I had a wonderful experience here at MR. Hot Bunz. The food is just super good and very well-made. The service is very time efficient and also very friendly. The ambiance is super cool and also pretty calm in some way. 5 stars. read more

I hired Chris and his team for my son's first birthday party and had such a great experience. Chris arrived on time and was super professional, and he and his partner set up quickly and got started right away. The food was amazing, and we received so many compliments from our guests. They were also very generous with the amount of food, which we really appreciated. Everything went so smoothly, and overall it was the best experience we could have hoped for. I will definitely be hiring them again! read more

* I used to love Mr. Hot Bunz. I hired them years ago for a friend's baby shower, and they were the talk of the town--literally. Guests raved about them for years. Their bacon-wrapped hot dog and signature piñabero sauce were unforgettable. The meat was tender, juicy, and absolutely delicious. Fast forward to a few years later: I was hosting another baby shower at a venue in Huntington Beach. Even though they didn't have a license to operate in the city--and their pricing was higher--I still really wanted them. I even offered to cover the cost of the business license so they could cater my event. But the day of the event was a total letdown. The staff arrived late and started cooking in foil trays, which immediately raised questions from my guests. I kept trying to hype them up, saying "just wait, this is the best I've ever had!"--but when the food came out, it was disappointing. Tacos and hot dogs were bland, and even the "signature" sauce couldn't save it. Guests were making comments like, "Taco Bell would've been better." To make matters worse, it was so embarrassing that my guests ended up filling up on the pizzas I had ordered for the kids. Since then, I've had friends and family recommend other taco caterers, which kind of stings given how much I once vouched for Mr. Hot Bunz. Really disappointed. I truly hope they can bring back the quality they once had, but I won't be using them again. read more

It may sound presumptuous, but thanks to Chris and the Mr. Hot Bunz crew, I've got a taco guy. I discovered Mr. Hot Bunz years ago when we were looking for someone to do Sonoran-style bacon-wrapped hot dogs for my son's birthday party in a local park and that initial experience was amazing. Since then I've had Chris and the Hot Bunz crew come out to my office to feed my colleagues street tacos and bacon-wrapped hot dogs to celebrate my 5-year and 10-year work anniversaries. I've referred numerous friends and colleagues to Chris whenever the need for a taco guy comes up. Chris is extremely easy to work with- I just tell him how many people I want to feed and what kind of items, meats, and sides I'd like and he texts back some pricing options. On the day of the event everything is taken care of. The Hot Bunz crew arrives with all the equipment, food, condiments, serving ware, and fixtures needed to feed large amounts of people- allowing me to relax and enjoy the food and festivities. If you're looking for a taco guy, Chris and the Mr. Hot Bunz crew is the guy you need. read more

Hired Chris for our wedding and the service was great. Cody came out on time and served bacon wrapped hotdogs and tacos. Lots of condiments/toppings provided. Everything tasted great and was nice to have after all the drinking during our wedding. Would highly recommend them for your event. Prices were very reasonable too. read more

I am a realtor and have used him and his services a couple times for open house events or other events and also referred him to friends who have used him. His food is excellent (all of his different menus - ask him what else he does). And he is so professional! We will definitely be using him again! read more

Chris and his team were absolutely amazing last night at an open house we attended. Their service, speed, consistency and presentation were perfect for both adults and kids. The burgers they had on the grill along with the grilled onions and all of the toppings just put it over the edge!!! I can't say enough great things about the overall experience. We can't wait to have them again at another party! Great work! read more

Chris was extremely professional! Had great communication. He text me a few days before to confirm, and the day of. It was very reassuring as I had bad experiences with caters no showing up or showing up late. Chris was on time, set up and hour before, was kind to all of my guests and is bilingual! Food was amazing. Received so many compliments. He was reasonably priced. Will definitely hire him again for any events! read more

Letting someone else cook for a special event is nerve racking. Will they be on time? Will it be tasty? Will the staff be able to cook and attend to guests? YES! YES! YES! Chris helped us choose the menu - have the hot dogs wrapped in bacon plus the tacos- and Cody cooked and served it up. It was wonderful to sit back and ENJOY our party while Mr. Hot Bunz did the work. We will use them again! read more

We were very fortunate to have Mr. Hot Bunz cater for our baby shower at the park. Chris was very responsive, thorough, and accommodating. The team for the day (Paul and Jim) came early to scope out the venue and set up. They were friendly, professional, and amazing grillers! Everyone loved the food! They packaged the leftover food for us well so that no food went to waste. We highly recommend their services and we will definitely hire them again for our future events! read more

Soooo bad!!!!! I'm so pissed for spending this amount of money on hot dogs I could've made myself. Bacon wrapped hot dogs thinking it was TJ styles strips of onions jalapeños ... NOTHING LIKE THAT!!! the guy was super sweet cooking but the quality is just AWFUL!! From the pictures I saw on his Yelp page are not even compared. It wasn't even Chris who came out to cook. Freaking horrible and embarrassing to the people eating it!! DO NOT ORDER FROM HIM AT ALL!!! Supposedly Chris was busy and somewhere across town.. BULLSHIT! His phone went straight to call forwarding the day of my event. The setup was not like in his pictures at all. Oh yea and he spilled a huge thing of grease on my driveway while cooking. read more

