I was really craving a bacon cheeseburger. Since we were already in Pleasant Hill, we stopped by 5 Guys. In the past, we have gone to the Clayton location so we are familiar with the routine and menu. The cashier was very efficient and fairly friendly. The music was a comfortable level. Not too loud, not too soft. The cooks were right on task and started the food promptly. The restaurant was fairly clean at first glance. There were a few others inside but not busy by any means. Our food came up in an acceptable amount of time. ( I'm very sensitive to the timing and cleanliness after being in restaurant management for so many years). So, for some reason, our burgers seemed much smaller than we remember. The Little Cheeseburger that I ordered was dry and had no flavor. There was a tiny (1/2 teaspoon) of mayo on only one side of the bun. The bun is so much larger than the meat. The bacon on mine was cooked crisp just like I requested. However, the mushrooms I ordered were absent. I kept thinking there was something missing but I kept focusing on how dry and tasteless it was which distracted me from the mushrooms. I put some extra mayo on the burger when o noticed the missing mushrooms. When I brought it to the cashiers attention, he said "do you want a side of them"? Ok, so half my burger was gone, I didn't enjoy it and I don't even get a sorry for screwing it up. Thanks. Overall? Well, I would have to try one more time to see if tonight is a fluke but that won't be anytime soon. Oh, and the pleasant music..... Well it didn't last. It wasn't long before it was absolutely blaring! I grew up in the 70's & 80's so I can really relate to LOUD music. I love a good beat. But I also know that there is a place and time for it. A bar might be one but not a joint where there are families eating and anyone that actually wants to hear someone else speak! I'm really bummed to give only 2 stars. So, we venture in and take a look at the menu. No combos in sight, which they should really consider. Anyway, I'm looking for the veggie offerings and see a veggie sandwich which I load up with everything. There's no pattie which I knew from the beginning so I'm ok with that. Now, the meat eater and burger connoisseur with me wants to see why they call themselves "the willy wonka of burgers" and gets a little bacon cheeseburger. Well, after a few bites I look at my friends face and ask about the burger and get a resounding "Meh" my veggie sandwich fell into the "meh" category as well but, thats not the place for healthy eating anyway. Went to the new Dublin Five Guys and the only thing that makes the burgers good are the toppings. The meat was dry and tastless. The fry's were great and the peanuts make it fun while you wait. read more

Frankly, I don't get what all the great reviews are for. Burgers are just OK. The place is a noisy madhouse with bad quality rock blasting away so loud you can't wait to get out of there. If you want a local truly great burger, just go to Georges in Walnut Creek. Can't be beat ! read more

Im only giving one star because of the prices. I think it's ridiculous that you can't get a simple lunch for under $10 I was in today and ordered a hotdog and a small shake and it was $10. For $10 it should be better than your basic grocery store hotdog and it was not. And I'm sick all these fast food places with tip jars. You didn't serve me and your not my employee. Have been to other 5 Guys east of Cali. and they are all just as good as the new one in Pleasant Hill. Great juicy burger made with anything on top you want and excellent fries, made east coast style. This is how a burger should be.. Large enough to make you stop and think about how you are going to attempt to bite into it, and messy. Not real impressed. Burgers were ok but for not much more red robins would have been much better. All in all I think it was overpriced.

I'm not a picky fast food eater and I have never yelped a restaurant before but I was so disappointed that I joined to write about this restaurant. I didn't try the burger but I ordered the grilled cheese. It was gross. They simply put cheese in a hamburger bun without the meat. That is not a grilled cheese, I don't know what that was supposed to be. The fries were way to greasy and the brown takeout bag was drenched with grease by the time I got home. I tried to add salt to the fries to give them taste but they were beyond saving. To be fair, I know that they specialize in hamburgers but based on this experience I don't think I'll ever go back to risk my money again. And who can enjoy a hamburger without some decent fries? and If you don't have the bread to make a grilled cheese, then don't put it on the menu. read more

I think people only like this place because there aren't many other options. In N Out is opening right up the street though, so that won't last. The burgers are soggy and so are the fries, and it's always way too crowded. Also, for lazy people there isn't a drive through. This usually isn't a problem but if someone is like 700 lbs or something they might find it inconvenient. read more

All the hype was a cloud of smoke. The burgers were burnt and had a rough and odd texture, almost no toppings were on it compared to what I ordered and it was a bit small. The fries were soggy and bland. The meat did not have much flavor and I really do prefer a Big Mac. Six Dollar Burger at Carls Jr. is far superior to this. In and Out Burger is still the gold standard. This place looks suspiciously like In n Out in the decor. I will not go back. read more

