I've reviewed before - think the food is ok. Writing this review of their telephone customer service. I am not a fan of standing and waiting for carryout in this place. The setup is ok for eat in - but not really for to-go orders. I noticed they promote calling in advance to order, and I did that once - it worked ok. They have online ordering, but online isn't convenient when driving. I tried calling to order carryout three times in the past two weeks. Each time, the phone rang at least 10 times before someone picked it up. Each time, I was immediately put on hold. So, each time, I waited 2-3 minutes, then hung up. It would be a good option for me to pickup on the way home - but they can't seem to get their act together to take phone orders. It's a different type of restaurant, but the burger at Jack's around the corner is better anyway, and for the same price. It would just be nice to have a variety, and I like 5 Guys fries. read more

Delicious burger, really tasty house cut fries (and a TON of them with each order), and a bunch of topping options. Better than In-and-Out in my opinion. It's a close battle between Five Guys and TrueBurger in Oakland for the best $5 burger in the East Bay. read more

The regular hamburger comes with TWO patties! It's a comfort food that they've really figured out and made easy for us. "Everything" is mayo, pickle, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and I think even a dab of mustard. Then they have other options you can add like bbq sauce, jalapeños and more. So I first had Five Guys while I was living in Philly. And I was addicted. I was never happier than when I came home, they were in the Bay, too! YAY ME!! The burgers are yummy with everything I could ever want on them and the fries, way too many but I'm not complaining because they are yummy and fresh! Pretty good food but terribly rude staff. I called on a Saturday afternoon (around 1130) and was asked to be put on hold, then they hung up on me. Call back, no answer. Came in person to order instead because no big deal, it happens right? Tried to order at the counter and the woman there kept talking over me as if I'd never been there before. I asked for a mini cheeseburger with no bun and before I could even finish my sentence (the no bun part) she was asking me repeatedly BUT WHICH TOPPINGS? I had to stop her and say I'm sorry did you even get what I wanted? I'm not even sure what the rush was- there was literally not a single person in line behind me. Rude. In n out and nations from now on. To boot- reviews that the place is kind of dingy and covered in peanut shells are accurate. I have tried them three times now and I don't get what the fuss is all about. The fries I don't like even when I told them they are to be hot out of the grease. They still were not crispy. The burger is WAY over cooked. It was like a little hot piece of cardboard. And the sign that says "please do not take peanuts out of store due to allergies" reeks of a lawyer being on their board. If someone is that allergic that they might get a whiff of the peanuts in my hand then they should not be out and about in the world. I love a good hamburger, this was not it. I have tried it twice, both times, I found myself wishing I had gone to In & Out. Fries are too starchy, and the burger was just okay. My husband won't go back, nor will my parents. Not worth all of the fuss. read more

I came here on Saturday to try it out. I walked in and was overwhelmed. The guy behind the counter was helpful in explaining the menu. I ordered the single patty and just had mayo, tomato, lettuce, and ketchup on it. I also got regular fries. The regular fries were thicker than I thought. I was expecting something like In-N-Out. I ate the burger and thought something was missing. I'm not sure what it was, but something was missing. I don't know if the patty is missing some seasoning. I started to think about it. Sure it was good, but it lacked something. The Cajun fries reminded me of a packet of top ramen season on it. It's nice to try, but would only come here if I was in the neighborhood. I got a little cheeseburger with A-1 sauce and grilled mushrooms.....the mushrooms turned out to be canned mushrooms and were nasty but once I scraped them off it was amazing. I love this place! the Cajun fries were delicious! Just don't order the grilled mushrooms. read more

As chains go, Five Guys has one of the best burgers you'll find. Juicy, plenty of topping options and mighty tasty. I don't know how anyone can compare this place to In-n-Out - it's a completely different kind of experience. Neither is better than the other, IMO.. they're just different. read more

