What can I say........it's Five Guys! The patty melts are always on point, the staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is always booming. It's just one of those spots that never misses.

I love this location because it is close by the theater and shops. We were able to come by and grab a meal here before our movie started. This location is welcoming and gets pretty busy at times but the employees here have the system down. My burger and fries are perfect every single time and love that they are consistent.

First time for hubby

First time at this Pleasant Hill location as part of a mystery shopper assignment and brought hubby along for his first experience as well. We arrived before lunch on a Saturday and easily parked on the street just a block away. The place is considered fast casual and the menu is pretty simple with a variety of burgers, hot dogs, shakes and fries. You must get the fries!? They are cut on the premise and fried twice that you get a creamy center and crispy outside. They are seasoned perfectly and the portion is generous. It is their policy when you order the regular size to get almost double the portions. We had a little cheese burger all the way which is a single patty with mushrooms, grilled chopped onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes and mayo. The burger is pressed so it's thin and juicy. My order included a fountain drink for the design your own Coke machine. I love the variety. We are in and saw that you can have some peanuts while you are waiting. That's cool. Wait time was around 5 minutes and their policy is no longer than 8 minutes. All I can say is that hubby loved the fries and I look forward to coming back. Yummy!

Shrinkflation 2024. Regular fries. Gone are the days when the bag would be full.

Starbird Chicken

Starbird Chicken

In the mood for delicious chicken? This was our first time visit here…read more My kids recommended Starbird Chicken for some ono fried chicken sandwiches. We ended up buying a variety of menu items to try tonight. The ordering is simple. Use a kiosk to enter your choices and pay by credit cards, Apple Pay or cash. A seasonal Japanese Bbq line up was featured today. We ordered the Japanese Bbq tender box, Tokyo sesame crunch salad, sides of French fries, 10 piece wings with half Parmesan and half Sweet Thai Chili. Sauces and salad dressing were ordered on the side. Sauces included the Star sauce (a secret recipe that is described as creamy, sweet and tangy, like a blend of mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, vinegar and spices), Honey Chipotle BBQ, Wasabi Aioli and Tokyo Sesame salad dressing (carrot ginger dressing). The chicken tenders are crunchy and lightly coated on the outside. The tenders are moist and delicious inside. The chicken wings are lightly coated and crispy! The Parmesan and Sweet Thai Chili seasoning are savory and flavorful. A winner combination. Service is fast and efficient here. Your order is made quickly. There are clean tables and chairs located inside and outside. Take out is available as well. All gender bathrooms are available inside the restaurant. Free parking out front of the restaurant.

We were in the area the other week and were curious what this shop was. Then we saw some gift cards…read morefor sale in the nearby Costco, and I was wondering if we would be able to spend the amount that the gift card offers lol! We finally got to try Starbird today, and we got the Indian hotbird sandwich, Avo Cabo salad, and a side of fries. My fat fingers accidentally hit the "lettuce wrap, no bun" option for the Indian hotbird sandwich when we ordered at the kiosk (we didn't figure this out until we opened the box at home). Even though that was the case, they used romaine lettuce, and it was so crisp. The Indian hotbird tenders had a good flavor profile, and it wasn't that spicy. I would order this again, but would probably go for the regular bun option lol. The chicken was a bit soggy for this one, since it had lots of sauce and romaine lettuce, but again, I accidentally clicked for the lettuce, which I would expect to add to the sogginess of the crispy chicken. The Avo Cabo salad was HUGE! Definitely good as a standalone meal or to share. There was also a generous amount of crispy chicken in there chopped up. The chicken was pretty crispy even though it was next to the lettuce in this box, maybe a bit on the salty side for me, when the dressing was added to it. There is also a good amount of batter on the chicken. I am not a fan of cotija cheese because of the smell, but I can see how people would enjoy that. I would probably order it without cotija next time. I really liked the jicama...it seemed like it had a bit of tajin. The jicama was crunchy but had a bit of a softness to it, like a Korean pear texture. I also liked that there was avocado in this salad, which is also why I chose it. For $4.27, the fries were kind of small. It had a nice amount of salt, but was more on the soggy side for me. My husband enjoyed the sogginess of the fries, though. I would probably order these extra crispy next time. Service was friendly. Even though we didn't click on the utensils and napkins for checkout at the kiosk, they ensured that we got some when they offered and we took them up on their offer. There were some tables that seemed dirty when we came in, but probably they were dealing more so with the dinner time rush for to-go orders rather than getting to clean the tables. I can't wait to go back and try their other sandwiches, salads, and even their nuggets!

Their burritos have my family in a chokehold and we have been going every week sometimes twice a week haha. Not good for the waistline but the cravings call. The carne asada super burrito is my go to! The meat is smoky , flavorful, & they stuff it generously. Their birria tamale is my kids favorite. While in the area, we wanted to try a place that my girlfriend's coworker recommended and more…read moreimportantly had a good amount of vegetarian/pescatarian options for my girlfriend's restrictions for lent. The place was pretty unassuming, with a short parking alleyway next to a gas station. However the inside (which it seems like was renovated a year ago, was really nice and inviting. It was spacious with a great bar area and even an outside patio area for some choice in where you wanna sit. The servers were really nice getting us started with drinks, chips and salsa, and a slew of different hot sauce bottles. they ranged from mild, to pretty hot and my favorites were the salsa verde and orange (some type of habanero?) sauces. The menu was really well organized and easy to navigate. One of the cool things is that if you order just 2 or more tacos (which are pricy to be fair but ginormous and filling), you can order some free sides and they provide plenty of it. I ordered the Norteno and Vampiro tacos while my partner ordered the Pescado and Patron. Norteno: 5/5 The first one I tried and it blew my socks off. The star of basically all of the specialty tacos is the fried cheese on the tortilla. It was luscious and charred nicely and gave a great backdrop to all of the toppings regardless of what you choose. The norteno, other than the cheese is a standard carne asada with pepper and cabbage slaw essentially and was nice and refreshing to start. Vampiro: 10/5 One of my favorite tacos (or in this case tostadas) I have ever had. Essentially a suped up version of the norteno but exchange the slaw for street taco toppings like cilantro onions and guacamole. It was kind of overwhelming how good it was that a few bites in you get somewhat full off of the flavors. Pescado: 5/5 nice and crispy and invoked a lot of the vibes of getting fish tacos on the beach in SoCal. The pico really shone on this one + the orange sauce over top was really nice. Patron: 5/5 tons of juicy shrimp - very simple compared to the others but great nonetheless. Sides: 5/5 Refried beans were the star here as it had all of that greasy lard flavor that everyone loves. The charred onions and nopales were great as well. The agua Fresca we ordered was solid as well. Ultimately this surprised us in such a great way. It is up there with some of the best Mexican restaurants we've tried in the Bay Area and it's no doubt worth a drive to if you are ever around the Concord/Walnut Creek area. Will be coming back soon to try the rest of the menu.
