Solid burger! A little too talked-up beforehand and didn't quite live up, but still a really solid, simple cheeseburger. Didn't feel as greasy or heavy as most, though still a burger. Adorable '90s decor inside, lots of picnic tables for outdoor seating. Great onion rings

Of course I had to go back to were it all began. Oyster Bay. There's not really parking out front. But there is parking around if you know how to find it. Check behind the stores in the area. The outside of the business feels like home. White picket fence and classic windows. It makes the place feel personal. The tables are nice as well if you want to dine outside. Inside, the place is nice, but lacks character. It felt cold inside. At the counter they took my order then took my name. I always find it disappointing when they sell the fries separately from the burger. But you can't eat a burger without fries , so I ordered them. They can bring it to you, or you can grab it. I didn't feel like being waited on, so I grabbed my food. I am glad to report that the burger was really good. I was surprised how much I liked the bun. The sesame on top gave it an added touch. I definitely enjoyed it. Nothing stood out about the fries.they seemed very generic. But they were good. I would definitely go back. I mean, I have to support local business when possible. Also, I have to support their burgers. I canny let one patty goto waste.

Great find, burgers were outstanding! Can easily say one of the best I've ever had. Place is interesting, nice outside seating area, inside not much to talk about. Order at the window, food handed to you in a to go bag. Staff could not be nicer. Place was packed with customers. Beef tallo fries! All .

Sorry excuse for a grilled chicken sandwich ... for $15!!!!!!!

Wow. I expected more considering the renowned Jesse Schenker owns this place. When this restaurant first opened the food quality, service, options, and quantity were all larger and better. Years later, it's embarrassing. Take a look at my photo. $15 for a PLAIN piece of grilled chicken on a bun, the size of a kid's meal? Absolutely ridiculous. Same goes for the cheeseburger. 25 to 50 cents PER VEGETABLE to add? Highway robbery. You'd find this food at a 5 year old's birthday party. Complete and utter rip-off.

A real burger! My family and I stopped in on a random Tuesday and we're still talking about the burger days later. I'll admit that I didn't expect much, but to my surprise, this was the best burger I've had in a long time! Upon walking in you're greeted with a vintage feel, simple burger shop. It's decorated with vintage movie posters and Coca Cola, giving it a chill vibe. There's games to play while you wait which I thought was a nice touch. The staff is great and really made us feel welcome, cared for and seen. Thank you for a great experience, we'll be back soon!

This spot is a homerun if you want a quick and easy burger and fries to take down before going about your business. Reminding me of yesteryear vibes with the classic film posters on the wall, the counter service with a smile, the decently priced burgers and delicious fries in a bag. The burger I got was so delicious, top notch beef, fresh lettuce, fluffy SESAME SEED Bun, all of these were a hit and I keep thinking about this burger. The fries were crisp, flavorful, perfectly well done, and some left over in the bag which make them extra good. My gf got the Chicken Sandwich, also very good, crispy, spicy, fresh. This place is awesome, would definetly have a burger here again if in the neighborhood and in the mood.

Blown away by this little spot!!!! Amazing smash burger (although the patty was still so wonderfully thick and cooked to a perfect medium rare). Extremely flavorful burger, crunchy french fries and enormous onion rings. Prices are really fair based on the quality and size of what you get. They make their own burger buns and everything is so filling. Really nice people which makes this place an even more desirable spot to stop for a bite to eat. They have a few canned beer and wine selections and they also have a keg behind the counter that rotates (on my visit I was offered a $3 draft of Brooklyn Brewing lager). Absolute gem of a burger place in Oyster Bay. Go give them your business! Also- check their social media pages as they have specials throughout the week

Best burger in oyster bay! Fresh ingredients, no seed oils and cool vibe! Delicious and will be returning...again!

We were looking to try a quick good place and came here expecting to find a nice burger joint close to home that was somewhat closer to burgerology. What we found was better!! We all agreed that the Gimme Burger is close to Five Guys style ---(which in our mind a compliment because we like five guys) but less expensive and without the peanuts. Thus -it easily was a five star visit. We came for burgers but also got chicken sandwiches and we were glad we did. The chicken sandwich was freshly fried and juicy. The combination of the homemade bread and lettuce and tomatoes just all came together. The burgers were nice. Not too big like burgerology so you can easily finish them which probably why the price is reasonable. Definitely high quality meat and although we don't recall being asked if we wanted to cooked medium or rare --they came out great. The fries-actually --very McDonald's style and excellent. Who doesn't look fries cookies crisp but golden with a nice salt. Finally -they have shakes. Just the basic chocolate and vanilla or a mix. We tried all three and everyone enjoyed it. This really was a perfect pick for the nights. I would not be surprised to see this store multiply on Long Island or certainly become as famous as "the All American Burger" joint of Oyster Bay. Will return.

We visited this cute burger joint after a nature hike nearby. We all ordered shakes and burgers. Service was friendly and efficient. Burgers were perfect, buns were soft and shakes were delicious. They have board games on the side. Would definitely swing by again!

