This is a cute little market with a deli. They have seats outside and a few bench seats inside. We came for the deli! We ordered tri tip and the mashed potatoes with gravy on the side. The food was amazing! The tri tip was perfectly cooked and juicy. The mashed potatoes were flavorful as was the gravy. The only reason why I'm not giving this experience 5 stars is because the man at the counter that helped us was rude as hell. He had an attitude with every question we asked. The sides on display were covered with no signs. So when we asked if they had Mac & cheese today, he said "all we have is what's up there". Well they're covered, so how are we supposed to know what you have?? Anyway, other than that great experience! We will still return but next time we will be saying something to this man if he decides to keep the attitude. read more

Valley Fresh Market is a corner neighborhood supermarket. It's the only one in the area that offer good grocery products as well as deli. They are located in a large plaza. It's Solvang's Ralphs or V0NS. Overall, it's a nice supermarket. I recommend it. read more

This is the cutest little neighborhood market ! It really has everything you need and a little extra ! The patrons and staff are so friendly, helpful, and happy !! The aisles are nicely spaced and the store is clean ! We love stopping in to pick up a few snacks and drinks for the road ! There is always ample parking and it is never crowded! Review for carrot cake only. Just tried it today and it was awful. I don't know what frosting they're use Inv but it was flavorless and peeled off the slice of cake like a plastic top. Def not cream. Picked up some snacks for our road trip. The chickpea puffs were pretty good! We also liked the chickpea chips with sea salt. But our favorite was the 85% cacao Theo chocolate bar! I frequent Valley Fresh once a week. Particularly for their vitamin and supplement aisle. They have the best prices for my probiotics. I've never seen a store that has ladies working just in those aisles to help customers, and they are always friendly and helpful. The deli has some of the best freshest sandwiches in town. Although some of the deli people could be friendlier. A tip jar would do the trick. Love their salsas and vegetables. Always fresh. I don't believe for a second the reviews that said the meat had worms in it. lol If so, the worms came their house. Oh, and nice deserts. read more

I love this market and I love their pulled pork sandwiches. I buy them whenever available. I am a regular at this market. But, on June 8, I was looking for the pulled pork sandwiches in the deli case. They didn't have any so I bought three brisket sandwiches at $7.99 each. There was only two slices of very tough beef on the buns. I threw them away when I got home because they were not edible. Usually, this market has tasty sandwiches. I am sorry. When the Nielsen family owned it and the one in Buellton as Nielsen's Matket''s were pretty good for the price, quality and value. El Rancho was a bit better but always overpriced to this day. I won't shop at Valley Fresh Market as too many horror stories of people that have gotten sick from food from their deli. Took a couple of bites, spit it out and threw the rest away. The supposedly fresh fruit and vegetables don't last very long as most grocery stores. I steer clear of this grocery store. Hopefully another grocery chain takes over the lease. The service is fine but I'm giving two stars for the bakery pie. I wasted $12.99 on a cherry strudel pie. It was not edible. Looked amazing but tasted terrible. The cherry filling was gummy and the middle of the pie topping was raw mushy batter like. Over cooked fruit but undercooked middle. So I tried to heat it up in hoping that the cherry filling would soften noooo got sticky gummy like harden dried jam. What a waste of money. Never again. read more

I love this place despite it being a little higher priced than some of the mainstream grocery stores. The employees have been around a long time, in fact I believe it's a family that runs the place. It's just a nice atmosphere, very clean and they have a lot of higher quality foods and meats. They carry Harris Ranch beef and Mary's chicken. IYKYK. And they hands down have the best tomatillo salsa I've ever eaten, in the fresh salsa cabinet. Get some hot tri tip cut in giant slices and that and you will not regret it!! Walking in today for the first time since the new owners took over, I was literally stunned by what I saw. Gone is the somewhat shabby, drab and singularly unwelcoming establishment it had become in recent years. The new Coffee Bar is directly in front of you when you enter, with a sign that says "one cup of coffee for free", I smiled. I walked over and served myself a cup of excellent coffee, turned left and saw the new produce department that is enormous, full of local, organic choices as well as fruits, some pre-packed salad greens, etc. What I also noticed that the prices are significantly less than other local markets, not naming names. To the right is what has long been one of the best curated wine and spirit department in the North SB County. The choices are outrageous and are international with a depth of vintages and range of liquors, at excellent prices that is surprising. I always compare. They definitely know fine wines and spirits. You will not find a better selection, in any other market, period. The lighting is bright, not glaring. You don't walk down the aisles and have the lights going on as you move, which I dislike intensely. The floors are even great looking. Aisles with rather remarkable varieties had us convinced that this will likely become our regular store. AMAZING to have such a great market in SYV. I will drive out of my way to shop here. Nothing like it! Right away when you walk in, there is a cute coffee cafe ( with good coffee, espresso, and smoothies), and a whole nourishing shelf of fresh bread. Baked here. No other grocery store has that. Really special. Sourdough, garlic, savory cheese, and other pure, simple, and delicious flavors. Often there are safely done little samples so you can try them out. A lot delight variety in the desert case. Produce is fresh and vibrant. Happy and helpful people work here, making shopping and checking out really pleasant. Lots of easy parking. read more

I truly hope the owners of Valley Fresh give her the recognition she deserves, because I have never met a more welcoming and attentive person. If only I could leave no stars. I shopped at this store (previously Nielsens) for 20 years and bought a tri-tip that had worms in the red meat. Since my vision is not so good I ate a couple of slices before my son pointed out the problem. When I put on my glasses I was not sure what to do, but I felt very nauseous to say the least. When we took the meat down to the manager he would not deal with the situation at the front of the store and wanted take the meat away for inspection. Foolishly we let him do this. Of course, he denied the presence of worms and we no longer had evidence to provide to the Health Dept. Buyer beware. I will probably never eat tri-tip for the rest of my life. read more

Keep a good eye on what your charged. I figured at place like that I wouldn't have to really watch but a couple days later I checked my account and saw I got charged more then the 4 things should of been. I went in and nicely asked for help with it. You could tell this wasn't the first time this has happened buy the way a couple of the people were. I ended up getting some kid come to me with attitude and said come back tomorrow. Just want my money back and we won't be going there anymore. Great deals on food that my family loves! I like planning our meals around their weekly sales because then we get a healthy variety of fresh and local ingredients. The wine/beer department is huge and getting bigger & better as the renovation goes on! Make sure to talk to Ozzie the wine guy, he really knows what he's talking about and will help you find the perfect beverage to compliment your special meal or event. We had been shopping here for 20 years when it was Neilsen's Market. We recently purchased some tri-tip there and my wife and son found some white worms moving in it. We took it in with the knife and fork in the plate to show them. They refused to look at it then, saying they would do so in the back. We foolishly gave it back to them and they never got back to us. Upon my inquiry, I was told they found nothing. And they were very aggressive about it, clearly not believing us. We are reporting this to the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department. My recommendation is that if you happen to find worms in your meat from Valley Fresh Market, don't bring it to the manager's attention - go directly to the Health Department. read more

Great family owned business! Happy that the new owners are giving this shopping center a much needed change. The grocery store before felt so dirty and dated - now it's clean, welcoming and vibrant. Can't wait to see what other changes and renovations will soon come. In addition - their prices are the absolute best in the valley!
