I was secretly dreading the arrival of a dollar store in town after it was announced. Now that they're open, I ventured in yesterday to see what they had to offer. Of course they had a lot of the expected cheaply made and priced items from overseas... BUT I actually found many things that I easily pay double or triple the price for at nearby stores. I have realized that people come here for specific reasons: -If you are into crafts or gift making, stop in here before Michaels. They have all the gift bags, wrapping paper, tape and decorations. -If you are going on a trip or camping and need basic, disposable items like a cell phone charger, hand fan, or flashlight. -If you love to decorate for the Holidays, but on the cheap. -If you are just truly on a budget... Keep in mind that this Dollar Tree is unstaffed with long waits at the registers, yet the employees kept their cool and kept ringing up items. I probably won't become a regular but it is a good option for specific occasions. read more

I really like the dollar tree because they have great items for only a dollar. But, they have one cashier on a Saturday afternoon and the line is so long it goes all the way down the aisle. They're a little short staffed for a busy weekend, hopefully they can hire more help soon. read more

An employee by the name of Richard, and the manager Brian, were very helpful! I had a very challenging visit, as I lost my keys, then they helped my in locating them... Long story short they were recovered by Richard , and I was filled with gratitude ! Even from the very beginning when I walked in to the Halloween section Brian had a warm greeting, and presence to him. He worked extra hard before driving (over an hour) home... he willingly without complaint, spent his time re-stocking. So generous, so helpful. Really poorly stocked, didn't even have a frickin spray bottle to put cleaning solutions into. Every frickin Dollar Tree had it but this one didn't. WTF! Compared to other Dollar Tree stores, this one is on the "smaller" side so don't expect great selection or inventory. A discount store in every sense, but man are there some deals! As a Goleta local (and as others may also admit to), I was a tad disappointed upon hearing that Dollar Tree would be setting up shop in our very own Fairview Shopping Center. I've historically known Dollar Trees to be cheap in all regards, dirty, unenthusiastic staff, and teeming with screaming children running around. When this spot opened, I was pleased to see that it was a cut above what I've come to expect at their sister locations. As a budget-conscious consumer committed to putting the bulk of my paychecks into savings, this Dollar Tree is my jam. Sure, they have a fair share of "cheap," tacky items - but what discount store doesn't? I've come to appreciate the deals I can find on the following: - Hallmark greeting cards (yes, HALLMARK!): a vast selection at $0.50 and $1.00 price points. This came in handy during the holidays for sure - Frozen food selection: many of their items are quality and can be found for 3-4x the cost at the standard grocery store - Toiletries: seriously, some great deals on name-brand items - Cleaning supplies and general merchandise items: there is a lot to choose from, and again, many of the items are name brand I've been in here numerous times since their opening and can confidently say that's it's clean and well-stocked each time. Sure, there are kids running around unattended, but that just comes with the territory. The staff are all friendly and personable from what I've gathered which is a refreshing change from their other locations. I look forward to giving this location more of my business! read more

Amazing experience! I went in sometime last week, and during these difficult and unusual times, I was frantically looking for some groceries and hand soap. I was greeted by a young man (Charli) and lady (Nancy, I believe)at the registers. I happily shopped around the store and was approached by Charli. He politely asked if I was finding everything okay, and I asked if they had had soap. He directly took me to the aisle with hand soap and asked if I needed anything else. I asked for food items, and he showed me to the correct aisle. Fast and easy! I was ready to checkout and I got checked out by the same worker who was also the manager at the time being. Turned out he was college student at UCSB as well. He is a great representation of Dollar Tree, UCSB, and our Goleta community. Amazing experience and will continue to go to Dollar Tree 10 out of ten! read more

I was in here a couple of days ago, and I asked for a military discount to my surprise they, of course, said no. Most places say yes because they appreciate the armed forces and their families. But overall I have experienced better. read more

The employees are not running the store safely during the COVID crisis. There is a sign outside that says only 30 customers allowed at a time, but the person manning the door keeps leaving the front, allowing people to enter at will. I saw one employee not wearing a mask. They allow kids to enter who are not wearing masks. When I pointed that an unmasked kid is running around the store (ran by me 2x during the less than 10 mins I was there (including waiting in line to pay) - the employee said she didn't notice. Obviously the guy manning the door also didn't notice. The one and only cashier signaled me to approach and put my items on the counter even though the customer she was still helping was still there (still in the process of paying). I went shopping in the evening at around 7pm, with both of my son's! 5yr/7yr old, the young one kicked a ball in the isle, didn't brake anything, according to Charli he did, when i watched everything. Chari starts yelling at my 5yr old as im on the phone, not knowing i was the dad in the isle, I told charli to lower his voice and that he had no right in yelling at my son's, I asked him do you have that clear? You dont yell at my sons, i asked him for his full name, he refused to give me his lastname, and claimed he was the manager, when i asked him, who the manager was & that i wanted to talk to him. He also refused to give me the corporate office number. He really pissed me off Charli looks like a 15-17yr old to me, unprofessional blamming my son for braking, paperclips! A box and he said something like glass glass. I asked him, you saw him braking the paperclips? If he broke what your telling me, I will pay for it, but you have no right in yelling at my son's. He said yes, liar Charli,dollar tree needs to get someone more professional as a manager, dont just throw a kid out of highschool to do the job. read more
