We come here because they have Ojai Olive Oil for their dipping oil/vinegar combo. Each jar is $24, which is pretty pricey, but this is the only place where I've found the combination of the oil/vinegar is pretty good. I like that they already have herbs in the bottle. Makes it easy as it's an all in one. The staff here have been very nice and accommodating with our requests to try the different items they have. They also have wine tasting for about $25 for 4-5 pours I believe. But we don't come here for the wine though. read more

Such a great experience! If you get tired of the wine tasting... go for olive oil tasting! Everything was incredible! The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly! read more

The olives are amazing. First time on a vacation visiting. Great experience. You can sample alot of olive oils and olives.

Wonderful place. Anthony was the best. Super friendly and helped us enjoy a nice glass of cab. He also helped us pick a delicious Persian like olive oil with pomegranate balsamic pairing. I've shared the oils with family and friends and they were a smash hit!!! Highly recommend. read more

What an amazing gem this place is, I was excited to come here to see all the amazing oils they had in stock. Owner mentioned his favorite is the Blood Orange and that's exactly what I purchased. I have been going to this place for years. I saw a review disparaging Jeff, the owner. I'm sorry to hear that. We all have bad days. He is a kind man. I'm sorry if his humor didn't come through. Give him another chance - and take your time. The town is at a slower pace. It takes some adjusting. This place used to be across the street. I get wine, oil and olives for my mom every year - and try to stop by a couple times a year. Give it a try. Go in relax and enjoy the company, The wines are good - and the olive pairing are really fun. read more

On a summer road trip down the coast ( COVID getaway) we stopped in Solvang and tasted wine here. We really enjoyed the wine and the vibe. Jeff, the owner, was generous and friendly, offering us a second taste of our favorite. The patio was perfect for physical distancing, and our dog, Tyson, was comfortable lounging near our table. We especially liked the Super Cali and the Cabernet. I definitely recommend this spot when you are in the area. read more

I came back here cause I've been here before and they had the good stuff and service was good but unfortunately this time around, my boyfriend and I weren't even greeted upon entry. There were ONLY 2 people sitting at the bar getting served wine. I don't understand why the person behind the bar didn't bother to welcome us. It's not that difficult and time consuming to greet customers. We walked around the shop a bit and eventually left, still not being acknowledged. We concluded that it was maybe cause we weren't Caucasians. Sad. I know. Not planning on coming here anymore. I have to give 1 star cause I can't give zero. read more

I was looking up things to do around the place we were staying at, so my boyfriend and I decided to check this place out. Jeff helped us out and gave us a good wine tasting experience! My boyfriend and I aren't experts at wine but he made us feel comfortable trying the different flavors. We also tasted some of the olive oils that are offered and OMG! They are so tasty. We ended up taking two bottles home. Overall it was a cute shop, the experience was great and Jeff was very nice and welcoming. read more

Lovely wine tasting room with some fabulous wines! I especially liked the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. If I didn't already have a couple of cases in my storage area at home, I would have bought more! Jeff, the owner, made us feel right at home. We came in around 1:00 and we were able to secure the comfortable wine barrel chairs with footstools to enjoy our wine. If we didn't have to leave, we would have stayed for another couple of hours! We bought some of the olive oil for cooking and can't wait to try it! read more

An olive store that does wine tasting. Interesting combination, but it works. They also do a olive pairing with the wine, but apparently you have to request it, since it was not initially offered to us. We only knew about it because a friend of ours is a wine member. Good wine and a very good selection of quality olives. They have everything....olive oils, vinegar, garlic, blue cheese, almond, and habanero stuffed olives, just to name a few. A good place to stock up on your way through Solvang. read more

We strolled in on a Saturday afternoon and were immediately greeted by a gentleman who was very helpful. He had us sample olive oils, balsamic vinegars and combos that were great. The bottles are stack-able which is really fantastic. I purchased Basil infused olive oil, Blood Orange infused olive oil and a balsamic. Fantastic prices, excellent service and very cute shop! I'll be back!!! read more

I was in solvang today and this wasn't my first time but this lady named Jennie was so kind she helped me with the olive oils I really liked the garlic parmesan dipping oil it tasted like garlic bread.Jennie is so kind with me.The service was awesome but Jeff the owner jokes around with people a lot.I had the best time ever! read more

