Im hoping after a few more weeks the burgers/service will be better. my first experience left me with an incorrect AND incomplete order. The burgers were tasty and huge. The double patty and the no cost toppings made this burger literally over the top. I love the included toppings of mushrooms, grilled onion, jalapenos, green peppers, etc. The hot dog was very ho-hum and nothing exciting. Oh Five Guys, you've left another customer unsatisfied. First of all this place is a mad house!! It was BUSY! Luckily we placed our order quickly and i grabbed a table the moment i saw one open. For my first Five Guys experience, i decided to get a simple cheeseburger with tomato and lettuce. I took my first bite and couldn't help but say... that's it? Maybe I'm missing something? Bun was too thin, my bottom bun became soggy and broke. Meat, juicy but the seasoning of the meat was missing an important something. I feel like I've had a better burger at home them here. The burgers are amazing. I would go here over In'n'Out every time. The only sad part is that you have to get out of your car. OK, maybe that's a good thing. I would ask for fries with no salt next time - they are like little brown salt licks. We came here as a group of about 20 and were fearful of how we would figure out which burger belongs to each person. Have no fear - they number the burgers and the receipt. I think the reason that Five Guys doesn't rate higher is because people go there comparing it to In & Out...or expecting something else. If you don't compare the two...because they are very different...I think you will dig their burgers. Also, if you are looking for a change of pace, it's a break away from In & Out. Don't get me wrong, In & Out is awesome and nothing compares, but occasionally I feel like something different and Five Guys fits the bill. I also like their Cajun fries a lot and the portion for a regular size is gargantuan. I really don't see what all the fuss is about this place. The burgers are not very good! First of all the presentation reminds me of something you would buy at the OC Fair. They are super greasy, which is good to a point but they go beyond that point. And they are slapped together and wrapped in foil without any care. They're also pretty darn expensive for what you are getting. First time eating here and I'll definitely be going back. Growing up in socal all my life, I couldn't help but compare it to in-n-out or fatburger. Similar style restaurant and feel to those two. I very much enjoy that they have a huge list of toppings to choose from all included in the price of the burger. I ordered the bacon burger and it was exquisite! Cooked perfectly, juicy, and just the right size. As for the fries, FAR better then in-n-out! I read in the Orange County Register that the Zaggats rating had knocked In-and-Out burger out of the top spot for best burger in the OC. Those are fighting words in some parts of the California and the OC. An East Coast burger joint knocking our beloved California franchise, no way "right?". So off we went to check out this place. There was a line, which I would expect from a new place and also getting the #1 spot for best burger. We ordered everything two burgers with everything on it and the fries and our friend from Maryland was ecstatic, because she grew up with FGB&B. The burgers were very good. It was huge with all the stuff on it. The burgers are better than IN-And-OUT only because you have more choices to put on your burger, i.e. bacon, mushrooms, onions, jalapeños, and other stuff, which is included in the price of the burger, which also makes this burger more expensive than In-and-Out. I would place this right in between IN-and-OUT and Fuddrucker's. More expensive than In-and-Out, but cheaper than Fuddrucker's. In-and-Out definitely has better fries, hands down, the reason I give it a 4. In-and-Out is the only place I like fries, so far. The free peanuts are nice, while you are waiting. If I am in Orange again, I will pick this place to buy a burger, but will go to In-and-Out closer to my house. read more

My friends and I decided to go to this place after we heard the good reviews and how good it was. Setting: The setup is the normal fast food burger place however a little bit higher class than like your Burger King and etc. Pretty packed when we arrived and the place was an open kitchen type setting where you can basically see every move they make while cooking your burger. What Ordered: I ordered a Regular Hamburger (~$4.49) with "everything on it" (ketchup, mayo, mustard, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, pickles, lettuce, tomato) and a side of Regular Fries (Cajun Style, ~$2.49). The total came out to be approximately $8.00 plus. I did not order a drink, however most of my friends did and there orders came to approximately $10.00, the regular drink is roughly ~ $1.49. Food: When I got the burger, it was wrapped in foil. The regular burger surprisingly came with two patties of meat, which i am thinking that this is a "Regular." They do have a such thing as a "little" burger which i would say might have one patty but not to sure as no one ordered the such. The buns were just regular buns (non-toasted) however i believe they are the big over sized buns you find at Carl's Jr when you buy there 99 cents burgers, so its a big bun. The burger was pretty stacked, I could barely fit it in my mouth for one bit. In the end the burger was "OK", meat patties were a bit dry, nothing much special, the taste of pickles and all the meat overpowered the whole burger, for me. One of my friends said that grilled mushrooms were pretty good. The fries were pretty good, they were moist and larger than your in-n-out fries, they were seasoned with Cajun salt. It was served in a small cup however the portion of the fries were just right. Overall: In the end this was a regular burger place for me, nothing much really special, for me i would still prefer in-n-out, because it had a balance of all ingredients, size, taste, and moistness with there spread. It was a good place to try and see how it was however i wouldn't go there all the time, i would say it was "over hyped." Also in the end you would pay less if you were to go to in-n-out. Nevertheless, the really big difference is they do give you two patties on a regular so if your a meat person you might want to go here. Came here for dinner one night with a friend. The line wasn't long, but it was hard finding an open table indoors. I ordered a Little Cheeseburger ketchup, mustard, raw onions, lettuce, and green peppers. We also split an order of the regular french fries. The burger wasn't bad. It's an overpriced burger with bad, dry fries. In addition, if you eat there, you're constantly having their praises shoved in your face with all their signs quoting different reviews. Narcissistic, much? The fries were really horrible, which I hate because fries are one of my favourite things. The burger wasn't anything special--in fact I'd prefer In-n-Out (which I'm not a huge fan or either), and they'd be less expensive too. It was really crowded and the tables were gross--no one came by to clean it off. My husband and I both agreed that we had paid way too much for a mediocre, if not outright bad, meal. Tried 5 Guys for the first time today - It was PACKED, but the line moved quickly and the wait was minimal. I got a bacon cheese burger and fries ... and this is way to much food ... Next time I'll be splitting the fries or skipping them altogether. The burger was awesome, appeared to be hand shaped patties, good flavor, messy but not too messy. I like how you can customize the burger toppings for FREE. The prices are a little high for a burger place (4.99 for a little bacon cheeseburger) but the fact that you have a choice of 8-10 different toppings to put on (including grilled mushrooms) is great. The complimentary peanuts is also a cool feature that this place has. You can crack the shells and throw them on the floor, a little messy but a cool thing to do when dining in and waiting for your meal, or during your meal. The fries were, and always have been in my opinion, the downfall of this place. They are freshly cut and hot, but the taste just doesn't hold up to other places like wendy's or in-and-out (yes i had to compare them). They do have cajun fries which have a very strong taste to them. Some people, like my friends, love the cajun fries, but I can pass. Overall, I still rate this place a 4 for the customization/freshness/customer service and peanuts. I am docking a star because of price and their fries.
