I was visiting Solvang overnight and realized once I arrived at my hotel that I forgot my night wrist brace. This is my second trip away in a 2 year period that I forgot to pack it! Last time I forgot it while out of town, I was able to buy one at CVS. So naturally, I went to CVS in Solvang but to my surprise they did not have any form of a wrist brace. So my only option now was Rite Aide. I was crossing my fingers they had one. It was about 8:00pm on a Saturday and when I walked in the store was empty and a clerk was stocking merchandise. She greeted me immediately and asked if she could help me find anything. I told her what I was looking for and she confirmed they did carry the item and she led me to the shelf. She even looked over the options to find the one most like the one I described. I was so excited they had it! It was a bit pricier than I paid on my last purchase for it but I was just happy they had it in stock. It was such a huge relief to know I could sleep that night. read more

I stop by here when I am in Solvang and need this and that . . . today was a busy day, and the manager was working TWO registers until her help came off break! Very impressive - she'd start a transaction here, go the other one, enter something, back to the first while we entered our phone number for rewards or played with the credit card thingy - not sure how she did it, but it worked! And she never lost her humor or customer presence. Most impressive - sadly I did not get her name, but my "thanks" to her! It's 3 PM on a Tuesday afternoon in May and 2 people approach the unattended Thrifty Ice Cream scoop area. The cashier adjacent sees us waiting and she gets on the PA system: "(Can you believe someone wants ice cream on a Tuesday at 3 PM), send someone over." This guy comes over with disheveled hair with the attitude like we just woke him up from a deep sleep. No hello, just puts gloves on and stares at us in anger. I ask for a double scoop of Pralines and Cream and Cookie Dough. He yells out, "I can't hear you--you need to speak up!" I pay for mine and my friend wants some ice cream and asks for Pistachio. The guy just walks out of the area and someone else takes over. My ice cream order must have burnt him out. We see him next leaving the store. My friend and I sit on a bench outside the Rite-Aid and eat the incredible ice cream (Get the Pralines). Then Leonardo, owner of the Italian Restaurant comes over to chat. He was coming back from the grocery store with some fruit and vegetables. He says try his place for dinner--they have the best Chicken Parm. We ended up dining there later after we wore off the ice cream. I was threatening to return to Rite Aid for more Praline ice cream after dinner at Leonardo's, but the table next to us offered us the best Birthday Cake from their celebration. Such nice people. We arrived today with three kids so excited for ice cream. There was a grey haired man sitting behind the cash registers who didn't even look up or greet us. Then when we went to the ice cream counter he barked at us that we needed to pay for the ice creams in advance. I have been to Thriftys many times and have never ever had to pay in advance. Then my older daughter was uncertain about a flavor and requested a sample and the man sharply said we don't do samples anymore ever since covid. That seems odd to me since I have been to Thriftys many times since covid and have always gotten samples. Then the grey haired man who made us pay in advance told a co-worker in a beanie to serve us so he could go on his break. The worker with the beanie was also curt and had no patience for my daughter who was uncertain of whether she wanted a cup or a cone and my other daughter who always looks forward to eating with a sample spoon. Then when my youngest needed to use the restroom and I asked where it was he mumbled an answer begrudgingly and when I asked him to repeat his answer her was very rude in tone. It was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at a Thriftys. I get that the employees could care less about selling ice-cream but I hope the manager who runs this location has the integrity and leadership to hold workers accountable for being polite, welcoming, and showing some level of costumer service. Probably the worst customer service! It was so bad that i want to give a negative star. First time to write very bad reviews. We came in at the store, 9:43pm they closes at 10pm. This older gentleman name Ray (no badge, nut he said his name is Ray) told in our face he's pissed off whenever a customer come in late. What the hell?? We bought a lot of stuff & obviously need a bag, and he said, "we don't have any bags", and i'm sure that's a lie!! Then, he started almost throwing candies on the counter, showing how pissed off he was. Well, it's not our fault that they're open until 10pm, may be they should start closing at 9pm then problem solve. I mean, if he hated his job, quit and find other things to do that will make you happy, don't take it out on the customer who only wants to give you business. That's not acceptable. For a drug store, I had mediocre expectations for a typical Rite Aid. I was pleasantly surprised, not only by how clean this store was, but also with their offerings. Like many in the area, I was visiting Solvang and needed a few things short notice. I was surprised by their alcohol selection, as well as their food offerings. They had everything I needed and more. I was shocked to find they had disposable diaper pails, which I had forgotten, and was a serious Godsend for our hotel room! Very few places sell them, and I was thrilled with the random find. Had the worst experience at this location today, my family and I went to go visit Solvang and did a quick pit stop at this rite aid to grab some snacks and meanwhile my family were getting the thrifty ice cream the employee named Leticia, employee # 61857903 was giving a huge amount of attitude to my family and I meanwhile serving our ice cream. I had just came out of the restroom to meet up with them and when I had seen their flavors in their hand I had asked for a "chocolate " looking one and I guess that upset her and corrected me with a very disgusting attitude as to what it was actually called. Which I wouldn't have mind if she corrected me but not with the attitude she gave. When she finally finished we headed to the register and just gave an overall bad attitude through the whole entire time till end, until she got the next customer and spoke to them so kindly and very respectfully which made absolutely NO SENSE. When my family and I never ever disrespected her. I didn't want to come to this conclusion but I have no other alternatives but that was an act of racism. She herself was a colored women just like us and treating the women behind us who was white so differently which like I said makes no reasonable sense. All I ask if you train your employees to be equal to anyone, everyone who walks in. Solvang is a tourist place I would hate to see her disrespect more people. Who she didn't prefer. read more

Older gentleman who is always at the front counter every day is extremely rude and seems miserable working there. He never has anything nice to say and I think he purposely goes out of his way to make you feel uncomfortable. He barks orders at you like "empty your basket and go put it back on your way out." Total jerk. The woman who works the front counter is always pleasant and tells me to put basket on top of counter and she'll take the items out. She also takes the basket from you and puts it back herself. This guy needs to go. Asked the front desk and they pointed us to this Rite Aid, which was less than a mile away from downtown Solvang. This is the nicest rite aid ive ever been to! This is the best Rite Aid Store that I've ever been to. Their ice cream is to die for and they carry everything from Swedish fish to adult diapers (not that I buy adult diapers frequently XD) I've been going to this Rite Aid since I was five years old and have yet to find any Rite Aid that is so clean, organized, and well stocked. The quality has always been top notch and has never faded in the slightest. This store is what made me love Rite Aid like I do today! read more

One of the worse Rite Aids I've ever been to. First, you can't find anyone when you need help finding items. Secondly, the place always seems messy. Things are not tactfully displayed, more like thrown-together-at-the-last-minute. Finally, the young red headed cashier girl has no common sense nor good manners. We were treated with prejudice and witnesseed her demeanor with a latino. I would say she may have some prejudice towards customers. Definitely, not a welcoming place. The largest Rite-Aid with the most expansive selection of items I've ever seen. The square footage alone is impressive. If you're vacationing in Solvang, this is the place to go for everything you may have forgotten or need! Room, clean, and has good customer service. Giant parking lot is another plus. read more