This was my first time ever Five Guy'ing. I am not a huge hamburger eater, but I did have a yen, and was out in the East Bay and I had heard this place had good burgers. I have nothing negative to say about the workers or the quality of the restaurant aesthetically at all. I though have to say the "Little" Bacon Cheeseburger was completely unmemorable . And the Cajun fries have permeated my apartment in a very overpowering uncomfortable stench that made the actual tasting them unbearable . Five Guys. The customization factor is awesome. That is a perk. As for the taste. Eh. Dried out Nations burger IMHO. A cheeseburger is suppose to be juicy! Their Fries are pretty good, If you dig the rustic skin on flavor. I found the price to be a little too high as well. I wasn't really into it. The fries looked really weird, and they didn't taste very good. It seemed like my burger was kind of falling apart. Pretty much all that appealed to me was the soda. So yah, my experience wasn't great, but maybe I was just unlucky and got all the bad food. read more

I was very excited when I saw this open in pleasant hill. I had heard a lot of good things about five guys...and it lives up to the hype. Consistently good food, and a great variety of toppings. They give you TONS of fries. The mushrooms made my bun a little soggy, but the grilled onions are killer. read more

My significant other and I finally decided to give this place a try after hearing very mixed things about it. As is normal, the truth is in the middle. We ordered online and picked up our food. I have to say the online ordering is very easy, and the pickup was equally easy. The food was ready when I got there, the staff fast to address me and get me the order, and the restaurant clean. Finally, I'm not sure what the fuss about the pricing is, the regular burgers are double burgers, with two quarter pound patties, the little a quarter pound burger. When you consider the pricing, $6.59 for a fully loaded half pound bacon cheese burger, or $5.09 for the quarter pound version is only slightly more than fast good places. Similarly, the single order of Cajun fries at $2.99 is the same as two orders of medium to large fries at any normal fast food place. On to the food. The burgers were cooked all the way through (I prefer medium, but show many any fast food place that does that) but still juicy. Good flavor, the bacon was well cooked, and the grilled onions and mushrooms added a nice touch. The portions were huge, unless you are super hungry or a competitive eater, the "little" burger is a better choice. Both of us felt the burgers were better than any fast food place, and only a little behind the best burgers from Barneys, Lafayette Park Bistro, or Postino. I give the fries a 3 out of 5. The are larger cut than most places (which I like), but were also flaccid. They were fresh, and the Cajun seasoning added some really good flavor. We will definitely return. The biggest problem I can see with this place is the horrible parking caused by the movie theater in the same shopping center. They should have a couple of dedicated pickup spaces. read more

This is another bad place to eat. Only about 8 patrons and 25 minutes later we find that others were served ahead of us who came in 5-10 minutes after us. The reason? They mixed up our order, couldn't read it, something, so instead of figuring it out, decided to fill orders ahead of ours. Didn't start working on it until I went up to see what the delay was. And when the burgers came out, they looked they were made by three year olds assembling mud pies with the sauce dripping and all over the wrapper. Extremely disappointed with this branch of the chain. Don't throw more money at them, just train them better. read more

Really enjoyed tonights dinner. We did take out, which is actually better, the place is a bit cold. However, the burger was so old fashioned and good, I was pleasantly surprised. The burgers and fries are delicious and made with real ingredients. With a refillable soda you'll throw down about $10, a pretty good value. The portion of fries are generous, and they have free peanuts as appetizers, you will be full. The atmosphere is half American Diner, half pick-up and seat yourself. The place is decorated with customer revues, and awards, they have rock and roll music playing and have little index cards and crayons for you to draw on and pin up on the wall. You order at the counter and the burger comes in reasonable time. They have this stupid gimmick though, so if you order a regular burger it comes with a double paddy which inevitably self destructs before you can finish it, so know what you're ordering. The good part is that you can order green peppers, mushrooms, etc, and that makes coming here worth the trip. The enhanced burgers are pretty good. The free peanuts are a good item to tide you over. The last few times I've noticed the dining area getting dirtier, one time actually scuzzy, so watch out for this. read more

My least favorite location. The quality of the food is lower and the place is always dirty. Peanut shells fill the tables and floors, the soda and condiments tables are always a mess, and the tables are all over the place. I understand this location may get more customers cause of the theater across the street. But that shouldn't be an excuse. Employees stand around and idle even though there is plenty to do. Over priced for burger and fries it average taste kinda of like jack in the box. You are better off making g the drive to in n out.
