Had some delicious sandwiches here. It's a really popular spot, with a lot of locals there. The grocery store itself is large and diverse, with a huge variety of items. Big parking lot! Inside, very large. A market and really great food to go. (We ordered sandwiches and went to sunstone winery around the corner. ). You write on the paper and just leave it on the counter. Took about 20+ mins to prepare , maybe because the Rueben takes much longer ??? Busy place. Sandwiches were exceptional, not just great ! If camping at lake chacuma or going to a winery - an excellent option. Restroom was in the back , follow the yellow line on the ground, lol. Basically in the warehouse area. Stopped here on our way into downtown Solvang. Hot and cold foods available plus a juice/coffee bar all in a supermarket. I loved it! The food was good and lots of choices that are not really available back home. Lots of great beer and wine choices. I will definitely be back. read more

This is our go-to market when we head to Solvang and stay at the Worldmark. It is small but has excellent quality products. It isn't just a "wine and cheese" shop, but rather has enough items to make a very high-quality meal. Think Whole Foods but smaller and way more intimate (if you can use that to describe a grocery store!). It is no where close to being a Winco, but I don't think any of the area grocery stores in the area could be for that matter. Service is very friendly and comparable to a Trader Joes (which I rate highly WRT service). read more

We stumbled upon this quaint grocery store after dinner during our stay in Santa Ynez. We were looking for a little something to munch on in our hotel room and we sure found it. This place has hyper local goods in every aisle and we so enjoyed shopping around. We ended up with some Santa Barbara cookies, local popcorns, chocolates, sparkling water, and more. We easily spent $40 but it was worth it. The cashier was very nice and quick. If I'm ever back in the area, I know where to go for my essentials! My family and I stopped by for lunch before checking in for our camping trip at Lake Cachuma. A few of us enjoyed their salad bar. All fresh and healthy ingredients available for self-serve. We stocked up on supplies on Christmas eve as we knew Christmas day would be pretty dead in Solvang. We purchased Danishes, snacks, and drinks. I have to say, this place knows how to make Danishes. I heated them up on Christmas morning and they were soooo good! Much better than the Solvang bakery, but the bakery didn't offer to heat their Danishes when we went there to eat. A very nice and well-stocked local market with friendly staff and an amazing variety of high quality and delicious offerings. The deli area is amazing with great burger and sandwich offerings as well as Mexican specialities such as tamales and chilaquiles. Fantastic supermarket and deli/hot food bar This supermarket on the edge of Solvang is marvelous!! The fresh produce is amazing and we loved the hot food bar! We ordered chile relleno, baby back ribs, tri-tip and spinach and artichoke casserole from the hot food bar. The food was tasty, well prepared and didn't have that bulk-cooked, processed flavour. It was also significantly cheaper than eating out in expensive Solvang. This is a terrific option if you are eating in Solvang on a budget! read more

First, I am not a local resident so I don't know what is locally raised or locally grown. That being said, I've never seen such a wide variety and highest quality of just about everything under the sun here at this market. The deli area is impressive and if you only went into the first 100 feet of the market you'd be impressed with the hot food selection, sushi, deli etc. It is amazing that they are cranking out this much food along with a line of foods that will rival any carniceria. Next, moving onto the butcher and meat counter you will find some impressive cuts of meat that are stunning. Did I just say stunning looking at raw meats? Yes! The butcher was also very well versed with what type of rub to use and even what temperature to reach for that cut. More than your average Joe the butcher. I haven't even moved into the wine and spirits section but I'll leave it there so you will have some mystery about all the hidden gems and diamonds in plain sight at this store. I have to say I'm quite saddened at the quality of our local markets after having the El Rancho experience. It's on the "list" like an E ticket ride at Disneyland back when they were a more pure version of themselves but that is another story :) read more