This wine tasted is a 2 or 3 but paired with the olives and the experience of the guy behind the counter makes The Olive House tasting room a great time. We've been visiting The Olive House for 3 years now when ever friends come to town and it's always a blast. As I mentioned, we don't go there for the wine but rather the conversation. Give it a try and enjoy your olives. read more

Came in here only to buy the tickets for the wine and beer walk. We ended up staying to sample some of the wines. The man who runs the bar was very helpful and nice. The wines here are actually really good. Will be back again next time. read more

My family always hits up the Olive House when we are in town for the holidays. I haven't been to the new location yet, but I hear they have moved around the corners, so I can't speak for the new location. In the past we have gone and my family loves the Olive and Wine parings from the owner Jeff Feely. He's always very friendly and entertaining. They also have garlic, Olive Oil and other arts and crafts. We definitely will be back the next time we are in town over the holidays. I will update my review after visiting their new location. read more

My family and I went to this dump late in the afternoon to try the wines available. The owner of this establishment turned out to be such an A-Hole! - He continuously made bad jokes about wanting to fight with me in front of my sons and daughter-in-law and wife. he made several remarks about wanting to fight me and made direct comments to me in front of my sons, very disrespectful. I was having a weekend getaway with my family and this guy was a total A-Hole! I would not recommend going to this dump unless you are willing to be subjected to this A-Hole's bad taste comments, especially if he feels he likes one of your family members. There is no "-" on this rating or else I would give it to this e3stablishment. I came real close to reporting him to the local police & tourist chamber of commerce for the harassment I received. This business owner gives a real bad reputation to the town of Solvang, The customer service was awful. If you are planning to go here, be ready to be subjected to this A-Hole's disrespectful comments, especially if he finds one of your family members attractive. read more

I never write reviews because I was raised to keep it to myself If you have nothing nice to say. However, exceptions can be made for exceptional experiences. In what I perceived to be a boring little touristy town on our way back to LA from San Luis Obispo, my girlfriend and I stumbled upon a delightful gem. The Olive House introduced us to Jeff, who guided us through a tour of 5 (or 6?) tasty wines from Twenty Mile Vineyard and just really good company for a couple of East Coast Tourists. Whenever I think of Solvang, I'll always think of this place and Jeff. Thank you for providing a great memory my girlfriend and me. read more

We were drawn into this store like moths to a flame... the large sign out front boldly declared that WINE TASTING was available, and that was all it took to lure us in. Too bad it was the most disappointing part of our weekend. When we entered, there was one lone female employee on the telephone. She didn't really acknowledge us at all, just continued her call with her head down. After browsing the assortment of overpriced food items and nick knacks, we sidled up to the bar in hopes the employee would get the hint that we were here to taste wine. We took seats on the stools and waited. Eventually, she realized that we weren't just resting our feet and approached us. I explained that we'd like to purchase 2 wine + olive pairing tastings... a moment later we had glasses in front of us and a pour plus an olive to try. I do a fair amount of wine tasting, and one critical component of the tasting experience is the interaction and vibe of the person pouring the wine. They will typically tell you a little about the wine as you taste and make light conversation with customers. Well, forget about any of that. The employee's demeanor was very mechanical and she was not friendly AT ALL. She had a very cold vibe towards us and displayed no expression whatsoever. She either doesn't like her job, or is not cut out to interact with the public. Other than telling us the varietal of the wine and olive, she was silent and seemed annoyed. I tried to make light conversation with the employee to try and draw out an iota of personality (to alleviate the awkwardness) but to no avail. The whole experience fairly uncomfortable and I wouldn't recommend it... go ahead and skip this place, there are a great many other places to taste wine in the immediate vicinity (like Sante Wine Bar... they are very friendly there). read more

The guy behind the counter couldn't have been more obnoxious! Indeed, we would have felt this way even if his wine wasn't overpriced and his olives mediocre. I could go into details, but why bother? The place isn't worth a visit. It's not even worth my time. I only yelp it to save my friends the trouble. If you pass this place, you've done well. If you walk in, break something for us. There are plenty of places in Solvang worth your time and appreciation; the Olive House -- and the self-absorbed dickhead behind the counter -- isn't one of them. read more

