Empanada de loroco - Mexican cheese with a Salvadoran herb -- delicious!
Bob R.

We stopped by for a quick lunch on a Saturday and were blown away by both the excellent service, quality meals and reasonable prices (how often can you say that these days??) at Rancero Taqueria in Concord. Our 5-star experience started with the server welcoming us in and helping us navigate the menu. I had the chicken taco salad - liking the idea of salad around the shell, and the bowl full of rice/beans/meat! My wife had an empanada de loroco- very tasty. And our Horchata drink was really the best I've ever had! There is an outdoor parklet that was popular, but we ate in the small indoor area. Our server checked on us a couple of times - something you don't see at fast casual restaurants. He really made the difference. I can't wait to go back

Ranchero Taqueria is our go-to Mexican restaurant for two main reason - 1) super close to the crib 2) good food and fast takeout service. We moved to the area over a year ago and have been to many Mexican places nearby with good results. We consistently order takeout lunch from Ranchero Taqueria because the food is usually ready in 10-15 minutes. My wife likes their Carnitas and we both like sharing some Super Nachos for lunch when we work from home. Having a toddler in daycare, this sadly might be our date meal for the week, haha! The ambience is friendly and the staff makes you feel at home. We like to order tacos and recommend the Al Pastor, Carnitas and Lengua options. Show up and serve yourself some extra salsa to go and you'll probably leave a happy customer! Support a local business that stands out in a busy area with lots of options.

Three steak tacos to-go - They were good!

***3.5 Stars*** A solid option for street tacos on Monument. I've been here quite a few times in the past but mainly for their taco truck. The tacos at their truck are absolutely addictive! Their taco truck has since disappeared and/or relocated (please bring it back!!! I miss it!). So, now I've had to resort to getting tacos from their brick and mortar. Not that the tacos from here are bad or anything, but they are a lot different than the ones that I've had at their truck. Their street tacos are a lot larger than most other places as they tend to use the larger corn tortillas here (the smaller ones at their taco trucks). They definitely know how to stack the meat, and all of their salsas have always been pretty flavorful. I'm a big fan of their steak tacos here as I feel that they really know how to marinate the meat and it's pretty tender. Three street tacos should do you in pretty good, but if you have a larger appetite, you may wanna grab a few more. They offer complimentary chips and salsa which is always a plus. Service at the window can be hit or miss, but I usually just grab my items to go anyways. Sometimes this place is packed and other times I'm the only one inside. Since COVID, they've added a beautiful covered patio space in the parking lot (where their taco truck used to be). It's a nice little setup but I haven't yet sat out and ate there. Parking can be an issue since it's shared with several different merchants in the shopping center, but I can at least find parking behind El Rancho's building across the parking lot. I've also come here for breakfast a few times since they have a decent Mexican breakfast menu. The chilaquiles are quite good, but I wouldn't make them my first choice option for breakfast as there are several other taquerias that are better for it. But for filling street tacos, this place is pretty tasty. Still wishing that they'd bring their taco truck back, but I guess I'll just have to settle by coming here instead until they do.

This place is yummy! We frequent here often because of the quality of food. Whenever we are in the area we stop by for lunch I haven't been here in a while. But due to COVID they did some remodeling. No more indoor seating. They have added in a very nice outdoor seating area. All of the menu boards have been updated. I was extremely impressed. And of course the food is still amazing

Was on my way to Costco but was also craving some tacos so I did a quick google search I stumbled across this spot. Let me brief y'all. I work as an emergency medical technician on a 911 paramedic ambulance in alameda county primarily serving the citizens of Oakland, San Leandro and Hayward.. I'm not the best when it comes to meal prepping so I eat out a lot. Being in those cities, trust me, I know good Mexican food. Tacos el Gordo is in my top 5 taquerias. This spot though? This spot just got added to my top 5 just on the tacos alone. The meat (carne asada and pollo) was juicy, the mild green sauce was tasty and the corn tortilla was perfect and didn't fall all apart. I like how they also served it in a cool meal prep container, that's a +1 in my book. Even went to patronize the market next door and got some baked goods. Staff was friendly. I'll be coming back. YOU SHOULD TOO.

