This shop has an enormous selection of cheeses and they often have little cubed samples. They also sell a variety of crackers, several types of salami, and offer a decent variety of wine. A fridge with non-alcoholic beverages sits in the corner. We purchased a little of everything for an afternoon snack. As the elderly woman checked us out in slow motion, I realized we needed a knife to slice the cheese. I was about to ask her if they had any plastic knives when she, without a word, nonchalantly reached under the counter and produced a couple plastic knives and napkins and placed them in our bag. She'd probably seen touristy folks like us make this sort of purchase for years and knew we'd ask. I thanked her profusely and she just offered a grandmotherly smile. Sweet. Later, I cut the cheese.

Tucked aside our favorite bakery (The Solvang Bakery), this store is loaded with goodies. They have a good wine section, including local favorites. There is a cheese and meat counter and a large section of international packaged foods. I was over joyed to find my favorite Finnish peppermint and chocolate candies "Marianne" and Finnish Cloudberry jam. Jeff found his beloved Norwegian Aquavit (he needed it to toast the holidays). This is the perfect place to pick up your picnic supplies and enjoy the gorgeous surrounding area. The beautiful Santa Inez Mission grounds are steps behind the shopping center.

When in Solvang I love stopping by to see what they have. I love their selection of cheese and charcuterie. Lots of crackers, jams, spreads and wine. You can easily put a picnic together and enjoy it at the nearby park. Great location. Great selection Great service

First time being there and I got the wine I have been looking for a long time -- Louis Jadot. The staff were helpful there. Found a hidden treasure. What a happy trip to Solvang.

Awesome cheese, wine, and anything you could need for a charcuterie board shop in the heart of Solvang. We stopped in to check it out on our first day and saw that they sold to-go charcuterie plates for 2 for $18.95. Since we were planning on wine tasting the next day this was perfect! Important to note that, although the shop opens at 9am, the woman that makes the cheese plates doesn't come in until 11am. Unfortunately we were led astray and told 9am, so we learned that the hard way. Luckily for us they had some pre-wrapped cheeses in small portions that ranged from $2-$3. Ultimately we ended up building our own plate with what we could buy from the store. Our supplies cost more and had slightly fewer offerings than would've been included with the plate, but it still worked out. Really cute shop with a great variety of cheeses and wines. I would definitely come back and build another board. I just wish they would've been more clear when we asked about coming back to get the cheese plates the next morning, because we could've gotten the plate when we were there the day before.

Excellent customer service and a great selection of unique gourmet foods that you won't find elsewhere. We strolled in while souvenir shopping and it was closing time. The lady who was there was super sweet and stepped in to help us with getting fresh coffee beans (we got a double chocolate and a hazelnut one), she even ground the beans for us. We didn't have enough time to peruse the wine collection or even the cheeses but will sure pop in next time we are there.

We went across the street and started at the Tiki bar... no bueno. Had to order Pho with wine.... ah no thanks. So Vinhus we go... asked if we could order a glass of wine with no food? Of course! Sat outside, chatted with some great people and then saw this amazing cheese plate wander by and we said "yes please!". Cheese, olives, fig jam, crackers and nuts. Crazy good. Rosè and Chardonnay were both perfectly chilled and the time flew by. We loved the vibe, the service, the wine and food. It'll be my first stop every time. Thank you!!!

When in Solvang you must try the cheese! Vinhus has a vast and delicious selection of different cheeses, and BONUS, they have small samples. There are also areas with knickknacks, woodwork, wine and coffee. If you are a coffee lover, they have a Kona blend that is absolutely delicious! Right off the main drive in Solvang, this a definite must to visit. Happy touring Yelpers!

The staff know me after so many years and they know what I like. That feels good as a customer. If I need deli-service I can toss a coin on the level of service I'll get. One time a young clerk stood in front of me and stared. No "hello, may I help you." I smiled as I looked at him and said- "Good morning?" I held hope that my example would help him mirror my behavior and be friendlier to the next person. At the coffee counter, my chances are 70/30 that I'll get poor service. It feels like they're doing me a favor. I drink black coffee. Simple and easy, yet it's usually an awkward experience. The supplement department staff is usually excellent and very helpful. The inventory is good. I usually find what I need. The produce section is well stocked. I like their avocados. I rarely need help, but the staff is always helpful and friendly when I do. I love the self-serve bulk spice and tea section. You can save so much money buying in bulk. Check-out cashiers can be very good and friendly or tepid. Considering how much I'm paying for the privilege to shop here, I shouldn't be so casual about this store, but there are few markets in the area. Customer service is a tough job, I understand.

I hate to write this bad review ... but I'm hoping it helps improve things. Stopped by this past…read moreweekend and ordered a Caesar salad and an Italian sandwich. The Caesar salad had the dressing on the side (not a problem).. but when I came to eat it the lettuce (no dressing on it) was beyond salty.. it was as if someone had poured salt instead of Parmesan on it. It was so bad that I threw it out and didn't continue to eat it. The sandwich was ok... but the bread was stale... and it honestly wasn't the fresh lunch I was expecting to have. It also took around 30min to get my order even though the place was almost empty. I think they can do better... felt like many careless mistakes.

I almost ordered a small charcuterie board for us to share but then thought it'd be too much food so I held off. The sandwiches were unique and not your typical tuna or turkey sandwiches. We were impressed with the taste and quality of the food in addition to the customer service. We ended up coming back a second time 30 minutes before they closed at 3pm. I got the tri-tip sandwich while my husband got the meatloaf sandwich. The owner even came out to meet all 3 of our Shih Tzu. We will definitely have to come back the next time we're in the area.