Wine tasting - 3 reds and 3 whites for $7.00. Not bad. But I wish the lady had a heavier pour. My favorite was the Santa Rosa...a red Italian sparkling wine. Must try - fruit flavored balsamic vinegars. Strawberry. Peach. The two best ones. Man...I'm getting lazy...but the important thing is...I'm telling you all the important things. read more

Defective balsamic vinegars! Jeff the owner promises to replace then changes his mind! I have been ordering 100s of $$s worth of balsalmic vinegars from them for years, but recently we received a defective order. Several bottles had watered down consistency and inferior taste. Promises to replace order then breaks his word, poor customer service! I emailed and called Jeff Feeley and he told me verbally he would replace the whole order...when I received nothing , called him again...he said the replacement order would be shipped out next day...again nothing...I called him a 3rd time a few weeks later and again he committed to ship a replacement order next day...again nothing. He then emailed me stating he refused to replace, breaking his word and promise! When I asked for a few free bottles on our next order he refused , doesn't stand behind his products and will never order again!! This is the way he treats one of his biggest and long standing customers? Here is my $150+ order as testamen (and what to avoid): Solvang Olive House, Order #1664,Your order has been delivered Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar × 1, Raspberry Balsamic Vinegar Aged 18 Years × 2,, Fig Balsamic Vinegar Aged 18 Years × 2, 18 Year Aged Balsamic x 3 read more

Overall, great experience! I had been to this location before, but it was Presidio Wines. It was good then and informative as well, but now they added this element of "fun". Jeff, the owner, has a great personality and a very funny dude as long as you are not easily offended. And if you are lucky enough to catch Dave hanging out, you're in for a treat. Had great conversations with these two and they gave wonderful recommendations on the exciting things to do in town as well. Definitely check this place out, if you want to laugh, get some good recs and drink some fine wines! read more

I found this place thru http://www.solvangusa.com. The idea of pairing olives with award winning local wine sounded too good to pass up. The woman who worked looked stressed and not thrilled to be there. We got a tasting which included 6 different wines for $10. The pours were heavy, which is good, but they didn't provide a bucket to dump out excess wine. When she poured each wine it was like she was deliberately trying to give us as little information about the wine as possible. We felt rushed and uninformed. The idea of wine/olive pairing is good in theory, but their execution is poor at best. read more

Came here on a Thursday around 3pm and there was no one else there. We were under the impression that they were offering wine tastings that would also be paired with olives based on other Yelp reviews. Sadly this was not so. The lady behind the counter must have had a bad day (or even year) bcuz she didnt seem to want to be there. There were no tasting notes nor any offer of explanation regarding what type of tastings they offered. We were done sharing a tasting when we happened to notice that they had a lot of dessert wines on display. I asked her if they offered tastings for sweet wines and she said yes. We decided to share another tasting for the sweet wines, but the entire time we were there it felt as if the lady was just kind of wanting to kick us out so she could go somewhere else. There was no outright rudeness, but the service & atmosphere fell way short of our expectations. The wines were ok, but was overshadowed by the unwelcoming attitude of the lady behind the counter. It was like pulling teeth trying to get her to tell us about the wines. There are many other tasting rooms in the area with good wine AND people who enjoy what they are doing which leads to a far more enjoyable wine tasting experience. I wouldn't warn people away from this place in case this was just a one-off, but I would not come back here. read more

Randomly wandered in and got a tasting before the place closed. For $10 we had six wines paired with olives. The wine was good on its own, but the combination with the olives were amazing. Almonds stuffed with almonds, feta cheese, blue cheese and sun dried tomatoes are the ones I remember. I don't know how long it must of taken to make the perfect combination of olive and wine, but they nailed it. The man serving did make a lot of jokes and I suppose if you're they type with a chip on your shoulder you could get your feelings hurt. We hung out there a bit. He was nice, just made a lot of jokes that were mostly funny. Besides that he buys the grapes from local vineyards and makes small batches of wine himself. His wine more than makes up for his dry sense of humor. If in Solvang I doubt you'll fine a better tasting for ten bucks. read more