Menudo & lengua tacos
Melissa T.

First time here and I was only planning on ordering lengua tacos but saw menudo on the menu and I HAD to order both. The seating inside is a little cramped, but we made do and happily shared the tables with other patrons. There's outdoor seating as well, but all of those tables were occupied. It was a little bit of a wait, only because they were slammed! Which is a good sign of delicious food. Our order came and I couldn't take the smile off my face because of how tasty everything looked! The menudo came with all of the regular fixings. My first spoonful was heavenly! The portion size is large and enough to share with two people. The lengua tacos were so tender and flavorful. Can't wait to return!!

Rancheros taqueria has the best Mexican food and service in concord. My family and I visited the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago and everything we tried was delicious. We ordered tacos, quesabirrias, shrimp cocktail, and biónicos. The staff were also very nice and attentive. I would highly recommend Rancheros Taqueria.

Ranchero Taqueria catered a party we threw for 50 of our friends. The tacos were fantastic! Everyone loved them and the Al pastor was the first to run out. They provided a great spread of tacos, beans, rice, fruit and drinks. They have a professional set up for the backyard. Everyone loved the food and we were stuffed and still had leftovers. My husband and I were very happy with Ranchero Taqueria and would highly recommend them for catering or whenever you are craving tacos!! 10/10!

LOL $11 for a juice? Get out of here! The regular size is $5 and the large is $12?? Make it make sense to me. Super expensive and for what. I was so shocked. I could get TWO boba or some other drinks for $12. My cocktails that I always get in my favorite restaurant is about $7.... oh my gosh, that really shocked me.

As of today, this is my new favorite nacho spot. Generous serving, meat, cheese, and guacamole (tasted really fresh). Good price too, only $10. It's clean and nice service.

Cisco here!

Came here on Sunday afternoon, looks like parking lot gets full but people are always in and out of the surrounding stores so you'll get a spot if it's full, we have a couple menu items we were all pleased with our food they have a lot of fruit drink options, freshly made! When you order your drinks are quickly made and put up on the counter on top of a receipt that has your name , your food is served on very nice white plates , and there is a covered seating area outside! Great place to eat

How is this place?

Super casual. Great, authentic Mexican food. Love their chicken enchiladas and everything they make with shredded beef. This place makes THE BEST rice.

My longtime favorite, this place is AMAZING!…read more I've been going to El Mercado Del Sol in Concord for YEARS, and let me tell you... this place never misses! It's one of those rare spots that stays consistently delicious no matter how many times you go, which is why I've happily supported them for so long. Their rotisserie chicken is out-of-this-world good--super juicy, perfectly seasoned, and roasted so the skin has that irresistible golden flavor. Every time I pick one up, I'm reminded why I've been coming here for so long. And the sides? Honestly, they're just as crave-worthy. The rice and beans are the ultimate comfort combo--flavorful, warm, and exactly what you want next to that chicken. The fresh tortillas are a game-changer: soft, warm, and perfect for making little tacos on the spot. And their salsa? Bright, fresh, and packed with just enough heat to make everything pop. I can't forget the carnitas either. After all these years, they remain some of the best I've had anywhere--tender, flavorful, with those crispy edges that make you want to order them again the moment you finish. El Mercado Del Sol is truly a Concord Gem! It's the kind of place that keeps you coming back because the food is consistently fantastic and made with care. I'm proud to support them and will keep doing so for many more years!

