I went here yesterday and it was my first time trying 5 guys and I had a very positive experience. My bacon cheeseburger was one of the best I've had in recent memory and the cajun fries paired perfectly with it. I wasn't able to get a milkshake unfortunately but I'm sure those are good too. Food gets 5 stars. The service was great too, the girl behind the counter taking my order was very nice. The other employees also sprinkled cajun on my fries last minute because I forgot to order cajun fries to begin with. Everything was clean and there were no organisms growing on the tables. The bulletin board was a fun addition to the resturant and I made the Roys Bedoys drawing and that is supposed to be a hand thumbing-up but I can't draw. This is a very large retail space with few customers. Prices keep rising. Two women paid over $20 for two plain hot dogs and two sodas. No sauerkraut or nice toppings. I paid $26 for two burgers and a medium order of fries. There was only one small, (priced medium) paper cup of fries and a measured square tin for the extra fries they put in the bag, sat next to it... both sitting a good while under a light. No other fries there or being cooked. But a chalk board naming the town the made potatoes were from. Not to quibble over prices, but didn't see the value here in terms of being good. Buns small and plain, sliding off burger with lettuce etc.. Too greasy meaning high fat content. This is a tough one.... my thoughts are they need to take a smaller, better spot and give a better value for the basic food that it is. read more

There isn't anything different, which leads me to believe the employees there are doing what they are supposed to to keep the franchise thriving. So many people rave about this burger chain. And I respect their popularity. However, the greasy product just isn't my favorite way to eat. Their fries literally always soak the bag with grease. And during this particular trip they were soggy as well as greasy, which is an absolute sin in this day and age. Burgers leave your hands as well as your placemat and mouth filled with juiciness/grease. On the plus side, the service is excellent and the way they deliver the food works for me. It was delicious! The burger and fries that I got were SO good! The woman who took my order also was very nice. The only thing that was ridiculous about it was the price of the meal. In all, the meal came out to about $17.00. Now, I would understand if that was the price with a drink, because Smash Burger is about the same price. But here's the thing, this was the total cost without a soda! That's a ripoff! That's the only thing that I didn't like about the place. So, when my kids thought that Wendy's was God's of the Hamburger, their discovery of a Five Guys Hamburger put Wendy's into 2nd Place, which was a miracle in itself!! I thought their Hamburgers were actually very tasty and the selection of toppings does make it all the more appealing. The difference with my family is that we are very "simple" people, my kids eat theirs with ketchup only and me with an onion added, maybe. I kind of felt as though we were doing Five Guys an injustice by passing on all those great toppings. The guy taking my order just looked at me like "what???" He was probably thinking to himself "why doesn't she just go to the Wendy's down the road, she could save herself 3 bucks a Hamburger!!" The quality is way up there for a Hamburger and it's a nice touch seeing them throw in all those extra fries in your bag. You really feel as though you're getting a lot more for your money. I have to add that being able to see the staff preparing all the food is quite interesting to watch. All the chaos taking place actually makes me grateful to have my little "desk" job, but it all is very organized. The big boxes of shelled peanuts they have you dig into still doesn't make sense to me, they don't exactly go with meat. But, who's to argue. Another nice touch because we all love peanuts. I didn't realize there were so many other Five Guys chains, I never really heard of them until they opened in Levittown. I have no bad things to say about five guys and this place is no different! The staff is nice and get the food out as quickly as they can. I usually get the cheeseburger (it's 2 patties unless you get the little burger) with lettuce, tomato, mayo, ketchup and mushrooms and they have always gotten my order correct. The burger and fries are always good - never frozen meat and fresh potatoes are always a good thing :) I usually get this when we visit our friend in LI. I like this location, never too busy and always quick. The employees are nice. The burgers taste good and the fries are great, especially the quantities they give you. My only problem with this place is the price. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, small fry and a regular drink and it came out to $17.45 I think. Over a six-month period, I would go here maybe twice a month, and each time the price was higher than it was before. It went from barely over $16-$17.45. And since all of these locations are owned by the same family, how are the price is different from store to store? The same order I ordered from the Levitown location $17.45 is $17.13 at the merrick location. I would eat at these locations more often if the price was more realistic. read more

They don't have signs up with empty proclamations (cheeseburger cheeseburger); the signs are all attributed to papers and magazines mostly along the east coast. All-American watch out! Luckily the fries are not as good as yours, but the burgers -- you are beat! The burgers are hand made and they feel like it. A regular burger is a double pattie. They don't advertise it at all. I have so much respect for this. It's not a big deal. It is what it is - Their burgers have two patties... no explanations, no excuses. Also, a la Cheeburger Cheeburger (not to be confused with cheeseburger cheeseburger), you can get as many toppings as you like from a list of around 15. I got mayo, ketch and fried onions and I liked it. Prices are moderate. Portions are healthy. I ordered a large fry and the owner scoffed at me, "Thats too much for one person, you know." I showed him my company and he consigned. (Even with my brother and niece, we weren't close to finishing the fries) They give you your order in an unmarked paper sack. Why does food taste better coming from a paper bag sack? And how did they know this? It seems like this is a very smart business with zero pretension. I don't get this 5 guy burger craze? I have tried them a few times in a few different locations. The fries are always soggy. I even asked for them to be well done and they were well done but still soggy. The burgers are good but nothing special. Don't let them fool you. A Fridays just opened up on Hempstead Tpke and I wanted to check it out. So me and the fellas went down there to welcome the new TGIF staff to the neighborhood. But unfortuantely for us, so did the rest of Nassau County because the wait was over 2 hours long! I had heard about 5 guys from a co-worker and was now in the mood for a juicy burger. So I rallied up the troops and we marched over to 5 Guys... I got a regular hamburger and a small burger (with bacon, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and shrooms). For the record, the small burgers are not really small at all....they just aren't the double deckers. And for the the fries... they give u 1 scoop for regular, put it in a bag... and then they scoop again. You can't finish 'em...and if you can, you might have a little bit of a weight problem :). This place has great burgers and great fries! The interior is bare and basic, counter service and tables strewn about. They have boxes of peanuts that you can grab and eat for free. I recommend getting a 2nd container for the shells. I love their burgers and toppings, I usually get a cheeseburger and have them put sauteed onions & mushrooms, jalapenos, and ketchup on it. I also like both their Cajun and normal fries, but definitely order the small (since the large is truly massive and overpowering.) I had a hot dog from them once, it was okay.