Best Taco Guy! They have reasonable prices for a large amount of food. So many options and they are very responsive. Chris helped setup the date and details, while Cody came exactly on time and served for my daughter's party. He made sure everything was clean and every guest was happy. Bacon-wrapped hot dogs? Oh, yeah! Slap some onions and peppers on those bad boys and you've got a meal, even when you're sober. Please don't put ketchup on them. Haven't you seen Sudden Impact? Dirty Harry is not even from Chicago, and he knows that "nobody, I mean nobody puts ketchup on a hot dog." Mr. Hot Bunz has grilled jalapenos for the dogs too, if you dare. I dared. Pretty hot. Now, vegetarians: he has soy chorizo for you. They aren't in link form; rather, they're crumbled onto the bun. Try it (and review it on Yelp). Why didn't I try the pineabero sauce? Damn! Well, there's always next time. read more

Christian hooked me up big time for my 50th BDay Party in August. This month, we were having our annual holiday luncheon at my company. I was asked to look for a caterer who can handle 125 people. I tried calling the In N Out Burger wagon but they were close to $11 per person. I also wanted to avoid the traditional trough food we normally get from the local Italian or Mexican joints. Mr. Hot Bunz was cheap, efficient and very tasty. The employees were raving about the tacos, salsas and bacon wrapped dogs. Just delicious. Great service, too. And lots of leftovers...... read more

Let me start by saying, I used Chris for my cheer banquet a few months back and the food was great and the service was excellent. BUT, and this is a big but, I had planned to use him again, paid a deposit, confirmed 40 hours before, AND THEN THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP OR EVEN CALL ME. I literally had 60 people at a birthday party with ZERO food! I called, emailed and text Chris like 5 times and he FINALLY responded with a text saying they weren't coming. Just like that. He said he had an emergency and had to leave the country and that his back up guy couldn't do it either. But again, NO CALL OR TEXT OR EMAIL! We ended up ordering pizza but I was SUPER disappointed. He did refund my deposit that day, but I had to scramble to feed my crowd. read more

Who hasn't had a bacon wrapped hot dog? Usually after a late night, concert, or sporting event. This guy started doing local night spots around Tin Lizzie and Proof. Then made some business cards and started "catering" So I Booked him for a birthday party and was blown away. He offerred all kinds of mexican food but I stuck with what I knew. The bacon wrapped hot dogs were so freaking tasty sober and after about a keg of beer. Bacon wrapped around the dog was excellent with some toasted buns. He had something to add some heat to it too. Some super hot jalapenos' or some other "secret" sauce. He called it something but forgot. It was sweet and spicy. Kids loved them and grown ups loved them. I'd book again. read more

Mr Hot Bunz - Caterers Near Me

Chris was excellent to work with, and food was delicious! Much more responsive and friendlier than the rest.

Starting off, the contact Chris is very nice and super fast and efficient with quotes and text. Loved that! The day of the event the cook that stayed for our event was 25 minutes late then that pushed back serving 20 later than we had agreed upon. At that point, I was still not too worried because I thought the food would make up for it. We ordered the #4 combo ( 3 tacos and 1 corn ). We were getting mixed feed back, but most people said it was "not that good" so that was disappointing. The guy that cooked for us was cool and so we still tipped him, but I'm not sure I would use this company again. Maybe they're known for street dogs and not tacos? No idea, here's my review for you to decide if they're right for you. read more

Well it's unfortunate that it had to come to a yelp review, totally could've been avoided. Let's start here, I hired Mr Hit Bunz from a referral and the food was great along with the cooks/servers. Only forgot to bring the only thing I requested , pineapple relish. So I rolled along with it. The day after I noticed the greasy mess the grill left. I was a little upset since I really take care of my hardscape, as a matter of fact I just had it cleaned the day before, and as a monthly service. Well here's where the the deal went bad. I contacted the owner and let him know what had happened. He did offer to come out and have his guys apply some degreased to the areas, I actually declined and was going to do it myself. Well I was unable to get it out. So I texted the owner what the situation is now. No call back. Texted again, still no call back. Well I'm not one to chase someone around for something like this. I just never use the business again. In which is where I'm at right now. It's all about how you take care of the customer after he fact, because people make mistakes. It's how you deal with the mistake is how real customer service plays out. In this case the customer service is poor. I will not recommend this business. read more