This tasting room didn't make my "list" that I researched before our trip, but my boyfriend stopped in here on a whim. The atmosphere is just okay, nothing special. There was flies flying around the whole time. No one else came in while we were there. At one point we commented on how bad the wine was and the lady behind the counter said "Oh yeah I think that one might be old" and she opened another bottle and poured in a tiny amount to retry. It wasn't much better. I'm glad I told him to skip purchasing a tasting for me, because the wines were not good. I took a sip of nearly all of the wines and I thought they were all rather gross. My bf didn't end up liking any of them. Out of all the wine we tasted in the Santa Ynez valley that trip, this was the worst. read more

I'm a member at a few wineries in Temecula so this was a new experience for me tasting in Solvang. Walked in and wasn't greeted. Place was small and seems family owned. Looked around at the store before wandering into the tasting room. We decided to do our tastings from a bar table that was in the center of the room. The pourer came out and greeted us. He seemed nice enough. Offered us 6 pours of their wines. He was pretty attentive as we didn't sit long with an empty glass. There were only two other people in there tasting. Wines were okay. None I would buy but it's fun to try new wines. Did our 6 tastings and headed out to the next tasting bar. read more

We did the wine and olive pairing and I was super impressed with everything we tried. At first the thought of wine and olives seemed a little off putting but in actuality, the viognier with jalapeno & garlic olives is fantastic. The price of the tasting is a little high ($15) and I think you should be comp-ed a tasting with purchase but nonetheless a definitely must stop for Solvang read more

Good BUT I will say - when we came in we asked for a tasting then asked for the restroom he told my husband there was a restroom in the park. After a trek he used the restroom and we got a wine to go and balsamic. Then a group of younger women walk in asking for bathroom and he tells them I have one in the back. Lol wtf. read more

Had fun tasting wines and olives here. Owner was friendly and "threw in" a free olive grabber with our purchase.

My friends and I stopped here on our way out of this lovely town. The owners sat down with us, and had a CONVERSATION with us. Wow, an actual conversation. The olives were delicious, the olive to die for, and of course, you have to get a bottle of the wine before leaving. This is a great stop if you are looking for things to do in this gorgeous quaint little town. Bonus, there are fabulous wine sign/handcrafted items that you can purchase for your home/kitchen. Highly recommend. read more

Heavy hand I must say, last place we visited in Solvang, we left very wasted. Weird option as tasting Stella Rosa. . . It was the Stella Rosa Black but still weird. Kind of a cheap wine to have on Flight. . . but over the place was cute and had samplings of olive oil which was very different but I had already spent money at the oilive farm in Los Olivos. The staf was helpful and informative but I wasn't wow'ed and the prices were good but I was tapped out at this point so I LEFT WITH NOTHING. I would definately come back for a flight here. read more

We had a terrific time tasting oils, vinegars, learning to cure the olives from our tree, and getting some local knowledge from the very kind clerk/manager. The olive oils are truly delicious, as are the unique vinegars. We bought the tuscan garlic and herb oil blend, the garlic and mushroom olive oil, and a grapefruit balsamic vinegar. Can't wait to make some dressings back home, and taste them with a fresh organic baguette. Wish there had been crackers or bread to taste, but it was still fun, and I felt the 16.95 price per bottle was also fair. I also tried the white wines, and the pinot noir. Wasn't a huge fan of the wines, but my daughter and I really liked the service, and the lovely woman gave my daughter two free Solvang postcards so she could send to friends. Nice touch. read more

The Olive House is a must stop if walking around the Solvang streets. It has amazingly cute and unique gift items for the gourmet chef in all of us. Great selection of oils and oh yeah....WINE!! Jeff (the owner) makes his own wine and he's usually the one pouring for you so it's great to ask questions about how the wine was made, plus it's very affordable. I always recommend this place for people who want to do an ALL MOSCATO wine tasting. You know your friends who always say "I like sweet wine".....you can bring them here and be their sudden hero! read more

Came here last month. The lady behind the bar was excellent! She was very helpful and informative, explaining each wine and olive. This was the first time that I've paired wine with olives and the experience was wonderful! I did buy a jar of garlic olives and a bottle of Twenty Mile Merlot. In reading the other reviews, I think the "man" everyone was talking about is the owner of this joint. I did see him there for a few minutes before he left and for the time that he was there, he did seem very obnoxious and rude. If you do decide to check this place out, take a peek thru the window and see who is behind the counter. If it's a lady, then please enter. If not, then go to your next choice. read more
