After a baseball game on a Sunday morning, we passed by Burger City on the way home and thought we would give it a try. Ambience: no frills burgers to go, very reminiscent of old fashioned roadside burger stands. As one other reviewer pointed out, similar in concept to All American Burger. There is very limited seating as this seems most to go. Food: we ordered Quarter Pounder with Cheese - the name immediately creates a mental comparison to McDonalds. A quarter pound beef patty served on a potato roll, garnished with chopped onions, pickle and ketchup. It was as basic a burger as you could get, but sometimes, less is better. The potato roll was soft and slightly sweet. The beef was tender and moist. 4/5 Onion Rings - battered fried sliced rings off onions, unlike the formed rings of onion paste at some other places.. 4/5 Hot Dog - a thick hot dog minus any toppings. To make it a chili dog, I had to order a side of chill for $1.95. 3/5 TL/DR: a good no frills old fashioned burger joint where they cook the burger right in front of you. read more

LOVED!!!! I loved everything about Burger City! I have to say I passed it countless times and just never thought to eat there until a few weeks ago. I was out with my daughters fiancé and we were deciding on a place to eat for lunch. He picked Burger City and so I'm happy he did! I didn't even realize the place he was thinking of until we pulled up! It's a cute hamburger place and seating had an enclosure so on a really cold day, which it was, eating inside was no problem for us! Ordering was easy and quick. I have to say this is a VERY popular place to eat as literally every 5-10 minutes the door opened with more hungry customers! The burgers were delicious! I mean, I don't usually finish my burger but this was really SO delicious. Made perfectly, the bun was really tasty too! My daughters fiancé is a big guy and ordered two of the Big City burgers which is a double cheeseburger with bacon, onions and ketchup! He said it was one of the best he's had! I love All American in Massapequa but now I have to admit that Burger City I love even more! The fries are seasoned, hot and crispy! One order was big enough for us to share and there was left over! We were too full for anything else but I saw they make milkshakes. I will absolutely be returning here and will be saving room to try one. I will also be trying their onion rings! BC is the popular burger joint on Hempstead Tpk. Lots of others but this one is busiest. Burger City has set up in a white square single user food service retail spot - surrounded by a few nearby strip centers just east of the Meadowbrook Pkwy. Very similar styled store and menu as Massapequa's famous All American. Its easy grab and go limited burger menu is popular. Lots of cars streaming in.. some sitting outside at tables, others at a few inside counters and more to go. The burger was verrry similar to AA with a little more onion, cheese and a non seeded potato bun. Good but maybe a smidge smaller. Only small or large drinks - so Large because the small is super tiny. Fries look great - very crispy - One size fries are actually large in comparison - and dredged in some type of crispy flour or something. Not bad but would share next time. Flavor more BK than AA. Though - Beat friend felt the fries were best around. Onion rings are the real deal here and worth ordering. beat friend thinks skimpy.. but still shareable. Good afternoon, I have just learned that Shake shack is opening next to Burger City. I will say this on behalf of Burger City. I have tried Shake shack and by no means is their burger better than Burger city. I am not saying this lightly. I am also disappointed that a big chain company would be allowed to build in the same lot as the iconic Burger City that opened in December of 2015. I strongly believe that Burger City will out last the big chain store like Shake shack. Love Burger City. This place is always poppin with customers and with good reason. The burgers here are delicious, simple, and inexpensive. The fries and shakes are not too shabby either. Forget shake shack or any other gourmet burgers. I much prefer a burger from here. There is always a line but it goes very quick. The wait for your food is about 5 minutes. Burger City is very much a well oiled machine. Friendly customer service. There are several bar seats (about 8-10) inside and a few tables outside. Definitely a no frills kind of place. I don't get the bacon on it, but that's just a personal preference. They really have a knack here for pleasing the palette without breaking the bank. We drive 35 minutes out of the way for this goodness. Prices are old school for great burgers, shakes, onion rings, knishes (yes, random but so good) and sweet potato