Oh. Em. Gee. Am I being anti-Californian if I say that this place is.... *dun dun dun* better than In-N-Out??? Well... sorry, but it is. My favorite burger anywhere is Teddy's in Hawaii- it has become my standard to which all burgers should be held. This place definitely meets up to these tough standards. The meat is flavorful and juicy and the toppings were yummy as well. Why not 5 stars, then you ask? Well, one of the things that sets Teddy's over the edge are the insanely good buns they have. Five guys' buns fall can't quite contain the deliciousness of the burger. It falls apart about half way through. That's pretty much the only strike against them though. Great burger! Oh, and also- their Cajun fries are hella good. Yeah, I threw in a 'hella' to reinstate my NorCal cred. :) As for the facilities, they were clean, although a little cramped when I went because it was pretty darn busy. The service is good and the staff is very friendly. This really is just a good place. Yay for Five Guys. read more

Great burgers. Not so great fries. But they give you free peanuts and they have plenty of seating. I wish they had more of an outdoor space. Zachary's pizza is now on the same block and their outdoor patio is quite enticing in the summer months. Five Guys is the only burger that I crave when I want a burger though. They let you put all kinds of fixings on it. Plus, they are pretty good at making sure your burger is made the way you order it. The only thing I don't really like is that their fries are bland and pretty plain compared to In-N-Out and let's face it, McDonalds. They do have the best fries...even if they are engineered to be that way. read more

So if your going to come here, you have to be prepared and know the sizes...because otherwise you will order too much food! I went with my boyfriend and we split a small fries....which was still way more than we needed and probably equivalent to a large fry at other places. We both ordered "little burgers", because we were forewarned that the regular burgers are double patty hamburgers burgers. The staff was very friendly and I liked that the food was very fresh. I liked all of the condiments that were available, but the bun definitely needs some work...because it would break apart. I would definitely come back, but it's definitely more expensive than fast food. read more

Coming from the east coast, I was hankering some five guys. Missing their bag of fries with a dripping burger that is filled with a unique combination of veggies and sauces I was excited to find a five guys in the area. For those use to the east coast, you will be a bit upset to find that they don't fill the bag with fries. Other than that, I still love their burgers and would recommend the place over Mooyah or the habit. read more

Everyone already knows what I'm about to say. There have even been songs written about the "5 guys burger experience", but nevertheless I'm gonna say it again: this place is orders of magnitude better than any other burger joint I've ever been to in my entire life. In addition to that, when you visit this location you will enjoy a friendly, cozy atmosphere in a perfect location. They even offer you free peanuts while you wait for the order to be completed. I'm big on burgers so I judge a little harsher. The burgers are excellent I got the bacon cheeseburger and I have to say It was cooked perfectly and the meat tasted of good quality. The bacon was crispy and it was the perfect meat to bun ratio. I also ordered the cajun fries but I gotta say they didn't really have any flavor. Another thing I was not a fan of is the create a burger concept like fuddruckers without the toppings bar. You tell them what you want including mustard, ketchup, mayonaisse. I don't mind that as a option but there should be a burger that is a Five Guys burger that already as toppings. So I would still say Five Guys is a top 5 offering for burgers in the area, Buckhorn Grill is better and about the same price. read more

Thought this was a pretty decent burger! Nothing really like In-n-Out though . . . In-N-Out is cheaper and really in a league of its own. Five Guys delivers on the patty. The condiments come together - not too salty. Great burger! Have to add, I think they've got In-N-Out beat! They just have a better bun, better condiments - and, the customer service is GREAT. They will re-do your burger, or make it right if they make it wrong! I love any establishment that honors the customer this way - it is THE ONLY way to do business. read more

Tried the Cajun fries and found that they were too heavily seasoned for my taste. The little bacon cheeseburger was just the right size. The patty and the bread bun is more substantial than In n Out. If this location had a drive thru it would do a lot more business. But the movie theater's parking garage is probably the most reliable way to find close parking or if you're lucky you can find a spot near Borders or on the street. read more

Burgers are ok. I had a little bacon cheeseburger and it was plenty. The regular size is the equivalent of an In n Out Double Double. The fries are quite disapointing. They have no flavor regular and the cajun seasoning doesn't really fix them. I'd pick In N Out or The Habit any day. read more

Great burgers made EXACTLY how you want it( they ask) I'm not sure if I like it more, less, or about the same as in n outs burgers. I do however like five guy's fries more but no animal style option and no milkshakes. Also costs more than in n out. Hence not the fifth star but I say 4.5 stars. read more
