perfect beverage to go with my tacos. We also ordered a chicken burrito that was so filling! I definitely recommend coming here to eat! The ladies running this business as super friendly & hard working!

Easy to see why this spot is a local favorite! Delicious, fresh tacos and tasty papusas too! Casual dine-in options available, but there's also lots of take out orders.

So if you're in the area this spot is okay. Price wise I'd say it's a ok deal. Small dining area but I can tell the two ladies who work there are doing their best to keep it clean. You buss your own tables here so don't expect a fine dining experience. The spot was very busy on a weekday with locals, blue collar workers and tradesmen. It's always a good thing when you see the community and people of the same ethnicity as the food at the restaurant. Means there doing something right. We got a taco salad which was tasty but not a lot of salad, also it had rice in it which I didn't expect or would have ordered without. The Chile relleno and enchilada plate was decent size and had good flavor. I don't frequent this area often and I don't think I would go out of my way but if your local give it a try. One thing that was odd about this location is you basically walk through the storage area and part of the kitchen to use the restroom.

The fish tacos were so flavorful, they didn't even need any sauce! I love that the fish was not deep fried, too. Kudos to the chef!

The zucchini was cooked perfectly and not overcooked or soggy at all, which made the whole burrito taste fresh and flavorful. Everything paired together really well and had a lot of flavor without feeling too heavy. I also tried the mango margarita with tajín on the rim and really liked it because it wasn't overly sweet. Super refreshing and balanced. The Dude ordered the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and really enjoyed those as well. Customer service was also really good. The mango margarita.... Best thing I ordered! Cons- Burritos lacked flavor and was pretty unremarkable. The cheesecake. Idk if it was spoiled or a different type of cheesecake but it didn't taste good at all. My daughter ate it bc she's greedy lol and said that it tastes "interesting". I do feel like the food we ordered is not prepared the way I'm familiar with, so I'll own that. BUT flavor is flavor and this place did not do it for me at all.

We did find one that had excellent street tacos but they were very pricey, three tacos for $16.99 with no chips. I would need to get two orders so 6 street tacos with tax and tip would be well over $40 which is No Bueno. We weren't sure what to expect from La Tapatia but I liked that the menu had crunchy tacos. I ordered a pork tamale, a crunchy ground beef taco and some arroz. My friend ordered a chile relleno and a crunchy ground beef taco. The food came with complimentary tortilla chips and a salsa dip with frijoles. The dip and Chios were fresh and the salsa with blended with frijoles was enjoyable. The crunchy tacos were fried nicely and had a good amount of filling. I thinking about trying carnitas as the filling but there a bit of a charge. The tamale was pretty good. The masa was not too dry or too wet. The meat to masa ratio was about right. My friend liked his chile relleno. The rice was more well done than I usually prefer and needed a little more seasoning. Overall, the food was delicious, service very attentive and pricing was a bit higher than other restaurants but still fair. I plan to take the family next trip and try other dishes. I pointed out to he waiter that he had a crumb on his chin and he wiped and chuckled like a nice champ. The music is pleasant but a bit louder than needed so I brought out the earplugs. The entire indoor setup is nice. Our food is arriving after what seems like a long wait meaning either the food is being served fresh, hot and tasty, or we are in for a mediocre experience. Our two plates arrived. Chilli relleno and Grilled chicken enchilada. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the smallish squair white plates. Reminds me of trying to look upscale. We own plates like these and that didn't work. Wife's enchilada plate was covered with three hot and very tasty chicken filled food bombs plus sides. The chili plate looked a little weak (too much plate showing) but that was the tastiest chilli relleno ever in 40 years of me enjoying these. Served hot with cheese filled up to the ying yang, an extra spiciness I have never had before that I loved and me wishing I had a spoon to scrape up the end of the sauce. Unfortunately the smallish rice and bean servings on both plates were luke warm and tasted so so. . I had similar hotter to those with tv dinners back in the day. After giving it some thought, I decided to return and explore what it was about Isla that everyone raved over. This time around, I ordered the fish tacos, and I was hooked! Isla's fish tacos are phenomenal--easily the best in the area and a must-have every single time. I usually go for the tilapia, though I've sampled the red snapper as well. They come out super crispy on the outside yet remain incredibly moist inside, with the salsa and toppings melding together perfectly. I also visited their new location today and was pleasantly surprised by the ample parking and comfortable seating. The space is beautiful, making it even more enjoyable to stop by for those irresistible fish tacos. Here's a quick rundown of my ratings: Fish (all varieties): 8.7/10 Birria: 7/10 (good, but not their standout item) Carne Asada Super Burrito: 5.8/10 When it comes to satisfying my fish taco cravings, Isla remains the only choice.
