This place surprised me with their food and friendliness. Visiting Solvang for a day to explore the Danish town. This restaurant captured my attention with their chill outdoor seats facing the sidewalk. The fish and chips and corned beef with cabbage are both bomb. So we actually had another place in mind to eat but some of these places shut down in the late afternoon and open up again around 5:00 p.m. Luckily for us we found this place in walking distance from our hotel. Perfect for us it wasn't even crowded so we selected a comfy booth. It's a sports bar and grill with flat screens for the sports lovers to enjoy. The also have dining outside. For starters we ordered calamari and sliders. For our main meal we ordered the philly cheese steak sandwich and salmon burger. All in all it was a great experience and entertainment. There was a happy drunk there terrorizing and an offering to buy drinks for everyone. I have been back twice since my first time, and both times the service was good but the food was amazing. I did have the Guinness stew, and I was a bit disappointed in it to my expectations. It was chunks of beef, carrot, some onion, and celery it a rich tomato broth that tasted more of curry than Guinness and served with Texas toast. It was not what I had expected, but it is a very simple dish for people looking for lower carbs. My husband had the lamb shank and loved ever bite. It was honestly the happiest he has been with a piece of lamb for a while. The next time we were in my husband got a pulled pork sandwich and loved every bite. I got a dublin burger, minus the onions, and was amazed. Due to my allergy most mayo's and bacon are no go, but I left the garlic aioli and thick cut bacon on it and added avocado. My gods that was good burger! The fries were thick cut stake fries, and it was glorious! Also the second time we were there the place was packed, and our food came out on time and it was not to loud. I recently got the corned beef and it was tasty and girlfriend got the mac and cheese. It was a very busy Holiday weekend and I do have to commend the staff for not losing their cool and was very patient and still kind to patrons! Got the beet salad and it was actually a 4 star salad haha. I liked it. Hubby liked the shepherds pie, though it's one of those where we won't specifically come back just for it! One thing I would recommend improving is maybe having a sign that shows where the bathroom is and the code for it printed on the table or by the bar area.. It's the first time I've had bangers and mash. And now I see what all the hypes about now. If you want good traditional pub food this place should be on your list. Man...I so wish I could give this place a higher rating. I'm not one to give ratings under three stars usually cause I've never thought a place usually deserves it. But this place needs help. And a lot of it. Literally. Two stars is probably being kind in all honesty I do get that they're understaffed as they leave a sign as soon as you enter. With all the people coming in, it took us about an hour for us to get seated and order. No worries. We were able to get water and relax for a bit. The atmosphere is pretty neat as an Irish pub. But that's almost where the stars end. My dad ordered a fish and chips while I ordered a shepherd's pie to share with my mom. After waiting a long time (due to only one cook in the kitchen), we got our meal only to find out it was pretty much inedible. The fish and chips were super salty. The only way my dad could eat it was by taking off the fried coating. Usually fried fish can rely on tartar sauce. But salt upon a fried layer can get really salty. Then for my shepherd's pie, it was actually inedible. It was so salty that it was like eating a salt block. You couldn't taste anything else but salt. The presentation of the food was nice but that's it. The four star rating average might've been for pre-covid. But as it stands, this place needs a lot of improvement. There are other reviews about food being overly salty and they were not wrong. Presentation is there, substance and taste are severely lacking. Such a bad experience. We waited 1 1/2 hours for our food! We were patient considering the busy season, but this was just ridiculous. We were starving, and even with that, the food did not meet any expectation. I ordered the fish and chips, and two of of three pieces of fish were not cooked well. My husband ordered a spicy burger with onion rings. The burger was luke warm and the onion rings were mushy. The only item that was actually tasty was the macaroni and cheese. The waitress was welcoming initially, but did not check in on us or offer any reassurance the whole time we were there. $127 later, we were left dissatisfied, disappointed, and angry.