Located in the small shopping area off Contra Costa, right across from Pizza My Way, you will find…read moreEl Aguila Mexican Cuisine. First off, the place is pretty big. There's a ton of seating inside, and everything is very spacious. Though, I do have to say it always feels incredibly empty for some reason and there's never anybody actually inside outside of a few tables, but they do have tons of takeout so perhaps that's the tradeoff. However, don't let the lack of eating patrons inside the place put you off. This taqueria offers a good variety of different options as any taqueria would offer, and many of the options have pictures and stuff with it. The service here is, kind of hit or miss. The people in the front usually aren't overly friendly, and will sometimes feel like they're just there until the clock turns work over. Sometimes they're bordering on rude as they just kind of give you an indifferent stare as you're ordering, or will just feel as if they're half listening and not even looking up. The service was a bit better when I dined in, so perhaps maybe it's just the takeout, although it's usually the same person for both. Price wise, it's certainly not going to be cheap. If you want the best bang for your buck around here, El Aguila probably won't be it as there's a plethora of taquerias in this area. Food quality wise, it's pretty good overall. There are some tasty dishes here that will certainly warrant the little bit of extra cost here compared to other places. Things that I have tried here are the burritos and the torta. The burritos here are yummy as they they will have ingredients inside the burrito that is slightly different than your cookie cutter burrito at any other place. It really does help adds layers of flavor to it that other places do not offer. However, the best part of it is indeed the fact they grill the outside of the burrito to get that nice flakiness that wrap, and makes it a oh so rewarding experience. Meat portions was okay, but wish it had more especially for the cost. The torta I got was pretty good, as the ingredients inside were pretty typical so nothing really stood out. The break was toasted well, but I do wish it was a bit softer as it may have been to toasted. Should be toasted outside and soft inside, but this one just felt toasted all over. The meat portion also suffers from the same issue as the burrito as that it's not as generous as it could be. However, the flavors and taste were fine. It's certainly a nice place for those who want a bit of a different style of their Mexican cuisine. They have some flavors here that will be atypical of most of the cookie cutter taquerias around. While they are a bit expensive comparatively, the portions are actually decent (minus the meats). You can certainly be filled with just a single burrito. Worth a visit.

Feb 2 2025 3.5 stars…read more Lately our go to Mexican eats is Cinco De Mayo in Martinez. Christians-smh. It is Sunday and Cinco is closed. The server and service here at Isla was perfect. I pointed out to he waiter that he had a crumb on his chin and he wiped and chuckled like a nice champ. The music is pleasant but a bit louder than needed so I brought out the earplugs. The entire indoor setup is nice. Our food is arriving after what seems like a long wait meaning either the food is being served fresh, hot and tasty, or we are in for a mediocre experience. Our two plates arrived. Chilli relleno and Grilled chicken enchilada. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the smallish squair white plates. Reminds me of trying to look upscale. We own plates like these and that didn't work. Wife's enchilada plate was covered with three hot and very tasty chicken filled food bombs plus sides. The chili plate looked a little weak (too much plate showing) but that was the tastiest chilli relleno ever in 40 years of me enjoying these. Served hot with cheese filled up to the ying yang, an extra spiciness I have never had before that I loved and me wishing I had a spoon to scrape up the end of the sauce. Unfortunately the smallish rice and bean servings on both plates were luke warm and tasted so so. . I had similar hotter to those with tv dinners back in the day. The two plates and a coke at $43 has me scratching my chin on whether we will make that drive again. That is unless it is Sunday. Then possibly. .

After giving it some thought, I decided to return and explore what it was about Isla that everyone raved over. This time around, I ordered the fish tacos, and I was hooked! Isla's fish tacos are phenomenal--easily the best in the area and a must-have every single time. I usually go for the tilapia, though I've sampled the red snapper as well. They come out super crispy on the outside yet remain incredibly moist inside, with the salsa and toppings melding together perfectly. I also visited their new location today and was pleasantly surprised by the ample parking and comfortable seating. The space is beautiful, making it even more enjoyable to stop by for those irresistible fish tacos. Here's a quick rundown of my ratings: Fish (all varieties): 8.7/10 Birria: 7/10 (good, but not their standout item) Carne Asada Super Burrito: 5.8/10 When it comes to satisfying my fish taco cravings, Isla remains the only choice.