We were very pleased with our services. They provided the best pricing and Chris was responsive and professional when I texted him questions. Up until the day of our wedding, my husband & I were impressed with Christian's reviews on Yelp, his prompt communication, and the food we had at our taste test. Our German Feast consisted of 3 types of sausages, beer-buttered onions, hoagie rolls, German potato salad, blaukraut, and appetizers for cocktail hour. He went above & beyond to get us great sausages & his cooking is great! For our large wedding, he informed us he'd have a second grill & an assistant to speed up the process when cooking our food so guests won't be waiting long to get their food with our buffet-style dinner. We were glad Chris was going to make sure that didn't happen & it was one less thing we had to worry about. Unfortunately, we were let down on our special day. We needed Chris to be at our venue at 3:30pm to set up appetizers for cocktail hour at 4pm. He notifies our coordinator less than an hour before he's scheduled to arrive that his car battery died & is trying to get a battery. Mind you, our venue is in Pala & he was STILL in Santa Ana. He promises to arrive by 4-4:30pm. This gave us relief that he'd still be able to supply appetizers for at least half of the cocktail hour & guests wouldn't starve by the time dinner started. We had our grand entrance at 5:00pm, first dance, speeches & toasts, and scheduled to begin dinner at 5:30pm. Until Chris finally arrived at 6:00pm, guests were sitting around waiting to begin eating. How uncomfortable for our guests to sit around without anything going on, but more embarrassing for us trying to smile like everything was ok! Chris arrives with appetizers meant for our cocktail hour & BEGINS to cook dinner by himself with one grill. This slowed down the process of getting the food cooked quickly causing our guests to continue to wait. Weren't we trying to avoid this? Thankfully appetizers were served but were soon devoured from guests waiting so long. My mother asked him where the second grill & assistant were & he said "They are at other events..." He completely disregards the care for us not to worry about making our guests wait for their dinner. We counted on him to make these arrangements & he didn't come through for us. Our coordinator informed us why arrived later than 4:30pm as promised was because he passed our venue & couldn't find it-our coordinator had to redirect him to our venue. Around 6:30pm he had some sausages cooked already so my husband & I were finally able to get our meal. Everything looked great & we were starving, as with all of our guests. We got sausages & beer-buttered onions, asked Chris to save us some food so we can enjoy the great food after the wedding & started walking away...until we noticed he only had hoagie rolls, beer-buttered onions, and sausages. We confronted Chris about the side dishes-no potato salad or blaukraut. Our wonderful German Feast turned into just sausages on buns with onions. So disappointing! He explained to us that they discovered that morning that the blaukraut went "rancid" overnight because they left it out & forgot to put it in the fridge & the potato salad fell out of his trunk while getting jumper cables for his dead battery. We understand that things come up, but if Chris notified us of what happened with the food when it happened, we would've had a few hours to make arrangements to go to a store & buy other side dishes to make up for the food loss. But what bothered us the most is that he didn't bring any of this up until we asked. If we didn't ask, would he have still notified us? I can't say for sure. He was in contact with our coordinator & not once did he express the issues regarding our food or let us know that it would just be him cooking for over 120 people. If you say you are able to do events by yourself for large parties, it should have been executed without any hitches, but it resulted in multiple hitches. Lack in communication makes or breaks who you are & what you represent. As a result, we were refunded a measly $130, which doesn't suffice for: being extremely late (3 hours), causing everyone to wait to begin eating, showing up & not initiating communication regarding the food, stressing out on our wedding day to make sure there will be enough food for our guests, feeling embarrassed that dinner didn't go smoothly, specifically asking to save US food yet giving it to other people and leaving us with none, and not being able to get that moment back from our wedding. It's very unfortunate to have this happen at our wedding, but unfortunate to happen at any event. As I conclude this review, here's what I'd recommend: Make sure you have reliable transportation, know exactly where you are going for your event-if you don't, give yourself enough time JUST IN CASE-it's better to be early than late, and just communicate! Tell the people who are paying you for your service AS SOON AS POSSIBLE with any changes or updates. Don't wait until they ask you. Overall, the food was great, of what was actually there. read more

Mr. hot bunz was booked for our event tonight October 19, 2018. It was for the Anaheim Hills elementary Halloween festival at the school. Mr. hot buns flaked out and canceled at the last minute no doubt to pick up a better deal someplace else. Mr. hot buns is unreliable and trustworthy and a sham. He made up some story about injuring his foot. However his peers who shall remain nameless confirmed that he got a better deal someplace else. Very unprofessional very untrustworthy. I'm sure the food is pretty tasty but when you're talking about a commitment you keep your commitments. Especially when It has to do with kids. For shame Mr. hot bunz for shame. read more

I hate when I have to pay a cater and the food is not up to my expectations even worse the guest say, that they have a better taco guy. :/ When I came up for a taco after most of my guest were served, I noticed how un appealing the meat looked. They didn't even bring the right meat!?! I also wanted quesadillas for the kids. No quesadillas were served I was wondering what that tray of cheese was for??? The meat was pre cooked and was just sitting there. It was a sloppy mess. The dogs were served on a cold bun. Based on reviews this was one of the reasons that I decided to go with this caterer. Got a call back from the owner, only an apology no discount nothing. For the amount I was charged I was definitely expecting a lot better. Live and learn I guess! read more

Just had Mr. Hot Bunz' catering at our work place. One word: BOMBASTIC It's not your average burger and hot-dog catering. He actually had bomb brioche bread and the quality of the meats was amazing. He also had bacon-wrapped hotdogs with a pinabero sauce, which is spicy and sweet (amazement). The guy that was doing our catering was really cool too. I think he's the owner.
