Did anyone ever ask the question, why did they name this place "Five Guys?" I mean it's a fair question. Is it owned by 5 guys? Or does it take 5 guys to create their perfect burger. I've been to this location awhile back before I Yelped, so I needed to try it again to remember the taste of their burgers. When I arrived I noticed the new sign above the building, it looks great! Going in to the place I also noticed the upgrades! Nice clean facilities accompanied by new digital soda machines made this a enjoyable visit. But there is still one burning question on my mind........how is the food? Going to the register to finally answer that question I was stopped again! It was one of my old friends behind the counter, Tommy! We talked awhile and caught up on old times. It was cool to know someone that was preparing my meal. So finally it was time, just me and my double cheeseburger (did I ever mention I love CHEESE). Wow! The burger was great, thick and juicy with the right amount of flavor. A crowed of customers couldn't be wrong so I moved on to the fries. There lies the problem. They were too oily and not much flavor. However the burger was enough to get me back in there from time to time. If your a fry fan check out Checkers, but if your a man......or woman....that likes meat! I love a good smashed style burger and that's what they serve here. Stick to the classic cheese-burger and a side of original fries and you will never be disappointed. I love the fact that they use excellent ingredients. 100% fresh never frozen beef, peanut oil to deep fry the fries.....you wont find any weird food science going on here. I stop by the Hicksville Five Guys about once a month to chow down on their burgers and homemade fries. Service: fast and friendly. Burgers: Good but not great - the free toppings are just the icing on the cake. Fries: Very good, bordering on great. The "small" fries are more than enough for one person. Drinks: Large choice of sodas with free refills. Price: A little steep, IMO. A single burger (no cheese/bacon), small fries & soda came to $10.40 with tax. After leaving the Hicksville station, I had a craving for fries. I remember reading on Yelp that Five Guys freshly cut their potatoes. I decided to give it a try. Not to crazy about it being fried in peanut oil, but I was happy for a "veggie" option Lol. Anyway, i was PLEASED! I am a french fry freak, so worth the cheating! I bought only a small, but it seemed like a large! I ate a few & saved the rest for dinner with my vegan chili. So happy! I'm a great fan of good burgers. I'm also happy for any restaurant that would open so close by (I live in Hicksville). The burgers here are very good if not great. They are fresh, grilled well, of good size for a hungry belly, and come with a variety of free sauce choices. As others have pointed out, this is not health food and you won't find a salad bar here. In fact, the only healthy thing I saw here were boxes and boxes of peanuts you can grab a handful of. (people with peanut allergies...stay far away from this place). As much as I like their burgers, I found them to be nothing special. Just a good old fashioned burger you might get at a summer picnic. Ironically, I've also eaten the burgers next door at the Broadway Diner and found them to be equally good. Both are similar size, ooze juices, and come with excellent fries, but add the flexibility of a hundred other items for those not wanting to chow down a burger with you. I also prefer being waited on, getting free bread, coleslaw, etc. Five guys is best when you're doing a take-out and everyone's on board for dripping fatburgers. Seriously this food would kill you, but you could get your face bitten off by a guy high on bath salts so weighing all options this is a better way to go. The best way to order if busy (which it usually is) is to use your smartphone to order on their app and boycott the line and just pickup your food. They don't ask for your credit card when you go, so maybe a hacker could get some free meals. The hotdogs stink they cut them down the middle the long way and put on a bun and all I tasted was bread. Been coming here for awhile, never had a problem until now. It's a crazy time right now as a result of the pandemic, but food places should be extra careful during this time. First of all the crew looks new, no offense but they look like a bunch of young hipster kids, anyway this shouldn't matter but maybe because they're young they aren't aware of their actions. My fiancé and I placed an order for food and parked right in front where we could see all the employees. First off all not one person was wearing a mask, I hope this is because temperatures are being taken before everyone's shift. But the woman working at the counter and her two friends behind heckled my friend, laughing at her, pointing, rolling their eyes. I was there yesterday. All the employees are really nice and very accomodating. The place is clean. There was a small error in our order that they fixed immediately by making a fresh burger and not just slapping a slice of cheese on the previous one. Its a Five Guys, how could you not love it? This is probably the closest five guys to my house, so when I am craving it I usually come here. I usually call in my orders and they are always ready on time and how I asked for them, I don't think I've ever had an order made incorrectly at Five Guys. I also frequently ask for my fries well done, which they do without question. Whether its a burger, hot dog, or fries you want I would totally recommend trying out five guys. read more

I come here about once a week and the burger I get is always on point. I agree about the fries being too salty though. I only get their Cajun fries and it is very salty but still good enough to satisfy my taste buds. And the shakes are pretty good too.... it's just that their straws are too small for me to enjoy the shake without trying too hard to get stuff out of it read more

Coming here today made me really happy. I was having a rough day of parenting and just feeling blah. I walked in the store and immediately felt good vibes. There was good music playing, and the staff looked like they really liked working together and were having fun. The cashier was so polite and nice. There was also a young woman working there who was also extremely pleasant. She put the bbq sauce on my burger with such care and said, "Have a lovely day." Soda selection great. Fries, fresh cut cooked in peanut oil, great. But, I come here for a burger and the bottom line is they're just ok. I don't know why I keep coming back with friends (peer pressure) and overpaying for such an average burger. The quality of the meat is good, but flattened and always cooked well-done just takes the flavor out of the meat. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. The bacon was very well done and salty to match the burger. I just can't get over thinking that people are buying into the hype. I mean, my goodness, my burger was $8. I really think it boils down to taste. I personally prefer a thicker burger that's more juicy and has a great flavor. Do this taste test...buy a Wendy's Double Cheese and a Five Guys Cheeseburger. Eat them with the exact same toppings of course. See what you think. I think you'll be surprised. Since Wendy's experienced their corporate makeover a few years back their food has improved significantly. I don't even order burgers from BK or McD's anymore. The only caveat to this is that sometimes you'll find a lesser Wendy's location that isn't on top of their freshness as they should be, but even with those occasional hiccups I can taste the quality of their flavor. I recommend the Cajun Fries to everyone!! This is not a complaint but they give you soooo much it's crazy! You'll be eating fries for days if you get a large order (or regular). Had the food here. Didn't live up to the hype but I'm used to In N Out in Cali. Tasted decent but was greasy. Following morning when waiting for my flight back out to the Best Coast I felt sudden discomfort in my stomach, the kind where you know you have about 5 secs to get to the nearest toilet. Eating lunch at five guys is like going to visit an old college buddy you haven't seen in ages. Or to me, a comet that's only visible once every couple of years. We all remember when Obama ate there back in 2009 and instantly the place got hot for awhile then it cooled down and other places came along like Smashburger and Shake Shack. Well, I haven't been inside a Five Guys since the Obama visit, so it seemed the right time to revisit a burger stand I frankly wasn't all that impressed with back then. I visited Hicksville but I'm pretty sure they are all pretty similar. The burger itself was very good, as were the fries. Place looked a little dirty and could use a good cleaning. Anyway, because I only visit once every four or five years for obvious health reasons, I go all-in which means a double bacon cheeseburger with the works (basically all toppings).