Love this mom and pop food shop! They have great sandwiches, salads, cookies, smoothies, and soups…read more This is not a typical restaurant like other reviewers have pointed out. There is no free water and one has to make a purchase for a water bottle from the fridge. Inside is cozy with a few small tables and what looks like a recycled pew used as a bench. There's a small "help yourself after paying" hot coffee station. Alongside the counter to the register one can see all of the amazing soups kept warm/hot! The ones that I have tried so far and love are: Hungarian Mushroom, Turkey Chili, Brown Lentil, Chicken Noodle, etc. Someone mentioned that the lobster bisque changed, but I can't eat shellfish so I wouldn't have any opinion there. The bathroom door is opposite the end of the bench and it smells like a bathroom. I have never had such an off putting experience there. It was as expected. A lot of things people don't know is that they can ask or make a suggestion instead of assuming that the bathroom is always nasty. One also doesn't know what the person before them did in there. It's wrong to assume that the staff handling the food would constantly be checking the bathroom. A little ask or suggestion can go a long way. During the weekends, OB events, and summer days the line can go out the door and the wait can be long, but everything is worthwhile as all of the non-soups are made to order! Happy eats !

They have a nice half and half deal with half a wrap/sandwich and a cup of soup. Hubby and dad each got that, one with clam chowder, the other tomato soup. I tried some of both. I don't usually like tomato anything but this soup was GOOD! Especially dipping a piece of bread and eating the soaked piece. The clam chowder was also yummy. I ordered the Waldorf chicken salad wrap which was just the right amount of all flavors and textures. I felt healthy eating it but was also very full after. The interior decor is not fancy but inviting for a local town restaurant. So glad we tried this place!

After 16 years and SEVEN locations across Long Island, Roast Sandwich House has certainly earned…read moreits reputation as a Long Island staple! I finally had the opportunity to visit their ORIGINAL Melville location, and I can confidently say this visit was long overdue! One thing I absolutely LOVE about their concept is the variety. In addition to their regular menu filled with fan favorites, they're constantly introducing weekly and monthly specials, giving customers something new and exciting to look forward to. I started with the Fig & Brie Roast Turkey Panini, and WOW, what a fantastic combination of flavors! The creamy Brie, sweet fig jam, pickled apples, crispy prosciutto, and baby arugula all complemented each other beautifully. Served on perfectly pressed, crispy ciabatta, this was an EXCELLENT fall sandwich! Next was one of their OG classics, the Roast Beef Melt. Now I understand why this sandwich has such a following! Between the roast beef, mozzarella, horseradish sauce, garlic butter, and crispy onions on everything-seasoned ciabatta, it was already delicious on its own. But once you dip it into that side of au jus? OVER THE TOP! I especially loved the everything ciabatta! The Maple Glazed Pork Belly Sandwich was another standout. Crispy pork belly coated in a sweet, sticky glaze, paired with smoked Gouda, caramelized onions, and a Dijon apple-Brussels sprout slaw on a soft toasted potato bun. The balance of flavors and textures was FANTASTIC! Then came their Wagyu Beef Chopped Cheese, and I have to give them credit for their creativity! Taking a classic chopped cheese and incorporating Doritos for an unexpected crunch was such a fun twist. A really great sandwich! Even the sides deserve recognition. Their house-made French fries were excellent, seasoned with cracked black pepper and sea salt, and served with their delicious Roast Fry Sauce. That sauce was BOMB! Finally, the Sweet Chili Crispy Brussels Sprouts absolutely delivered! Tossed with carrots, radish, cilantro, peanuts, and sweet chili sauce, these were loaded with flavor while somehow maintaining their crispiness. Another BANGER! What impressed me most was the thought and creativity that went into the menu. There's a great balance between familiar comfort food and unique combinations that keep things interesting. Nothing felt like it was different just for the sake of being different. The flavors genuinely worked together! Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Roast Sandwich House. It's easy to understand how they've built such a strong following over the years. Whether you're a longtime customer returning for your favorite sandwich or someone visiting for the first time, there's plenty here to get excited about. Sixteen years in business, seven Long Island locations, and a menu that continues to evolve. That's impressive! I'm already looking forward to my next visit to explore even more of the menu. If you haven't experienced Roast Sandwich House yet, I definitely recommend giving them a try!

The vibe inside is super cool, and they have an extensive menu with tons of great options. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap Panini, and it was incredible. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and definitely worth trying if you're in the area. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Serious Food Safety and Communication Concerns…read more Extremely disappointing experience regarding gluten-free food safety. Our waitress, Jean, was informed of a celiac disease diagnosis and initially demonstrated an understanding of cross-contamination. She advised against certain appetizers and recommended substituting filet mignon for the soy-marinated skirt steak in the blackened steak and pasta dish. She confirmed the order was flagged for a gluten allergy and gluten-free pasta was requested. When the meal arrived with rigatoni instead of the usual gluten-free penne, Jean questioned it herself and checked with the kitchen. She returned and confirmed that the pasta was gluten-free. Shortly afterward, Barbara, the front-of-house manager, informed us that the pasta was NOT gluten-free. Jean later explained that the chef, Julio, believed only the steak needed to be gluten-free. This represents a serious breakdown in communication and food safety protocols. Despite clear notification, an allergy flag, and direct confirmation from the kitchen, a gluten-containing meal was served to someone with celiac disease. Management comped the entire check and provided a $100 gift card, which was appreciated. However, compensation does not negate the seriousness of the incident. Celiac disease is a medical condition, not a dietary preference. Restaurants that offer gluten-free accommodations must have reliable procedures in place to ensure customer safety. Unfortunately, this experience raises significant concerns about the restaurant's ability to safely accommodate guests with dietary restrictions.
