I first came to Gyro Spot around 5ish years ago because a friend introduced me. Seemed like this was one of the few places at the time where you could get a lamb and rice platter rather than having to trek out to the city. I came here recently again and I'm happy to say that I feel it still has the best lamb and rice platters in the area. I got the combo platter ($7). What's nice about this platter is that everything tastes a bit more real than typical lamb and rice platters. The meat they use is pretty solid in my opinion and has a decent flavor. I like the rice they use as well; it's on point. Viewed in its totality, the platter is unique in that it is not as greasy and messy as other platters. Other platters tend to get clumped up and greasy but this one is better on that front. So I have to say this one is pretty tasty. It is $1 more expensive than the halal place down the road at Delco Plaza and the Hazma and Medina Cart in the area. But I feel it is worth it. You can eat in here as well because they have a few tables. Not the nicest or most clean place, but gets the job done. read more

I came here for iftar and expected much better food. i was originally going to eat at another place but someone told me to come here, which i regret. firstoff the fries were full of too much masala that it burned my throat and made my mouth burn. the chicken tikka and seekh kabab portions were so small, i paid for food that should have tatsed good. the taste of the zinger and the sauces were off as well. and to top it all off i was served a RAW burger, raw!!! i could have gotten seriously sick if i had eaten that, good thing i was able to catch it! If i did a blind taste, I would have thought this was cart food. They ran out of their Tandoori Chicken, so I had the regular Chicken over Rice. Normally, chicken and rice from a Mediterranean/Halal Restaurant COMPARED to a cart has an authentic, homemade flavor. Gyro Spot's CNR - Flavor was a bit bland, thought it needed more salt. The white sauce was slimy, overly mayonnaise-y, and as usual an iota of that red sauce will set your mouth burning. Next time, I really hope they have that tandoori chicken (heard great things). Inside ventilation is poor. If you plan on eating here, know your clothes will be profumed with kebab smoke. Wear a smock like the kids do when they paint. read more

I stopped by around 10pm on a rainy night. Was glad this place has seating areas to get out of the rain while enjoying some delicious lamb over rice :) Overall I think its a decent Halal place especially they close bit later than other dining establishments around the area. Food-wise though maybe I'm just too used to the street carts in NYC and JC but honestly Gyro Spot's food is comparably bland in my opinion. While the lamb meat was done quite well and portions I have to say pretty sufficient, the rice felt like boring old cooked rice compare to some of the chicken over rice carts I've eaten. However they did get the white and hot sauce pretty close but honestly I was never a fan of drenching the food in the white sauce. Price-wise its probably about what you pay for in the city as well maybe $1 more depends on the cart. But for the area though its a pretty good price. For a late dinner they get the job done. I should've asked for chicken & lamb combo with some cut-up grilled pita breads, that was always my go-to secret menu combo at the street carts when they do it right. read more

They cheat with prices in the restaurant. Ask prices beforehand AND ask for a itemized receipt. Otherwise the bald guy with a kufi hat who works night will add extra 10-12 dollars. He'll play dumb because he tried cheating a customer in front of us trying to charge him 7 extra dollars when he confronted him he said ooooo yea sorry, than Right after he pulled the same thing on me charged us 12 bucks extra by manually entering the price in the POS system and than raised the price and said it's the tax, when I asked for a receipt the guy played dumb and walked away. There was a time when craving some good mixed lamb-chicken gyro required one to trek to the city, then slowly carts that were legitimate contenders started to prop on corners from the city to long island and made the journey less of a hassle. Then the next factor was weather permitting lol, but this gyro spot has entirely changed the element by opening up a hole in the wall joint that will not only fill your cravings for a gyro, but takes it a step further offering burgers, cheesesteaks and a whole lot more... The gyro plates are similar to their counterpart street option along with the crack addicting hot and white sauce. the jalapeño chicken burger was juicy, flavorful and a good choice to check out. The kati roll was mediocre as it was plain and sauceless. I definitely recommend this place for some great service, friendly staff, damn good gyros and burgers...! ps. pretty darn good Falooda to if you ask me...! I really dislike their chicken over rice here--it lacks flavor and I could not bring myself to have another bite of it...that's how bad it was. It is truly bland. But they do have good, cheap halal burgers which is the only reason this is getting 2 stars. I have had their chicken burgers and cheesesteak which were both decent. They have samosa chaat sometimes which is also pretty good. I think the masala fries at BBQ Nite which is next door are more flavorful than the ones served here. Worst gyro I've ever had in my entire life.... On top of messing my order up it was just overall bad the fries that came with my gyro where old and hard as a rock. Hit the "spot" at this cute little lunch place. The decor is pretty plain, but the food was fresh and prepared quickly. A big plus is that it is a Halal establishment , which essentially means they follow Islamic law with regard to food and its preparation. Gyro Spot's Menu is basic and somewhat limited. If you want a tasty Lamb Gyro or Kabob on the go and your in the Hicksville or Bethpage area its worth stopping in. I love some good halal food, but these days if I have to go to the halal guys in the city all the time, I would most likely be broke. My boyfriend told me about this place and I was hoping it would be good. Okay, the place is sketchy looking, but then again, if anybody is comparing to the Halal Guys in NYC, they're bringing their meats out of a van and then cook in their food carts...that sounds a bit sketchy too. This was the first place "near" me that I decided to try that served halal, I put quotations on near because it's 27 minutes away from where I live. That's no issue though because this place has me coming back about once every 2 weeks. I've been to about 4 halal spots combined and NONE of them compare to this one. Very affordable, a pretty extensive menu, and the food is never disappointing. My go tos are the mix over rice (or just lettuce) the Lamb Kati roll, the 6 pc. Hot wings, and even a couple pieces of naan. And one thing this place has that others I've been to don't is that they give you bottles of white sauce, hot sauce, and even bbq sauce (you have to ask for the bbq) instead of those mini cups, only when you eat in. The only negative is the $10 minimum on cards cause I don't carry cash, it's understandable though. Had the crunchy chicken zinger burger, cheese burger and masala fries.. All were good. I personally loved the chicken burger.. I think it's better then all the other ones I've had in NY from more popular locations. I'm surprised I havent heard about their zinger before. Other places (especially halal ones) often have burgers and sandwiches be a little bland, dry or not complimenting condiments but this place was just on point. Well seasoned, the "masala" was just a nice blend of some seasonings. Gyro spot made their food juicy and has good sauces vs how some competitors are dry and add ketchup (eww) I feel like as an adult ketchup and the main condiment on a chicken sandwich especially a zinger burger mis all wrong.