It does, despite it epicurean delights, maintain a small, country vibe. Prices are a bit high, but then so is the quality of goods....They offer an on-site sushi bar, grab-and-go deli, prepared hot item bar, gourmet cheese selection, local and organic produce, diverse wine grotto, and the freshest and most expansive selection of divine meats for purchase. Parking in abundant. The cashiers are always friendly and the store generally stays open later each day. El Rancho Market is where it's at - sushi on the go, deli fresh foods, an extensive cheese collection, fresh produce - they basically have everything. I came here on a whim and was flabbergasted that such a store exists in these parts. Right from their entrance is an extensive ready made sushi selection. Adjacent is their deli - made to order sandwiches and fresh deli sides make for a nice, quick, and easy meal. Further in the store, I found myself in the cheese department where they sell locally sourced cheeses. Like why? What a delight to discover such a treasure. Throughout the store, you can find things that are very specific to this region of California which is so nice because you are supporting local businesses. It was a one stop shop for the weekend - you can buy locally sourced baked goods and libations. For lunch, I ended up with some sort of sushi situation and with #10: The Jordan: 6oz tri-tip, 2 slices of bacon, cheddar cheese, toasted on an onion Cheddar roll with chipotle mayo, honey mustard + bbq sauce with onions + peppers ($7.99). Sandwich was delicious - meat was tender and had just the right amount of sauce. If you want to fill up your water jug for the weekend, there's a water filling station conveniently located toward the back of their store. I could eat every day at their Deli. It's that good. Very reasonable prices, Burritos are huge at $6.99 each, Chile Relleno is $5.99 each and one of the best I ever had! Their Clam Chowder and Tri-Tip Chili are both very delicious for $8.99 per Pint, 16 ounces! Breakfast Burritos, Tri-Tip Burritos, Enchiladas, Sushi Bar and Fish And Chips are all super good. They have other locations in Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo under the name California Fresh Market and those delis have the same products as this one! read more

They are haughty; disrespectful; unhelpful and abusive. They are happy as long as your money is moving in their direction, but not if there is a customer need to return or exchange anything. Their short-sighted abusive attitude is: only their needs matter; customers' (you know, the ones spending their money there) needs do not. read more

The hot food bar is incredible, you HAVE to try the chimichangas! They have sushi, desserts, good meats, sooo many sandwiches and burritos. I'll start by saying I was born and raised in SYV before moving to San Diego, so I grew up shopping El Rancho Market, and cooking and eating tri-tip. That being said, what they have done to a tri-tip sandwich should be considered a war crime. Santa Maria tri-tip is simple: salt, pepper, garlic power, cooked over oak wood. What they've done to this simple masterpiece is an insult to the meat and tradition. Shredded meat soaked in BBQ sauce, BBQ SAUCE! Blasphemy . Zero smoke flavor. Then cheese, roasted peppers, a tomato slice, onions, chipotle sauce on a ciabatta? Who greenlit this abomination??? A tri-tip sandwich is this: meat on a roll with some salsa fresca and/or maybe some horseradish, maybe some mayo if you're inclined. It was an incoherent mess that I threw away. They used to grill the meat in the parking lot, I don't know if they even do that anymore but they need to go back to the basics. Most everything here is top notch, just don't waste your $8 on this sandwich. read more

This is one of those local markets you wish you had in your neighborhood. We decided to stop here to pick up lunch before heading out to a couple of wineries. You walk in and immediately are overwhelmed with options: - deli case - already made and made to order sandwiches - already made salads and salad bar - hot burritos - sushi! - hot a la carte items such as wings and mini corn dogs - cheese - bakery items And this isn't even hitting the grocery aisles! We opted for a salad, burrito, almond croissant, and deli salad and spent less than $25 (and all were pretty tasty). Way cheaper than purchasing food at the wineries which gives you more cash to drink more wine :) read more

I came here for some food and wine, and I was really impressed with their selection of items! I bought a sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. It was fresh, well priced, and delicious. It was a bigger market than I thought too. Their selection of meats, cheeses, and even packaged items were impressive too. Being a first timer here, I had to stand back to watch how things went. There's paper slips for burritos, tacos and sandwiches. There's also a menu behind the counter on a TV monitor. We settled on the #10 sandwich - The Jordan. It's a warm sandwich that sounds like the flavors of Chipitle mayo, honey mustard and BBQ sauce would be weird. Boy was I wrong. A definite must!