tots. We somehow haven't had fries with our burgers yet, so can't comment on the golden delicious sticks at this juncture. Anyways, just drive there. The patties were pretty good but the size of the burgers were underwhelming. The bread was like clay and the American cheese tasted like something you'd find in a school cafeteria. Burger 4/10. Fries were crispy and hot which was good and the dipping sauce (i believe called city sauce) had good flavor tasted like canes sauce a bit. Fries/Sauce 8/10. Chocolate Milkshake was very thick and a bit warm, didn't taste like it was made with any added milk it just tasted like melted chocolate ice cream that turned warm. Milkshake 2/10. Burgers are simple and tasty (pickles, ketchup, onions only, they do not carry lettuce or tomato) the chicken sandwich was crispy and delicious, and the fries were perfection--crispy and salted just right. There's a reason why this place got voted Best Burger for the last 3 years. Right now the shopping center it's in is under construction, but don't let that stop you. It's a tiny place with a window to order, some seats, and a window to pick up. They also have a few tables outside. They have a small menu a la Shake Shack, but much better. We always ask for extra pickles and they do not disappoint. Their fries are perfectly crunchy and the orders are pretty big. Besides ketchup and mustard, they have the most delicious honey mustard perfect for fry dipping or adding to your burger. The staff is always excellent. Best Burger on LI for the past 3 straight years? Count me in. This place was a small stand alone building in the parking lot of a shopping strip. Few seating (mostly outdoors). It was busy on a Thursday night but the workers worked very efficiently. I ordered 3 regular burgers with the fixins. The burgers tasted very fresh (not frozen meat) and reminded me of All-American (similar menu as well). Yes, I ate all 3 burgers- they were quite small. This place is the definition of a dive. There is a long line that moves quick, you put in your order and then move aside. There's some tables and fun spinny chairs inside and outside seating. The burgers are super simple, seasoned with salt and pepper, and grilled on the flat top. They don't use any proprietary meats for the burgers so they're really plain; however, that may be the attraction. Highlighting the flavor of the meat by keeping it so simple is definitely a solid move. We ordered two double boss burgers, they were so packed and heavy with sauce and toppings. A really great first bite and you can feel your arteries clogging but it's all good because flavor is everything. The cheese burger was perfectly cooked with nice melty cheese. They have a variety of sauces that are all surprisingly good with the fries. Speaking of fries, don't skimp on the fries. They are some of the best fries I've ever had in my life. They are perfectly crispy, thicker and larger than those other "favorite"fries . For those not into russet potatoes, they have sweet potato tater tots that were very crispy and delicious. Over all, good quality of food, ambiance was perfect for our fireworks display. I would for sure come back again. Between ordering the food and taking my first bite, about 7 minutes, I don't know about you, but that was impressively fast and there was a line out the door. Ambiance is a small building with amazing people inside it from the staff to the customers. It's always packed and orders fly out the door quicker than mass transit users on the NYC rails. The service is always solid, the food is perfect every time and it's clear why the location and food is loved by so many. The burgers are cooked well, full of flavor and juicy. The onion rings are the best in the area, only Wayback can go toe to toe with them. Crazy to see Shake Shack moving in next door, but not worried for Burger City the food is a zillion times better than the shack franchise and they will probably send the shack packing. Wow! It was our 1st time here and one of our most memorable foodie experiences ever. We ordered a boss burger (single), 3 orders of chicken nuggets ( 9 chicken nuggets/order), a cheeseburger, 2 orders of fries, onion rings, 3 hot dogs, a large root beer, a chocolate shake, a stawberry shake. This tiny "fast-food" place is situated in the middle of a parking lot but was definitely occupied with plenty of people also there to experience the hype. We ordered a bit of everything, and had to try the burger! Food was piping hot, and had plenty of fresh toppings but the burger itself was small and thin, leaving more to be desired. Best thing we ordered were the hot, hot fries and the Texas toast grilled cheese. Would recommend! I'd say it's worth the trip to say you've been there and tried it.
